Malakai and Seraphine apparated back to the apartment, their arrival announced by the soft pop of displaced air. The rest of the group was already gathered around the large dining table, waiting for them.
"Are you two okay?" Valerian asked, concern etched on his face.
Malakai forced a smile and nodded. "We're fine. Just had to take care of something."
Seraphine quickly added, "Yes, we're both good. What's the plan now?"
The group shifted their attention back to the matter at hand. They sat down in a circle, and Harry began to lay out the information they had gathered from their recent battles. Malakai sat beside Seraphine, his eyes fixed on her, but he tried to keep his thoughts focused on the task at hand.
"The battle with Voldemort may be over, but there are still plenty of loose ends to tie up."
The others murmured their agreement, and the group settled into their seats around the large wooden table that dominated the center of the room. Malakai and Seraphine took their places as well, pretending as though nothing out of the ordinary had occurred between them.
As they began to discuss their plans, Malakai felt a strange sense of detachment creeping over him. He couldn't shake the memory of the house where he had grown up, and the pain and longing that it had brought up in him.
He tried to push the thoughts aside and focus on the matter at hand, but it was difficult. Seraphine, sitting beside him, seemed to sense his unease, and he felt her hand reach out to take his under the table.
It was a small gesture, but it helped. Malakai felt a sense of comfort and reassurance wash over him, and he turned his attention back to the group, feeling a renewed sense of determination.
Together, they would face whatever challenges lay ahead.
As the meeting went on, Malakai and Seraphine kept stealing glances at each other, trying to hide their growing feelings for one another. They both knew that they had a job to do, and their personal lives would have to wait.
After a few hours of intense planning and discussion, the group finally decided on their next steps. They would need to split up and cover more ground, gathering as much information as possible about Voldemort's plans.
As they stood up to leave, Malakai took a deep breath and turned to Seraphine. "I know we've got work to do, but can we talk later?"
Seraphine smiled softly, "Of course. I'll be here."
The group dispersed, and Malakai and Seraphine were left alone in the living room. Malakai felt his heart pounding in his chest as he walked closer to her. He knew that he couldn't hold back any longer. Without another word, he took her hand and pulled her close, kissing her deeply.
Alice watched in silence Malakai and Seraphine, the image of their sudden kiss burned into her mind. She couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy and hurt, even though she knew deep down that she had no right to feel that way. She had no claim on Malakai, and he had made it clear that he didn't feel the same way about her as she did about him.
She leaned her back against the doorframe, trying to steady her racing heart. She couldn't bear to go back into the livingroom just yet, not when the image of Malakai and Seraphine's kiss was still so fresh in her mind. Instead, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm of emotions that was raging inside her.
After a few moments, she opened her eyes again and glanced around the hallway, The night air was cool and crisp throught the window, and the stars shone bright in the sky above. It was a peaceful scene, but Alice couldn't find any peace within herself.
She knew that she needed to let go of her feelings for Malakai, to move on and find someone who could love her the way she deserved to be loved. But it was easier said than done. Malakai had stolen her heart, and she didn't know if she would ever be able to get it back.
With a heavy heart, Alice finally pushed herself away from the doorframe and made her way back into her bedroom. She knew that she had to put on a brave face and pretend that everything was okay, even though it wasn't. But for now, she would keep her feelings to herself and try to find a way to heal the wounds that Malakai had unknowingly inflicted upon her.
Days had passed since their last meeting, and the three men were back in Knockturn Alley once again. Malakai's mind was still troubled with thoughts of his past, but he tried his best to focus on the task at hand. Leo, on the other hand, seemed to be in high spirits, cracking jokes and making sarcastic comments as they walked through the dimly lit streets.
Valerian was the most serious of the group, as usual, his eyes darting back and forth as he kept a lookout for any signs of danger. They had received a tip that a dark artifact was being sold in the area, and they were determined to find it and destroy it.
As they walked past the dark and dingy storefronts, Malakai couldn't help but feel a sense of familiarity. This was the place where he had once worked for his father, where he had been raised in the shadows of the dark arts. But now, he was here to make things right.
The trio walked past a few shady-looking characters, but none of them seemed to have what they were looking for. Finally, as they were about to give up, they stumbled upon a small shop with a flickering sign that read "Zoltar's Wares."
Valerian signaled for them to stop to discuss their plan, huddled together in the shadows, waiting for their target to emerge from the nearby shop.
Leo was the first to take place and was perched on the next rooftop, his keen eyes scanning the bustling street below. Valerian was lurking into the darkness, his wand at the ready. Malakai stood next to the store's door, his body tense with anticipation. They had been tracking this dark wizard for weeks, and this was their best lead yet.
As they waited, the sound of footsteps echoed through the alley. The group tensed, their eyes darting around in search of the source of the sound. Suddenly, the dark wizard emerged from the shop, his hood pulled low over his face.
Without a word, the group sprang into action. Leo leapt from the rooftop, landing in front of the wizard and pointing his wand at him. Valerian emerged from the shadows, his wand glowing brightly.
Malakai and Seraphine circled around behind the wizard, their wands at the ready. The wizard turned to face them, a look of terror in his eyes.
"Where is he?" Malakai demanded, his voice cold and hard.
The wizard hesitated for a moment before finally speaking. "I...I don't know. He's moved on. He left the country. He's gone."
Malakai's heart sank. They had been so close, and yet so far. But he knew they couldn't give up. They had to keep searching, keep fighting, until they found the New Dark Lord and put an end to his reign of terror.
Malakai stood in front of the dark wizard, his wand raised and his face set in determination. The dark wizard struggled against the effects of the Imperius Curse, but Malakai's will was stronger. Leo and Valerian stood by his side, their wands at the ready in case anything went wrong.
"Tell me," Malakai demanded, his voice cold and unyielding. "Where is the New Dark Lord hiding?"
The dark wizard gritted his teeth and tried to resist, but Malakai's spell was too powerful. He began to speak, his voice strained and robotic.
"He's in a secret location, hidden underground. I don't know the exact coordinates, but I can lead you there."
Malakai nodded, satisfied with the information he had received. But as he lowered his wand, he couldn't shake the feeling that what he had just done was wrong. He had always been against using the Unforgivable Curses, even in the direst of situations.
Valerian and Leo were both frozen in shock as they watched Malakai perform the Imperius curse on the dark wizard. Valerian's eyes widened in disbelief, his mouth agape as he watched Malakai take control of the man's mind.
Leo, on the other hand, was fuming with anger. He couldn't believe that Malakai was using dark magic, even if it was for a good cause. Leo had always been an advocate for using pure, non-violent means to achieve their goals, and seeing Malakai use the Imperius curse was a blatant violation of those beliefs.
"Malakai, what are you doing?" Leo yelled out, his voice tinged with anger. "You can't use the Dark Arts like this!"
Valerian simply stood there, stunned into silence as he watched Malakai continue to interrogate the wizard. He wasn't sure how to react, torn between the shock of seeing his friend use such a dark spell and the knowledge that they needed to find the New Dark Lord at all costs.
Malakai finished questioning the wizard and released him from the curse, causing the man to stumble back, disoriented. Malakai turned to face his friends, his expression grim.
"We have to do whatever it takes to find the New Dark Lord," he said, his voice low and determined. "Even if it means using dark magic."
Leo shook his head, still fuming with anger. "No, Malakai. We can't compromise our values like this. We have to find another way."
Valerian stayed silent, still processing the shock of what he had just witnessed. He knew that they were in a difficult situation, but he couldn't shake the feeling that they were crossing a line that they might not be able to come back from.
Malakai stepped closer to the Dark Wizard, who was still under the effects of the Imperius curse. "You don't need to lead us there," he said firmly, "just draw his location for us." Malakai handed the dark wizard a piece of parchment and a quill, waiting patiently for the wizard to comply.
The dark wizard's eyes were glassy, and his movements were slow and robotic as he began to draw. His hand moved in strange, jerky motions as the lines of the map slowly took shape on the parchment. Valerian and Leo watched in awe as the map began to take form.
Malakai leaned in closer to the wizard, his eyes never leaving the parchment. "Good," he murmured, as the wizard's hand completed the last of the markings. "That will do."
Malakai carefully took the parchment from the wizard's hand, then turned to Valerian and Leo. "We have what we need," he said firmly, his voice steady and confident. "Now we need to move quickly."
Leo watched as Valerian obliviated the dark wizard's memory of their encounter, erasing any trace of their involvement. He stood there, still visibly shaken by what he had just witnessed, his eyes fixed on the now-empty alleyway.
"Leo, are you alright?" Malakai asked, placing a hand on his friend's shoulder.
Leo turned to look at him, his expression troubled. "I don't know, man," he said, his voice low. "That was some heavy stuff back there. I never thought we'd resort to using the Unforgivable Curses."
Malakai nodded, his own thoughts troubled. "I know," he said. "But we had no choice. We need to stop the New Dark Lord before he gains any more power."
Valerian joined them, his wand tucked away in his robes. "We should go," he said. "We don't want to attract any more attention."
Leo nodded, but his eyes still held a haunted look as they turned to leave.
