"And you?"asked Naruto to Benn.

"N-no thanks hehe. Naruto said as he chuckled nervously.

"So if it's rare, how do I have it?"asked Naruto.

"Dunno. Guess you're one of the rare ones."said Shanks.

"Then that means I'm special."said Naruto as he looked at Uta.

"You!"exclaimed Naruto as he pointed at Shanks.

"Now naruto. You wanna do ten more laps?"asked shanks.

Naruto sat. What would he be doing now? Juggling giant rocks?

"That sounds like a good idea. Wanna try it out?"asked shanks.

"What're you, a mind reader?"

"Maybe so. Anyway, we'll be discussing haki today. No, everyday. Now you know what haki is correct?"

"It's something that lies within all living things."said Naruto as he recalled his lesson with Benn a few days ago.

"Correct. Now it does lie within everyone, but not everyone can access it and use it to its full potential. Only the strongest people, who have a good amount of willpower can use and awaken it. Haki in battle can be used to harden one's body, sense other people and other things. There's three types of haki which are Observation haki, Armament haki and Conquerors haki. But before we start learning about all of them, I'll explain how they work. First, observation haki. Yasopp, shoot me."said Shanks.

"Hey, now hold on. Isn't there another wa…"

"Shanks!"shouted naruto.

"I'm right here, don't shout!"

"Huh. You're alive."

"Of course I am! Now pay more attention! Yasopp, do it again."

Naruto saw as the bullet was shot towards Shanks and saw as Shanks dodged it effortlessly.

"That's a type of observation haki. It's called intent sensing. There are four other types but we'll get to that later. Now, Armament haki. Yasopp, again.

This time as the bullet was shot, Shanks didn't appear to be dodging but rather he stood still. Naruto expected the bullet to go through him but it bounced off of him like it was rubber.

"That's hardening. A type of Armament haki. There's 4 other types but we'll go through those later. You've already seen how conquerors' haki is used but if you haven't fully understood it, I guess I'll demonstrate it myself."said Shanks as he walked towards a part of the forest. Naruto along with the other crewmates followed.

"Hey, where are you guys going? Only Naruto passes through."said Benn.

As soon as he entered the forest, he heard a loud roar coming from the inner part. Believing that Shanks was there, he followed the voice and found Shanks, standing in front of a giant gorilla, an alligator and a tiger.

"Watch carefully Naruto."

And he watched. He felt the overwhelming energy pour out from Shanks and directed to the animals. The sound died down and the animals were now deadly silent. Suddenly, they approached Shanks and he started petting them.

"That was an example of conqueror's haki. We already discussed what it was and how it works. There's three types of it and this'll be the last type we do.

"Wow. Looks like too much work."

"You're really unpredictable."said Shanks as he sweatdropped.

"So, which type are we starting with?"

"Observation haki. Now for this one, Uta will be helping you out."

"Huh, why her and not you."

"Bahahaha. Because this will be good entertainment for me. I get to watch you get beat."said Shanks as he laughed.

"Oi, what's that supposed to mean by that!"

"You'll find out soon enough."

"So that's what I'm supposed to do?"asked Uta as Shanks finished whispering into her ear.

"Yup. You can start anytime."said Shanks

"Naruto, you wanna start now?"

"Sure. The sooner I begin, the sooner I'll be done."

"Alright. Now, put this on."said Uta as she offered Naruto a blindfold.

"OK. Now what.?"

"Now… I start hitting you."

"What! You're using a big thick stick! You'll kill me!"

"Shanks?"

"Stop complaining Naruto and do what she says."

"A-alright. So what am I supposed to do?"

"Dodge."said Uta as she started hitting him.

Boink*

"Ow!"

"C'mon Naruto dodge!"exclaimed Uta as she kept swinging at him

"I feel dizzy."said Naruto with bumps on his head.

"You didn't dodge any of the swings."

"It's my first time. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it."

"Let's hope so."

Silence.

"Hey, naruto. I have a question."

"Shoot."

"Do you want to become a pirate?"

Now that threw him off guard. He wasn't expecting a question like that.

"Yeah."

"Why?"

"Um."

Why'd he really want to become a pirate? Sure his brother had convinced him but he didn't feel like being one. But what would he do? He was an orphan. He didn't want to be adopted because that would bring back bad memories. He didn't want to join an orphanage because those caretakers would boss him around. So there was only one solution.

"Because I've got nothing to lose. I'd have no one to boss me around and I get to do whatever I want. To put it in simple terms, I'm free."

"Wow. I didn't expect that. I was expecting some stupid reasons like 'pirates are cool' or 'because their badasses' "

"What do you take me for?"

"An idiot."

"Rude."
