Chapter 16 ::These Words
Going back to school sucked, but it wasn't as bad as the night Logan took Carlos home. During the ride home Carlos couldn't help, but cry a little Logan even though they hadn't actually parted yet, but the thought alone made it unbearable. "It's okay love..." Logan tried to make him feel better, but knew he was feeling the same. He just didn't want to upset Carlos further and held back his emotions. The air was tense, but they held hands the whole way there and it seemed to calm them both down enough that Carlos stopped crying. Driving up to Carlos' house, Logan parked in front and decided to wait till Carlos was ready to go. They sat in silence for a good 10min before Carlos decided to break it.
"i love you..." his voice was thick with sadness and anger. Both for the same reason; for having to go home. He wanted so bad to just be with Logan. Logan knew what he was thinking at felt the same. He smiled at those three words and pulled him into a hug. They leaned away to look at each other while Logan cupped Carlos' sad face and wiped a tear away with his thumb.
"Please don't cry love. I'll pick you up in the morning. You know that... I had THE best time this week. Nothing can be compared to what i-, what we both experienced. I wish so bad that it wouldn't end, but it does. I love you and you love me. So even with your tears, love."
"I know..." Carlos sniffled. "I just.. hate it." Carlos said, looking away, out the windshield and onto the black lamp post lit road. He thought about how cold it was outside and wanted Logan to carry him into his room and sleep with him. He turned his head back to Logan and rested his forehead on the other and closed his eyes, sniffling again. "I'm sorry i'm being so stupid and emotional. You've seen me cry twice now and this one doesn't even have a good reason." Carlos shook his head and laughed at how stupid he must seem. Logan pulled his head back and gave a stern look, hurt by the statement. "You're not being stupid.. This may not be as dignified as the first time I seen you emotional, but it is good enough to me." Carlos looked up and stared at him. "You are feeling sad. As am I. But I am holding it in, because I don't want you to hurt more than I do. I love you okay? Don't let this affect your night. Think of me. Because I will be thinking of you. If you want I can call you when I get home. That was we can talk before we go to bed." Carlos just nodded and gave a halfhearted smile. "Hey" Logan said, picking up Carlos' chin to get him to look into his eyes. "I love you." He just said.
"And I, you." Carlos whispered back.
"Good.. " Logan responded with a heavy sigh of relief. "I should go. My parents should be on their way to the house if not already there. I should go greet them and what not." Logan explained, rolling his eyes.
"Okay. I'll see you when in the morning then." Carlos said with understanding. He opened the door and took a step out the car while putting his backpack on. He walked around the car to Logan's side and rested his arms and head on the rolled down window. "Please... Please don't forget you call me." Carlos said with worry. Logan made a pouty face. "You think I would forget?" he said, pretending to be hurt. Smiling at the Logan's response he put his hand behind the brunette's head and pulled it to his to give him one last kiss. "Smart-ass." Carlos retorted. Logan just gave a dim-witted smile and nuzzled his nose into the tan boy's neck. He took one quick whiff oh the Latin boys scent, trying to memorize it in his head for tonight's unruly sleep.
"Night" Carlos said with reluctance.
"Goodnight love. I'll call you as soon as I can." Carlos just nodded as he took a couple steps back and watched as Logan frowned and drove slowly down the coulee-de-sac and drove back around before turning right and out of Carlos' sight. Carlos sighed, turned around, walked up to the front door and rang the door-bell. A few seconds passed, before his mother opened the door with excitement to see her son back home after a whole week of not being home. She smiled and went to give him a hug, but stopped when she saw the look on her son's face.
"Whas wrong miho?" She asked with concern and cradled his head and gave him a warm embrace that only a Mother could give.. "Come inside. I made some Lasagna." She smiled reassuringly at the sad boy in front of her. Carlos looked up and couldn't help but give his mom a smile. She always knew how to make him feel better. He walked in and she quietly shut the door behind him...
Logan called and that night has he had promised and they talked for 2hours before Logan declared it was time for bed. The following morning Logan picked up a dorky grinned Carlos and felt his heart stop again. Carlos got into the car and gave him one long passionate kiss that made Logan tense and something down south bugle up. "oh? Ready are we?" Carlos said with a smirk as he put his hand down Logan's pants and kissed him. Logan pulled the cold hands out of his pants and kissed him back.
"Wait till after school today. We can come go home today and if you want you can meet my parents." Logan suggested. Carlos tensed up and looked at him with worry.
"A-are you sure? I mean is it too soon?" Logan just looked at him like he was crazy.
"Too soon? You just proposed not even half a week ago and you're asking if it's too soon?" Carlos glared at him dropped down.
"Well, what if they don't like me?.." Carlos said quietly while looking down. Hurt and worry stained his voice and Logan was shocked to hear it. He immediately felt bad and hugged him reassuringly.
"It doesn't matter if they don't like you." Logan said. "Because I LOVE you. Don't worry, I know you don't know them, but I know my parents well enough that even though they weren't around very much, they would do anything to make me happy." Carlos looked up at the boy who gave such loving words of reassurance. "Even if that means being with another man." He kissed Carlos on the forehead which made Carlos feel mostly better, but it still lingered on his mind for the rest of the day.
School was pretty much normal. Class/Logan, Class, Class/Logan, lunch.- WHICH by the way was rather awkward. It seems James was still getting used to being out in public with gay. He really was trying though. Every time James scooted closer to him he would reopen the distance and just give him a look. James eventually became annoyed, getting up to throw his food away, he came back and started packed up his stuff. "I'm going to the library." He said with a huff and stormed out of the cafeteria and down the hall. We all looked at Kendall who had his face in his palms feeling bad and stressed out for what just happened. "Kendall... I thought this was over and done with when it was settled at the party." Carlos seethed. There was anger in his tone and we all knew he would not tolerate a single thing happening to James. Regardless that Kendall was his friend first, James was the most sensitive one and he had always been there for Carlos when he needed him. Carlos glared at Kendall waiting for a response.
"I know, but it's not as easy as it seems. I'm still getting used to it okay?" Kendall explained apologetically.
"NO, no it's NOT okay." Carlos picked up his back back and stood up from the table. "Come on Logie" he looked down to Logan holding his hand out.
"Actually love I'm gonna stay here." Logan said hesitantly. Carlos glared at him and started to get a bit angrier.
"Don't side with him." Carlos said. Putting emphasis on him.
"I'm not siding with anyone. I'm just gonna talk to Kendall about it okay? Don't get like that with me Carlos, you know I hate fighting." Logan said with a stern voice and attitude. Carlos immediately knew he was wrong and changed his demeanor.
"You're right, I'm sorry." he said. Logan stood up and wrapped his arms around Carlos' neck and pecked him on the lips and he could feel a pair of arms going around his waist.
"Good. I'm sorry too. I'll see you in class okay?" Logan apologized and asked.
"Yeah okay. I'm gonna go talk to James though." He answered. He looked over to Kendall who was held his head with with his arm on the table. "Sorry, Kendall." Carlos said and patted him on the arm. Kendall just nodded and waived him off.
"I'll see you in class." Carlos said giving Logan one last peck on the lips before running down the hall where James took off to. Logan smiled and sat back down at the table and played with his fingers.
"Thanks for staying with me Logan." Kendall said.
"No problem" Logan said with a smile. "I may not understand what you're going through, but I am aware of it." Logan stopped smiling and went into therapist serious mode. Carlos had made a joke about his expression the day after the James and Kendall fight. He called him Dr. Logie and laughed comparing him to Dr. Phil. "I am not like that fraud." Logan responded. "ANYONE could do what he does, people are just too ignorant and oblivious to do it themselves." "OH you shut up Dr. Logie." Carlos teased. "I think it's kinda sexy..." this soon trailed off and... yeahh...
"Look, what you told James that night it true, right?" Kendall just nodded.
"Then you need to prove it to him. Saying something is different than doing something. If you really want to be with him, then you're gonna have to get over this PDA aversion." Logan ended.
"I know that Logan, but it's hard. I'm not used to it and i'm just so self conscious." Kendall said, looking to his sides at the people around us.
"I realize that, but you need to realize that this." Logan said pointing his fingers at everything and everyone around us in a circle. "Is temporary. This on the other hand." Logan said while making a heart with his hands. "Is not." He set his hands back down on the table and waited for Kendall to say something back.
"I know..." he just said, obviously ashamed at himself. "Did you have.. You know? Fears? At first.."
"Nope. I knew what I wanted and what I wanted was Carlos. I know I haven't known him for a the longest time, but I feel like I have. I can read him like I was reading my own mind and I knew that he would feel terrible trying to keep us on the down low. Besides, I don't care what other people think. They won't be in my lives forever. Carlos will. I never hesitated to give him what he wants, because he makes me happy. I also don't care about what my parents have to say either; should they reject us. He's actually going to meet them today, so that should be interesting, to say the least." Logan finished, raising his eye brows at the last comment. Kendall knew what Logan was saying was right. I'm such a coward...
"You're not a coward." Logan said. Kendall had thought he was just thinking that, he hadn't realized he had said it out loud.
"I know you didn't say it, but I know you were thinking it. It's written all over your face. Kendall, it's a fear. Everyone is afraid of something. The trick is allowing yourself to either let the fear define you or not. Take me for example. I was SOOOOO scared of making the first move on Carlos. But when I kissed him I felt something I never felt before and I knew it was over and done with." That was exactly what Kendall needed to hear.. He smiled and got up from the table and put his back-pack on.
"Thank Logan." Kendall said before giving the brunette a hug.
"Anytime Kendall." And with that the bell rang. They both parted ways as their classes were completely on opposite sides of the school. Logan walked down the hall to his classroom to find Carlos bouncing lightly off the wall with his butt waiting for Logan. He just smiled at the sight. He looks like a child waiting to get picked up... I hope our kids are as cute as him. As if through telepathy Carlos turned his head towards Logan's direction and smiled. Logan walked over to him and gave him a big hug and a nice kiss. "How did your talk with James go?" Logan asked.
"Good, I knew he was mad and I knew why, but I eventually got him to go easier on Kendall." Carlos responded, rocking back and swinging their hips.
"That's good to hear" Logan said with excitement. "But I don't think that will be necessary." he said, grinning. "We had a very good talk and I think he's gotten mostly over the issue."
"Really?" Carlos asked, surprised and skeptical at the pale boy's claim. He just shrugged and said, "I think so. But we'll see." They smiled and kissed each other before walking into class together; hand in hand.
After school, the guys met up at the parking lot to discuss what Monday's plans were, although Logan and Carlos already had plans. James and the couple were waiting for Kendall to arrive, but he was taking a bit longer than usual. "I wonder what's taking him so long." Logan wondered out loud.
"Probably peeing." The other two boy's turned their heads at the response and looked at him weird.
"What? For some reason, Kendall ALWAYS hold it in and waits to pee after school." Carlos answered.
"You know I can't believe I never noticed that." James said. "Good point Carlos." Carlos just grinned and turned back to nuzzle his face in Logan's chest. Just then Kendall walked out of the building holding a megaphone wearing a wide grin on his face while looking at James.
"EVERYONE PLEASE LISTEN UP." Kendall called out to everyone at the parking lot. At this point everyone stopped and looked at what the blond. Even some cars stopped waiting for what it was the star of the school had to say. "I... AM GAY." Kendall said.. James eyes widened and everyone gasped at what Kendall had just divulged to the senior school and the part of the staff.
"I.. AM ALSO IN LOVE.. WITH THAT GUY!" Kendall admitted, pointing down to James who was still staring at Kendall, jaw slacked and gaped open. Kendall turned off the mega horn and gently set it down on the grass before walking down the slight hill that the school perched on and stopped in front of a STILL shocked James. He picked up his hands and locked their fingers together before pulling him into a kiss. While a couple looked at the sight with disgust and hissed, most of the school cheered and clapped at them and James was blushing furiously. He buried his entire face in Kendall's should and whispered. "I am sooooo gonna kill you Kendall Schmidt." Kendall laughed at his embarrassment and hugged him closer. "I love you too." He just said and they hugged and stood their. Logan and Carlos didn't want to ruin the moment so they just walked away hand in hand to Logan's car, happy for the couple.
"That was nice of Kendall." Carlos commented with a smile.
"Yes it was. I'm glad we talked to them today."
"Me too." Carlos agreed.
"I love you know?" Logan asked as they separated to get into the car.
"Yeah I know. I love you too." He replied and set his head on Logan's shoulder.
"Ready to meet my parents?" Logan asked. Carlos gave a heavy sigh and started to tremble at the thought of Logan's parents. He felt a hand on his face then fell down and squeezed his leg.
"It's gonna be okay." Logan said reassuringly. "If they like you half as much as I do, then they'll love you too." Logan said with a smile. He pulled him into a loving embrace trying to squeeze out any fear that the other boy might have left.
"Thanks Logie." Carlos said, kissing his fiance's lips.
"Alrighty then.." Logan said breaking the kiss...
"Let's go..." he declared, turning the engine on.
