"Come on, let's get you to your room,"
Riley escorted her up the stairs and to her bedroom.
Her walls were white except for the one wall where she had a bunch of polaroids stuck.
She crashed onto her bed, her deep green eyes staring up at Riley.
"Do you want to tell me what happened?" Riley asked her sitting next to her on her bed.
Clove shook her head lighting a cigarette she found on her bedside table.
"You sure?" he asked her.
She nodded blowing the smoke in the other direction.
"I'm going to go to the store, you want anything?" he asked Clove.
She shook her head and he walked out of her room giving her a weak smile.
As soon as she heard the door slam she took off her bikini and threw on her underwear.
She then galloped down the stairs to find her parents' hidden stash of tequila.
Nothing made her feel better than cigarettes and tequila.
It wasn't hard to find the bottle and she soon lit another cigarette and began reading the last book she had set aside for the summer.
Around twenty minutes later the doorbell rang and Clove pranced around until she finally opened the door in her underwear
with a bottle of tequila in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
"What a disappointment," she eyed Annie after opening the door before walking back into the kitchen.
Annie laughed before grabbing the bottle from Clove.
"Come on, were going to be late for my mothers annual dinner thing- I still don't know what it is," she continued chugging.
"Almost forgot about that," Clove wrapped her lips around the cancer stick placing the book on the counter.
Then suddenly the door flung open and Riley walked in with a couple of plastic bags.
Annie ogled him as he marched around in his worn out sneakers, jeans and a dark coloured baseball tee.
He smiled at her before gazing at Clove who was ever so modestly flaunting her body.
He laughed as he left the bags in the kitchen before running upstairs.
"You still banging him?" Annie asked Clove hoping for a no.
Clove nodded before scrunching up her nose and apologizing to her older friend.
"Come on, lets go get some clothes on you," Annie smiled as she and Clove ran up the stairs.
Within fifteen minutes they were down and ready waiting for Kat to pick them up.
Real pretty girls don't need hours to do their hair and makeup, real pretty girls are impulsive and that sureness is what makes them pretty.
"I'm going to go call Kat," Annie says as she makes her way out of the house while Clove struggles to get her feet into her heels.
"Need help?" Riley asks leaning against the doorframe.
"I'm fine," she huffs tripping a little as her foot finally slides in.
"You look pretty," Riley commented sipping on his can of beer.
Clove wore a full-sleeved pinkish coral dress that ended a little above her knees. Her hair was in a low bun and her feet sported a pair of pale turquoise heels.
Yes, Riley didn't say she looked hot or sexy or any other usual comments he'd spit out about the her appearance, no, he said she looked pretty, and that's all she wanted.
"Thank you," she smiled. Clove heard the car honk and immediately dashed out to her driveway.
