Chapter 18 :: Count Em' One Two Three
!
"Are you okay Logie?" Carlos asked timidly.
"No, well... Yes, but..." Logan trailed off thinking. Frustrated, he started scratching the back of his head vigorously. Carlos got up from the bed he was stilling sitting on, reached out and gently grabbed Logan's arms. Logan looked up at the boy with a blank stare. "Stop Logie..." He said softly. "You're gonna give yourself dandruff from all that scratching." Genuine concern across Carlos' face Logan calmed down and sighed.
"I'm sorry love..." Logan trailed..."its just-... I just didn't want my Mom to find it THIS way." Dropping his arms in defeat he looked tired and hopeless.
"You mean making out with another guy?" Carlos elaborated.
"Yes... That." Logan said eye balling the other boy.
"Well on the bright-side she knows now. And she seemed to not care." Logan looked at the boy like he crazy. "What?" Carlos continued. "All she did was comically backed up out of the room. Most moms would have either freaked out. But she didn't. Something tells me she kinda knew about you, if not us." Carlos' words sounded logical enough. It was true though. Knowing his own mom, if she did have a problem then she would've played it off right then and there, but Carlos was right. She didn't.
"We should go down there." Carlos declared, snapping Logan out of his train-of-thought.
"You're probably right..." He admitted with a heavy sigh. He was NOT looking forward to this talk, but it had to come sometime.
Just then Carlos grabbed Logan's hand and stared at it. Logan bent down to see the expression on Carlos' face was that of hurt. "What's wr-" he asked looking down at his left hand, but cut himself off. Immediately understanding why he was upset.
"You're not wearing your ring?" Tears welled up in Carlos eyes. Lips starting to quiver.
"NO LOVE! PLEASE DON'T CRY! I just take it off whenever I'm at home! Don't you think it would be awkward and suspicious if either of my parents saw me wearing an engagement ring on my finger?" Logan asked with a questioning glaze. Carlos tilted his head down in embarrassment. "Yeah.. S-sorry." Logan picked tilted Carlos' chin up to look at him.
"Hey... I would never take this of unless I needed to. I'm not ashamed of you. Of us. So don't you think for one second that am thinking twice about our love." Logan bent his head forward to rest it against Carlos and gave him a kiss. "I promise." He vowed. Carlos nodded his head in understanding. "I'm sorry." was all he said.
"Good, I'm sorry too." Logan replied, grabbing Carlos' face and kissing his forehead. "I should have told you beforehand." The taller boy gave him another kiss before leaning back and taking his lover's hand.
"Ready?" Logan asked...
"Ready" He said. And they walked out of the room hand in hand, down the hall, down the stairs and into the kitchen.
Logan's mother was sitting on the large leather couch in the living room that connected to the kitchen talking to her friend. They were smiling and giggling like little school girls, swatting each other's hands and saying absurd things that were just too far for Logan or Carlos to hear. Logan's mother looked up and saw the boys standing there and she waved them over to the room. Carlos looked at Logan with anxiousness. Logan responded with a smile and a light squeeze before leading them into the room with the two women. They sat on the leather couch adjacent from the one where his mother and her friend were sitting on. They just sat there staring at his mother waiting for her to say something. They say there for what seemed like ages, no words being said to either party. Logan grew impatient before too long and went all out.
"Mother I'm sorry. I love Carlos. I apologize for the manner in which you discovered my secret. We were planning to tell you soon, but this happened. I realize that what we're doing in my room was somewhat in appropriate and I can only assume that there are consequences AND as such I am willing to accept them without a huff." Logan declared. Face red from saying that whole thing with only a breath and a half.
"Logan I-" she began, but was cut off mid-sentence by another rant from Logan.
"But understand that I do not care for your opinion on the matter, if you do not accept me. Or us. I love Carlos very much and I am positive that he is my soul-mate. The feelings are mutual and will not back down if there is any opposition to our relationship. Aa-" Logan was about to say, but this time he was cut off.
"ENOUGH" Mrs. Henderson forcefully raising her hand in declaration. Logan made a large gulping sound, waiting for his mother's tyrant.
"I don't care" she said simply. Slapping her knee with a smile. "Gotcha though!" she pointed and started laughing hysterically along with her friend. A wave of relief washed over Carlos' mind and body. Although he couldn't help, but chuckle at what just happened.
"ooh" His mother finally said, wiping away the tears of laughter from her eyes. She let out a couple more laughs, before calming down and continued to say whatever it was she had to say.
"I'm sorry Logan, but I just could not resist." Logan just glared at his mother. "What?" she asked. "It was funny, Carlos laughed too" she pointed out. Carlos chuckled again and Logan turned his head to glare at him and Carlos immediately stopped and went serious. Logan turned his head back to speak to Mrs. Henderson.
"You think you're funny do you?" he asked in hoarse tone.
"Well, YEAH. I am your mother after all." she responded, mocking and quoting his comment from their last banter they had earlier.
"Funny" he said rolling his eyes.
"We all thought so" she said with an evil-grin. "Anyways sweetheart I don't care what your 'preference' is, or whatever they call it. You should know that I am your mom. I will always love and accept you for who you are or whatever you become...
Unless you become a serial killer of course." she added, bobbing her head and taking a sip wine from her glass. She sat it back down and puckered her lips before speaking again.
"Whom you choose to love is no concern of mine. As long as you're happy. As a mother that's all I ever wanted. If I did otherwise, what kind of a mother would I be?" she asked.
"A bad one." Her friend answered, pointing her finger, making a comment on the rhetorical question.
"Indeed." Mrs. Henderson responded, while shaking her head in agreement. "Also, I would like to tell you both that I approve and that I approve of YOU, Carlos." she said pointing her finger at me with a devious smile. I blushed and looked down at the floor which I suddenly found interesting.
"Thank you Mrs. Henderson" I said quietly.
"OH PLEASSSSE" she said comically swatting at the air. "Call me mom." taking another sip from her wine. "Besides, you two are engaged right. Might as well drop the bloody formalities right?" bobbing her head again and gestured toward Logan's hand, which was wearing the engagement ring. They both looked at each other in shock and Logan started stammering in an attempt to respond. "M-m-m-mom I'm sorry, i-i can explain. See-"
"Logan" holding her hand up and interrupting his speech.
"I already said I don't care. Enough, before I put you out back. Sheesh." she looked at her friend who was laughing and took another sip.
"Oh, okay... well thank you mom. I love you..." he said shyly.
"Honey. I'm your mom." she responded as if that comment was enough explanation for how understanding she was...
"Are you boys thirsty? I just made some raspberry lemonade" She offered, getting up from her seat.
"I'd love some!" Carlos accepted excitedly. Lemonade is my favorite! Carlos thought.
"Good answer." she said, "Told you he was a nice choice." She winked at her friend who chuckled quietly.
"MOM!" Logan yelled disapprovingly.
"Oh psh-shaw!" swatting the air again. "You both are gonna sit there while I learn more about you Carlos." she said, pouring two glasses full of ice-cold lemonade.
"okay" Carlos called back. This should be fun! Carlos was excited to meet and talk to his mom. He also liked talking about himself. Not in the vain sense, but just the face that Carlos was an open book when it comes to people. He could anybody anything, whether it was a cop, the president or a residential hobo.
Mrs. Henderson walked back over and set down two glasses of lemonade and a couple of napkins in front of Logan and Carlos and sat back down. Carlos tasted at the lemonade and immediately fell in love with it. The lemonade was sour and a little sweet and the raspberry in the drink was phenomenal! It was crisp and tangy and had a great zing that made you want to keep drinking over and over again, hoping that it would never run out.
"its great mom!" complimenting her.
"Why thank you!" she said with a smile, happy to hear that from her soon son-in-law.
"Now!" she announced clapping her hands and rubbing them together. She bit her lip and looked excited for what she was about to ask us.
"Who's the top and who's the bottom?"
Logan choked and spat out his lemonade and started coughing, taken fully by surprise.
"MOTHER!" he yelled, uber annoyed at this point. His face turned his adorable tomato-red from embarrassment and pouted at her. Carlos was blushing so much at this point that he buried his face into the palms of his hands. Logan stared disbelievingly at his mother and she looked at him like she didn't do anything wrong. Her friend was crying and laughing so hard that she had trouble breathing and she had to force herself from laughing in order to breathe and was wiping the tears from her face.
"WHAAAAAT!" she asked looking at Logan. "It's a legitimate question!" she said throwing her hands up and keeping them there as she looked around the company for approval.
"MOTHER! This is NOT appropriate conversation right now!" he whispered, embarrassment and annoyance dripped from his mouth like venom as he stared at his mom again.
"Okay, okay I'm sorry! Sheesh," she said putting her hands in front of her and took another sip from glass..
"THANK YOU" Logan said, glad to get that out of the way... There was an awkward silence in the room for about a min. The only sound was a couple shuffles from position adjustment or drinking of the beverages. It was quiet... until-
"I top"
Carlos said out loud quickly while looking away when he said it.
"AHHHHHHH!" The girls shrieked with laughter and clapped their hands in approval. Beginning another round of tear-jerking laughter from the women.
"CARLOS!" Logan looked mortified and dug his face in Carlos chest, embarrassed at what he just said. Everyone, but Logan was laughing at what Carlos admitted and he just rubbed Logan's back in comfort.
"OH MY GODDDD! LOGAN YOU MAKE THE CUTEST BOTTOM!" his mother declared, still laughing like a bunch of hyenas. Logan made muffled groaning sounds from in my shirt and Carlos knew he was on a whole new level of embarrassment.
Logan got up and practically dragged Carlos out of the room.
"It was nice talking to you Mom!" he called out trying to maintain his balance.
"You too sweetheart!" she called back. Still laughing like a dumb pack of hyenas...
