Well it's been a day since naruto together with his red headed friend and his pirate crew left for Teras.Since the time they had started their journey,naruto didn't know what to think of his so called friend.He was messy,loved to sleep and worst of all,HE was a drunkard.Even today he was drinking.It shocked naruto because he always had a sake bottle with him everywhere he went.He looked around again and found the same sight he saw since they started their journey.Everyone was drunk.Well apart from one tall guy whose hair was long and light brown and pulled back into a e think of it,naruto had never seen the guy without a cigarette and a rifle.So he approached the only sane guy in the ship,well besides him.

"Is the whole crew always like this?"Asked naruto.

"Well not always like this.Only when we've won a battle or when we're going on an adventure."responded the tall guy

"But if you're talking about our captain,yea he's always like this."said the tall guy smirking.

"I don't know what it is about him but I feel he's very powerful,"said naruto.

"Well,that's our captain for you."

"You know, since I met you guys I haven't learnt any of your names."said naruto.

"Isn't it polite to say your name first before asking someone else's."

"Fair enough,I'm naruto uzumaki."

"Benn beckman.You'll know the others' names soon."

"I've been meaning to ask.How did I knock out the other pirates in the room yesterday?The red haired guy explained it but I didn't really understand what he meant by haki."

"Well kid,haki is…"before Benn could continue what he was saying,a large looking beast ascended from the sea.

"Captain,it's a sea king!"exclaimed one of the pirates.

Naruto felt something within him start to rise.No,they were going to die.This couldn't be happening.They were so close.But instead of being scared,he was angry.Angry that this stupid beast was keeping him from being alive.He wouldn't let this stupid beast get in his way.So he did the only thing someone his age would do.He screamed.

"Get out of our way you dirty beast,you aren't going to stop me from being alive!"

He felt it again.The unknown power that blasted through his body when he was in the bar yesterday.This power,it felt so great.

Shocked and scared,the sea beast descended back into the sea.Panting,naruto looked back at Benn

"Was that haki?"Asked Naruto to the silent Benn.

Benn was just silent.How could this kid,no older than 13,have conqueror's haki and activate it twice.

"This kid,he'll be someone to look out for in the future."

Law's POV

"Where's Naruto, he should know we don't have time to wait around."said law as he tapped his feet repeatedly.

"Just give him sometime law,he'll be here eventually. "

"That's easy for you to say,you don't have a deadly illness that can kill you any moment, corazon."

"Hoho but we found a cure for that haven't we?"

"We don't know if it's even legit."

"Oh it's legit alright.According to the government, this thing right here is worth 5 billion bellies.And the good part is, it can heal any disease, curable or unusable."said Corazon as he held the unknown thing in his hand.

"Hmm I'll believe it when I see it."

"Oh,you still don't trust me even after all we've been through,even after I've found a cure for your illness?Maybe I should throw it away since it seems like you don't want it."

"Oi!That's not what I meant."said law as he jumped for the unknown thing."

"Haha you're still easy to tease law."

"Oi it isn't funny."

NARUTO'S POV

Shanks looked at the kid as he kept on eating. The kid was just unbelievable. He didn't imagine him using conquerors haki.Heck he didn't think that he could use it twice and that was a big achievement in his book.Though he didn't have a chance to talk to him one on one or know his name,he was sure it would happen eventually. He just had to be patient.

"Who are you calling fat!"

Or maybe it'll be right now.

"Oi oi what's going on here.

"He called me fat captain!"said one of the pirates in his crew.

"I'm sure he didn't mean it, lucky roux."

"Yea I meant it.You call yourself the fastest person in the crew with that body."

"Now now,it's not nice to call people fat kid."

"Shut your mouth old man."

"Who are you calling old you snot nosed brat."

"Who are you calling a brat you oversized tomato."

The crowd gasped.No one ever dared to stand up to their captain before.Even in an insult fight.

"Haha,he got you good there captain."said Benn beckman."

Silence followed.The one thing that was scary about their captain was that he was unpredictable.It was hard to know what he'd do in any situation.And like this one,it was hard to read him

"Haha,you're a brave brat that's for sure.No one's ever had the balls to insult me. Well,except Benn."

"Who'd be afraid of you."said the young blonde.

"Shanks along with his whole crew sweatdropped."

"You really wouldn't want to know."said Benn

"Let's have a party for Naruto's boldness."said lucky roux.

"Yea,let's get drunk."

A few hours had past since the party had started and naruto could be found sitting on the deck gazing at the stars in the sky.He really didn't want to attend the party.I mean what could he do there anyway.He was too young to drink and he really didn't feel like partying right now.The only thing that was on his mind was the cure.What if it didn't work?What if they went all this way just to fail?Maybe it was his fate to die.No,this was not the time to be thinking bad thoughts.The cure would work.It would.He was going to overcome death.

"Hey kid,what're you doing out here? Shouldn't you be partying?

"I could ask you the same thing,captain."

"Well,if you must know."

"No,I'd rather not know."

Silence followed.None of them said a word but eventually Naruto broke it.

"Hey,do you think I could survive this?"Asked naruto

"Maybe.It depends if the cure works or not."

That sounded like a fair answer.He was right.It really depended whether it worked or not. He just hoped for the former.

"Say kid,if you survive,how about I train you.Sound good?"

"Why train me?"Asked naruto.He didn't understand.He never had the potential like other kid's in their kingdom.He was always called a loser and a good for nothing l the time since he wasn't like the other kids.He didn't want to be a marine anyway. Stupid people.

"Let's just say,I see you becoming a strong guy in the future.And with help,you could be even stronger.

He thought about it.He really didn't know what the captain saw in him.But if the captain said he could be strong,why waste the chance?He had nothing to lose anyway since he'd have nowhere to go if he survived.

"I'm in."

"Great . It's gonna be very hard so it'll be interesting to see if you'll endure it."

"I'm not someone who backs down from a challenge."

"We'll see."

As Shanks turned to walk away,the blonde had asked a question making him stop in his tracks."

"You know,ever since we've met,I never got to learn your name.I don't wanna call you captain everytime because it sounds weird since you're not my captain.So,what's your name?"

"Me,I'm known as red haired Shanks."

"Naruto uzumaki."It'll be nice working with you."
