Diapers Chapter 6

Clare slowly lulled Nathan to sleep with a loving song. He closed his eyes and nuzzled closer to his mother. "Shh baby." She whispered lovingly as she lowered him back into the crib. She heard what sounded like a scream come from the other room. With wide eyes she looked back down at the boy to make sure he was still asleep. Luckily for her, he was.

She softly shut the door and ran down the hallway to the master bedroom. Eli was laying on the ground next to the bed curled up in a ball, gagging. "Shit!" Clare whisper-shouted. She grabbed the phone and immediantly called Bullfrog and Cece.

"Eli?"

"It's Clare! I need you to come watch Nathan now. I have to take Eli to the emergency room. How fast can you be here?"

"I'll be there in less than three minutes just keep the phone on the line. Get Eli to the hospital, it sounds urgent!"

Clare sat the phone down and ran to Eli, dropping to her knees. "Eli, Eli, look at me." His lips were swollen and blood dribbled down his chin. He was coughing it up into his hand choking once again.

"Baby, I have to get you to the car." She placed a hand around his waist and cautiously lifted him. He let out a moan and threw up. Tears were streaming down his burning face.

She walked as fast as she could to the hearse. She sat him in the front seat and didn't bother to buckle him, considering the hospital was only minutes away. She jumped in the front seat and jammed the keys in the ignition started the car and driving as face as she could down the quiet streets. Eli was gagging again and she was scared. His whimpered only made her step on the gas even harder.

They were almost there. Just a few more streets and they would be good. She crossed her fingers and luckily the light changed from red to green. The driver of a semi coming from the right didn't seem to notice. Clare screamed as she pushed on the breaks. The tires skidded but there was no stopping it. The semi probably didn't even see them as it collided into the passenger side of the hearse.
