"-The Sheba Lens has detected an abnormality!"
"-coordinates confirmed!"
"-Abnormal value rising!"
"-Laplace is assessing the situation!"
"-Hurry!"
At this moment all employees of the security organization better known as Chaldea are in states of panic, the reason being to why Chaldea was founded.
They detected an abnormality.
"The light is gone!" Spoke the director of Chaldea right next to her being her assistant Director if a role like that existed.
"Chaldea was created from reproduction of Earth's soul" a man with a green hat and suit said looking towards the giant sphere.
"If the light of that civilization is extinguished then…" the green suit man spoke again.
"Hiro! Gather humans who have master potential right now! And move the Rayshift experiment into practical phase!" the director yelled somewhat loudly to her assistant right next to her.
"Y-yes Marie!" the assistant director spoke back before running out of the room to gather those of master potential.
"Unless we regain the light of Chaldeas." The director spoke looking towards the spinning sphere.
"Mankind has no future."
"Fou!" A small creature yelped to a girl staring out the window getting the girl's attention.
This girl was known as Mash Kyrielight a young girl with pink hair who lived at Chaldea.
"Fou!" The small creature yelped once more before turning around to run in the other direction.
The creature wanted her to see something.
Mash stood up setting her tablet down before beginning to jog after the small creature.
They had ran for some time before Mash found what the creature wanted her to see.
It was a boy with black hair and a girl with red hair laying on the floor seemingly asleep.
In the middle of the hallway?
"Fou!" the creature cried out before moving in between the boy and girl on the floor and had begun licking their faces.
"H-huh?" The boy murmured waking back up, the girl with red hair following suit.
As the boy and girl on the floor regained consciousness their eyes were greeted with Mash's
"Aaahh!" The boy and girl slightly yelled moving to one side of the hallway.
"W-who are you?" The boy spoke quickly and quieter.
Mash slightly taken aback replied "that's a good question."
"Someone who's name is not worth mentioning I guess" Mash speaks.
"Huh?" The boy and girl spoke in confusion.
"I-I mean I do have a name! B-but I don't have many opportunities to use that name often so I don't know if I can make a good first impression" mash long fully explains.
"Then where are we?" The red hair girl spoke out looking at the boy with black hair next to her before looking back at mash.
"That's an easy one. This is an observatory, built for the future of humankind to make sure that future stays long and prosperous."
"This is the Chaldea security organization."
They had moved elsewhere to what appears to be a small break room of sorts.
"Feeling better now?" Mash questions seeing the boy and girl drink their water.
"Yes, thank you" the boy replied with the girl nodding her head.
"When we got here, I remember us being put through some kind of simulation" the girl answers looking at mash.
"Oh, the spiritron dive, apparently if you're not used to it could put much stress on the brain" Mash explains.
"The makes sense my head is killing me" the boy responds placing a hand on his head.
"You both must've passed out walking through the hallway before you regained consciousness before Fou had found you" Mash theorized.
"Fou?" The boy and girl spoke together.
"Fou!" The little creature ran to Mash jumping onto her head before moving to her shoulder.
"A-are you okay?" The boy asks.
"Y-yes, I'm fine, this squirrel-like creature is Fou. It's a privilege life-form free to roam Chaldea" Mash explains while petting Fou.
Fou then jumps off of Mash and onto the boy then the girl before jumping off to run off elsewhere.
"As you can see, he goes where he pleases" Mash says seeing Fou run down the hallway.
"That's an unusual creature huh?" The girl speaks.
"Fou rarely approaches anyone except for me, but it seems he's taking a liking to her and you senpai" Mash points out.
"Yeah, guess so" the boy replied before realizing what Mash said.
"Congratulations you both just became Fou's second and third attendants in Chaldea" Mash says with a slight smile on her face.
"O-oh really that's great I guess" The girl responded with an awkward smile.
"By the way are you both part of the people with master potential that they brought here for Rayshifting?"
"That's right" the boy speaks back.
"Somebody from here invited my brother and I, they said we had what it took to form a contract with and use servants… Also, what's Rayshifting?" The girl questions.
"Wait, did you both come here not knowing what you're going to do?" Mash concernedly asks.
"Y-yeah kind of, they were very passionate about inviting us here." the boy awkwardly answers.
"That's a new one to me" Mash says.
"Well, it's true" the girl responds trying to back up their reasoning.
"Very well then listen closely. Chaldea is a research facility and observatory that gathers researchers from mages to scientists for the purpose of continuing the history of humankind." Mash explains.
"Our top researchers have developed Chaldeas, a global environmental model." Mash continues to explain.
"Chaldeas?" The boy curiously asks.
"It was proposed that planets had souls, so this miniature earth was replicated to reflect that soul. As long as the lights of its civilizations burns on Chaldeas mankind is guaranteed to last 100 years into the future."
"But the light has suddenly begun to fade. And if the light were to disappear that means civilization will come to an end. According to our calculations the human race will end in December 2016."
"No way" the girl replied with a face of fear.
"A close examination of the information has revealed a new abnormality. Spatial singularity F" Mash responds.
"This singularly is an unobservable area that did not exist in history. From A.D 2004 to 2018 in a local city in Japan. Chaldea assumed this is the cause of the human race's extinction. Thus, and proposed the Rayshift experiment to the United Nations, receiving approval."
"Rayshift turns humans into Spiritrons and sends them back into the past to intervene in certain events, basically time travel. With that we can go to the past and search for the cause of the future's disappearance and destroy it."
"And that's basically it, a quick summary of Rayshift which Chaldea is trying to conduct." Mash finishes explaining
"Amazing and we were invited to be a part of that!" The boy slightly exclaimed.
"Does that surprise you?" Mash questions
"Yeah, it does. And so, time travel is actually possible now?" the girl answers.
"Oh, that's right we haven't introduced ourselves" the boys realize before putting a hand out to Mash
"I'm Ritsuka Fujimaru" Ritsuka finally explained.
"Oh Right! And I'm Gudako Fujimaru, Ritsuka's sister" Gudako Follows
"Sorry for not making a good first impression but it's nice to meet you" Ritsuka says with his hand still out.
Mash realizes the gesture and slowly puts her hand out before Ritsuka gently pulls it for a handshake. They shake for a good second or two before letting go. Mash intrigued by the sudden gesture looks at her hand in curiosity.
"So how long have you been here?" Gudako questioned.
"Oh, about two years" Mash paused before talking.
"Then that makes you the senpai huh?" Ritsuka smiles.
"Not at all! I consider everyone to be more of an expert than me." Mash quickly stated.
"Then what 's your name?" Gudako speaks.
"And don't tell us that it's not worth mentioning alright?" Ritsuka asks.
"Very well my name is-" Mash was going to say until.
"Mash" the man in a green suit approach "Mash Kyrielight. Is this where you've been?" he says before moving closer?
"Professor Leff" Mash speaks out the name of the man in the green suit.
"The briefing for the master candidates is about to begin. Please come to the control room" Leff replied before standing in front of the three.
"Oh, and you both are?" Leff curiously asked before pressing a button on his watch, popping up a holographic screen.
"Number 48 and 49. I see one of the general recruits. Very good, I'm glad you could join us. All of the candidates we invited are an important and vital part of this mission." Leff says turning off the holographic screen.
"Huh" Ritsuka and Gudako both said.
"Oh, forgive me" Leff speaks fixing his hat "I'm Leff Lynor, one of the engineers here"
"Oh, nice to meet you" Ritsuka says while Gudako nods her head
"By the way shouldn't you both be going as well?" Leff questions
"U-uh where?" Gudako questions too
"To the briefing I mentioned. If you're late, the director will glare at you for an entire year." Leff points out.
"W-what?! Um where is it?!" Ritsuka starts to panic with Gudako as well.
Mash then quickly reacts by grabbing Ritsuka and Gudako's hand "it's this way!" She states before running with them in tow.
Leff quietly observed the action before following them.
The four appeared to be in an elevator going down deeper in Chaldea.
"It's unusual for you to take an interest in someone especially two, tell me what you find so appealing about them" Leff points out
"Because they're human" Mash replies.

"L-let me correct that. They behave like a human would, I guess. That makes them feel slightly different than everyone else in this facility" Mash quickly adds.
"Well, I certainly would say that everyone here in Chaldea has a quirk or two"
"What does that mean?" Ritsuka and Gudako say before looking out the elevator window to reveal the heart of the facility.
"Welcome to the Chaldea Security Organization" spoke the director of Chaldea to the candidates in the briefing room.
"I am Olga-Marie Animusphere, and I am the director of Chaldea" Olga-Marie spoke once more
"And I'm Hiro Yamato, assistant director" the man right next to Olga-Marie spoke.
"And all of you have been chosen from around the world for the rare talent you possess. By talent I mean the potential to do a Spiritron Dive, you possess magical circuits and qualifications to become a master. That being said, while it's a special talent you yourself are not considered special people so don't let it get to your heads. If anything, it would be more accurate to say that you are merely tools whose sole purpose is to protect the history of mankind" Olga-Marie longfully explains
"-what? Tools?"
"-geez"
"-what does that mean?"
"W-well that's one way to put it" Hiro says to himself slightly chuckling.
Olga-Marie slightly irritated "Silence enough! If you don't like what I have to say, then leave Chaldea immediately!
*Silence*
"Fine then. Just so you know Chaldea has never seen this many— "
Olga-Marie was saying before being abruptly interrupted by two sets of snoring from the back of the room being Ritsuka and Gudako
"Uh-oh" Hiro says before walking along side Olga-Marie to the two snoring.
Hiro presses a button on his wrist to reveal another small holographic screen and presents it to Olga-Marie
"Number 48 and 49, general block" Olga-Marie carefully examines the small screen.
Leff being next to mash chuckles slightly to himself, the snoring from the two only gets louder.
"Grrr" Olga-Marie sounds getting more and more impatient.
"Marie please let's just-" Hiro was going to say before Olga-Marie grabs the two sleeping and shoved them out the room.
"Gah!" Ritsuka and Gudako yelp being shoved out of the room looking back to see Leff looking at them and Olga-Marie glaring at them with Hiro giving them an apologetic look. The doors between them shut.
"What's her deal?" Gudako hiss in slight anger.
"I'm sorry but I regret to inform you both that you've been excluded from the first mission" Mash simply explains.
"I'll show you both to your room" Mash adds.
Back on the elevator going up.
"In the world of mages, ability is a given, but lineage means everything" Mash says
"The director is the head of the Animusphere, a distinguished family of mages. So, it's true she has a strong predilection for bloodlines"
"Then what about the other guy?" Ritsuka questioned.
"Oh, you mean the assistant director? That's a good question really. Not many heard of him or where he's from. All I know is that Olga-Marie was the one that gave him the title assistant director" Mash truthfully says
"Sounds like bias to me" Gudako adds
"I'm sure she had a good reason too" Ritsuka defended
The three are walking down a hallway
"Many potential Masters were needed after moving the Rayshift experimental stage to practical use. But only a handful of mages had said potential" Mash explains
"That explains why people like Gudako, and I were so aggressively recruited" Ritsuka finally understood
"So will you both leave Chaldea?" Mash wonders
"It's too soon, we haven't decided yet. For now, we'll do what we can here" Gudako speaks
"Yeah, leaving like this would be frustrating" Ritsuka adds
"Here we are these are your rooms"
"Thanks for everything" Ritsuka said
"Not at all" Mash replied
"You're going to participate in the mission aren't you Mash?" Gudako speaks
"Yes, which is why I must leave now" Mash says before turning to walk away
"Wait Mash!" Ritsuka calls out
"Yes?" Mash turns around
"Just um. be careful ok" Ritsuka said
Mash nods in response and waves once before turning to walk away
"She's an interesting girl, isn't she?" Gudako grins
"Yep" Ritsuka replied
"Some could say you like her" Gudako teases
"W-what?! No way!" Ritsuka says slightly blushing
"I'm just messing with you, now come on let's see our room" Gudako says before turning to the door
"I'm telling you man this is what I think" said a man with orange hair sitting on a bed showing a boy with blond hair his laptop screen
"Oh yes I see that" said the boy with blonde hair
"Uhhh" Ritsuka and Gudako spoke in unison
"Huh"
"Excuse us"
"Yes, can we help you?"
…
"Ahh!" The man with orange hair screamed "wait who are you!"
The boy with blond hair still in somewhat shock at the situation.
"Um well- "Ritsuka tries to speak
"This is where we go to get away from it all!" The man with orange hair pouts at the thought "who said you could come in here!"
"Dr. Roman let's just hear them out" the boy with blond hair asks trying to diffuse the situation
"Thank you" Gudako responds "we were told that this was our room."
"Your room? Here?" The man with orange hair says before groaning in annoyance "so the last kids finally showed up huh?" He said before looking towards the boy with blond hair.
"So, uh who are you two" Ritsuka ask curiously
"Oh right. I'm Romani Archaman" said the man with orange hair "head of the medical division but everyone calls me Dr. Roman. And this is my assistant Luke Cordin" Roman explained pointing towards the blond haired boy.
"It's a pleasure to meet you" Luke said before walking towards Ritsuka and Gudako for a handshake.
"A doctor! W-we're so sorry to bother you both on your break!" Gudako quickly apologized while shaking Luke's hand in the process.
"Don't worry it's no big deal, we're just some run-of-the-mill medics" Roman quickly adds.
"Also, isn't Rayshifting starting soon?" Luke points out letting go of Gudako's hand.
"Yeah, about that" Ritsuka awkwardly says
A coffee machine dispenser pours coffee into two cups.
"Let me guess you've infuriated the director or the assistant and got cut from the first mission" Roman guesses.
"Yeah, that's pretty much it" Ritsuka awkwardly said
"Well then we're all four of a kind" Luke chuckled slightly.
"Huh?"
"The director chased us out, saying you both lighten the mood to much this is serious work" Roman explains with a somewhat sarcastic tone "but yet her assistant gets to stay and crack all the jokes he wants" Roman mumbled the last part.
"Really? That's a shame" Ritsuka sympathized.
"But hey now that you're here and neither of us have anything to do. We should hang out and become buddies huh?" Roman offers looking at Luke for agreement.
"That sounds nice" Luke replied looking at Ritsuka and Gudako
"Sure, why not" Gudako smiled
They all then proceeded to click their cups together as a sign of agreement.
"And there you have it that's the structural layout of Chaldea, it was built 6,000 meters above sea level high in the mountains with a worksho—
*Ring!*
Roman was explaining before a ringing was heard from his watch. He pressed the button on his watch to answer.
"Hey leff!" Roman quick greets the screen.
"Romani, Rayshifting is going to begin shortly. Would you and your assistant come down here please? It would put me more at ease" Leff quickly explained through the screen.
"Sure, but what got you so worried?" Roman questioned
"Team A is ready to go but team B is having some modulation issues with people who are new to this" Leff said looking at his screen.
"Then we'll anesthetize them" Roman quickly offered.
"Get a move on then, you're in the medical office, yes? You both should be able to get here in two minutes" Leff said smiling looking at Olga-Marie, Hiro, Mash, and the candidates through the glass of the control room above.
"Understood."
"Then don't be late" Leff adds before hanging up.
"This isn't the medical office, is it?" Ritsuka spoke.
"W-well no" Luke said rubbing the back of his hand.
"But I'm sure we won't get in trouble for being a little late" Roman reassured "A team's up first so I'm sure they'll be fine. Oh, the man I was talking to— "
"That was Professor Leff right? We ran into him earlier. he said he was an engineer here" Gudako intruded.
Roman chuckles slightly making Ritsuka and Gudako confused.
"An engineer? That's incredibly humble of him. He's the mage who created Sheba, the telescope with lenses that allow them to see into the near future. It allows us to observe Chaldeas." Roman explained.
"Incidentally the former director constructed the Rayshift's summoning system. And Atlas Academy provided the spiritron calculations engine to actualize the theory." Luke added.
"So many talented people have come together to make it possible. It seems pointless to have average doctors like Luke and I around, but when they call for us, we go right?" Roman stood up with Luke following suit.
"Thanks for letting us hang out and chat with you two it was fun" Roman thanks.
"It was, thank you" Luke added.
"No problem anytime" Gudako smiled.
"You once things settle down you should visit Luke and I in the office, we got some delicious cake you should defin- "
*Boom*
And explosion can be heard and the lights in the room shut off.
"What is this? A power outage?" Ritsuka guessed.
"This place? Chaldea never had any power outages" Roman spoke.
"-Emergency Alert!"
"-Emergency Alert!"
"-Fires have broken out in the central power plant and central control room."
"Did they say fires?" Roman starts to panic.
"-The central division bulkhead will close in 4 minutes."
"Control room? But isn't that-" Gudako points out before seeing Ritsuka run out of the room "Ritsuka wait!"
"Hey! Where are you going?" Luke exclaims before the three began to follow after Ritsuka.
The four are seen running down the hallway heading towards the Rayshifting room. The door opens for them to see everything in flames and ruin.
"Oh no" Ritsuka speaks.
"This is horrible, but Chaldeas is the only thing unharmed" Roman says looking up at the orb with rings
"Could this be an act of sabotage?" Luke begins to question
"-Suspension of power output unit confirmed"
"-Insufficient power generation"
"That doesn't sound good" Gudako states the obvious
"-Unable to switch to reserve power"
"-Personnel, please manually switch to reserve power"
"I'll head down to the basement power plant! Luke stay with them and go back the way we came! I can't let the light of Chaldea go out! Roman commands before running out of the rayshifting room
"Dr. Roman!" Luke calls out before the door close leaving only the three of them
"-Bulkhead closing in 3 minutes"
"Roman's right maybe we should-" Gudako says before turning around seeing Ritsuka run deeper into the room
"Ritsuka!" Gudako cries out, trying to give chase until-
"Gudako!" Luke yells before seeing debris about to fall on Gudako
In an act of instinct Luke breaks towards Gudako and shields her from the debris seemingly crushing them both. Meanwhile Ritsuka being too far away now didn't seem to acknowledge it.
"-All remaining personnel in the central division, please evacuate from gate two immediately"
Ritsuka keeps moving deeper into the room moving past debris and pods used for rayshifting
"Mash!" Ritsuka cries out hoping for a response while looking through all the available pods
"Mash! Where are you!"
"-Rayshift system transferring to final stage"
"-Coordinates: January 30th, A.D. 2004. Fuyuki, Japan"
"-Laplace conversion protection in place"
"Mash!" Ritsuka cries out one more time before hearing-
"Fou!"
Ritsuka being able to recognize the sound follows it
"-Additional factor frame towards the singularity secured"
"-Unsummon program set"
"-Masters, please enter the final adjustments"
Ritsuka stops when he finds where the sound was coming from. He sees Fou calling out to Mash who bottom half is crushed by a giant piece of debris
"Mash!" Ritsuka calls out to moving down to get to Mash
"I-is t-that" Mash mumbles struggling to stay concious
"Mash, hang in there I'm coming!" Ritsukas yells getting closer to Mash
"D-don't b-bother i-its-" Mash says
Ritsuka realizes how bad of a situation she's in seeing her blood spill out from the bottom half that's crushed. However, that doesn't stop him from trying to help. He moves into position to lift the giant debris, but the rock is too hot to touch. He quickly covers his hands with his sleeves and tries again but with so little strength he is unsuccessful.
"D-don't mind me please you're wasting time"
"Look I'm not leaving without you so just forget it!" Ritsuka continues to try and lift the debris off
"-Warning to observation staff"
"-Chaldeas' condition has changed"
Mash and Ritsuka look up at the Sheba lens
"-Sheba's near-future observational has been overwritten"
"-The survival of the human race on Earth for the next 100 years cannot be confirmed"
"-The future of mankind cannot be guaranteed"
"W-what's happening to Chaldeas?" Mash questions
"-Central bulkhead will now be sealed"
The doors leading into the room now shuts leaving them inside
"-Commencing interior cleansing in 90 seconds"
"W-we're trapped I-I'm sorry senpai" Mash apologizes
"It's alright i'm sure we'll find a way out of this somehow" Ritsuka says before sitting down on the right next to Mash "just hang in there, okay?"
"I-I'll try thank you for bothering with me"
"-Seeking qualified Masters… seeking"
"Senpai? What about your sister?" Mash points
"Right Gudako!" Ritsuka slightly panics before calming down "I'm sure luke got her out safely"
Mash sighs in relief seeing how calm Ritsuka is
"You know… I've always wanted to see the sky, a clear blue sky" Mash slightly trails off
"Guess you never did huh being in the mountains and all" Ritsuka's attempt at humor
"But you know what? Someday I'll show you the sky" Ritsuka promises
"S-senpai" Mash calls out to Ritsuka lifting her hand "P-please your hand"
"Oh ok" Ritsuka rubs his hand on his clothing before gently taking Mash's hand with his own "here"
"Fou" Fou slightly cries out once
They both share one last look at each other smiling knowing that they'll die together before more debris starts to fall
"-Restablishing contract with suitable designees: Number 48, 49 and Olga-Marie Anuimusphere"
"-Starting Unsummon Program"
"-Commencing Spiritron conversion."
"-Rayshifting beginning in 3… 2… 1…"
"-All procedures cleared."
"-Commencing operation First Order."
