Episode One Part Two
I Choose You!
The room was dimly lit, with only the stars outside and the small lantern on the desk bringing light to the room.
On her ornate detailed wooden desk, Avery the Delphox was working through the many files of the crime syndicate Legartes. Their crimes were mostly just thievery, money laundering, manipulation of Guilds, and other various misdeeds. They mostly stayed within the Water and Grass Continent, not really branching out to other places.
God what am I going to do? I only know a few things about them but I can't exactly just send random teams to investigate. I think I might need to sleep over this. What's the time? She looked over the grandfather clock she once got as a gift from a very thankful Klefkey. It was twelve thirty seven. Yeah I should definitely sleep, but I'm not even tired.
Avery took a look around at the large office room she used for work. It was well kept with everything being neat and tidy.
In front of her desk was the entrance to the room and behind her was the large bay window with purple cushions and pillows with a pile of blankets to the side. She often slept there or slouched over the table.
On the left side of her desk was a large shelf with many different trinkets adorning it, along with books and files with their own individual levels. In the guild there is a document room but she barely used it due to laziness.
On the right side of the room was a hanging violin with many different photos displaying her many adventures with the Guild.
If I want to get tired I should probably just go walk around, but first… she went over to the self and carried the many different files of completed jobs, outlaws, and information only kept to Guildmasters and went to leave.
She was on the top floor of the Lively Guild where Mawile's archaeology study room was, Jirachi's planetarium, her and Pine's room, and the room she just came out of, the Guildmasters office.
The usually bustling and loud Guild was now quiet and empty. In order to keep everything still bright for whoever wants a midnight snack, who is hopefully not Slurpuff again, there were little lanterns hanging on the walls.
The guild was kind of designed as one large staircase with circular lobby's on the middle of each floor with two hallways parallel to each other.
On the first floor was the simple lobby, where there was a secretary counter that Meowstic would sit at on the side. In the hallways were the basic essentials of the Guild, the dining hall and kitchen where Lucario cooks at, the training area, the document room where Malamar works, the medical room taken care of by Primarina, and a waiting room for the clients.
On the second floor is mostly dorms for the teams, recently she got an extension by the Primeape Construction Company for the guild so they were able to get more people in. There are now fifty bedrooms, with twenty one of them being taken up by the teams. Along with the bedrooms are the bathrooms, showers, and a single large storage room.
In the middle of the second floor is the world map, and the post boards, two for outlaws, one for rescues, and one for the other stuff like getting items.
On the sides of the staircase leading up to the third floor are a set of smaller staircases on the sides with doors blocking them. The doors lead down to the cells underground, where they often keep people there for minor crimes, protection, specifically when people get drunk on the streets, or when they need to keep someone for a bit before sending them to the Magnezone prison. There would usually be two guards at each door, but Sodom is out and there's only one person down there, a very strange Absol grunt for Legartes.
She took a left turn at the bottom floor and strolled through the hallway into the document room. The room was just full of drawers and a large desk with two chairs on it. Hanging from the ceiling were two lanterns without a flame. Avery walked over to one and blew a little flame into the candle inside and the same to the other.
On the table she placed the pile of files. Wanting to apologize by adding some new work to Malamar's she took a pen with some ink, pulled out a scrap of paper and wrote on it: Sorry -Avery, then placed it at the top of the file.
Happy with the bit of work she did, that she basically just had to Malamar do, she went out of the room after blowing out the candles. Only to see a thinner than normal Charizard with a blanket covering most of the top of his body along with a small tote bag, trying to get into the Dining Hall.
He was struggling to open the door a bit so Avery took the pleasure of helping him.
"Hnng…" the charizard pushed into the door.
With a wave of her hand around the handle a soft purple glow grew, twisting the handle and with a click opening the door! While Charizard was pushing forward on the door, causing him to fall onto the floor.
"Ow, jeez. What happened?" Charizard said on the floor.
"Boo." Avery said.
"Oh, hey Avery," Charizard crouched off the floor to face her.
"Hey Sodom. How's the trip?"
"It was nice, spent most of the time in Treasure Town though looking through the shops. Really has grown a lot."
"Well that's nice, anyways you came for a midnight snack?" She pointed her stick wand at a bowl of berries on the table.
"Yeah."
"Here," a flowing line of glowing purple came out of the tip of the wand and over to a couple of Leppa berries causing some light to roll over them. Using her wand she moved them over to the front of Sodom.
"Oh, you remembered. Thank you," he plucked them out of the air and put them in his other hand to act as a bowl, while plopping one into his mouth.
"Of course I did, anyways you should take a rest, you've been traveling the whole day."
"I should, thank you. See you tomorrow, kind of. Goodnight," Sodom walked past the doorway into the hallway turning his head back to say night to Avery.
"I got some stuff to tell you in the morning, but good night." She waved goodbye to him. Sodom soon disappeared upstairs.
Well what to do now?
With perfect timing the connection orb inside her bag began to vibrate.
BZZZ! BZZZ!
Huh? I only use this for communication. These were too hard to get for an entire guild so not many people have one. The only people I know with these are Pine, myself, Sawsbuck, and Goodra. I should check it. She pulled the orb out of her bag and pressed a button on its front. A little light came out a small message from Goodra: Hello, sorry for the late thing it's just that we really need to ask you a favor.
Huh? She thought.
We would like to put up a job.
He was having a peaceful sleep. A dreamless wonderful moment where everything was just silent and still. That was until he was slapped across the face.
"Wake up Nathan!" Adrian said over him. The zoroark who rudely slapped him was wearing a yellow bandanna tied around her shoulder with a bronze guild badge on it, and had a little braid on the side of her head apart from the large mane of red hair tied with a pearl.
"Ow! Jeez, I'm waking up!" Nathan put a paw on his cheek and rubbed it, as if he could message the pain out. It was a fruitless effort.
"You weren't."
Nathan stood up from the "bed" which was basically a whole bunch of straw on the floor. Would've been nice if he had a mattress. He knows they could definitely make one with the cotton, probably. "Yeah, okay, fine, whatever. But why are we even in a rush?"
Adrian turned back to him and picked up the bag, Nathan's scarf and badge, and Poke sack, and handed him his scarf. "Pine."
A horrible flash of memory from his first day two weeks ago sent a ripple down his spine. "Actually, yeah, you are right. Should've been awake sooner."
Suddenly the door of the room creaked open and the head of a jovial Sceptile popped out. "Good morning! Seems like you two are awake, good job! Breakfast has been prepared by Lucario and Malamar so try to get in line as soon as you can. Toodles!" And the head popped right back into the hallway.
Adrian put on the bag and opened the door. "C'mon let's go. I don't want to wait in line again"
"Okay," Nathan followed her after taking a look at the mirror again. He was a short brown Evee, with the same yellow bandanna as Adrian. Just a totally normal Eevee, physically.
The two headed down the stairs along with four other teams that were already awake. From the distance he could hear a gong ring coming from the residential area.
The group of the four teams made it to the Dining hall. It was a long room with tables along benches and chairs spread out throughout the room. On the left side of the entrance there's a door that leads to the kitchen. On the left wall there's a crop out with a table connected to the wall with a bunch of plates, utensils, and the actual food being pancakes with many syrups and fruit slices on separate plates.
Everyone got into the line and grabbed a plate. Adrian had to get an extra plate for Nathan. The line was fast with everyone getting what they needed and greeting and thanking Lucario and Malamar who were preparing the food.
"Good morning Adrian. How was your rest? Oh and you too Nathan almost couldn't see you." Malamar greeted.
"Thank you for asking, it was good." Adrian replied.
Under his breath Nathan mumbled, "yeah, I'm short whatever."
"Anyways the option we have today for the toppings or spreads for the pancakes are some berry slices, oran, cheri, persim, and pecha berry jams too, along with butter, chocolate sauce, and maple syrup."
"Thank you. Nathan, what do you want?"
"Can I just get butter, and maple syrup on it?"
"Yeah, okay." Nathan couldn't see the top of the table without getting on his tippy toes or climbing onto it, which he was not going to do, but he could see Adrian spread some red jam over the pancake and put oran slices on it.
They walked over a circular wooden table that had some light from the window cover it and sat down.
I just realized that I shouldn't have gotten that syrup. God, now it's going to get my fur all sticky. Curse you thumbless paws and over parts of my body I'm not used to!
"Why are you looking so mad?" Adrian had her pancake kind of folded over itself like a taco.
"Are you seriously going to eat it that way?"
"What way?"
"That way." He pointed at it with both his paws and kind of just flopped them around.
"Oh this annoys you? Here," she took a sideways bit of her pancake and looked him straight in the eyes with a bright smile like a maniac.
"Why are you doing this to me?!"
"Because it's funny." She continued to eat the pancake. "But you want to know what's not funny, not eating. Which is something you're not doing, so eat up man."
"Fine." Due to how he couldn't exactly use a fork he held the bottom side of the pancake and folded it and ate it like a taco.
This is a crime.
As new drowsy teams trickled into the dining hall Nathan finished his pancake. Adrian took the plate and brought it over to the dirty plates and stuff bin and they made their way over to the job boards.
"Now what should we do today? Whatcha feeling Nathan?"
"I don't know, nothing here seems to be really interesting-" he said, searching the boards when something struck his eye. A strange outlaw job featuring a strange Pokémon he has never seen before with not a lot of details. "Oooohhhh, I actually think I have a good one." He pointed at the job post.
"Huh what is that?" She took the post of the board.
Strange Mystery Pokémon Found On Revelation Mountain
A strange unnamed Pokémon found on Revelation Mountain has harmed me and ran somewhere. They are somewhat hurt and they seem to be rather timid. Please be safe because we are not fully sure on the potential of this Pokémon. If you would like to know more information come to Serene Village and ask.
Client: Goodra
Rank: Most Likely B or A
Species: Unknown
Location: Unknown
"This is perfect!" Nathan exclaimed.
"It is?"
"Well yes! This would be an interesting job with the perk of making us have a better reputation in the guild. We could get so much more known.
"Is that the only reason you want to do this job?"
"Well no, helping people is cool too."
"Yes that definitely is cool, it's just that this is a slightly higher leveled job than most of the ones we've done, and we also don't even know who or where they are."
"Just think about it, this is a huge chance we could miss, if we just leave it someone else will."
"Okay then I guess, just to keep you happy."
"Then you are doing a great job!"
"Okay let's head down to the town to get stuff ready."
It was a bright and sunny day with no clouds in sight. Jezebel was insanely happy, happy that she could possibly have just found a brand new research subject, happy that the weather was beautiful, happy that Kecleon actually had the stuff she needed, and happy that everything was going well.
Aaron was currently watching over the subject after stalking them through the Open Pass while she went into Serene Village to go get supplies. It was mainly just some food from Kangaskhan's cafe, sleep seeds, three oran berries, and a reviver seed just in case from Kecleons shop.
Right now she was just enjoying her time in the square sitting eating a Cheri tart from Kangaskhan's. She could've just went back to Aaron but she kind of wanted an excuse to not have to jump through the bushes again.
There weren't a lot of Pokémon in the square, just the shopkeepers, some Watchog over by the path to a school? She couldn't remember, and strangely enough Goodra who was sitting at the bench nearby the gate that led outside of Serene Village.
Huh, something seems off with him.
Jezebel stared all around him until she realized that there were bandages covering his wrist.
Those weren't there last night. Did I miss something? Her thoughts were soon interrupted when out of the gate a Zoroark and Eevee with guild badges came out and all of her attention went to them.
Shit.
