The last few nights have been eerie with Fionna able to go into labor at any moment. Marshall has taken extra precautions of always being with her with her and having the nurses at the candy infirmary on speed dial incase something happens. Fionna has been a bit exhausted and weary from the twins taking up so much energy, but she tried to stay as positive as possible. "Negative energy affects the womb." Warned Cake when Fionna was visiting one day. The blonde vampire inches her way down the stairs with her stomach looking as big as it could possibly be. "Hey Marshall." She smiles and he looks at his beautiful wife. Even in this state, she's the most beautiful woman in the planet. "Hey Fi." His grin makes her smile. She groans and kneels on the steps. She sucks in air quickly. "Fi! What's wrong?" She shakes her head. "Don't worry, Marshall. Just a strong kick. That's all." She grins. He isn't convinced. "Are you sure?" His eyebrow raises. She rolls her eyes. "Yes." She smiles again. "Your protectiveness is killing me, babe." She kisses his cheek. "It's my job." He winks. Fionna's stomach pulses with pain again, dull and throbbing in time with her twin's heart beat. She grits her teeth and Marshall's content feeling fades away. "Fionna. Something's wrong." His eyes narrow. It is now day time and he quickly gets the umbrella promptly next to the door. They fly out the door with Marshall insistently trying to carry her. She refuses. He shrugs but they make it to the infirmary before they know it. He rushes her in, pushing her forward by her back. She grunts at him being so controlling but she guesses he just cares a lot. "Excuse me, may we see Nurse Poundcake?" He controls his voice to the receptionist behind the counter. "Yeah, I'll take you to her. I'm guessing you're going through labor, miss?" She suggests. "Oh, no. Just some contractions." She smiles. Her eyes shift down, masking her worry. They float down the hall to the third door on the left. "Wait here, and change into this paper gown." She hands Fionna a stiff uncomfortable dress with barely a back. It's more fragile than butterfly wings and Fionna feels like she's about to rip it. "I'll send her in immediately." She rushes out, closing the door behind her. Fionna reluctantly changes with the help of Marshall who sneaks glances at her body, causing Fionna to shove him away playfully. 3 knocks at the door signal Nurse Poundcake. She rushed in. "Okay so how dilated are you? When did your water break? How long ago did this start?" Marshall and Fionna exchange glances. "I thinks there's a mistake. I'm not in labor. Just in a bit of pain." She looks down sheepishly. "Oh." The nurse looks somewhat disappointed. "I'll take a look." She starts examining Fionna, paying attention to the pulse radiating from her stomach. "This is quite a heart beat from such a tiny life form." She smiles, moving the stethoscope over her stomach. "Wait, what?" Fionna asks puzzled. "I said your baby has a strong heartbeat." She smiles brightly. "But... What about the other?" She asks. The nurse's smile fades, rechecking her stomach. "Fionna. There's only one heartbeat in here." She frowns, tearing up. Fionna stares in disbelief. Her throat clenches up. One. One twin.
