A/N: Trying a new system out. Bear with me. Lots of love and cuddles.
OOOOOOOO
Drew pulled Calli to his side as the crowd surged past them and chuckled lightly as she buried her face in his chest, nails curling themselves in his shirt. She still wasn't used to the commotion of the WWE after all this time and this was just a practice crowd of stage actors. What would she do with the real thing?
"It's over," Drew said softly, patting Calli on the back. "You did – you did well."
Calli shook her head and pulled back. "I did horrible! There's no way I can go out on the floor ringside with you tonight! Everyone knows I'll panic and freeze up!"
Drew quirked an eyebrow. "I highly doubt that."
"Why?"
"Because Mark is going to be watching over you," Drew said, pointing across the large area. "And he's already promised that if anyone gets it in their bright head to hurt you, they'll be answering to him."
Calli smiled slightly. "What about you?"
"I get the leftovers…unfortunately."
The shorter Goth patted him on the cheek. "Poor baby…"
Drew bent his head down and stole a quick kiss. "I'll show you poor baby, later, love. Make you go right to the edge and wait for me…"
Calli shivered at his words and felt heat pool inside. She glared at him and flicked her hair over her shoulder, walking away with a small sway in her hips. Calli skipped around the people that were milling about and over to Mark. The retired Superstar wrapped an arm around her shoulders and started walking up the ramp as if this was a common exchange of arms.
"How are you feeling," Mark asked, looking down at her.
"Nervous. Sore. Sick."
Mark shook his head. "You still haven't told Drew yet."
Calli sighed. "Would you want to tell someone all this kind of news? All at once?"
"He's bound to wonder…"
"So let him wonder. I'm good at covering my tracks. There's nothing that he can trace without breaking several laws. Right?" Calli brushed back a stubborn strand of hair. "I'm okay."
"Calli."
"Mark."
Mark turned to her at the gorilla entrance. "You're not convincing anyone that you're doing okay. People can tell that you've lost a considerable amount of weight. People can tell that you're tired…and more increasingly so."
Calli shrugged. "Diet gone bad?"
"Calli."
"Okay, okay. So I'm not okay," Calli said, crossing her arms. "I'm far from being fine. I just don't want Drew or anyone to worry about me. Except you, obviously because you know everything about everything." She raked a hand through her hair. "Mark, me and Drew are barely a year into our marriage! How could I be this awful?"
Mark squeezed her hand. "What do the doctors say?"
"Really big scary ass words that I never wanted to hear attributed to me. All leading to more testing and labs. There's going to be more tests given to see what else is causing everything to go screwy. I just want answers, Mark, and soon."
Mark looked at her and she finally met his gaze. "Don't you think as your husband, Drew has the right to know what's going on?"
Calli shook her head and wrapped her arms around herself. "I refuse to tell Drew that I might be very, very sick. And you're not allowed to tell him either. It may put his wrestling career in danger."
Mark's eyes were soft. "Do you really think that the health of his wife matters less than the wrestling career he can drop and pick up again later?"
Calli grumbled. "That…Stop trying to make sense! I don't want him to worry about me, okay? He's saved me too many times to count. I don't want him to have to do it again."
"Calli…"
"No, Mark. No. Just no." Calli broke Away from him and walked off backstage, swiping at her face to get rid of her tears before someone could see them.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Drew slipped into the hotel room hours later, not surprised to find Calli already curled up on the bed. He sat carefully on the edge of the bed and smoothed his hand through her hair. Calli turned her face towards him and opened her eyes partially, studying him.
"You know," she guessed, her eyes sad and tired.
Drew nodded. "Aye."
"Mark?"
"Your doctors," Drew corrected, tracing her cheekbone, no longer covered with baby fat. "They were concerned when you were doing this all alone…"
Calli closed her eyes and sighed. "Sorry…"
"You should have told me that all of this was happening, love. I could have took some time off and -"
"I didn't want you to stop your life for me."
Drew frowned and gathered her in his arms, holding her close. She felt even smaller than normal as he held her. Like she was fading away from him and his world.
"Love, you are my life. And you have been since the day that we met," Drew told her. "This is important for me to know about with you."
"Sorry…" Tears squeezed through her lashes.
Drew squeezed her gently and pressed soft kisses to her cheeks. "It's okay, love. We'll get through this together. Just like we always do."
Calli peeked at him. "Really?'
"Really, really."
The Goth yawned and snuggled closer to him. "After cuddles."
Drew chuckled. "Yes, after cuddles."
OOOOOOOOOOO
Drew held his phone to his ear in the early morning hours while Calli slept. His boss picked up on the second ring.
"Drew, it's early. Shouldn't you be with your new bride, enjoying marital bliss?"
Drew sighed. "Paul…Calli's sick, really sick…"
Paul's voice lost the humorous tone. "What can we do to help?"
Drew took a deep breath. "Put me on leave…indefinitely. This is a battle I'm not letting her face alone."
OOOOOOOOOOOOOO
A/N: I…I did that. Yeah um…bye!- Scarlet
