Here is the last and final chapter of Possibilities. I hope you all enjoy it, as I had a lot of fun writing this chapter :)

Epilogue

. . .

Things had been different between him and Valerie since that day in the hospital.

It was strange, Danny noted, but it was strange in a good way.

It had started with them doing little things for each other. Things like Valerie coming by to see him as he was recovering. Things like her bringing him all of his homework and assignments while he was still too injured to attend school.

In fact, he'd probably gained five pounds from all the cheeseburgers that she'd snuck him while he'd been in the hospital. Guilt food, he'd teased.

In return, he'd sat and explained to her all of his parent's ghost hunting tech and, during her visits, he'd taught her everything he knew about ghosts. Of course, she'd sat and listened with the same rapt attention and dewy-eyed expression that Tucker would get whenever he went into an Apple store.

Once Danny had healed, they'd started taking turns with nightly patrols. They had even set up a system, where one would take notes for the other if one of them happened to fall asleep during class.

Danny shook his head, smiling slightly.

If someone had told him that he and Valerie would one day be working together, he would've thought... well, actually, he didn't know what he would've thought.

But he found that it was surprisingly nice to have her as someone he could rely on.

As a fellow ghost hunter, Valerie could assist him in ways that Sam and Tucker were unable to. When they partnered up (which they'd been doing quite a lot lately), they worked together seamlessly, and he knew without a doubt that she had his back.

He sometimes wondered what might've happened had things gone a little differently that day. They had both been faced with difficult, if not impossible decisions.

Despite everything that had happened, however, Valerie had made the right decision when it mattered most.

Of course, the others were not quite as forgiving or accepting of the team's newest member. As it was, it had taken quite a lot of convincing from Danny before Sam had allowed Valerie anywhere near him.

He knew that no, he and Valerie didn't have the best history together. However, to Danny, it was just that- history.

He felt that he could trust Valerie with his life, and for now, that would have to be good enough for the rest of them.

Danny was broken out of his musings when his ghost sense went off, and not even a moment later, he caught sight of a familiar red blur.

"What do we have?" He shouted.

"Just a couple of low level ectopusses," came Valerie's reply.

Danny groaned. "I hate those things..."

Valerie grinned at that, nodding in agreement.

"It looks like they're headed for downtown," she said, eyes narrowing as she scanned the horizon.

Danny smiled slyly.

"Race you there?"

"Oh, it is on," she replied, and Danny couldn't help but laugh as he chased after her.

Yeah, he thought, things were different between them now.

But Danny liked different. He liked it a lot.

Those two are just too darn cute! I should write a sequel... or a spin-off... or something.

Review? :)
