Valerian and Malakai managed to slip away from the crowd and find a quiet corner where they could talk.
Malakai poured them each a glass of Firewhiskey, a magical alcoholic drink popular among wizards, and handed one to Valerian. They raised their glasses in a silent toast before taking a sip.
After a moment of silence, Valerian leaned in and whispered to Malakai. "Do you think we can trust her?"
Malakai looked at him questioningly. "Who?"
"Faenrhar's daughter," Valerian replied. "She seems different from the rest of them. Maybe she doesn't want to be a part of this."
Malakai took another sip of Firewhiskey before answering. "I don't know, Valerian. It's dangerous to trust anyone here, especially when they're related to the Dark Lord. But I understand what you're saying. She doesn't seem like the others."
Valerian nodded thoughtfully, taking another sip of his drink. "What are we going to do now?" he asked.
Malakai leaned back in his chair, his expression thoughtful. "We need to find out what they're planning, Valerian. We have to stay one step ahead of them."
Valerian nodded, looking determined. "Agreed. We'll find a way to stop them, Malakai. We can't let them win."
Malakai gave him a small smile. "I know, Valerian. We'll do whatever it takes." They raised their glasses in another silent toast before finishing their drinks and heading back to the gathering and, well, before they were immediately taken aback by the sight before them: the dark and ominous atmosphere from earlier had disappeared completely, replaced by a lively and festive vibe. Wizards and witches of all ages were mingling together, chatting and laughing over drinks and snacks. The room was beautifully decorated with black and silver streamers and glowing orbs of various colors, casting a warm and inviting glow across the space.
In one corner, a group of wizards were playing a lively game of wizard chess, their wands waving frantically as they moved their pieces across the board. In another corner, a group of witches were singing a haunting melody, their voices echoing softly across the room. The air was filled with the aroma of delicious food and drink, and a small crowd had gathered around a table where a group of wizards were performing a mesmerizing display of wandwork.
Despite the jovial atmosphere, Malakai and Valerian couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. The absence of the new Dark Lord was concerning, and they couldn't help but wonder what his intentions were. Seraphine stood alone by the refreshments table, her eyes scanning the crowd. When she caught sight of Malakai and Valerian, she made her way over to them.
"Enjoying the festivities?" she asked with a sly smile.
Malakai and Valerian exchanged a quick glance before nodding slowly. "It's quite a change from earlier," Valerian remarked.
Seraphine chuckled. "Yes, my father likes to keep us on our toes. But don't be fooled by the frivolities. There are still plenty of dangerous people lurking about."
Malakai and Valerian nodded gravely, their minds still reeling from the events of the evening. They couldn't let their guard down, not even for a moment.
Voldemort's son suddenly felt a discomfort when he realized that Valerian had left him alone with Seraphine. He couldn't help but feel drawn to her, her exotic beauty and her confidence sending shivers down his spine.
"So, Malakai," she purred, leaning closer to him. "Tell me about yourself."
Malakai cleared his throat, trying to ignore the heat rising in his cheeks. "Well, I'm a wizard, obviously. I've graduated from Hogwarts few years ago, Slytherin, of course and, well... Rest is history."
Seraphine chuckled, her hazel eyes sparkling. "I know that much. What I mean is, what are your ambitions? Your desires?"
Malakai couldn't help but feel a little uneasy. He had always been taught that desire and ambition were dangerous things, especially in the world of dark magic. But the way Seraphine was looking at him, so sure of herself and what she wanted, made him feel alive.
"I...I want to make my mark in the world," he said finally. "To be powerful and respected."
Seraphine leaned in even closer, her lips just inches from his. "I can help you with that, Malakai. But first, you have to prove yourself to me."
Malakai felt a surge of electricity between them, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew that he should be wary of her, that she was the daughter of the new Dark Lord and therefore dangerous. But he couldn't help but feel drawn to her, her seductive words and sultry gaze clouding his judgement.
"I'll do whatever it takes," he whispered, his voice barely audible over the noise of the party.
Seraphine smiled, a wicked glint in her eyes. "I look forward to it, Malakai."
Valerian felt a mix of frustration and guilt for leaving Malakai alone with Seraphine. He knew that Malakai was still grieving for his mother's death and he didn't want to leave him in a potentially dangerous situation. At the same time, he couldn't ignore the opportunity to gather information about the new Dark Lord and his followers.
As he moved through the crowd, he kept an eye on Malakai and Seraphine, making sure they didn't get into any trouble. He felt a pang of jealousy as he watched them talk, but he knew that he had to put his mission first. He just hoped that Malakai would be able to handle the situation on his own.
Malakai and Seraphine retreated to a private room in the library, away from the party. The tension between them was palpable as they shared a long, lingering kiss. They pressed their bodies together, their hands roaming over each other's backs and hair. Their breaths came in shallow gasps as they broke apart, gazing into each other's eyes with a mix of desire and uncertainty. They knew this could complicate things, but for now, they couldn't resist the pull between them.
Malakai and Seraphine continued to kiss and explore each other in the library, their hands roaming over each other's bodies. Malakai's heart was pounding in his chest, and he felt a sense of excitement and anticipation unlike anything he had ever experienced before. He was consumed by the moment and the heat of the passion between them.
As they continued to kiss, Malakai felt himself becoming more and more aroused, and he could sense that Seraphine was feeling the same way. He could feel her body pressing against his, and he was intoxicated by the feeling of her soft skin against his own. For a moment, he forgot everything else that was happening around them, lost in the intensity of the moment.
Eventually, they broke apart, both of them breathing heavily, their eyes locked in a gaze of mutual desire. Malakai could feel his heart racing in his chest, and he knew that he would never forget this moment for as long as he lived.
Malakai felt the blood draining from his face as Seraphine revealed the book of dark magic he had been carrying with him. His mind raced, trying to figure out how she had managed to steal it from him while they were making out. But he soon realized that he had let his guard down in the heat of the moment, and now he was paying the price.
"You were just using me," Malakai said, feeling angry and betrayed.
Seraphine smirked, tucking the book under her arm. "What can I say? A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do."
Malakai stood there, feeling foolish and humiliated. He had let his guard down and now he was paying the price. "Did you really think that I was interested in you?" she said mockingly. "I just needed that book. And now that I have it, I have no use for you."
Seraphine laughed. "And it was so easy," she said. "You're just like your father - weak and easily manipulated. But don't worry, I won't tell Lord Faenrhar about your little crush on me. It'll be our little secret."
Malakai seethed with anger, but he knew there was nothing he could do. He had been foolish to trust her... He knew that he had to be more careful in the future if he wanted to survive in this dangerous new world.
