Chapter 26: Who shall be saved?

Rin's POV

Today's the fated day. Finally.

Gakupo-san agreed with my plan. He happened to be clueless about everything, and offered his help in compensation of what Aunt Luka had to go through for him.

I managed to make Len not worry. I hope he'd trust me with what I'm about to do. I felt really guilty about lying to him.

Miku-nee... I hope she relays my message when all of these are over.

Classes are about to end. As soon as Lenka steps out of Crypton, everything starts.

Meiko-san's plan. Defoko's plan. And... my plan.

I wonder...how would fate bring us to what we all want?

The bell rang, signifying the end of classes. Len went towards me and we hurried to go out.

We went home first, changed into the proper fighting attire with me as Rinta, and left to the warehouse.

Now, the play shall start.

When we arrived, a stream of yellow and red were seen. Aunt Luka was with the Red Family, and my Kagamine men were there as well.

Aunt Luka, since she didn't know I was already acquainted with the Red Society, introduced me to Meiko-san and Akaito-san.

I saw Lenka tied on the chair. She had a frightened look on her face. She was crying.

She'll make a very good actress. I just know it.

"Rin... how could you do this to me..?" she said as she sobbed.

"Blame that thug Hagane for involving you in this." I coldly said. "Oh, excuse me, I have a phone call. I'm out for a bit." I said and excused myself. I went outside, and once I was out I went to the backside of the warehouse where Gakupo-san was hiding.

"Everything's set?" he asked.

"Yes. Could you hear me properly? Is the receiver working?" I asked back.

"I heard you. You're a good actress, your friend too!" he complimented.

"Thank you for the compliment, Gakupo-san." I smiled. "I'll be saying the cue words, okay? Really, thank you for agreeing to my plan. Rinto might be here soon, so I'll be going!" I bowed and left.

I entered the warehouse to see that it was still the same. Lenka was crying; Len was guarding her if ever she escapes, and Aunt Luka was giving pointers to Akaito and Meiko. I went near Lenka and Len, and a shout halted my steps.

"Release Lenka at once!"

I turned around to see Rinto, fuming in anger.

"You're finally here, you bastard!" I shout back and start attacking him with my tonfas.

He dodged and ordered his men, "Men, get them!"

His men came in the warehouse and started fighting with our men. They were already told to act, and they were doing well.

"Don't let them have their way in here! Get them!" Aunt Luka ordered.

"Yes, Luka-sama!" Meiko and Akaito said.

I fought with Rinto, who can't bring out his gun yet since I was cornering him with short range attacks.

We didn't notice, according to our plan, that a Hagane unties Lenka from her chair, and she pushes me back from Rinto. "Don't hurt him!" she said.

"Lenka... you!" I said in false anger and went for the two of them. Rinto pushed Lenka behind him and took out his gun.

"As if I'm letting you hurt her!" he said as he rushed towards me, and he had his gun on my head, and my tonfa was on his neck.

On cue, Len had his sword on Aunt Luka's neck.

"Got you." he said.

Rinto and I let each other go, and I faced Aunt Luka and Len.

"What is the meaning of this?!" Aunt Luka asks in disbelief.

Just a bit more, Aunt Luka.

"It's payback time for all you did to Teto-chan!" Meiko said in anger. With her brass knuckles, she aimed for Aunt Luka.

"Aria! Now!" Aunt Luka shouted. I saw a member of Red going to charge and block Meiko's attack.

Of course, none of them assumed that Aunt Luka had a personal servant with her. Except me, of course.

Why did I know? Since I was the one who told Aunt Luka to always bring Aria with her as her personal servant.

Aria, or as we call her, IA, was my cousin, Aunt Luka's daughter. She was taught how to fight since Aunt Luka entered the mafia. She was...Aunt Luka and Gakupo-san's daughter. Aunt Luka learned that she had a baby after she was separated from Gakupo-san. But she could no longer find Gakupo-san, that's why she was raised alone by Aunt Luka.

Aria didn't hesitate to help. All she said was...

"If it's for mom to be together with dad, I'd do anything for mom to smile."

Aunt Luka was always scared to lose IA whenever they go out for mafia stuff, and she always kept her true existence a secret from everyone. Well, except from me and Miku-nee.

And back to the current situation. Meiko backed away when IA blocked her attack to Aunt Luka.

"How..?!" Meiko said disbelievingly.

"Are you okay, Lady Luka? The alert has been sent to Lady Purple." IA said. Alert? What alert? Lady Purple? Is it Defoko?

"I'm okay, thank you, Aria." she said and smiled. But then her expression turned into an angry one. "Meiko! How could you do this to me?! Rin, explain!"

It's time. This shall turn everything.

"Tunas are better with eggplants!" I shout the cue words. I rushed to Len and pushed him away from Aunt Luka.

"I'm sorry, Len." I muttered. I looked at him, expecting a surprised face, but I saw him smile instead.

"I believe you, Rin."

I looked at him with surprise. Does he know? Why isn't he mad?

Rinto, Lenka, Meiko, and Akaito were all surprised with the turn of events. Meiko looked at me as if I was a traitor.

But then, since I said the cue words, he appeared at the entrance of the warehouse.

"Luka? Is that you?" Gakupo asked, slowly walking towards Aunt Luka.

"Gakupo? You're here? How come..?" Aunt Luka said, her tears brimming in her eyes.

Of course, Meiko wouldn't let this chance to slip by. She still pushed through and went to attack Aunt Luka. I was about to block it when Rinto was the one who blocked Meiko, and Lenka hugged Meiko from behind, stopping her from going any further.

"You're so unfair, Rin. You should've told us." Rinto said. My face was filled with shock. How did they know?

"We're comrades, right? You don't have to do it all by yourself. We're here!" Lenka said and smiled at me.

Len went to stop Akaito who was about to go for Rinto and Lenka. "I promised you, didn't I? That I'd believe you."

My eyes stung with tears. "Seriously, you guys... how did you know?"

"Miku-nee." the three said in unison. Aww, I told her not to tell anyone! Hmm, I can't do anything about it, and at least the plan isn't ruined yet.

"Now, Akaito-san, Meiko-san. Could you please calm down for a second? We'll show you the truth." I said, and led all their attention to Aunt Luka and Gakupo.

Gakupo hugged Aunt Luka, who was surprised by everything.

"I'm sorry, Luka. I'm sorry you had to go through all of this. I'm sorry..."

Aunt Luka cried. "Where have you been, you moron? I've been ruining lives just to find you. Where did your mother send you?"

"Mom told me to study in US, and when I told her I can't because I was going to propose to you, she booked a flight for me due the next day. I came back just a few weeks ago, and I heard you quit modeling. Now, now, you don't have to do all these... I'm sorry mom had to make you suffer..." Gakupo said as he calmed Aunt Luka down.

"I hated everything I did... I didn't want my own brother to die... I didn't want to cripple a small girl... I didn't want to ruin the life of my niece... I just wanted you; I didn't want you to get hurt because of your mom..."

"She was a victim of love." I stated. With those words, Meiko understood what is happening.

Like Aunt Luka did to Akaito, Aunt Luka was also manipulated by her love.

"Are you... dad?" IA asked Gakupo. He was surprised by IA's question, and released Luka in his grasp.

"We...have a child?" he asked Aunt Luka in surprise.

"Yes. Your great mom just happened to get you away from me, and I couldn't tell you anymore. I raised her myself." Aunt Luka said and smiled.

"My daughter... I'm so sorry...", he said and hugged IA.

"It's okay, daddy. Mommy is smiling now because of you, and I'm okay with that." IA said.

"What did you name her, Luka?" Gakupo-san asked.

"Aria. Kamui Aria. Call her IA." Aunt Luka answered.

"It's a beautiful name for a beautiful girl. It's a shame I couldn't look after you when you were born." Gakupo-san said.

IA flicked her finger to his father's forehead. "Just don't leave mommy this time, okay?"

Gakupo-san ruffled IA's hair and nodded. "Yes, ma'am."

We all watched them there, the reuniting of a ruined family. We were all smiling. I did it, didn't I? I managed to save Aunt Luka, right?

I was about to answer yes to my questions, when I heard a bang. Then I felt pain on my left shoulder. Blood started to soak the sleeve of my coat.

"Rin!" Len shouted and rushed to my direction. "Are you alright? Hang in there!"

"Megurine Luka, you bitch. I knew you'd betray me soon." the dreaded woman of purple said.

"D-defoko-sama... I-i..." Aunt Luka stuttered in fear. Gakupo-san went in front of her and hid her behind him.

"Mom! Stop this. You can't do this anymore." Gakupo-san said sternly.

"Shut up, you fool! Who told you to leave USA? Leave that woman, now!" Defoko said in an authoritative tone.

Gakupo-san didn't budge. "I won't leave her the second time. Mom, what's your problem with her? Why couldn't you accept that I love her?"

"I could never accept a member of the Kagamine family!"

I clutched my wound from the bullet. "Hey... Defoko-san... what's your problem with our family? What...what wrong did we ever do?"

"You're nothing but a clueless brat! Don't give me those innocent questions when you don't even know anything!"

"Then would you mind explaining then?! You accuse us of being clueless brats, but you're not even talking, you old hag!" I shouted. I could see her eyebrows twitch in anger.

"How dare you call me an old hag! Your parents are bad in raising a child like you!" she said angrily.

"I wasn't even given a chance to be properly raised by my parents when I became a teenager! You and your grudge took away my parents!"

"Because your great parents killed my husband!" she blurted out.

What? My parents did?

"What? You're shocked now? It's the truth. Your parents killed my husband. And I will never ever forgive them for it!"

"Luki-nii never killed your husband! You're a liar! Your husband was his good friend!" Aunt Luka shouts.

"Then how do you explain the gun in his hand at the place of my husband's death? How?!" Defoko angrily replies.

"Defoko." a familiar woman's voice could be heard.

"Lily?!" Aunt Luka utters in shock. "How...?!"

"Mom! Why did you get out?!" I asked in frustration. She shouldn't have left! She'll be in trouble!

"Defoko, Luki wasn't the one who killed your husband." Mom states with conviction.

"As if I'd believe y-", Defoko's ranting was stopped by mom's statement.

"It was your father, Defoko."

Defoko-san's face fell. "Are you kidding me? Dad has been missing ever since I got married. He didn't stay with me. Can't you think up of a better lie?"

But there were three men in the front door, two men were holding up a man who had his hands cuffed.

"D-defoko... dear..." the cuffed man spoke.

"You've got to be kidding me..." Defoko said, dumbfounded. She stared at the man wide-eyed.

"I'm sorry... I took... your husband's life. I didn't... approve of him for you. Forgive me. I didn't... think of your feelings. Now... let them go. The Kagamine... never had anything to do with this. I just placed... the blame on Luki-kun... I'm sorry... Defoko. I love you..." the man said as his breath collapsed. The two men with him caught him before he fell to the floor.

"Dad... No... This can't be..." Defoko's tears started to fall. She looked at mom with rage. "How dare you, Kagamine! Even using dad to cover for you! You'll pay for this!"

She grabbed onto the chair Lenka sat on a while ago, and was about to hit mom's head with it.

I'm not going to lose anyone now. No more.

I ran to the space between the chair and mom. I was welcomed with the collision of the chair to my head.

And everything went black.
