"I have to do this"

Elizabeth was standing at the steps of a lighthouse, a lighthouse similar yet different from all the lighthouses present at the Sea of Doors, arguing with two people, similar yet different except for one chromosome, which differentiated them from who they were.

"He ran away, Elizabeth argue back, he ran away like a coward, after having her killed ! And Booker... Booker... he... he killed himself. Not even from suicide, but from heart attack ! From watching her headless corpse!"

Elizabeth is shaking, the memory of what happened still fresh in her mind, her body still reeling.

"I felt everything that she felt ! I lost a pinky, but that version of me, she lost everything! And that Comstock...that Comstock ran away again instead of facing his guilt!" And I'm supposed to just...let go ?!"

"That is not what we said..."

"Nor is it what we've thought..."

"But we do believe that there might be..."

"A solution that might fix your problem..."

"Without having to sink so low as to use a child..."

"Nor for cold-blooded murder..."

"Even for that version of Comstock..."

"Are you... Are you asking me NOT to kill Comstock ?! After... After what this version of him did ?!"

"We are only providing an alternative..."

"An alternative that, once again, could help you..."

"Alongside the plight you found yourself in..."

"And leave you much healthier..."

"Then if you go with your first choice."

"And what would that be, huh?! How EXACTLY could anything fix what happened? Is there...what, some kind of device capable of reviving a baby somewhere? Capable of putting back the head of a baby to her corpse ?! Capable of bringing people back to life ?!"

The Luteces turned their head, and looked at each other for a moment, before turning their eyes back to Elizabeth.

"Well, you can see all the doors..."

"And what's behind all of them..."

"If you were to focus for a few minutes..."

"Without any intrusive thoughts to disturb that focus..."

"Maybe you'll discover something..."

"Something that's even in the Rapture Comstock fled to..."

"Something that could bring her back."

This got Elizabeth's attention, her anger lessening as the Luteces's words set in her mind, her breathing stopping as the realization of what the Luteces just said sink in. Would it be possible for someone who was once dead to be brought back to life? Something that could fix the unforgivable crime Comstock had done?

"You mean to tell me...there is a way to...to bring her back?"

"Well, you are the one who can see..."

"Everything that's behind the doors..."

"How about opening one of them ?"

Elizabeth blinked repeatedly, before taking a deep breath, closing her eyes, and focusing once again on the door she wished to open. Her powers, as far as she believed, had always worked as some kind of wish fulfillment: the things she wanted to materialize appeared in the blink of an eye, and now, in a world of infinite possibilities, maybe there was in fact a possibility, a choice, something that could eve-

And then she found it.

A device capable of bringing people back from the dead. Multiple devices even, from multiple worlds, all different yet similar, with all of them having the same capacity: to bring the dead back to life.

And in Rapture, the same Rapture Comstock ran away from, she found a device in construction that was already finished in other worlds, that could bring back the Booker and Anna Comstock had killed.

"A Vita-chamber."

Elizabeth looks back at the Luteces, the Luteces nodding their heads.

"Well, now that's up to you to decide..."

"Your choice to make..."

"You can revive the both of them..."

"Or get Comstock to do it..."

"Or you could just leave him there..."

"With him believing his child lost forever..."

"Wouldn't be much of a closure, though..."

"Maybe you should take..."

"A few more of your time to think about it..."

"Before making your choice."

And with that, they disappeared, leaving the Lamb alone across the Sea of Doors, an infinite amount of possibilities lying there in front of her.
