Suichi Minamino, better known as the demon Kurama, was walking towards home after school. The sun was nearing its resting point in the sky, creating an orangey ambiance. Everything was quiet save for Kurama's footsteps on the crunchy leaves that had fallen to the ground.

Kurama had his school bag slung over his shoulder, his other hang shoved in his pocket. He had recently chosen to live his life as Suichi in the living world, parting ways with Yusuke and Hiei. He hasn't seen them in quite a while, Yusuke going off to do who knows what and Hiei being tasked to keep humans out of demon world. Now he was going to live as a "normal" boy with his mother and her new husband. Life was great.

He opted to take a detour and cut through the park since it was such a nice day. He was fully committed to being a human, so more often than not he stopped and smelled the roses so to speak.

"Hm, that's strange."

Kurama came up on a pod of some sorts. From where he was standing, he couldn't see what was inside it. Though, he decided to keep his distance in case it was dangerous. Something from demon world maybe?

He heard rustling from the trees and immediately pulled out his rose whip. A black shape flew at him and he struck it without hesitation. "Ouch!" It had exclaimed.

Kurama tilted his head questioningly as he peered down at the creature. "A crow goblin?"

"Yeah! What about it? You hit me you jerk!" The crow rubbed his head where a bruise was quickly forming.

The crow appeared to be harmless, causing Kurama to feel a spike of shame. "Sorry..."

More crows like it appeared and crowded around the first crow, making sure that their brother was okay. They were all dressed in little clothes and hats, it was quite a site.

"Hey you!" said the first crow Kurama had struck. "Before you had so rudely interrupted me, I was going to ask you something!" He waddled over, pointing a feather at him. "You're perfect!"

"Huh?!" Kurama was confused. The juxtaposition of the statements hit him like Yusuke's spirit gun. "Pardon?"

"You're perfect." the crow repeats.

Kurama furrowed his brows. "I'm not sure I follow..."

The other crows crowd around him, forcing him backwards towards the pod. "Our princess has been looking for her love and you're it! She loves the handsome ones!"

"What?"

"You need to kiss her! Go on!"

"H-hold on–"

Kurama fell backwards onto the pod. If he wanted to, he could swat all the crows away but he didn't want to cause them more harm. They're just so small... And probably not that smart. He looked over his shoulder, into the pod's glass.

In it, was a pale skinned woman with short black hair with wings on the sides of her head. Another demon maybe. Like him. This must be their princess.

"Quick!" Shouted the crows. "Open it!"

Kurama's gaze shot back at them. "Now hold on, what exactly are you? What do you want?"

One of the crows sighed and rolled his eyes, lighting up a cigar. "Isn't it obvious? We're crows, and that is our Princess Kurama. You need to kiss her to wake her up from her sleep."

Kurama attempted to process this information. "What did you say her name was?"

"Kurama."

It was almost ironic.

Kurama withheld a chuckle and composed himself. "Heh," he stood up. "you may need to find yourself another man."

"B-but, she'll never wake up if we don't! Who knows how long it'll be until we find her perfect match!"

The crows cry out in desperation.

"This is her last redo thanks to that Moroboshi!"

Now Kurama was intrigued. "What do you mean by that?"

The crows turn their attention back to Kurama. "It's our culture... Our princess is to be counted with whomever wakes her up from her sleep. She's already done this once before but she hated the guy. Please, we just want our Princess to be happy."

The crows' eyes went all big and watery, attempting to guilt trip Kurama. Granted, it didn't work, but they clearly needed his help.

"Alright." Kurama agrees. "I'll do it."

The crows exchange knowing glances before looking back at Kurama. "Great! They rushed around the pod and lifted the glass. Now, Kurama could see Princess Crowama's chest rising and falling as she slept.

"Go on! Kiss her!"

Kurama shoots them a glare as their shouts were really distracting. It would be hard for anyone to kiss someone with people yelling at them, even for a demon. He was doing this for them after all.

He closed his eyes and leaned in until his lips met with Crowama's.

Crowama's eyes fluttered open before she sat up in a jolt. "Yes!" She exclaimed gruffly. "Finally! I win!" She grabs Kurama by the collar and points to him, looking over her subjects. "Thank you!"

"Um..." Kurama cleared his throat to gain the princess's attention.

"Oh... Yes." Crowama let go of Kurama's collar and instead grabbed his arm. "We mustn't wait much longer. Come! Let us make love!"

"Excuse me?" Kurama gently pushed her away as he was still a gentleman. "I did not agree to that."

Crowama looked at the other crows with half lidded eyes. "You didn't tell him?"

"Tell me what?"

Crowama sighs and massages her brow ridge. "I need you to create heirs and repopulate in addition to becoming my betrothed. It's tradition."

"I'm flattered," Kurama says in the most polite way as possible, "but I don't know you."

Crowama grabs Kurama once again, rubbing her cheek against him. "Oh don't worry beloved, we'll have plenty of time to get to know each other. Don't get cold feet now!"

"Eheh... Right." At that moment, Kurama realized he had no choice. So much for living like a normal human.

A few days had passed and Kurama had learned two things about Princess Crowama.

She wasn't a demon, but an alien.

And that she was obsessed with that tradition of hers.

"You seem to be young, why are you in such a hurry to bear children?" Kurama had asked her, and she was stumped.

"Well... Well I–" Crowama hunched over and stroked her chin in thought. "It's tradition."

"You always say that."

Crowama shrugged. "That's how things always were for my people. For my mother, my grandmother, and my mother before that."

"Hm."

A few more days had passed and they fell into a routine. Kurama went to school and Crowama stayed hidden at his place. With her off appearance, it wasn't safe for her to be around humans. Kurama wasn't even sure if he should contact his his human friends or his friends from spirit world.

This situation was uniquely placed on him and him alone. He didn't know what to do other than to let things happen. Perhaps he could grow to accept his fate with Crowama.

But first, he would have to reveal himself as a demon. If they were forever bonded, she would have to know that truth.

"Princess Kurama," he had addressed her, standing beside his doorframe. He had just gotten back from school and Crowama had been waiting for him in his room.

She was reading a magazine he had retrieved for her and lifted her head. "Yes beloved?"

"I have to tell you something."

Crowama sat up and crossed her arms. "Don't tell me you're getting cold feet now–"

Kurama cut her off. "No, no. It's not like that..."

"Then what is it?"

Kurama pulled out the rose from his hair and Crowama's face lit up. "Oh! Is that for me? You got me a rose? How sweet!"

Kurama shook his head and turned the rose into its whip form, whip cracking the air.

Crowama froze, bearing a face of confusion. "What the hell– That's kinky."

"What?!" Kurama's face flushed as he shoot his head. "No!"

"Oh." Crowama eased up but she almost looked disappointed.

Kurama began to explain. "This is my rose whip. I'm a fox demon, my powers are derived from nature." He expected Crowama to at least look shocked but her expression was normal.

"Okay?"

"... And how does that make you feel?"

Dealing with Crowama was challenging, but not impossible. She simply shrugged. "You're a demon, so what? I'm an alien. That makes it even better. Our children will be hearty and strong."

"I see."

Crowama simply rolled her eyes. "You should've just said so from the beginning! You're not scared of me, are you?

"No." If push came to shove, Kurama could easily defeat her. All she had was a leaf that controlled wind.

Crowama stood up and walked over to Kurama, draping her arms over his shoulders. "Can we get to love making now?"

"No..." Kurama grabbed her chin and lowered her face gently. "Be patient beloved, we have all the time in the world." He placed a kiss on her forehead.

Blushing, Crowama was speechless.

She could get used to this.
