Chapter 2: "Reflections"
Two weeks had passed since Mikasa came to, and she was finally released from the hospital. She made her way home, her mind still reeling from the battle and the cybernetic enhancements that now filled her body.
As soon as she got home, Mikasa went to the bathroom and took a long, hot shower. The warm water soothed her body and mind, and she felt the weight of the battle wash away. After she finished showering, she made her way to her bedroom.
As she stood in front of the mirror, naked and vulnerable, Mikasa couldn't help but stare at her new cybernetic enhancements. They gleamed in the soft light of the room, a reminder of the sacrifice she had made for her country and her people.
Just as she was lost in thought, there was a knock at the door. Mikasa wrapped herself in a bathrobe and made her way to answer it.
Standing on the other side was her friend Annie Leonhardt. Annie had been a fierce warrior in the battle against the Titans, and Mikasa was grateful for her friendship.
"Hey, Mikasa," Annie said, her voice soft. "I just wanted to check in on you. How are you feeling?"
Mikasa shrugged, still lost in thought. "I'm...I'm okay. Just trying to get used to these new enhancements."
Annie nodded sympathetically. "I can't even imagine what you're going through. But you're tough, Mikasa. You'll get through this."
They talked for a while longer, discussing the battle and their hopes for the future. As they said their goodbyes, Annie wished Mikasa luck and left.
Mikasa took off her bathrobe and slipped into a comfortable shirt and underpants before going to sleep. But her rest was disturbed by a terrible dream.
In her dream, she saw her friends dying one by one, their bodies torn apart by the Titans. She saw her country fall, its people enslaved and oppressed. She felt a sense of hopelessness and despair wash over her, and she woke up with a start.
Mikasa sat up in bed, her heart pounding in her chest. She looked around, realizing she was safe in her own home. But the dream had shaken her to her core, and she knew that the battle against the Titans and the Empire of Marley would be far from over.
As she lay back down, Mikasa felt a renewed sense of determination. She knew that she couldn't give up, that she had to keep fighting no matter what. And with that thought, she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep, ready to face whatever the future might hold.
