Dru had one of her visions and drags Spike back to Sunnydale. When Spike gets into town he's horrified to see Buffy like that. (AU) After a horrific ambush, Buffy sustains a severe head injury. When she awakens, she is unable to recall the past 13 years. Buffy struggles to embrace her unexpectedly overwhelming reality.

The Gift AU and it goes from there. Just as Buffy is about to jump and save the world, Spike climbs back to the top of the tower and tells Buffy and Dawn it has to be him. Some secrets are revealed, and Buffy comes to realisations of her own as she is mourning the one person she never thought she would. She finds herself wishing Spikes was still there with her, but it was too late.
