thatorigamiguy and danurso Help me with this first chapter and I appreciate youse guys' help! Thanks! Adding on to this, I started writing this before volume 9 was out so I'm so happy to learn that Summer weapon in this fic was the exact same! I CALLED IT! Anyways enjoy!

Summer sighed as she laid in her bed, kicking her feet as she groaned into her pillow. She was bored to death after having suffered through all of her current classes and lectures. She had thought that once she came to Beacon she would start to feel better but Summer couldn't help but feel like she wasn't doing enough. Not just at school or training, but also in her search for her father. Truthfully, Summer hadn't done much in the way of finding any headway in finding him. The lack of any progress made her tail stiffen in frustration and as she had to blink tears away.

It had been four months before she started Beacon and her father had been doing research. On what, she had no idea, and when she asked her father would give her a coy smile and simply tell her, "It's a surprise!"

What she did manage to get out of him was something about a Digital World and that was it. That very same day, the house shook, and he was gone with no trace of him. Nothing was left behind, not a sign he even left the house. Summer shook her head, not wanting to keep thinking about it. She got up and decided to head to the cafeteria. It was around lunchtime and she was hoping maybe some food would clear her mind. She trotted her way down to the cafeteria ignoring the gawking of all of the onlookers as they focused in on her bushy tail. It was annoying, but she was used to it.

At least none of them was stupid enough to say anything to her face. She sighed at the thought before her mind quickly went back to getting food. Finally reaching the cafeteria she looked out to see if any of her teammates were there, and caught the eye of a blonde boy waving at her with a grin on his face. The boy in question was one Taiyang Xiao Long and Summer would be lying if she said that she didn't have a massive crush on him. Her tail began wagging in excitement and she returned his grin with a beaming smile as she began making her way over to him. He was just a little ray of sunshine compared to her other two teammates and It helped that he was kinda cute as well. Not that she would tell him that. Nope. No relationships for her, at least not yet. She was here to be a Huntress and as such, there was no time for anything like romance and relationships.

"For now" Summer thought to herself, and was more than content to keep her thoughts about her attraction to Tai to herself. So caught up in her thoughts of Tai, Summer hadn't realized that she had spaced out and only came to realize that Tai had been trying to talk with her. She mentally cursed to herself, before offering him a sheepish smile.

"I'm sorry Tai, I spaced out for a moment." She said with an embarrassed tone. "What were you saying?"

She was worried that she might have offended or annoyed him, but Tai brushed it off with a smile, "It's not a problem Sum. I was just letting you know that they're low cookies today."

Summer felt her entire presence stiffen as Tai uttered what might as well have been pure heresy. Her tails were stiffened ramrod straight as an ice-cold feeling of dread overcame her and she all but whispered out "What type of cookies?"

Tai gave her a hesitant look, "Well, they're out of raisin oatmeal-"

At his answer, Summer let out a sigh of relief before giving him a pointed look "You had me scared for no reason Xiao-Long. Nobody gives a shit about raisin cookies! Only when scumbags give you them under the guise of chocolate chips. Speaking of which I'm gonna-"

"They're out of those too."

"UNACCEPTABLE!" Summer all but roared out as she slammed her fists down on the table hard enough to crack its reinforced protection. The reaction of his teammate nearly made Tai fall out of his seat in shock and he couldn't help but nervously shift away from the cookie-crazed girl. It had only been three months and while he had gotten fairly close to Summer, he was still getting to know her and wasn't familiar enough with her to decide whether or not she would take her frustrations out on him over what was really a minor inconvenience. The wild look in her eyes wasn't doing much to relieve him of that fear either and he was fairly certain that she was drawing attention to both of them though Tai ignored it. This kind of overreaction from Summer might as well have been commonplace at this point and as nervous as he was, he was pretty used to Summer's over-the-top personality.

"Is it really a big deal?" he asked in a placating manner, only to instantly regret asking when Summer's silver eyes focused on him with a look of righteous fury.

"Yes! It is! I have to take matters into my own hands!" she said with a fiery passion as if she had been the victim of a great crime. "I'll find out who has been eating all of the cookies in the school, mark my words!"

And with her declaration she angrily stormed out of the cafeteria in a huff, leaving a bemused Tai behind. After taking a moment to register her absence, Tai shook his head as he breathed out an exasperated sigh before returning to his food.

"Why do all of the cute ones turn out to be the biggest weirdos?" He muttered to himself.

Summer sat in her room, staring out of her window as night began to fall. No way she was gonna let this cookie thief off the hook. The chocolate chip cookies were the only decent dessert this school had and she'd be damn if She'll let it be taken away. With a grin, Summer slugged her weapon over her shoulder, an Ax, Rifle combo. It took years to get this baby made to her exact specs and she was happy to say that she was the proud owner of one of the best weapons in all of Beacon and she was gonna use her to put the fear of the Brothers' into whoever was stealing her cookies. As she opened her door, Summer was grateful that not a lot of people came to Beacon this year. With the number of students being low enough, it meant she got her own room, meaning if she left at night nobody could ask her stupid question about where she was going. Still being quiet was necessary as she didn't want to wake up anyone and play twenty freaking questions with them. With the coast clear, she started making her way to the kitchen. As Summer made her quiet trek through the halls of Beacon, She couldn't help but notice how quiet the school was at night. Quieter than she thought given the fact that a bunch of super powered, hormonally charged teenagers lived in the school. Maybe the rooms were more soundproof than she originally thought. Good to know, at least she didn't have to be as quiet during her "private time". Her face flushed red as a perverted giggle escaped past her lips, only to jump in fright when she felt something brush against her leg. She pulled out her weapon growling a bit as she turned to confront whoever dared to touch her. But she was greeted with the sight of nothing. Summer even looked behind her to see if maybe someone was in front of her, but still no one. She felt another tap on her leg and she slowly looked down to see a small black catlike creature staring up at her. It wore a hat and jacket and a backpack bigger than itself and the young huntress had wondered how the fuck she missed this thing when walking down the hall. Summer blinked, before panic set in and she immediately aimed her weapon at the unknown creature standing before her.

"Who the hell are you?" She shouted out in a hostile tone "Forget who the hell you are, what the hell are you supposed to be?"

In spite of having her weapon shoved in its face, the creature made no sudden movements or any kind of reactions. It glanced at the weapon briefly, before looking back up at Summer with a look of calm. This only only served to irritate Summer even more than she already was, "Are you fucking deaf or somthing? I asked you a question and I want an answer, you stupid weird cat… thing!"

Summer's angry demands were met with silence as the creature continued to blankly stare her down, before it did an about face and began walking away. Summer could only gape in shock at it just up and walking away from her. With her weapon still pointed at it no less!

"Hey!" she cried out, "I didn't say you could go, just where the hell do you think you're going?!"

The creature paused in its step, before turning to her with its irritatingly calm look, before running back and resuming its walk. And at this, Summer was completely at loss on what to do. She had an unknown creature wandering around the halls of her school that seemed completely unphased at her pointing a weapon at it. While she didn't want to get into trouble since she was out past curfew, she also really should have just bit the bullet and gone to find either a teacher or even the headmaster and inform them of this intrusion.

But on the other hand, her natural curiosity was piqued and she found herself interested in just exactly what the hell this weird thing was and what it was doing in the school at all. And she couldn't find out what it was doing here if she let it out of her sight if she went to get somebody.

Her mind made up, Summer quickly holstered her weapon before she started rushing to catch up with the creature, "Hey, wait up!"

Summer had quickly caught up with the creature as it had only traveled a short distance, before giving it a short look, "I don't know what you are or why you're here, but you're crazy if you think I'm going to let you out of my sight Mr. Whiskers!"

Her words were once again met with a blank stare and complete silence, before Summer deflated slightly with a huff, "I take it you're not much of a conversationalist are you?"

The creature smiled at Summer's question, the first actual reaction that she'd gotten from the mystery creature, before turning around and resuming its trek through the halls of , for her part, blinked at the non-answer before she began following the creature as she mumbled out, "I'll take that as a no."

The two silently made their way through the halls of Beacon, with the creature keeping a calm and sedate pace while Summer talked behind him. She was keeping a constant look out, making sure that neither a student nor staff member was out and about. But if her earlier shouting hadn't drawn any attention before, then Summer was fairly certain that no one was going to come investigating. She huffed out a relieved sigh, before her eyes landed on the back of the creature she was following. The silence in the air was awkward and, seeing this as an excuse to learn more about the creature, decided to make small talk with it.

"So… what are you exactly?" she asked the creature trying to keep pace with it. "You're not like some kinda grimm are you?"

The question had barely left her lips before Summer had found herself wincing at how stupid the question sounded. It didn't look like any Grimm she'd ever seen before and seemingly lacked any of the near murderous hostility they usually displayed. And besides, why would a Grimm ever tell her it's a Grimm? As Summer mumbled to herself about asking "stupid questions," The creature turned to her, continuing its pace as it walked backwards and still having that same smile on its face. It shook its head in the negative, before turning back around without missing a the answer was an obvious one, it still didn't make her feel any more at ease about what the hell this thing was. Or, for that matter, where exactly they were going. Summer held her weapon tightly in her grip as she continued to follow behind. After several minutes of awkward silence and walking, they finally reached the end of the hall and were at the entrance to the kitchen. Summer smiled, happy to have gotten to where she was going to in the first place, before shooting the creature a wry look.

"I was already on my way here, you know." Summer began before shooting the creature a lopsided grin. "What, are you gonna help me beat up the chocolate chip cookie thief?" Summer asked, not expecting a verbal response.

She had a feeling this creature was mute, and this idea was only supported when the creature made no response at all. It instead turned to her before motioning to the entrance, causing Summer to huff out an annoyed sigh at the silent treatment before she marched towards the entrance and went inside. She quickly scanned over the room for any possible intruders or would-be cookie thieves but saw nothing out of the ordinary. She was about to make a quip when she heard a loud noise clattering behind her and her instincts kicked in. Summer did an immediate about face with her weapon at the ready, only to stop dead in her tracks as her eyes widened in shock as she saw another creature that was reaching where the cookies would be.

The first thought that came to Summers mind was, "Holy shit, this little guy was adorable!" It was a white creature, with a blue bandana around its neck and it was small in size. So small that it seemed like it would barely reach her knee. It had a short tail and little stubby legs that waved in the air as it pulled itself up as it climbed toward the cookie jar. Now that she thought about it, the creature looked very similar to a triceratops that summer had seen in a dinosaur book once. Well, a very tiny triceratops that could walk on two legs and wore clothing, but a triceratops nonetheless. It tried to jump toward the cookie jar, but due to mistiming, it started to fall towards the floor. Summer gasped and rushed forward to catch the little creature before he hit the floor. She quickly snatched him out of the air as she tucked him in her arms, letting out a sigh of relief as she did so. The creature seemed to pay the near mishap no mind, its focus still on the cookie jar as it attempted to reach towards it to no avail. Summer couldn't help but giggle at the effort, before she positioned it so that they were face to face. The creature gave her a confused look, his big bright amber eyes alight with curiosity as to who this giant was that held it in place.

"Whoa there little guy, shouldn't be jumping that far for cookies. You could have hurt yourself, you know?" Summer said in a scolding tone, before flashing a brilliant smile.

"I'm Summer. Summer Rose," she proclaimed before giving him her own curious look. "Do you have a name, little guy?" Summer's question was ignored, as upon hearing her name the little white creature gasped in shock, before quickly being replaced with a big smile. Its amber eyes sparkled with joy and their tail had started wagging back and forth.

"Summer! Summer!" it cheered, waving its little arms in joy. Its voice sounded no different than a very young child and its attitude matched. Summer noted that it spoke with a boyish tone, and if she had to guess that "it" was a "he."

"I found you! I found you!" it happily proclaimed.

"You… found me?" Summer asked in a hesitant tone, completely at a loss. "Uuuh, why would you be looking for me?"

"Daddy told me to find you! I'm Caelum and I'm happy to meet you!" He said as he introduced himself to Summer. His answer didn't really tell Summer anything and it only served to confuse her even more.

"Well, it's nice to meet you Caelum," she greeted back in bemusement. "But who exactly is your 'Daddy' if you don't mind me asking?"

Caelum went to answer, before Summer's attention was drawn back to the black cat-like creature from earlier as it patted her leg again to get her attention. It began digging into its backpack before pulling out what appeared to be some kind of regular-like device and handing it over to Summer. Summer stared at the device with a blank look on her face, before she gently grabbed the device after she had shifted to holding Caelum in one arm. Once the device was in her hand, the cat creature then proceeded to withdraw another device from its backpack before placing it on the floor. Summer blinked, completely at a loss as to what exactly was going on before the device on the floor lit up and a hologram figure of someone appeared in front of her. Someone that summer hadn't seen in so long that she almost thought she'd never see him again.

"Dad?!" Summer cried out in shock at the sudden appearance of her wayward father. Tears started to well up in her eyes, her tail being to wag at the joy of seeing her precious father still alive and well. "You're alive! By the Brothers', you're alive!"

At her fathers appearance, Caelum squealed in joy and slipped out of Summer's grasp and ran up to the hologram of her father with his arm outstretched for a hug.

"Daddy!" He cried out as he tried wrapping his arm around the hologram only phase right through it. He blinked in confusion, before turning around and attempting to give Summer's father a hug again, only to phase once more through the hologram. Summer would have been amused at the sight had she not been in shock of seeing her father. Or the fact that caelum was referring to him as "Daddy."

"Hey there Pup! It's me, Papa!" The hologram greeted with a brilliant smile, his jubilant tone echoing throughout the empty kitchen. If she had any lingering doubts about man before her being her dad, they were gone. He looked like him, moved like him, had the exact same voice and mannerisms to boot. There was not a single doubt in Summer's mind that the man before her was none other than her father, Elias Rose. "If you're seeing this hologram, then I'm guessing you've already met little Caelum here?"

Her father gestured at Caelum with a laugh, who was still trying his best to hug the hologram and growing frustrated at ever continued failure.

"Huh? Well, yeah I met him not even five minutes ago." Summer said as she gave a brief glance down at the little dino boy. "But dad, what is he and how does he know you? And why is he calling you daddy? And-"

Summer began rambling off questions left and right, before her the hologram of her father raised as a hand in a gesture for her to stop. He had a small frown on his face and his brows were furrowed as if he was in thoughts, before he relaxed as he gave her a small reassuring smile.

"I'm sure that you have many questions, Pup, and I'd love to answer them all if I had the time. But unfortunately what you're seeing is a recording and that I'm not physically here on Remnant at the moment."

Summer blinked at his brief explanation, before her eyes narrowed in thought. Not on Remnant? What the hell did that mean? Where was he at, the broken moon? As if he somehow was reading her mind, her father bellowed out a laugh as he gave her another one of his brilliant smiles.

"And no Pup, I'm not on the moon if that's what you're thinking!" He exclaimed. "I'm currently in a place known only as the digital world and it's filled with wondrous creatures known as Digital Monsters, or Digimon for short!"

At his explanation, Summer tilted her head as she processed over what he was saying. Digital world? Digital Monsters? What was her old man on about? As if once again sensing her line of thought, he let out another laugh as he continued his explanation.

"I know it's a bit confusing and I'm sure you probably think your father is talking gibberish right now, but you already have proof before you. Little Caelum here is one the Digital Monsters that I referred to before, and if I had to guess, he's probably trying to bite me after several failed attempts at hugging the hologram isn't he?"

Summer glanced down at Caelum who was, sure enough, attempting to bite the holograms of Elias's legs after having become frustrated at his failed hugging attempts. The sight made Summer snort out a laugh, before she found herself nodding in approval at the hologram in spite of herself.

"I'm not too surprised, he's always been a feisty little guy. The spirit of a future fighter burns within him!" Her father said with pride. "The other creature that gave you this recording is another Digimon. His name is Black Tailmon, and he's-"

Elias cut himself off mid-explanation with a soured look on his face, his brow once again furrowed as he was suddenly lost in thought. It was a look Summer often saw on her father when became suddenly lost in thought as he tried coming up with solutions or tried his best to explain things. After a moment, he exhaled an exasperated breath before giving Summer a serious look.

"As I've said Summer, I don't have time to explain everything. All that I can really tell you is that the Digital world is unlike our own and that there are a wide variety of Digimon of various shapes, sizes, and scopes of power. Caelum, for example, is what's known as a 'Gammamon', a rookie-level Digimon." Her father explained, before his sour look was broken with a big smile. "And from now on, your baby brother! I know you've always wanted a younger sibling, so I've taken the liberty of adopting the little guy into our family!"

Summer's silver eyes nearly popped out of her head and her tail stiffened at the total bombshell that her father had dropped. A completely different world and digital monsters was one thing, but just up and adopting one of them and making them her younger brother?!

"Baby brother?!" Summer exclaimed in a shocked tone, before shooting a harsh glare at the hologram of her father. "You've been gone four months, apparently pissing around in another world with a completely unknown species of monsters and after all this time thinking you were dead, you not only drop all of this on me in a pre-recorded message instead of coming back home and saying it to my face, but you decided to just up and adopt one of them?!"

Once again, as if sensing her reaction(how he did that, Summer would never know) He paused as if to think about it for a moment, before grinning at her like a loon.

"Yes!"

"What in the actual fuck dad?!"

At her question, the hologram breathed out another sigh as he regained his serious mood from before. "Listen Summer, I know that's not what you wanted to hear and I know that this is not the way you wanted to hear it. But I've come to see the little mon as a second child and I knew he'd be safer under your care. I know it's short notice, but in due time, I'm sure the two of you will develop a close bond soon enough."

Summer went to speak again, before the hologram cut her off, "And before you ask, no Summer, I unfortunately won't be home anytime soon and I can't say why. All I can tell you is that I'm needed here and that there is a significant amount of trouble brewing in the Digital World. I wish I could tell you more, but I truly don't have the time."

Her father said in a despondent tone, before perking up again as he gave her another reassuring smile.

"But what I can tell you is that I'm alive and well, and that we'll be reunited soon enough. I also want you to know that I love you and that I'm proud of you and that no matter what, that you should always strive to keep moving forward and to never stop bettering yourself."

In spite of the annoyance she still held in regards to the surprise he dropped on her, Summer couldn't help but swell with pride at her fathers words and was glad to see that he was alive and well after all this time. The trouble he mentioned had her concerned for his safety, but her father was able to take care of himself and she was sure that whatever it was he could take care of it without breaking a sweat. At least, she hoped he could.

The hologram of her father jerked his head to the side in surprise, before turning to Summer with a frantic look on his face.

"Okay Pup, I am truly out of time and I need to wrap this up. Several quick things to take note with Caelum: He's about a year old, his birthday is October fourth, the device that Tailmon handed to you is linked to him and will aid the two of you in the future, and that in spite of his cute appearance he's still quite capable of being a danger to others so please do your best to look after him and keep him out of trouble, okay?"

Summer nodded along as her father finished up his explanation, before she flinched at the sudden harsh glare he shot her way. It was the glare he reserved for whenever Summer had done something wrong or had gotten in trouble and she just knew that she was about to receive an earful.

"And Summer? For the love of the Brother's themselves, STOP SWEARING SO MUCH!" He all but yelled out at her in a scolding tone. "It's bad enough that you still swear like a sailor at the most inappropriate times, but the fact of the matter is that now you have a younger brother and that he's young and impressionable and that you as an older sister now have a responsibility to make sure that you uphold yourself as a good role model for him."

He stated in a matter of fact tone, before once again shooting her with a glare that made Summer wish she could be anywhere else right now.(Seriously, how was her dad able to do all of this through a hologram?)

"In other words Summer: if, and when, I do come back to Remnant and I'm finally reunited with the two of you and I even so much as hear H E Double Hockey sticks out of his mouth, let alone him dropping the F-Bomb and I will wash your mouth out with soap three times a day, every single day till the day you get married and have your own child. Do I make myself clear, young lady?"

Summer swallowed a lump in her throat, before meekly nodding at her father, "Yes dad."

Elias dropped the glare with a sigh, before giving the two of them a gentle smile, "Well, I've said all that I've wanted to say and I really must be off now. You two take care of each other, stay out of trouble if you can, and try to stay on the staff's good side. I love the both of you, and I know that you'll both go on to do great things. Take care now."

Elias waved one last goodbye before his hologram faded away. Summer looked at empty space with a somber look, before gently uttering out "Goodbye dad. I love you too."

Caelum however, waved in exuberance at the empty space, "Bye-bye, Daddy!"

He continued to wave at the empty space before a loud growl rumbled throughout the room. He flinched at the sound, before turning to Summer with pout on his face and a sad look in his amber eyes.

Summer's gaze lingered for a moment at where the hologram stood, before glancing down to meet Caelum's gaze.

"Yes Caelum? She answered in a tired tone.

"Can we get something to eat?" he asked in a soft tone.

Summer held his gaze for what seemed like an eternity, still processing everything that she had learned within the past hour. Her father was alive, he was in another world, a world with a completely undiscovered species, one of which he adopted and then all but shoved off to her without even so much as getting her word on the matter, and then as just quickly as he showed up he vanished yet again as he was now apparently embroiled in… something. Summer shouldn't have been held responsible for her fathers actions, and the fact of the matter was that she really had no reason to care for the young mon in front of her. Why should she be burdened with this? Why should she have to take care of him? It's bad enough that people either stared at her or talked behind her back for being a Faunus, but now having to play babysitter to the digimon equivalent of a toddler?

All of these thoughts swirled around in her head like a tornado destroying everything in its path, raw emotions coursing through her like a raging river that couldn't be contained. And as Summer went to respond, she closed her eyes before taking in a deep calming breath, before exhaling out the noise. After a moment she opened her eyes before giving Caelum a tired, but caring look and with a weak smile on her face said, "Sure kiddo, let's go grab some food."

Sure, Summer could have said "Fuck it" and just told Caelum to take a hike. But she knew, deep down within, that she would have never lived with herself if she abandoned the young mon when he was entrusted into her care by her father. Was it fair to her? No, not in the slightest. But it also wasn't fair to take out her frustrations on Caelum either as his only crime was getting caught up in her fathers antics. Besides, what was a little more chaos in her life?

Caelum cried out in joy, before gesturing to that he wanted back up in her arms. With a sigh, Summer scooped the little mon up and tucked him safely in her arms.

"Hey, Black Tailmon?" she asked aloud, "What exactly can you guys can and can't eat?"

Summer began asking as she turned to the other lone mon in the room, only to be greeted with an empty space as the mon had vanished from the room. Summer gaped in shock, before quickly scanning the room for any sight of the now missing Black Tailmon only to be met with nothing. In fact, Summer also noted that the device used to project her father's hologram was missing as well. Did he sneak out while she was in the middle of her moment?

After a moment of thinking it all over, Summer breathed out an exasperated sigh before tiredly mumbling out, "You know what? I don't even care anymore. Come on Caelum, we're about to figure out if you can eat human food or not."

"Yay, food! He exclaimed with a cheer, before biting down on Summers forearm. She cried out in pain before looking down at Caelum with a harsh glare.

"Ow, what the fu- heck was that for Caelum?" Summer had almost slipped but had managed to catch herself at the last minute. Her fathers threat loomed over her head like a guillotine waiting to drop, and while her father was typically a jovial and benevolent man, whenever he made a promise or a threat he always went through with them. And Summer didn't care if he was in the digital world or really was on the moon, but she sure wasn't about to risk his wrath.

Caelum looked up at summer with a smile, "It's how I express love silly! I used to bite daddy all the time back home."

Summer met Caelum's happy smile with a deadpan expression, her wolf ears twitching in irritation before she huffed out an exasperated breath, "Okay Caelum, if you're going to live with big sister Summer, you're going to live by her rules."

Summer began as she started moving towards the walk-in fridge located in the kitchen, "And rule number one? No biting!"
