Jamespire here! ALPHA CHAN HERSLEF LIKED THE STORY!! Yes you heard it, Alpha Chan herself enjoyed the story. Anyways i bring to whoever is reading this the next installment of this story of Alpha.
"I understand." Alpha nodded to an imaginary face somewhere, she was nodding to whatever was commanding her. She had know idea who or what the voice was, she assumed it was the Core itself. The metal gave off a loud metallic sound everytime she took a step, there might have not been anything under it, she might've been on a giant platform. Speaking of that, Alpha was in a gigantic hanger, in it was the Alpha ship, her namesake. She couldn't tell how big it was, that's how big the Alpha Ship was. When she reflected on the earthquake earlier she wondered how moving that giant Ship didnt destroy the entire Core.
"Where do i-- Nevermind." A strip of lights showed her the way to the command center, were she would control the Alpha Ship. The controls to the Ship and how to operate them were engraved in her head. It may have well been part of her very core. The cold air around her started to get to her, it was frosty almost. She had no idea how it would be cold if there was a whole mega forge down where the Alpha Ship was made. If it was cold here then she wondered how cold it was outside the Core. Clang, Ching, Clang, Ching. Every step made a loud noise, startling her at first but she got used to it. The lights flash once, then twice to reference the way forward.
It only started to worry her but there was nothing under the plate she was standing on, and nothing at all under the Alpha Ship.If she fell it would be it, no return, a new AI would be picked and would go through the same thing she did, no hitch. Alpha was replaceable. Even as a boi-organism it scared her. The air was starting to chill her when she made her way there. Alpha's breath was starting to frost in the air when she made it to her destination.
"W-why is it s-s cold in here?" She shivered.
"I am sending power reserves to the Alpha Ship. Even though it can operate on just solar power it still need a power boost to get it into the air, that's why im redirecting the power from the heater to the launch system. Here, take this." A voice said.
Alpha walked into a small room and inside it was drastically different. It was the operating room for the Alpha Ship. Indifferent small red, white, and mostly blue wires snaked around the room like vines. A few thicker grey wires ran along the seams of the room. Finally, dominating the center of the room was a chair, where Alpha could take control and fly her namesake. A few seconds later she heard a solid Clunk to her side, she turned to her left, breath fogging her vision. There was a small jumpsuit on the floor, it was a bit bigger than the one she had on right now.
The inside was lined with uber soft synthetic fibers, was almost warm against her touch. It also had the the bonus of a small hood. To her right was a small computer looking item that had thin cold lights embedded around its rim.
She quickly slipped it over her what she was wearing. Her fingers were almost numb from the extreme cold. Slipping her fingers into fuzzy pockets Alpha strolled over to the Control System, being coded into her she knew exactly what to do. Even so her breaths were unsteady, if she messed up she would certainly die. Alpha's fingers flitted along the chair, it wasn't exactly fancy but she didnt care, it was more than enough.
"Please get in the chair, there is not much more time." The overhead voice said. Alpha complied and sat in the chair, as soon as she was completly sat in the frozen chair unconsiousness enused.
Transfering Consiousness: Success
A boom could be heard for miles, there was no way the Crux wouldnt notice, Alpha was on a timer now. A ship, absolutly massive jutted out of a seemingly harmless orange cube. Alpha, though, wasnt prepared. Vertigo took over, making her neasus. Not only was she in complete control of the ship, she may as well have been the ship. It took her a second to get over the dizzying hights and starting working on the first task, mining copper. From this point on Alpha Was the ship.
She turned around, right behind her was a large, conveniant patch of copper, just enough for what she needed to do. Manuvering herself right above the patch she tried not to swerve into the Core. Gusts of wind seemed to push the ship anyway it wanted. After making sure she was far enough away from the Core to not accicently smash into it. There was a small white diamond showing where the copper was located. She was surprised when it blinked on in her vision and almost crashed it into the Core. Adjusting the ship Alpha started mining some copper.
Heat waves emenated off of the beam as it started to penatrate the ground. She had no idea how resources went from the ray into the Core, she didn't care, Alpha didn't really want to know. Almost as soon as she started mining a little indicator told her how much copper she had collected, almost fifty at this point. She noticed whilst mining that she could feel her body warm up a little more, whatever was running the Core had restored the heating systems.
[Researched Copper]
[Unlocked Possible Blocks]
Alpha jutted awake, for a second she didnt know where she was. After quietly breathing for a bit she remembered why she woke up. Rubbing her watery eyes Alpha lifted herself out of the chair and stepped over to the computer looking object. It sat on another small sheet of cold metal. She tapped on it once, instantly it showed a small maze of yellow lines, some with object in them. Poking around in the screen she tapped a few icons.
[Unlocked Conveyor]
[Unlocked Mechanical Drill]
Satisfied Alpha turned around and took a look at the chair. After a deep breath she sat down, and more importantly, passed out.
Just as she thought the Ship hadn't moved. It hovered in the air like a ominous giant. Because Alpha had left it mining whilst she was researching the Conveyor and Mechanical drill she had more than enough to construct what she needed. With just about a hundred copper in the tank she constructed her first building. Switching from the expansive mining ray to a thin building ray she started making her first drill.
Compared to the land around it, the drill was absolutely massive. It was almost two-thirds of the size of the Core. She built a dozen of these behemoths on various parts of the copper field. Along with that Alpha connected them to the Core with massive conveyor belts. All of these phased into existence, made from the outside in. It amazed her how fast these structures were made.
Then she got scared, a timer popped up in the top left of her vision, counting down from... two minutes. Alpha looked in disbelief thats not enough, not nearly enough time. Just as she was about to start panicking she calmed down, if she panicked it could get her killed. She shut her eyes, took three deep breaths and woke up. Alpha's eyes fluttered and she took a deep gasp.
"Hurry, Research the Duo and Copper Walls." The Core said. Her fingers shook so much that she had to grab her wrist to stop it. Despite her best efforts she frantically swiped around the computer screen. It took her a second to find and press the "Duo" and "Copper Wall" blocks. She stepped backwards and fell into the chair. She passed out.
She zoomed across the valley with an audible zzzzip There was nothing of real interest along the way except from a grey kind or ore on the ground. She had took a second to look at it and decided to check it out after she had defended off whatever was next. Once or twice she almost smashed into a cliff wall. With a cry of anxiety she avoided it. She was almost at the end of the valley when she was thrown back. Hurried she straightened the ship before it hit the ground. There was some kind of force-field around the "drop point". She knew it was called the "drop point" because a flashing red sign on her already cluttered vision said:
[LEAVE DROP POINT IMMEDIATELY]
ANNIHILATION IMMINENT
After that Alpha decided to not enter the area anymore. Focusing on the top right of her vision she saw that she only had about thirty seconds left untill they were invaded. Knowing not much time was left she went up and built some copper walls to close off the "Drop Point.". Not a second later the enemy came...
The only thing keeping it out was a single wall. A giant mech was flashed into existence. Without any human hesitation it stared to march up to the small wall inbetween it, and the Core. Two sleek and powerful guns were attached to its side. It must have been new because of the way it gleamed under Surpulos's sun. With heavy dread Alpha watched as it marched up to the wall. After a tense second it started firing at the wall. I was quiet despite what one would think, what was more noticeable was the shells carving into the copper wall right infront of Alpha.
It startled her, almost sending the Alpha ship into the spore covered ground. When she regained control Alpha floated up a bit and opened fire...
Satisfying, thats the only word that could describe the moment. The look of the ship's bullets rocking from the ship, sliding through the air and carving even chunks off the robot. The recoil from the ships guns caused her to readjust ever few shots but well worth it. Soon it was avoer and in a even more satisfying display the robot internally combusted, sending shrapnel all over the valley and killing the mech.
Alpha didnt know why she had worried so much, it stood no match no her firepower. She let herself relax. After admiring the remains of the enemy mech she weightlessly flew over to the intresting grey ore she had glanced earlier.
[Researched Lead]
She didnt have much time to wonder what the mystery "lead" or could create before Alpha hurried right before the "Drop Point" to start a defence. It was easier than she thought it would be. With a minute and a half left she started to renforce the hastily built walls she made beforehand. After that she prepared five duo turrets to be made. Keeping a carful watch of how many resources she had left Alpha built the Duos. No bigger than the walls she made the protect them the duo turrets stood carfully over the copper walls.
Alpha, seeing no reason to stay quickly forced herself awake. Waking up she noticed that the chair was soaked in her sweat. Her eyebrow wrinkled in disgust and then Alpha slid out of her soaked chair. Standing up she saw that nothing in the room had changed, only the tempature had risin a bit. The already familiar computer stood infront of her as ALlpha reached out and started finding out what lead could possibly create.
Not much, besides a turret there was nothing else really interesting. The turret in question was supposed to be an anti-air turret. She saw a few different conveyor options. Conveyor, CONVEYOR! Alpha slapped her cheek, making it burn. She forgot to supply the Duo turrets! With a second, equally deserved slap she threw herself backwards into the chair, hands shaking.
She was just around a giant cliff wall when she spotted a mech systematically destroying the duo turrets. She readied the craft right infront of mech and opened fire... until the mech shot back. Shrapnel ringed around her as she ducked right behind range. Because they seemed to share the volley range she couldn't shoot it without being shot out of the sky. She stood right out of range, watching it dismantle the already empty turrets. If she got into range she would lose control of the craft and leave the mech alive. She sensed only one option, suicide. Alpha shot forwards. As if waiting for her to react the mech turned and started to fire thumping bullets. Alpha felt it evertime a bullet grazed her metal skin, every time a bullet punctured her paper-thin armour.
Alpha was going down, there was no denying the fact. Losing altitude quickly she fought the distance from the mech, wanting to crash land ontop of it. The whole ordeal lasted seconds but it may as well have been minutes. Alpha went loose either she landed or not, nothing else could be done.
A satisfying crack followed by a massive boom was both heard and felt throughout the valley. Dust shook off the mountains. The core began rumbling
Alpha woke up, not sure what to do next. She had lost. She almost didnt notice everything shaking. She only noticed it when she stood up to exit the room, there was no reason to go back there.
"Enter the Chair."
Alpha paused, enter the chair? for what reason? Seeing no other option she took a step back and sat. She had expected to have just sat down, nothing else but something different happened, something much better. Alpha passed out.
Apparently the Core had made another Alpha Ship in advance. Lucky her. Off to the distance smoke eminated from a wreck. The first thing she got to was actually making a defence against the upcoming mechs. Speeding through the valley, creating an impressive dust trail she arrived at the decimated defence. Copper shard were strewn about the area. Alpha quickly repaired the walls first before starting redoing the Duos. She had enough time, a minute would be enough.
She figured that the Duo would use copper as ammo. Her reason was that it was both the same material that the turret was made out of and the most convinent nearby ore. it took her a second to path the copper from the newly built drills. After watching the copper enter the duos she let herself rest.
Until the flares came...
