Of everything he figured he'd have to do today, this certainly hadn't been on his list. Five years wasn't enough, it would never be enough, yet here he was going back to work for L. He didn't even know why he was doing this himself; maybe it was to be close to the one person who had actually known his son. There was lingering resentment however. His son gave his life, not for the people, not to stop the person he was with the notebook, but to save him. It wasn't for his family, his friends, the future he could have had. He hasn't found what it was about the detective that made Light-

Soichiro stopped walking. He took a deep breath to try to subdue the rising emotions. He may have been a murderer, he admitted to being Kira, but he that didn't stop him from being his son. He can't help but think there was something he should've been able to do. A tap on his shoulder pulled him from his thoughts.

"Chief? He's expecting us." He nodded to Matsuda, who seemed nervous enough as is and really didn't deserve to have his head snapped off for disturbing him. They continued their trek down the hallway until they reached the hotel room. After making sure his emotions were locked up tightly and thrown to the back of his mind, he knocked on the door.

Continuing into the room, he saw Aizawa and Mogi had already arrived. After Watari managed to get everyone seated, he left the room. He returned with L, slouching as always. He went straight to the only single chair in the room that gave him a good vantage point of the others.

He cocked his head to the side as his eyes scanned over everyone. "Am I correct to assume you've all heard of what has occurred in Karakura Town?"

"There was a bomb, right?" Matsuda said, trying his best to lighten the dark atmosphere in the mood with his light personality. As his chirper attitude was met with a formidable blank stare and quite a few irritated glances, he collapsed in on himself.

"Hm, well, that is what the Karakura Police Force would have you believe." L calmly raised his eyes from his tea cup to look towards person in the room. "There is a case and you are the only group of people who could possibly understand what we will be coming up against."

"Are you saying you want to bring the team back together?" Matsuda inquired excitedly. Nobody else spoke.

"I will require your assistance. If you are willing." He looked over to Soichiro as he said this before falling silent and waiting for the others to give their answer. Mogi remained still while Aizawa leaned forward slightly.

"What's happening?" He asked without looking up from where he rested his head on his hands.

"I can't tell you unless you've agreed to assist me." The four on the couches shared a look, communicating their answers silently before turning back to L. Soichiro shifted slightly, successfully drawing L's attention to him.

"As we said," He spoke slowly, adding a meaningful look for effect, "What has happened in Karakura Town?"

"Executed?" Incredulity laced Light's voice as he looked over to Aizen. "They can't be serious."

"It seems that they are." Aizen sighed with a touch of remorse. Lowering his voice, he leaned closer to Light. "The Commander has made up his mind."

Light glanced over at him as they continued walking through the Fifth Division halls. "You don't agree with his verdict." It wasn't a question. He knew they had similar opinions on this matter.

After a sweeping glance to ensure there were no wondering souls who could over hear, he motioned to a doo right behind Light. They stood in silence for a moment. "I don't believe Kuchiki Rukia deserves to die."

"What're we going to do?" Aizen looked up at the surety of Lights words, that he didn't doubt that something would be done about this injustice and that it would be them who did it. He lowered his head slightly, causing the fading sun shine to catch on his lenses.

"We may not need to do anything." At Lights look of anger, he went on to say, "We aren't the only ones who think this way. We need only to assist those who do intervene."

"You want to leave it to others to make right? If they don't?"

"We'll have a plan in place. To be safe." Light nodded, albeit reluctantly, and they left the room to continue with their duties. "You should head back to the Twelfth before Mayuri misses you too much." With those parting words, Aizen walked into his office, closing the door behind him. Light stood there for a moment. He shook his head a bit and continued onto his Division.
