Author's Note: Whee! Finally an update! Took me long enough.
Lucius: It sure did.
Me: Oh, shut up, Blondie. I'm mean to you in this chapter.
Lucius: (sarcastically) Wonderful.
Me: (evil grin) Enjoy while Lucius takes cover guys.
A white faced Lucius turned back to the children.
"Uncle Lucius!" Harry cried, pointing behind him.
He whirled to face a Death Eater's mask and stepped back, whipping out his wand, glancing around as more Death Eaters surrounded the group.
"Stay close, kids."
The one before him chuckled.
"So you really have betrayed us, Lucius."
"Dolohov," he growled.
Antonin Dolohov removed his mask, smiling wickedly.
"Give me the prophecies, old friend."
"I am no friend of yours, and if any of you take one more step closer to us Harry and I will break them."
A mad chackle was heard that made Lucius shiver.
"You always did know how to play, Lucius."
"Bellatrix."
His mad sister-in-law stepped into view from behind Dolohov.
"Hello, Lucius."
The blond swallowed nervously, glancing around him.
"Harry, I'm open to suggestions," he murmured to his nephew behind him.
"I'm thinking."
The Death Eaters chuckled.
"Really, Lucius, do you honestly believe that mere children can stop us?" asked a burly man with short, dirty blond hair.
"I never said they had to stop you, Rowle."
"Now, guys!"
As one, the students attacked, crying, "Stupefy!"
Lucius fired his own spell at Dolohov and Bellatrix.
"Run, kids!"
The children raced after the Malfoy patricarch, Lucius and Harry still clutching their prophecies. They ran through the maze of shelves, seeking the door to leave. Hexes and curses sizzled over their heads, forcing them to turn and fight back. They ran through a door and fell, landing in what Lucius realized must be the Death Chamber.
"Everybody okay?" he asked, getting to his feet to stare at the stone archway.
A chorus of affirmative answers eased his worry, though his gaze remained on the archway, the voices from beyond the veil, soft and unable to be understood, assaulted his ears, despite being no louder than whispers.
"Uncle Lucius, do you hear the voices?"
"Yes, Harry."
"What are they saying?"
He tore his silvery gaze away to look upon his oldest nephew.
"I can't make it out. Only those about to pass would be able to understand them. If one was to step through the archway they would be swept away beyond the Veil."
Suddenly streaks of black smoke came flying around them, and the students quickly gathered behind Lucius. Once the smoke passed, Lucius and Harry looked around in horror to see the others held at wand point by Death Eaters. Dolohov approached, looking smug.
"Give me the prophecies, or watch them die. It's your choice."
There was a flash of light behind him, and he turned when Lucius and Harry both smirked to come face to face with Sirius Black.
"Get away from my godson and cousin."
He punched the Death Eater, knocking him down. Lucius quickly cast a strong Cushioning Charm on his prophecy and tucked it into his inner robe pocket. Remus, Tonks, Kingsley, and Moody arrived as well, freeing the kids. The students took cover, firing spells when needed to aid the Order members. Lucius found himself facing Thorfinn Rowle.
"I've got you now, traitor."
A savage battle broke out as the two former allies clashed, and Harry dove behind a rock for cover, watching his uncle battle. The duel ended up becoming an all-out fist fight when both wizard lost their wands. Rowle, after taking several blows, managed to recover his wand and pin Lucius.
"Prepare to die. Avada-"
He was cut off by a black robed figure tackling him from the side.
"Severus?!"
The potions master sneered hatefully at the big Death Eater.
"Never come near my family again!" he snarled, punctuating each word with a strong punch.
Rowle kicked him off and got up, wand at the ready. Severus and Lucius faced him, their wands also at the ready. The Death Eater hesitated. He knew how well the two men before him worked together. Even so, he attacked.
Harry watched in awe as his father and uncle fought in perfect sync with each other, quickly taking out the blond Death Eater.
"Keep your head down!" Moody yelled harshly to him, making him obey rather quickly.
Snape and Lucius slowly made their way towards Sirius and the archway. Out of the corner of his eye, Lucius saw Bellatrix fire a spell at Sirius.
"Sirius!" he cried, turning swiftly to his cousin.
The spell hit him, and he fell back. Lucius made a desperate grab for him, missing by a few inches, and could only watch in horror as Sirius fell through the archway. He started forward, only for a pair of strong arms to wrap around him, halting his progress.
"Let go!" he exclaimed, fighting the potions master's grip.
"Lucius! Lucius, stop!" Severus snapped.
Harry was running over only to be stopped by Remus.
"Sirius!" the boy cried.
Lucius continued to fight his friend's hold.
"Let me go, Severus!"
"There's nothing you can do! He's gone."
He sagged in the potions master's arms, refusing to let the tears that burned his eyes flow. Harry tore away from Remus and chased after Bellatrix.
"We must keep fighting, only Black will have died for nothing. Come, brother," Severus said gently into Lucius' ear.
The Malfoy patriarch launched back into battle with a vengeance. Several Death Eaters were defeated at his hands. His rage was almost palpable. Finally he calmed and led the children out into the Atrium where they found Albus Dumbledore kneeling beside Harry, who seemed to be having convulsions. Lucius almost instantly realized what was happening and dashed forward.
Harry struggled against Voldemort as his uncle came rushing over. He looked at him then at his friends until his gaze landed on his newly arrived father.
"You're the weak one, Voldemort. You'll never know love or friendship, and I feel sorry for you because of it."
His love for his family and friends pushed Voldemort away. Just then Fudge and Aurors arrived.
"He's back!" Fudge exclaimed just before the Dark Lord Disapparated.
Lucius finally snapped and turned on the Minister, his silver eyes blazing.
"Of course he's back! We've been telling you that for months!"
He looked set to tear Fudge apart and might have tried if Severus hadn't dashed over and restrained him,... barely.
"You idiot! You should have listened to us!"
"Lucius! Lucius, calm down!"
He only struggled all the harder. Finally, Snape turned him to face him and slapped the Malfoy patriarch across the face. For a moment Lucius looked stunned. Then he blinked, shook his head, and gingerly rubbed his stinging cheek.
"Thanks. I needed that."
"Just don't make me have to do it again. You know I hate doing that."
"I know, but all the same, thank you, brother."
Severus nodded then turned to Dumbledore and his now unconscious son. He, Lucius, and Remus took the students back to Hogwarts. Everyone was ushered into the Infirmary to be seen by Madam Pomfrey, and Remus flooed Narcissa, who came through. He sadly told her about Sirius and gently hugged her for a few moments as she cried for her cousin. She then looked around and soon spotted her husband, who was rather worse for the wear, arguing with Poppy, insisting she see to the students before checking him over.
"Go ahead, Poppy. I'll see that he stays here for you to check him once you're done with the students," she said as she came up to them.
The mediwitch sighed but went to check the students. Lucius was sitting on a chair, battered and bruised.
"Oh, my love," she crooned, gently embracing him.
He leaned into his wife's hold, sighing contentedly as she ran her fingers through his hair.
"You look like you were in a fist-fight."
"I was, with Rowle."
Narcissa kissed the top of her husband's head, and he hissed softly.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Is it sore there?"
"It's tender, but not really sore."
Just then Snape returned with Dumbledore on his heels.
"Thank goodness you're all okay."
Lucius then remembered the prophecy in his pocket. He called Severus over while Dumbledore spoke to and scolded the students.
"Severus, take this."
"How did you-"
"Just do it."
The raven haired man took the prophecy, and it sounded in his ears.
"Two who have walked the dark road shall return to the light. They will join forces and defeat the one who knows not the powers of his equal."
"It's us, Sev."
He checked the tag just be sure, and the blood drained from his face.
"Severus, are you all right? You look awful. Do you need Poppy to check you?" Dumbledore asked as he came over.
Wordlessly, the potions master held out the prophecy to him.
"Another prophecy?"
He nodded as the Headmaster took it, listening to the prophecy.
"You and Lucius? Incredible. I had thought it was Harry who was destined to defeat him."
Narcissa drew her husband closer, and he went willingly into her embrace, resting his rather weary head on her. She kissed him gently, earning groans and gags from the boys while the girls just smiled. Lucius ignored the boys' sounds of disgust, simply enjoying his wife's attention. He loved her deeply and would do almost anything for her. He knew that this new prophecy would bring her much worry over him.
End Note: So Dumbledore knows the new Prophecy now. Please review.
