Light was more than nervous. He was about to share a secret he'd been keeping from his family for years, now.
Well, that wasn't entirely true. He wasn't even sure about himself. Until he met someone special.
Ryuzaki (otherwise known at L), sat next to him on his parents' couch. L seemed to sense Light's nervousness and placed a kiss on his cheek.
"It'll be alright, Light-kun," L whispered softly.
Light smiled and returned the gesture.
Then Light's sister, Sayu, entered the room.
Light pushed L away.
Sayu smiled and held in a giggle.
"What's so funny?" Light asked, crossley.
"Nothing!" Sayu said.
Sachiko, Light's mom, entered the room. She brought in dessert.
L saw a chocolate cake and dug in. He ate as quick as a pig.
"Wow! I've never met anyone who enjoyed my cooking so much!" Sachiko said in delight.
"Do you have any coffee?" L asked.
"Why, sure!" and then Sachiko left for a bit.
Then Soichiro, Light's father entered the house after a long day at work on another case.
"Ah! Ryuzaki! Light! You're both here!" Soichiro said to them. "Now, what about this family meeting you wanted to discuss with us? And why is Ryuzaki here for it?"
Light dug his fingers into the couch. "Let's wait for Mom."
Sachiko entered the room with coffee and sugar.
L dumped lump after lump into his coffee. Light ignored him.
"You know how I left the Kira Case a few weeks ago?"
"Not to mention "munch* Kira's stopped killing criminals," L said between sugar bites.
"And before we go any further. Mom. Sayu. This is Ryuzaki. He-"
"I'm L," L blurted out.
Sayu and Sachiko were taken a back.
"What?!" they both yelled.
"RYUZAKI?!" Light yelled.
L pointed his stirring spoon at Light. "We shouldn't keep secrets from the rest of the family."
"But we've done it so far," Light said.
"What do you mean?" Soichiro asked.
Light looked at L. L looked at Light.
"Mom. Dad. Sayu," Light said. "This is L, Ex-Head of the Kira case. And he's my fiance."
Soichiro was just as shocked as Sayu and Sachiko.
"L-Light. You're gay?" asked Soichiro.
"But you've always dated women!" Sachiko yelled.
"Actually, I think I'm bi. Or pan. Besides, it doesn't matter what I am, just that we're in love," Light said.
Sayu burst out laughing.
"Sayu! Why are you acting like this? This is serious!" Light complained.
Sayu wiped a laughing tear out of her eye. "Sorry, Light, but I was expecting this! I caught you two kissing just now!"
"Laughing at your brother because he's gay is just terrible," said L.
"I'm not!" said Sayu. "I'm laughing because you tried to hide it!"
Sayu ran into another laughing fit. "I'm jealous of you, Light! Dad won't let me date!"
"Keep it up and you never will!" Soichiro yelled.
Sayu rolled her eyes. "So, what about Misa?" Sayu asked.
"I turned her down gently," said Light. "but I promised we'd still be friends."
"I guess I won't get a daughter-in-law, now," Soichiro said.
"But you already have grandkids,"' L said with a wink.
"I do?"' Soichiro said, dumbfounded.
Light pinched L.
"Ow!" said L.
"One thing at a time," Light whispered.
"Well, Light, I think that you and L are perfect for each other!" Soichiro said.
"Really?"
"You've both worked on cases in the past. You both are intellectuals. And as long as you're happy, nothing else matters." Soichiro said.
"I agree wholeheartedly," said Sachiko.
"Good luck, Bro!" Sayu punched the air.
And so, Light and L began to plan their wedding, and at long last, lived happily ever after.
