39. Coffee Breaks

Niou's leg bounced in time with the music streaming out of his headphones as he sat in the hospital waiting room. He sucked his lip into his mouth as he glanced around.

There was a kind of sadness hanging around the other people in the room, including the nurse behind the desk, that made his chest throb. It was like they'd all given up hope of whoever they were waiting on being okay.

"Hey," Marui's voice was accompanied by the pop of his gum as he came up behind him. He dropped his hands around Niou's neck, two cups of coffee in them. "Right one is yours. Kinda taste like shit since we're in a hospital but two ice cubes and a drop of cream."

Niou smiled a bit as he took it, craning his neck back to press his lips against Marui's and smiling at the taste of Green Apple gum mixed with coffee and sugar, "Thanks. How much longer?"

Marui hummed as he pulled away, swinging around to drop into the seat next to him, "Nurse said Yukimura's check up is done. We should be able to leave as soon as vice-captain finishes talking to the doctor about all the precautions they should take for the next few days while the shots do their thing."

"Cool," Niou murmured, actively making an effort to look at the boy in front of him rather then the people around them. "This place just reminds me too much of when we thought he wouldn't come back."
