The Odango and the Baka
Chapter 22
Disclaimer: I do not own Sailor Moon
Author's Note:
Well Damn! It has been nearly six years since I last updated this damn story. I apologize profusely to those of you who remained readers during all of my sparse updates throughout my high school and college years. I am determined to not leave this unfinished. Stay tuned!
LAST TIME:
"It's that same energy again. I can't yet figure out what it is doing but the levels seem to be increasing and synchronizing." Sailor Mercury typed frenetically at her computer, trying in vain to get a clearer picture of this energy that was binding her friends.
At that moment, Kunzite, who had been seemingly content hovering over the scene, not being involved, began descending to the battlefield (aka the parking lot). Fixated on him, the sailor scouts missed the flash of energy around Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask and the momentary change to the Princess of the Moon and her Prince of Earth.
The scouts stared with fascinated apprehension as Kunzite gracefully alit on the hot, dirty pavement of the parking lot. Mercury managed to tear her gaze away as the others tensed for battle and went back to analyzing the energy signatures emanating from their leader and her hero.
"Mercury, do you know what's happening to them yet?" hissed Mars. "Is Moon okay? We really kinda need her to wake up. As in now. You know, before Kunzite wipes the ground with us!?"
"I'm working on it. The energy signatures have fully synchronized and Moon's energy seems to be restoring itself. Tuxedo Kamen is also stabilizing and I think they will be with us again any minute." Mercury was furiously typing as the screen on her computer scrolled rapid-fire through the accumulating data.
"That minute better be a fast one," grumbled Jupiter.
Meanwhile, Kunzite had been assessing the carnage before him with a calculating eye. Venus mentally rolled her eyes as the look on his face became very self-satisfied.
"Well ladies, oh and one gentleman, it appears that my plan here today has been very successful." He smirked as he looked beyond the tensed Sailor Scouts arrayed before him to the prone figure of Sailor Moon. "Your precious leader seems to be out of commission thanks to my special youma and that leaves you with no one capable of finishing the rest of them off. Perhaps they should finish you off instead?"
Jupiter, though a bit concerned by the prospect of the forthcoming battle, snorted at his rather cliché supervillain speech, and got ready to attack the remaining youma. The other Scouts did the same as Kunzite looked on, preparing to hold the youma off until their leader awoke.
Sailor Mars began the attack, aiming for the nearest youma – her blast smashed into it with little effect but was soon followed by attacks from each of the other Senshi. The youma staggered slightly but appeared to be none the worse for wear after their onslaught.
Doggedly, they prepared to attack again, going through their attack motions as they gathered their waning energy.
"Wait!" Mercury's computer began going haywire as it continued to scan the unmoving pair behind them. "They're waking up! Don't attack yet."
All eyes, Senshi, youma, and Negaverse general's alike refocused their attention on the figure of Sailor Moon laying in Tuxedo Kamen's arms.
As she began to stir, Sailor Moon realized that she felt oddly energized considering she had so very recently passed out. An inner calm was settling inside of her and as she opened her eyes, she stared into the eyes of Tuxedo Kamen, her love in two lifetimes.
"Hello, my Prince."
"Hello, my Princess."
As they acknowledged their renewed and ever strengthening bond, their forms began flickering between their modern warrior personas and their past royal forms. The assembled Senshi watched in awe as their leader and her consort finally morphed into their long awaited Princess of the Moon and her Prince of Earth.
As their changing figures solidified into their final forms, Endymion rose, still holding his princess in his arms. Once on her feet, Serenity turned and faced her guards and their enemies.
She looked down at her hands as a shining light materialized between them.
Kunzite looked at the unfolding scene in front of him and began cursing under his breath. He recognized the light from his past on Earth and knew exactly what he was staring at.
The Millennium Silver Crystal.
Okay, so I couldn't resist a minor cliffhanger. More to come soon.
