Chapter 13- a VIOLENT glaucous macaw
Somewhere else in the Spix tribe's territory, this time close to the boundary of the mixed-species tribe, Bia was on an outing with one of her younger brothers Neptune. She was giving the Blu lookalike with green eyes a lesson in nature like how Sheldon did his group with the pupa. However, this time it was a hibiscus flower for Bia was giving Neptune a pollination lesson. Like Sheldon, Bia was sketching the flower and she had a set of drawing pencils, a drawing pad and a small bum bag or fanny pack tied around her waist to carry her supplies unlike Sheldon who preferred a leaf bag for his. While drawing the hibiscus, Bia explained the flower parts to Neptune.
"That long middle part is called the stigma," she said as she stroked her pencil over the drawing to draw said part, "it is where pollen particles stick. Once they are on the stigma, they then enter an opening and travel down the filament into the flower where they will meet and fertilise some eggs which will then develop into seeds."
Neptune partially listened to Bia's lesson and released a yawn. It was clear that he was finding his older sister's lesson in flower anatomy and pollination boring. His science interests were more tailed towards space than biology and nature which was a bit of a surprise. Bia continued nonetheless. "So in order for the hibiscus flower to receive pollen from another hibiscus flower, it must have help from a flying animal. That helper is called a pollinator. That pollinator can be a bee or a small bird..."
Neptune, a bored and half asleep look on his face, continued to reluctantly listen to Bia's explanation of pollination. "And to lure in a pollinator, the flower advertises to it that it has food, for example nectar for a bee. Then the bee sees the flower, visits it and sips the nectar. As it visits the flower, a powder of pollen rubs off from the anthers onto its body. Then the bee, after finishing its fill on one flower, will fly off to another flower and drink the nectar from that bloom. In the process, the pollen it had inadvertently collected will rub off from its body onto the stigma of that flower..."
"So... the pollen goes from one flower to the next... by hitching a ride on a bee, sis?" squeaked Neptune with partial interest.
"Kind of," said Bia, "It is VERY important that these flowers like the hibiscus have help from certain animals to carry their pollen between them. Otherwise, no help, no pollination; no pollination, no fertilisation of the eggs within the flowers, and no fertilisation, no seeds; and no seeds, no new plants and the plant population faces dying off."
Neptune maintained his bored, half-asleep look.
"Ah," he said with some understanding. Bia then gazed at her younger brother's bored look.
"Nature is not your subject is it?" she asked. Neptune gazed at her with half-asleep eyes.
"Your biggest area of scientific interest is the night sky, isn't it?" asked Bia. Neptune slowly nodded to which his older sister's beak formed a smile. "Okay, once it gets dark, our parents' permitting, we'll go out on a stargazing trip, okay?"
That perked Neptune up and his bored look flashed to one of excitement. Then the two siblings prepared their return trip to the ravine, the home of the Spix macaw tribe but before the pair could make the liftoff flap, a macaw suddenly appeared in front of them, making them stop. This macaw, which was a female, was roughly Bia's age for she was much bigger than Neptune. At first, Bia thought she was a Spix macaw but then she noticed that this newcomer had a grey-white head and blue feathers and yellow eye rings and a beak lappet. These features were of a glaucous macaw and for a second Bia thought this macaw was Sapphire, one of Sirius and Samara's daughters but then she noticed that this glaucous macaw had very long head feathers untied into a ponytail unlike Sapphire. Furthermore, those feathers were tipped turquoise instead of blue and her eyes were a shade of cyan, unlike Sapphire's eyes which were green like Carla's. However, those eyes were not at all full of brightness and friendship as Bia would expect from a glaucous macaw, even a teen for glaucous macaws had roughly the same time length of chick-hood as Spix macaws, but this glaucous macaw was NOT from the clan of glaucous macaws that had chosen to move in with Augustus and Melissa's large mixed-species tribe, that clan being led by Rodrigo and his mate Céu, the parents of Neytiri who was their daughter and was dating one of Sapphire's brothers Tristan. Those cyan eyes were full of BITTER malice, liquid nitrogen-level of coldness and hatred as corrosive as hydrochloric acid, the latter two human things Bia was familiar with. That caustic glare made Neptune utter a timid whimper and hide behind his older sister. Then before Bia, as recognition of the macaw took hold, opened her beak to question the bird, that macaw spoke, her voice tone as cold and corrosive as her glare.
"Well, well, well, if it ain't the nerd bird mud-pet an' daughter of the mud-pet Spix macaw who is th' son-in-law of Eddie," the glaucous macaw crooned nastily. Bia's face creased into a scowl.
"What are you doing here, Katrina!?" demanded the middle-born daughter of Blu and Jewel's first brood while the middle-born son of the same couple's second brood continued to cower behind his older sister, clearly intimidated by the hostile glaucous macaw, "I thought you were supposed with your parents Rudi and Tremaine in your area and NOT here."
This glaucous macaw was Katrina and she shared the name of one of the new puppies of Milo and Ellie, the Dalmatian friends of Blu and company in Rio. However, unlike that puppy who was kind and friendly, this glaucous macaw was vicious, malicious and nasty and I'm sorry to say that she was NOT just a bully who makes nasty, demeaning remarks about other macaws and animals. This glaucous macaw Katrina was WAY worse than that. Then the vicious glaucous macaw's cyan eyes found the drawing pad in Bia's talons but the moment they landed on that human object, revulsion flared within them.
"What a FILTHY piece of mud-pet dung, mud-pet girl," she growled, her long head feathers flaring out a bit. Like certain macaws who had long head feathers like Roberto and Samara, Katrina's head feathers flared whenever her temper did. "Why would you bring THAT thing into the pristine jungle!?" then a sneering and condescending look formed on Katrina's face, pulling her beak up into a nasty smile as she eyed Bia in an 'I'm better than you' way, "I get it. You take after your father, that slug-brained mud-pet dung heap," her eyes then travelled to Neptune who winced and quivered, "An' if THAT little runt behind you is another of that dung heap's chicks, I wouldn't be surprised if he shared the same dung mud-pet traits as him."
Then Bia gently and quietly told Neptune to get some distance while her wing reached for a large leaf shaped like a cup and holding some rainwater. She then picked it and put the lip of the leaf-cup to her beak to sip some of the rainwater to show disinterest to Katrina's caustic and vile remarks about her father Blu. However, she was also doing this as a distraction to keep Katrina's attention on her while Neptune flitted away to a safe distance from the hostile and potentially dangerous glaucous macaw. After all, her parents Blu and Jewel had entrusted Neptune's safety to Bia and Bia knew that if Neptune EVER got hurt or if ANYTHING happened to him, things will NOT be very good for her when the pair got home. Bia continued her distraction.
"An' YOU shouldn't EVEN be here anyway, Katrina, as I've said," the second chick of Blu and Jewel spoke, her glare turned away from the hostile glaucous macaw and her beak briefly puckered to sip some of the rainwater from the cup-like leaf, "I just hope that you would obey the rules our groups made between us and stay in YOUR area rather than intrude here and cause trouble. I HONESTLY hate to think what sorta stupid stuff you get up to, but that's none of my business," she then took another sip without looking at Katrina. Katrina's nasty glare flashed to an angry scowl.
"Stupid stuff?" the glaucous macaw hissed in a low voice, before that voice raised from that to an angry grumble to a snarl, "I think the only stupid stuff around 'ere is YOU mud-pets bringin' in those DUNG MUD-PET STUFF into the jungle from the REGIONS OF THEM TWO-LEGGED, HEAD-HEADED DESTROYERS known to ALL US animals as HUMANS!"
Opposite the pair, Neptune perched and hid in a cluster of leaves, waiting for Bia to pick him up. He quivered as Katrina continued spitting her scathing remarks at his older sister about people and 'mud-pets' (the word that Katrina's clan of glaucous macaws, the OTHER flock of macaws led by Rudi and his new mate that is, used as an anti-pet slur against animals that had associated themselves in humans in ANY way, but especially as pets).
"The jungle has NO place for filthy, lower-than-dirt mud-pets OR their offspring and relatives, DID YA KNOW THAT, SLUG-BRAIN!?" Bia then nonchalantly placed the leaf-cup onto the branch, checked her fanny pack and drawing pad and took off in Neptune's direction, calling his name. Neptune immediately left his hiding spot and followed his older sister. Katrina, however, followed the brother and sister and continued to vomit venom at them like a spitting cobra. "Wild-born animals are FAR superior in the rainforest to those born in those two-legged destroyers' places. The place for YOU mud-pets is the mouths and bellies of the rainforest's predators, be it the jaws of a crocodile or jaguar, the coils of an anaconda, a lake full of hungry piranha or the butcherin' talons an' beak of a certain King of the Rainforest Skies..."
Bia and Neptune continued to fly on without flashing a single glance back at the vile-beaked glaucous macaw intruder and continued flying on. Neptune was riding on Bia's back for he was too small to out-fly a teen glaucous macaw unlike his teen sister. Then Katrina entered into a sequence of descriptions of how she would like to see 'mud-pets' meet their demises at the clutches of the various predators of the Amazon rainforest, descriptions that I will NOT put down in writing for they were too gory and graphic. However, these descriptions were also NOT suitable for the ears of young Neptune either and Bia, hearing these, picked up the pace of her flight, Neptune clinging onto her back firmly to avoid slipping off. Katrina, however, also accelerated and soon, the two female teen macaws were flying quite fast through the canopy, the desperation to get little Neptune to the safety of a small group of Spix macaws and their visitors and the hope that one was nearby welling and boiling within Bia, causing the urge to panic to threaten to erupt. However, she kept her composure and focussed on getting Neptune to safety, the little chick clearly disturbed by the vomit that spewed out of Katrina's beak and the rotten glaucous macaw's behaviour. But as Bia's urge to panic reached critical, so did Katrina's volcanic temper. Seeing that her projectile vomit of threats was falling on deaf ears, the rotten glaucous macaw changed tactics.
Bia continued to fly fast through the jungle with Neptune clinging tightly to her back and her talons clutching her drawing pad to stop it from falling through the canopy. After all, that pad contained drawings of different plants and animals in the jungle and Bia had also drawn pictures of her family and friend group members including Neptune, Arrokoth and Chrysocolla shortly after their hatching in her parents' nest, Ashoka cradling Ganymede and Gordie shortly after their birth when she and her family went to visit the mixed-species tribe's territory to witness the birth of Orion and Ahsoka's fourth and fifth pups (back then thought to be the fourth pup until it was revealed Asoka had been carrying twins after going into labour again after birthing one of them), and also Finnick and Lavendulan cradled in Brisa's wings at Roberto's family's tree. There were also drawings of Felipe and Pearl's chicks Luca, Realgar and Spinel at their nest. Because of all these drawings, Bia's drawing pad was not only a collection of the plants and animals she had sketched, but also a photo album of her family and group and Bia did NOT want to lose this precious book.
As Bia continued to fly on, she flashed a look behind her to see if Katrina was still following her but when she saw no-one there, she breathed a sigh of relief. However, that moment of relief was immediately shattered when a feathery comet appeared out of nowhere and bashed into the Spix macaw's chest, just under her left wing, HARD. A squawk of pain and surprise exploded from Bia's beak as she was sent into a flapping plummet from the impact from Katrina as the NASTY glaucous macaw had deliberately rammed herself in to the Spix macaw. In the process, Neptune was thrown off of Bia's back and sent crashing onto another branch, chirps of fright and stun erupting from his beak. The little Spix macaw chick called for his sister until he found himself cloaked in a shadow. Neptune, noticing this, looked up but to his UTMOST despair and fright, it was not his sister Bia, but the wicked and psychotic Katrina, the glaucous macaw's face contorted into a look of wicked glee and thrill as she enjoyed the little Spix macaw's terror. Immediately, Neptune scrabbled back from the glaucous macaw as she advanced towards him, his green eyes inflated with terror and his beak emitting frightened chirps and cried for Bia to help him. Bia, after recovering herself from Katrina's SAVAGE tackle into her side to knock her out of the air and clutching her precious drawing pad, flapped back up into the air and began to look for Neptune until she heard frightened chirps and squeaky shouts of her name. Immediately, the Spix macaw shot gazes this way and that until her eyes landed on a blue and grey form as it slightly opened its wings on a certain branch. Immediately and with a FLASH of HOT anger flaring within her like a cloud of gasoline gas igniting, Bia clutched her book and surged towards that form which was Katrina, knowing that in that same location was her little brother.
Neptune continued to back away from Katrina until he braced himself against the vertical trunk of the tree where the branch joined at the node and quivered at the glaucous monster as she released cackles of rotten enjoyment at his fright. Then what Katrina did next was unthinkable and an action that could land her in SERIOUS trouble with Neptune and Bia's parents, especially their mother. Raising one of her talons and flaring the claws on it to Neptune's fright, Katrina, without hesitation, brought them on the little Spix macaw. Screams of pain erupted from the little Spix macaw chick as Katrina's claws carved a claw mark on his left shoulder. Then Neptune exploded into a crying fit and clutched his clawed shoulder to Katrina's sickening thrill and she raised her talon and flared its claws again to further intimidate the chick. However, before Katrina could lash at Neptune and attack him again for the thrill of it, something struck the psychotic glaucous macaw HARD in the right side of her head. Katrina's vision was plunged into a sea of stars as daze struck at the moment of impact and her sense of balance was thrown out of whack. The objects of her world then began to blur and mush together into a messy moving picture, the stars still dancing in her vision. Then Katrina's balance became unable to keep her body on the branch and the glaucous macaw fell off. Instinctively, the glaucous macaw began to flap to pull her out of the fall but Katrina's flapping was clumsy and chaotic as her balance struggled to regain its composure. From the branch, Bia looked down, her talons clutching her drawing pad and her eyes blazing hazel-coloured fire without any HINT of sympathy or pity for the glaucous macaw as she struggled to regain her balance, clumsily hitting some more branches and clutching the right side of her head in pain. Bia had flowing in and had whacked Katrina HARD on the right side of her head when she saw her threatening her little brother Neptune. Then once the vicious glaucous macaw was out of the way, Bia hastily packed her drawing pad into her fanny pack to free her talons, seized Neptune with them and flapped off like a cerulean comet. As she flew off, Katrina, though still dizzy, shot her a vitriolic glare. One of her talons clutched the right side of her head where Bia had struck her with her note pad. The impact was so forceful that there was no doubt that a massive bruise was going to form there.
"You're gonna PAY FOR THAT, MUD-PET (BLEEP)!" she screeched, the whites of her eyes flaring red as her temper exploded.
Bia then stopped to shoot Katrina an unsympathetic and unremorseful glare. It was the look of 'you got what you deserved' glare for her threatening of her little brother. However, she hadn't noticed that Neptune had been scratched by the glaucous macaw and he was weeping in his big sister's talons.
"Go back to your area, Katrina. You don't belong here," Bia simply said and with that, she turned round and flew away. However, Bia and Neptune were not out of the woods with the violent glaucous macaw yet. Her temper now erupting VIOLENTLY and after recovering from her daze inflicted on her by Bia, Katrina launched into flight in pursuit of the pair, determined to give them a BRUTAL piece of her mind and she was going to do that physically, REGARDLESS of whether she was going to land in trouble or not this time.
Once again, Bia continued to fly on at high speed, her talons clutching the frightened and weeping Neptune this time (she still hadn't noticed the scratch Katrina had given her little brother still). The desperation to get herself and Neptune to safety was erupting violently now. After all, Katrina was a VERY dangerous glaucous macaw who was extremely prone to violence but her clashing with Bia and Neptune had not been the first time. She once got into an altercation with some silver bat-birds, among them Alexandre who was part of Carla and company's friend circle and she injured him pretty badly. He was still back in the mixed-species tribe's home forest recovering from her attack on him but his family and clan had been UTTERLY outraged at what she had done to the poor young bat-bird. Some silver bat-birds and Augustus had confronted Rudi and his mate Tremaine over their daughter's behaviour but apparently, nothing had been done and Katrina, together with some other glaucous macaws from Rudi's clan, were still out causing trouble but that's not all as we'll see later. And Katrina was back, this time her violent eyes set on Bia and Neptune and she was pursuing them relentlessly. Bia continued flying on, shouting for help but suddenly, a comet, that same blue and grey form, appeared and tackled into her, striking from above this time. Additionally, this was not just a violent tackle attack, but a pounce and Katrina plunged herself onto Bia and the moment she connected, her wings were thrown onto the Spix macaw's neck as she began to throttle her. Katrina's pounce threw Neptune from Bia's talons and he managed to pull himself out of careening into a tree nearby by flapping. However, his flight was a bit clumsy as the scratch Katrina had inflicted on his left shoulder caused him pain but thankfully, he was still able to fly. As Neptune slowed to a hover and gazed at his sister, horror and terror exploded within him as a brawl exploded between her and the savage glaucous macaw.
Katrina, her temper finally erupting full-throttle, threw claw-flared talon swipes at Bia but the Spix macaw countered by dodging and parrying some with wing-slaps. However, she soon found herself to be doing it in vain as Katrina, her eyes blazing cyan fire with a thirst for blood, managed to land her first claw mark on Bia's right wing, shearing out some cerulean feathers in the process. Flashing a look at Neptune hovering some distance away, Bia screeched to him as she desperately tried to defend herself from the savage glaucous macaw and her claw swipes and bite attacks.
"NEPTUNE, GET HELP... AAAAAARRRGGGH!" the Spix macaw screamed as her vicious glaucous macaw opponent clamped her beak HARD onto the arm part of her left wing, her other wing. Immediately, Bia raised her claws and raked them down Katrina's front to get her to release her wing but that only spurred the bloodthirsty glaucous macaw on and she pounced onto Bia. Neptune hovered there, his eyes on the brawl between his sister and the glaucous macaw intruder as blue and cerulean feathers flew everywhere from them, hesitant at first as he wanted to help his sister get free but then he realised he would not be able to stand a chance against the savage glaucous macaw. Immediately, he made his decision and rocketed off into the trees in obedience to Bia's orders. Bia tried firing talon punches at Katrina but the bloodthirsty glaucous macaw only deflected them with wing swipes. However, in a brief flash of VOLCANIC anger, the Spix macaw managed to land one on the glaucous macaw's chest, knocking her back. Immediately seizing the opportunity to escape, Bia flapped to do so but then the blue and grey bird, her feral temper and determination to see her Spix macaw opponent reduced to a bloodied mess fuelling her, suddenly recovered and pounced onto her again. Bia was reluctant to become violent and was especially reluctant to draw blood but if the need was necessary, especially when herself or her friends and family were threatened for no reason at all, then so be it. However, Katrina was FAR too violent and powerful for the Spix macaw to deal with and soon, Bia was fighting a losing battle, especially now that Katrina's rational thinking was beginning to become eclipsed by her anger and insatiable desire to see blood.
Katrina threw Bia violently onto another branch and then threw claw swipe after claw swipe at her with some of them hitting her in the face and chest and carving more claw marks on those areas. Bia desperately tried to shield herself with her wings but Katrina only raked her claws over them as well. Bia then tried to flee again but Katrina lunged at her, charged into her and had her pinned against the trunk with a talon to the neck, that talon holding Bia's neck in a grip similar to a human's hand in a chokehold. This made Bia's wings rush to the talon as the Spix macaw's breathing was cut off but Katrina only tightened her grip on her neck HARDER. She then channelled EVERY ounce of her strength generated from her feral, rabid FURY and barbaric bloodlust into her talon chokehold such that her nemesis was rendered unable to breathe. Bia's wings gripped on Katrina's death-grip and her eyes bulged out of her sockets, her beak wide open but no air entering in or out for she could not breathe. THIS was a critical moment that help should be arriving by now as Bia's life was now on the line.
This was why Katrina was NOT just a nasty bully who loves to lacerate other macaws and animals' esteems through blade-like words. She was EXTREMELY violent, barbaric, sadistic and psychotic and was ALWAYS out looking to cause brutal fights. Every fight and altercation she had EVER got herself into with other animals had ALWAYS had blood drawn and as mentioned before, her opponents always came away with NASTY injuries like Alexandre with his. But now, Katrina was taking her love for violence to the next level and what she was doing here was a SERIOUS alarm call. Katrina continued to hold her chokehold firmly on Bia's neck, the Spix macaw's movements beginning to slow as her body became deprived of oxygen. Despite her lungs' screams that Bia breathe, she could not and each time she struggled to get a breath, Katrina only tightened her grip on her neck, her cyan eyes blazing with UTMOST psychotic and murderous thrill as her foe's consciousness began to slowly slip away. Bia's vision began to blur, one of her eyes fixed on her torturer's sadistic and maniacal face as she enjoyed every MOMENT of her desperation for air. If nothing was done now, it will be all over for Bia. However, much needed help for the Spix macaw in her DIRE situation was about to arrive, and JUST in time as well.
Neptune returned, flying as fast as his little wings would allow him and despite his scratched left shoulder. Behind him was a group of macaws and a flying fox; Acerola, Charlotte, Eustace, Tristan, Levi and Virgil and also Azul, Turquesa who was expert patrol macaw Maximillian's daughter, and Neytiri. These three were dating Charlotte, Eustace and Tristan respectively. Also present were Wilbur the teen Cuban red macaw and son of one of Orion's childhood macaw friends Cersei who was also a widow. As the small flock of five Spix macaws, three glaucous macaws, a Cuban red macaw and Amazon flying fox followed little Neptune to the area where Katrina had Bia in her death grip, one of the Spix macaws and who was Bia's new date since Raul abandoned her, Virgil, shot his alarmed and worried gaze in the direction of two certain macaws. The moment he saw the savage glaucous macaw who should NOT be here with his girlfriend in her death grip and cackling evilly, a HUGE volcanic ash plume EXPLODED within the fourth chick of Aurora and Zephyr. Without hesitation, Virgil propelled himself at EVEN higher speed towards Katrina, his eyes blazing blue-green fire and the moment he was near the barbaric glaucous macaw, he bashed into her HARD and knocked her away from Bia. Katrina's chokehold of death released from her neck, Bia limply flopped down onto the branch like a clump of wet mud and long grass as Katrina and an EXTREMELY ENRAGED Virgil careened from that branch onto another one below.
"BIIIIAAA!" Bia's name exploded from Charlotte's beak as she and the other ten including Neptune appeared and gathered around her, their faces plastered with UTMOST horror. Neytiri and Acerola immediately seized Bia and began to check her, fearing the worst. Suddenly, a volcanic eruption-like screech exploded from below.
Virgil, mist as red as Ruby's feathers smothering his vision, gave Katrina a MASSIVE barrage of talon-fists. Katrina tried to deflect these attacks from her new opponent but because he was so FURIOUS with her and quicker, she had little chance this time. Virgil continued to beat and batter Katrina without even giving her time to recover. He struck her face and body over and over again with talon fists before finally adding claw swipes into the mix and he went at it FULL THROTTLE. Katrina's screeches of agony erupted as Virgil's claw swipes slashed over her plumage, drawing out lush blue feathers and inflicting nasty claw marks. One of his claw swipes struck her forehead when she tried to shoot him a murderous glare and that swipe inflicted a NASTY set of tiger stripes. Katrina jerked her head to the left and clasped her face with her wings, screams of pain erupted from her beak and blood trickling through her feathers but Virgil continued his relentless attack. He tackled into her and knocked her down before pouncing onto her and biting her with his beak. He was SO FURIOUS at Katrina for what she had tried to do to Bia that he had practically lost ALL thought and control and he made sure that EVERY single claw swipe he threw at her struck their target without missing.
While Virgil continued savagely attacking Katrina, on the branch above, hysteria was erupting. Charlotte was doing chest compressions on Bia and resuscitating her while the others looked on. Neptune was having a panic attack and shaking, fearing the worst while Tristan, Levi, Azul, Turquesa, Eustace, Neytiri and Wilbur looked on in UTMOST angst. Acerola was trying to shake Bia awake between Charlotte's CPR episodes.
"BIA," called the flying fox in desperation, tears streaming down her furry brown cheeks, "BIA, WAKE UP!"
"Her parents are gonna..." whispered Neytiri with dread.
"Guys, Neptune has a scratch on his shoulder," called Turquesa. The attention of all but Acerola and Charlotte who continued their CPR on the unconscious and battered Bia was pulled to the little Spix macaw chick as he tearfully revealed his clawed shoulder. OUTRAGE tore through the group when they noticed this.
"WHO did that to you!?" demanded Eustace, "WHO GAVE YOU THAT SCRATCH on your SHOULDER!?"
Neptune was about to reply when Katrina's MASSIVE screeches of agony erupted from below. The group except Acerola and Charlotte went over to the edge of the branch and gazed down at the savage brawl between Virgil and Katrina as the former continued to savagely claw and beat the latter.
"VIRGIL!" yelled Azul in rebuke that Virgil stop his savage attack on Katrina but the Spix macaw was too blinded by a pyroclastic cloud of red mist to listen at first. He then lunged at the clawed and bloodied Katrina as she tried to flap away and clamped his beak onto her tail feathers. EVEN LOUDER screams of agony erupted from Katrina's beak as SEARING pain ripped through her tail area as her feathers were pulled and she continued to flap like mad to escape Virgil's grip.
"VIRGIL, STOOOOOP!" screeched Eustace, Levi, Neytiri and Tristan together. Virgil then deliberately jerked his head in the opposite direction to Katrina's flight path. In the process, a sickening rip sounded as Katrina's tail feathers gripped in Virgil's beak were torn from the glaucous macaw, making the glaucous macaw screech even LOUDER and flap away, two more tail feathers drifting away in her wake. Virgil then spat the clump of blue tail feathers before turning and tackling into the beaten and severely pained Katrina. Eustace and Levi were about to fly at Virgil to restrain him but when they saw that he only had the intruding glaucous macaw and Bia's attempted murderer pinned against another tree branch with both talons to the neck to restrain her, they stopped. However, Eustace and Levi flew over to the pair with Neytiri, Tristan and Wilbur. As the five left, gasps of air and a series of coughs exploded from a certain macaw.
"BIA!" cried Charlotte and Acerola's voices. Eustace, Levi, Neytiri, Tristan and Wilbur flashed a look at the CPR scene and to their UTMOST gladness and relief; they saw Bia, after gasping and coughing to recover from Katrina's death-chokehold, gripped in the wings of Charlotte and Acerola in a relieved hug, Neptune joining in. However, the relief had to wait. There was one thing they had to do first. Pulling their gaze from Bia's revival from her unconsciousness from oxygen deprivation due to Katrina's deliberate grip on her neck, the five flew over to Virgil as he had Katrina by the neck with his talons, an ironic twist for the murderous glaucous macaw. His red mist had cleared somewhat but he wanted to throttle her for almost killing Bia. However, he restrained himself. Katrina, the claw marks on her forehead sending several blood rivulets running down her face and her wings gripping Virgil's talon chokehold, looked up warily and in pain from her claw marks and torn tail Virgil had given her. Because Virgil had ripped out so many of her tail feathers, Katrina was now nearly tailless with only one or two short feathers left. Behind Virgil, three certain macaws who were the same species as Katrina looked on with glares showing UTMOST stun, disgust and outrage in different forms; Neytiri was FURIOUS while Levi and Tristan were also shedding tears. Katrina was related to these two and also Aiden and Phoebe (Levi's siblings) and Sapphire, Trixie and Quincy (the three siblings of Tristan). Katrina was one of the daughters of Rudi and Rudi was the brother of Antares, the father of Levi and his brother and sister, and the cousin of Samara, the mother of Tristan and his two sisters and brother. That made Katrina a cousin of Tristan and his three siblings and second cousin to Levi and his two siblings. This was why the two male glaucous macaws were in a flood of tears: one of their own BLOOD RELATIVES would DO such a MURDEROUS thing to Bia. Eustace and Wilbur, however, just wore glares of UTMOST rage as they hovered near the three glaucous macaws. On the branch, Charlotte, Azul and Turquesa took Bia and Neptune to one side to treat some of the former's claw marks and tend to the latter who was shaken from the whole ordeal while Acerola dropped into flight and joined the macaws to confront Katrina.
Ignoring the devastated looks on one of her cousins and one of her second cousins and their friends, Katrina gazed into the wrathful blue-green eyes of Virgil with genuine fear and wariness. She knew that if she made one wrong move, Virgil will no doubt and without hesitation give her another savage claw swipe.
"Please, listen to me," she begged the FURIOUS Spix macaw but Virgil refused to show ANY mercy whatsoever. Tightening his grip on Katrina's neck, he snarled like an ENRAGED jaguar.
"Are you KIDDIN' ME, you BARBARIC SNAKE!?" he growled, "YOU NEARLY KILLED ONE OF UNCLE BLU AND AUNTIE JEWEL'S DAUGHTERS!"
"I-I-I was just..." Katrina stuttered but then Neytiri flew in closer.
"So you decided to come here from your land AGAINST the RULES and THE TRUCE our LEADERS MADE when you MOVED INTO THE SANCTUARY to cause trouble and ATTEMPT to KILL one of the DAUGHTERS of the SPIX MACAW TRIBE'S LEADERS IN TRAINING, EH!?" she screeched angrily and in disgust.
"HOW could you, Katrina!?" sobbed Levi, tears streaming down his cheeks, "HOW COULD YOU!?"
Tristan also sobbed in heartbreak over Katrina's actions. Katrina tried to concoct some excuses but Virgil only tightened his talon-grip on her neck to the point of making breathing difficult for her. Charlotte then came in, leaving Bia and Neptune in the care of Azul and Turquesa for the pair was too frightened to join the confrontation. OUTRAGE was blazing on Virgil's sister's face.
"You know, there was once a VIOLENT hurricane that shares YOUR name that wrought TOTAL destruction and CARNAGE in North America," snarled she, "And YOU, Katrina, ARE LIKE THAT HURRICANE... VIOLENT, SAVAGE, BARBARIC... and INCREDIBLY BLOODTHIRSTY!"
"No wonder Alexandre, one of our main silver bat-bird friends cannot be with US because of YOU!" put in Acerola.
"Guys, Katrina clawed me over shoulder too," squeaked Neptune, pulling everyone's gaze to the little blue chick. THAT sent rage tearing through the group including Bia. However, she kept her distance from Katrina.
"Katrina did WHAT!?" screeched Azul. Then OUTRAGED glares converged on Katrina once again and Virgil began shaking Katrina by the neck to throttle her.
"Why you TRECHEROUS TARANTULA!" screeched the electric blue Spix macaw but before he could throttle her REAL good, Charlotte screeched at him to stop, forcing Virgil to stop shaking Katrina by the neck. However, under her beak, she managed to form a small smirk. In reality, she was not ONE BIT guilty over clawing Neptune on the shoulder or strangling Bia to near death. And she did NOT care one bit despite being the focal point of volcanic glares from the flock of macaws and the flying fox, especially the electric blue one who still had her by the neck and could violently throttle her at any moment.
"You are SO DEAD, Katrina," said Azul in a voice of anger and dread, and he shuddered.
"ESPECIALLY AT the claws of MRS JEWEL, MR BLU and MR EDUARDO when they see THESE wounds on them AND hear what you attempted to do to Bia," put in Wilbur. The others just glared at the savage glaucous macaw but said nothing for the moment. Katrina gazed at them including Virgil who still had her in his chokehold and poised to throttle herany time again for a moment, but then, to the UTMOST disgust of the group, instead of a remorseful look appearing on her face, a wicked and EXTREMELY sadistic smirk showed itself as the glaucous macaw showed the group that she really meant to do those HORRID things to Bia and her little brother and she even released a brief snicker. Then Charlotte and Eustace flew in, seeing that clear sign of the glaucous macaws remorselessness.
"At least my brother here has saved Auntie Jewel the hassle of givin' ya a GOOD HIDIN', you BEASTLY BRAT!" the former yelled. Katrina winced from the pain of her claw marks and her torn and tattered tail and shot Charlotte a spiteful look.
"Yeah," put in Eustace, "An' I hope the AGONY you suffered from our brother's WRATH for ALMOST STRANGLING BIA to DEATH will teach ya a JOLLY good LESSON about MESSIN' with the WRONG MACAWS, especially if it is for NO REASON WHATSOEVER!" Katrina's spiteful glare turned to him. However, Virgil tightened his grip on the glaucous macaw's neck to restrain her from EVEN insulting his brother and sister. Then there was a tense atmosphere hanging over the group for a few moments. Finally, it broke when Virgil forcefully released Katrina from his talons, throwing her into flight, a very clumsy one due to her claw marks and her missing tail Virgil had given her.
"Get out," he growled.
"JUST WAIT until MY PARENTS HEAR ABOUT..." screeched Katrina but Virgil flew in and tackled into the glaucous macaw to get her moving. The others looked on.
"GET YOURSELF OUTA HERE RIGHT NOW before I GIVE YA MORE CLAW MARKS an' PERHAPS TWO BROKEN WINGS as WELL, you SAVAGE, MURDEROUS GLAUCOUS JAGUAR!" screeched Virgil volcanically and threateningly, "I MEAN IT!"
Katrina glared at Virgil with a vitriolic scowl as Charlotte, Eustace, Neytiri, Tristan and Levi flew in and reinforced Virgil's threat by flaring their talon claws. Finally Katrina relented and began to clumsily and painfully fly off in the direction of her clan's territory, where she SHOULD belong. However, she issued the group a caustic parting shot.
"Father an' Mother WILL do sommat about this, you VILE dung (bleeps)," she screeched, "An' BOY will they be FURIOUS!"
Suddenly, a screech exploded from Acerola's mouth and the large brown bat charged at Katrina to get her moving under the threat of another savage attack, only stopping when Katrina resumed her clumsy flight through the trees. Acerola then rejoined her macaw friends and together she, Charlotte, Tristan, Levi, Virgil, Azul, Turquesa, Neytiri, Wilbur and Eustace flew off with Bia and Neptune in the direction of the Spix tribe's ravine. They dreaded the reaction of their parents and company, especially Blu, Jewel and Eduardo when they heard what had happened to those two macaws, but they knew they had to tell them and they planned on doing that the moment they arrived back at the ravine.
