'What is Marcus doing?' Kristy thought.
She watched her older brother Marcus gorge himself at the breakfast table. His partner Agumon was a different story. He was calmly eating his own food.
"Marcus is up before noon on a Sunday." Mrs. Damon pointed out as she looked over her shoulder while in the kitchen. "Agumon is definitely a good influence on him."
"More please?!" Marcus and Agumon shouted at the same time.
"He even says please now." Mrs. Damon stated before walking over to the table.
"Here you go Agumon." She said before handing Agumon some rice.
This made Marcus angry.
"What the heck! Why did you serve him first?" Marcus exclaimed.
"Keep that up tough guy and your share will go to him as well." Mrs. Damon reprimanded him. "Agumon is still growing after all."
"If he keeps it up we'll need a larger house." Marcus stated before taking the last thing on the breakfast table only for his partner to grab a hold of it as well.
"Let it go!" Marcus shouted at him.
You let go!" Agumon yelled back at Marcus. "The only way you're getting this egg is by beating me up."
"What a bunch of doofs." Kristy commented.
"Today's temperature is 63 degrees Master Thomas. Somewhat warmer than back in Austria, don't you think?" An elderly man informed someone in a shower. The man exited the shower, put a robe on and walked down a hallway.
'I wonder if the others are doing well with my absence.' Thomas thought as he stared out one of the mansion's windows.
Damon House...
Kristy heard a noise outside, and stumbled upon a strange sight.
"What are you doing Agumon?" She questioned.
"Trying to follow Marcus to work." He answered.
"You're probably too big to fit in that bike." Kristy explained.
"He said I wasn't able to follow him, but he didn't mention anything about him following me." Agumon replied before adjusting the bike the wrong way causing it to fall over.
"Idiot." Kristy muttered.
"Farewell Master Thomas." Three maids said as they saw him drive off.
Marcus was forced to walk because the bike was damaged. Fortunately Agumon entered the Digivice, so he didn't have to worry about any extra weight.
Marcus was being tailed from the air by Clark in his Superman uniform.
His communicator in his ear started beeping.
"Yes." Clark spoke into the device after carefully pressing a button.
"There are signs of Digimon near where you and Marcus are." He was informed by the blonde-haired woman.
"Where?" Clark questioned in a serious tone.
"Area C-7. Are you two able to handle it?"
Clark flew ahead to intercept their target.
"Yeah, we're there." Marcus said.
"I'm bored." A teen sitting in front of a convenience store said to two others.
"Nothin ever goes on around here anymore." Another teen sitting on the sidewalk added.
"I agree." A new voice called out.
"Hey, that's pretty good. How did you throw your voice while drinking soda?" The second teen asked.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" The three then smelled something burning. They turned to see some trash on fire.
"Fire." The three said together and saw some small blue-eyed fire creature emerge from it.
"Way weird."
"There it is." Marcus said.
The three saw a teenage boy and a dinosaur race past them along with a furry reptile towards the smaller creature.
"Fightin time again!" Marcus shouted.
"Oh yeah." The small creature questioned as he looked down at Marcus and Agumon. He shot fire at them as they proceeded to dance in place.
"Pepper Breath." Agumon prepared a attack.
"Petite Fire." Gabumon also readied a attack.
Both fire attacks were absorbed by the small creature.
"Neither attack did anything." Agumon pointed out. "Try punching it."
"A DNA Charge. It's worth a shot." Marcus then started throwing punches.
He then realized there was a issue with that.
"My punches missed. My fists pass right through it." Marcus commented.
He threw several more punches, but it ended with the same result.
"This thing isn't solid enough for us to land a blow."
'Take this.' The creature thought after dodging another attack and then spat a fireball at them.
"Stop setting things on fire. I just purchased these shoes." Marcus commented as he tried to stomp out the flames on his sneakers.
"Hold still." Agumon demanded.
He tried to punch the creature as well, but was met with the same result.
'Haven't they figured out they can't-' The creature thought confidently.
"If punches won't work, how about this." The creature was then dispersed by a thunder clap.
It then fled after being dissolved.
"Hold it." Marcus gave chase on foot.
Clark was about to fly after it as well.
"Hmm." He remained still after hearing a limo with a Digimon inside approach their location.
"I'll let those two take care of the Digimon." He flew back to DATS HQ.
"What were those things?"
"A fire monster and a lizard."
"They're called Digimon and you don't have to remember them any longer." A voice told them and as they turned around they were hit by something that resembled a alien device.
"Memory erase complete. Pursue and secure. Let's go Gaomon." The voice told Gaomon.
"Sir, yes sir." Gaomon said as he exited the vehicle.
Shortly after Clark came back to HQ, Marcus and Agumon returned.
"I am exhausted. Phew!" Marcus said after he sat in a computer chair backward.
"Don't worry Marcus. You didn't let us down. No one here at DATS thought you could do it anyway." Yoshi commented before sipping her tea. "What prompted Clark to return early though?"
"Huh?" Marcus shouted in surprise with her statement.
"Mission complete. Digimon secured." A blonde-haired boy said as he walked into the room and placed the egg beside Yoshi so she could deal with it.
Marcus was caught off guard.
"Hey, who are you Blondie?"
He would soon receive a answer.
"THOMAS IS BACK!"
"When you get in?"
"This is such a pleasant surprise."
Marcus was becoming frustrated.
"How's it going?" Agumon tried to greet the new Digimon who proceeded to walk past him.
"That was rude." He said after being snubbed.
"Hey, you. When we talk, you listen." Marcus stated after approaching Thomas, pounding his fist onto the console.
"Wanna start something?" He questioned, becoming offended after being ignored.
"Commander Sampson, I, Thomas H. Norstein have returned from DATS Austria. Ready to report for duty."
Sampson nodded at Thomas. "It's good to have you here."
Thomas then lowered his arm and gave his report. "I spent most of my flight reading your most recent reports. It seems there has been an unusually large number of Digimon appearances lately."
"He's so on top of things."
"He so is!"
"Hmm? So, do you think these numbers could eventually the Data Squad?" Commander questioned to the more experienced of the four.
"No. But of course that all depends having the right team in place." Thomas answered back and the two of them heard a strong, and purpose coughing going on.
"Oh? Go ahead and introduce yourself, Marcus, Clark."
"Huh? Say what! Why doesn't he introduce himself to us. We're the ones with seniority and we're the best fighters here."
"You're out of line." Sampson informed him.
"And we've only been here for 3 days, Marcus." Clark reminded him. "I'd hardly call that seniority."
He then held his hand out.
"Clark Kent." Thomas didn't acknowledge him.
"Marcus, Thomas was part of the Japanese Division up until 6 months ago working to control Digimon and assisting in the implementation of transfer devices. We were having production problems, but Thomas discovered the flaw in the operating system in less than a hour."
"But, I…you mean I have to take orders from him."
"It's no surprise. Thomas graduated from the Stockholm University of Science when he was only 13. He's a genius."
"Genius?"
"That's just the beginning. He's also part of a prominent noble family in Austria. A real life Prince Charming."
"Prince. Ugh!"
"As for Thomas' partner: Gaomon - his abilities in battle are unmatched by all the Digimon partners at DATS." Kudamon explained.
"They are easily the best team we have." The serpent like creature said to them.
"Oh yeah?" Agumon questioned back and thought of that more of a challenge then a fact.
"Unlike some teams. They have got discipline." Sampson said to the two humans who were both getting a little sheepish.
"Commander, please allow me to say a few words about the new recruits. Based on my first impression I feel they could never benefit DATS in anyway." Thomas said which caught both of their attention.
"Take that back!" Marcus said.
"You see? I recommend he be dismissed at once." Thomas informed his commanding officer.
"Say that to our faces. Look us in the eye. If you have the guts." Marcus said.
"Very well. You two and your partners are not suited to serve here at DATS."
"Uh Thomas. You really shouldn't have said that." Yoshi informed him.
"I also go by another name. One you should be familiar with." Clark pulled his DATS uniform open to reveal his Superman costume underneath it.
A image then flashed in Thomas's head depicting the silhouette of a armored white knight.
'What did I just see.' He thought to himself.
Marcus then threw a punch at Thomas who caught it.
"You have to do better than that if you plan to beat me with your weak fighting skills. How truly pathetic."
"Weak fighting skills huh!? What kind of skills does your highness possess, you royal jerk!"
"You don't want to find out."
"Let's see what you're made of Thomas. Meet me in the ring after I temporarily negate my powers." Clark then went and exposed himself to a red sun lamp turning him back into a ordinary human for the time being to make their fight fair.
He then put on some head gear that Yoshi held up to protect himself during the fight considering he was no longer invulnerable.
"Tell me something. What's your reason for joining DATS?" Thomas asked his opponent.
"I asked if they were accepting new recruits."
Then Thomas threw a punch that connected with his chest.
"A boring story." Thomas scoffed. "DATS has an important mission. Every member has an obligation to carry that out."
Clark was tough enough to remain standing after the punch from Thomas.
'This guy can't be a human.' Thomas thought.
Most of his opponents are quickly knocked out by that blow, but not him.
"Is that all you've got? You're gonna have to try harder than that to knock me out because I've learned from some of the world's greatest fighters." He then punched Thomas in the face, knocking him out.
Everyone else saw he was out cold and were stunned. Thomas was known to beat Olympic champions in that ring and for someone to knock him out, it was unheard of.
Five minutes later...
The group was back in the office. Marcus had challenged Thomas to a fight as well and received several bruises for his efforts.
"That guy." He groaned in pain with bruises on his face while sitting in an office chair.
After his boxing match with Thomas Clark left the building to expose himself to a yellow sun and regain his powers.
"Count yourself fortunate that was a draw. Thomas routinely beats Olympic champions in that ring." Yoshi cleaned up his face with a first aid kit.
"So? I've taken out the toughest guy at Minato High School!" Marcus grumbled.
Yoshi then set the record straight.
"I'm really not impressed by your bragging right now Marcus and Thomas isn't even in the room."
Then the door slides open. It was Thomas and Gaomon. Thomas also had some bruises on his face with bandages on his face as well.
Marcus and Thomas glare at each other.
"Oh boy." Yoshi sighed.
The door slid open once again. This time it was Clark and Gabumon.
Just then the lights flashed as a alarm blared.
"What's going on?" He asked out loud.
"Commander. Digimon signs in Area B-82." The blonde-haired woman, who's name was Megumi, ran over to her computer and did a check.
"Beginning Digimon analysis. Transferring to monitor." Miki instructed and the commander saw the information on the overhead monitors.
"Looks like...Demimeramon." Sampson stated after seeing the image on the screen.
"Multiple Digimon signatures, and they're increasing." The blonde desk worker explained to them as she saw more and more blips appear on her screen.
"Rapidly too. Thirty-Six, Forty-Eight, Sixty Two, almost a Hundred."
"Wait a minute. I caused DemiMeramon to dissolve earlier after my thunder clap and didn't secure the area."
"And now, the Demimeramon has been left on his own to multiply at will." Commander Sampson.
"Sir, allow us to handle this." Thomas volunteered first off.
"We'll get it done." Gaomon added to try to cement their deployment.
"Pursue and secure." Kudamon instructed to the two.
"Hey! Hold on a second - that's our case." Marcus shouted.
"We were the ones who got there first." Agumon echoed.
"Are you 100% sure you can secure the Demimeramon without screwing it up this time?" Thomas questioned.
"No, I'll go." Thomas replied back and walked past them.
"You can't handle that many alone. We'll help." Marcus offered.
"We're fine." Thomas said back.
They then walked through the door.
Marcus and Agumon started running after them.
"Hold it." Clark called out, stopping the two in their tracks. "This is my responsibility. I will help Thomas. Gabumon let's go."
The two walked through the door after Thomas.
"You two should see how Thomas and Gaomon operate." Kudamon informed them causing his partner to speak.
"Right. Yoshino I want you and Lalamon to go and assist them." Sampson said.
"Yes sir." Yoshi saluted.
Area B-82...
"Gaomon! Initiate Plan A!" Thomas ordered.
"Double Backhand!" Gaomon shouted as he spins like a tornado to attack the DemiMeramon horde...but it seems to be ineffective...or so Thomas think.
"Plan A2!" He said as he pulls out his Digivice, ready to digivolve Gaomon. "DNA...Charge!" Thomas shouted as he snaps his fingers before a stream of blue digital energy appear in his hand before initiating the digivolution process.
"Gaomon digivolve to..." Gaomon said as he began to increase in size, he became quadruped, his claws coming out of the gloves and several bandages appeared wrapped on his now hind legs, he no longer wears the headband as it becomes tendrils on his body. In his forehead is a cross symbol. "Gaogamon...!"
"Gabumon digivolve to..." Gabumon said he became a angel with six wings on his back. "Angemon!"
"Spiral Blow!" Gaogamon shouted as he shoots a tornado from his mouth that covered the horde of DemiMeramon.
"Heaven's Knuckle!" Angemon fired a beam of energy from his fist.
Sure enough, every single one of them reverted into their DigiEgg form as Yoshi puts them all on the car.
"Nice job. You two handled that efficiently."
"3 minutes and 10 seconds. It seems we beat our old record by over a minute." Thomas said to his partner.
"Sir yes sir." Gaomon said as Megumi talks through the earpiece.
"DemiMeramon in Area B-17!" Megumi said as Thomas looked towards his partner.
"Gaomon, let's go!" Thomas said.
"Sir yes sir." Gaomon simply as they get into the car.
Clark had a head start on them with Angemon hot on his heels.
(DATS HQ)
"See? It's as if Thomas and Gaomon never left." Sampson said as he and the others watch Thomas and Yoshi go.
"Now you understand? There is a huge difference between you and his team." Kudamon informed the two ordered to remain behind.
"Don't be upset, Marcus. Just because Thomas is better than you."
"Says who?!" Marcus shouted back before tripping over his own two feet and face planting on the ground.
"Sorry about that. You're actually better than him." Agumon said in an effort to cheer him up.
"No, I'm not. I'm just pig-headed and I let my pride get in my way." Marcus said back as he tore away a band-aid. "It's time I realized it - I still have a lot to learn. Face it: I'm not the Ultimate Fighter." Marcus said as he stood up, and walked out the doorway with the other three right behind him.
"Ugh, stupid fire." A man said, and this man is someone that both Ash and Marcus has seen before.
"What are you doing here, sir?" Ash questioned while taking a close look at the small metal pale he was sitting in front of.
"Just what it looks like - barbecuing a fish for dinner. I'm having some trouble starting the fire though. You see the flames keeps dying out on me because the wind is so strong, and it keeps blowing it out." The older man explained as he fanned the flames for his fish.
"Yeah, that's happened to me too." Marcus stated as he believed this was a food talk, and nothing else.
"Well…if you learn to use the wind instead of fighting it then you can make the fire burn brighter than ever before. Harness power. Don't extinguish it." The elder informed the two.
"Thomas, Digimon signs in B-42." Sampson said.
"What? That's where they keep all the gas tanks." Thomas said back and seemed a bit worried.
"We're still fifteen minutes away from the gas tanks." Yoshi said while driving to the spot.
"I'll take care of it." Clark accelerated to Mach Two and shot past Yoshi's car as a sonic boom echoed behind him.
Angemon caught up with him five minutes later.
"So will we."
"What? But Marcus."
"Stay away." Thomas ordered.
"Pipe down. We can be there in three minutes."
"You're disobeying a direct order." Sampson shouted through his com link.
"So, sue me! This time I'll get that fireball!"
"Oh no. Not again." Yoshi said after the hang up.
"There's no way they can secure the DemiMeramon. There's too many."
By the time Marcus and Agumon arrived at the refinery, three of the DemiMeramon had been reverted back into Digi-Eggs.
"We'll handle the rest. Agumon, use Spitfire Blast." Marcus spoke to his partner.
"You're not serious." Agumon replied in disbelief. "Fire attacks don't do anything to DemiMeramon."
Marcus whirled his head to Agumon. "You heard me!"
"Alright." Agumon reluctantly agreed.
"Spit Fire Blast!" Agumon shouted and aimed at one of the three. He was then ordered to attack, and after two more attacks something happened - the three were becoming one and then...
"Demimeramon digivolve to...Meramon." The fire creature was now human in appearance, but with the same blue eyes and stitched mouth.
"He digivolved - now what?" Agumon questioned.
"Just like the old man said: 'a fire can be blown out by the wind' then again..." Marcus explained to his worried worker before leaping into the air with Ash right behind. "You know what I always say..." He added, but stalled as he punched him in the chin, came through the flames, and stood with Charged fists.
"You've got to fight fire with fire." Marcus said before adding, "DNA Charge!" With that the two felt that familiar feeling once again.
"Agumon digivolve to..." The Rookie said before adding, "Greymon!"
"Nova Blast!"
"He overpowered Meramon's flame. I didn't think he could do it." Kudamon commented since they no longer saw any Digimon signals except for Agumon on the screen.
"All Digimon signs have left the area." Miki said as she double checked the area.
"Marcus proved he could do it." Megumi commented in an amazed tone while Sampson gave them a 'humph' for what he saw. On the battlefield the two were carrying the eggs to an already full car.
"Thomas, weren't you the one that said I couldn't take on the Demimeramon?" Marcus asked after opening up the hatch and felt pretty sure of himself over what he had done.
"Don't get cocky. You just got lucky - that's all." Thomas said back while looking away from him.
"Huh, yeah right. It's just like I told you - never surrender a fight." Marcus said back as he was referring to his fight with Thomas.
'This is going to be a cramped ride back.' Yoshino thought as they all got in the vehicle, and eventually made it back. After sending the eggs back Thomas had to get something out into the open.
"Just as I thought - you had no plan and no tactics. You just had raw power." The brainiac explained to Marcus.
This caused the two to start talking to one another - a conversation that got on Sampson's nerves.
"Stop fighting now!" Sampson bellowed which got everyone's attention due to the volume that he used.
"Uh-oh. I haven't seen him this mad in a long time." Yoshi said as the others were recovering from the shout.
"Marcus, Thomas - from now on, you two will be partners. And Clark will be your leader." The Commander explained which surprised the three in question.
"I don't see this lasting long." Clark said to himself.
"But sir! He's completely undisciplined!" Thomas complained.
"You're joking!" Marcus shouted. "I'll never accept him as a partner!"
"That's an order." Sampson commanded.
Marcus and Thomas looked at each other, turned their heads back and grunted angrily.
"This is the worst..." Yoshino groaned.
