Fionna flew home with Marshall, waiting until the Sun ducked behind the horizon. Nightfall looms over them with a feeling of comfort. "Are you ready for this?" Fionna looks over, trying to search for hope in his answer.
"I'll try to be prepared, Fi, But anything can happen." He looks worried, but there is an elated tone in his voice.
"I guess that's true, but let's focus on the positive. Soon we'll have 2 little vampire babies a-and they'll be cute... and sweet lit... little things." Her eyes start drooping. Marshall puts his arms around her waist.
"C'mon, Fi. Just a few more minutes and you can rest all you want." He vows. Her eyes completely shut as her entire weight is intensified, she loses power. "Fionna. please, not again." He sets her down in the grass, breathing frantically. Her eyes open slowly.
"Wha-what happened?" She rubs her head, confused.
"You blacked out for a few minutes." He whispers softly, staring cautiously.
"Can I just go home and rest?" She pleads.
"Sure. I'll make you dinner, Fi. These twins must be hungry" He half laughs, picking her up. She nods absently.
Once again, they go home and doubt lingers in Fionna's mind. They both eat apples, Marshall's favorite and he notices her concern. She eats, but she just stares into space. "Are you okay?" He asks. She nods, not speaking. "Still shaky from the fainting?" She nods again. Then her eyes well up with tears but she stays silent, quietly leaning into his arms.
"Marshall, I don't think I can do this." She exhales.
"What? Why?" His voice soothes her.
"I don't think I have the strength. You heard the nurse, they could suck the life out of me."
"Fi, I think that was a joke. Just eat more, and don't exert too much energy." He strokes her fine blonde hair. "I think you need more red." He gets up and tosses her 2 tomatoes.
"Thank you, Marshall." She embraces him tight.
"No problem, Fi. I'll be here to help. Always." He kisses her forehead, causing her to grin.
