Well, here's the next chapter! I'm pretty sure I'm about to fail all of my end of year exams. Fuck.
Enjoy!
"Sakura!" Syaoran ran over to the caramel haired girl who was staring at the piece of paper that had been dropped on the floor crying. His eyes widened as he saw the dead butterfly on the ground. "Oh my god…" he picked up the letter and read it, slamming it down on the bench in frustration. "That disgusting bastard!" he shouted. Sakura grabbed the edge of the bench and helped herself up to Syaoran's side. "Let me read it," her voice shook as she spoke, "No." Syaoran said. "Syaoran, please; I have to read it." Sakura pleaded. He reluctantly handed her the letter, allowing her to read it.
My dearest Sakura,
How much I have missed you I cannot say as my words will never be able to portray my feelings for you. My love, please come fluttering back into my arms like you once did; just like a beautiful and rare butterfly of Clow. How I long to see you again my beautiful butterfly; please accept my invitation to the place where flowers bloom all year round and this rare blue butterfly as a token of my love for you.
I hope to see you soon my dearest butterfly,
Satoshi
Sakura trembled as she read the letter, disgusted and freaked out by the words and her little 'present'. She noticed something else written underneath the letter; R.L. Sakura didn't quite understand what the initials meant, but she was sure that he did it to taunt her in some way. Everything span, and she found that she couldn't stand anymore; she fell to the floor, losing consciousness. The last thing she saw was Syaoran moving to her side quickly to help her before everything blacked out.
The sound of waves crashing against the bottom of the cliff startled the seagulls floating atop the water into taking flight. The scent of the ocean drifted along with the soft summer breeze and through the field of flowers where Sakura was standing; the wind drifted around her body, gently pulling on her white summer dress. She turned to see the outline of a figure standing on the other side of the field holding out their hand for her and only her. She ran through the field of flowers and jumped into their arms, sending flowers and flower petals into the air. As they caught her she pulled back so that she could see his face, only to scream as she saw the face of the person she hated most.
Syaoran had to pin her arms down to stop them from flailing about. He called out her name in hopes that she'd wake up, but his attempts didn't seem to get through to her. He called her name out again, only slightly louder, hoping that perhaps this time she might wake up. Luckily, she did; her eyes flew open, and her screaming ceased. Her breathing slowed to regular pace and her head throbbed. "Are you alright?" He asked her softly. "Yeah, yeah I think so." She replied quickly, still remembering her nightmare. "Do you want to tell me about it?" he asked. "It wasn't anything really…just…him…" she murmured more to herself than to Syaoran as she went to get out of the bed she was sleeping in. "Where do you think you're going?" he asked. "I have to go there and get rid of him-
"Go where?"
"Oh my god-you're just like your brother-questioning my every move!" she snapped. Her eyes widened with shock as she realised what she'd just said. "I'm sorry I…" her eyes were tearing up, and she couldn't get her words right. "You've met my brother?" He asked, completely surprised. "Yeah…my sister, Rena, introduced me to him." Sakura answered.
"How does Rena know him?"
"They're married…you mean he didn't tell you?"
"Why wasn't I invited….? I didn't even know he was back in the country."
"Well maybe you should go see him." Sakura suggested.
"Maybe."
The two sat in silence for a few minutes, both off in their own world. "I'm going to go have a shower…" Sakura said before disappearing into the bathroom. Syaoran watched her slide the door closed and stood up to walk out to the kitchen where he had placed his phone on the bench. He picked it up to see if there were any messages from anyone, and was surprised to see that he had a missed call from his brother. He dialled the number and waited for him to pick up; "Howdy." He answered. "You could have told me you were coming back to visit." Syaoran greeted. "Not visiting-staying." His brother corrected. "And I hear you're married to Sakura's sister-where was my invitation?"
"Yeah about that…"
Syaoran listened while his brother explained his and Rena's circumstances. "You what?!"
"Hey-that country is weird. But yeah, now they're looking for us. So we're here for good."
"I swear…when will you stop getting into trouble?"
"Probably never…but I really don't care since I'm good at what I do for a living over here."
"I guess that's alright then. Next time tell me you're back over here."
"Sorry. I had a hard time getting back over here."
"Alright then…when did you meet Sakura?"
Sakura stared at herself in the mirror; there was a scar in her thigh where she'd had the knife pulled through her leg. She turned around to look at her back in the mirror which was covered in scars created by Satoshi in the shape of wings. "Syaoran…" she whispered his name to herself; this is for their protection, she reminded herself. She pulled on the black dress that she wore whenever she went to fight crime; it was sleeveless and the skirt of the dress came to just below her thighs, making it easier for her to move around in. She pulled on her black boots that she always wore with the dress and then proceeded to dry her hair before tying it back into a pony tail.
Sakura looked out her door to see what Syaoran was doing. She noticed that he was on the phone to his brother, giving her the perfect chance to sneak out the front door. She opened it and slipped out discreetly, shutting the door quietly and headed off towards the nearest train station.
She bought a one way ticket to Serenity Beach, the most famous beach in Clow. It was notable for its clear blue waters and the soft fine sand that children made sandcastles with. A few miles down the shore were cliffs-on the top of them the most beautiful flowers bloomed all year round. They were flowers native to Clow called Flowers of the Night. The fields were covered with pink, blue, purple and yellow blossoms creating a beautiful scene for the eye, but their true beauty lay within the night of the full moon.
Sakura looked up as her train arrived and boarded; there was hardly anyone on the train apart from a few families. She sat down and opened her small shoulder bag. She pulled out the gun holster that she wore on her right thigh and put it on and then proceeded to pull the gun out and load it before putting it in the holster as well as attaching three daggers to the belt around her thigh. She loaded the two other guns and put them back into her bag with more daggers; about ten in total. She closed her bag and put it back over her shoulder before fixing her dress to hide the guns and daggers that were strapped to her thigh.
During her trip a few more families who were heading for the beach boarded the train. Next to Sakura sat a young girl, probably around seven or eight. She felt something tug on her bag and looked over to find the child looking inside; Sakura placed her hand atop the child's, frightening her. She looked up at Sakura with guilty eyes, but instead of being mad Sakura smiled. "Would you like to see one?" She asked the young girl. "Can I?" she asked. Sakura pulled out one of the daggers, knowing that that was what the girl was looking at in her bag. She held it out to the child who looked at it, infatuated by the weapon in her hand. Sakura was just thankful that the little girl didn't know how to pull it out of its sheath. "What do you think?" Sakura asked her. "It's so cool!" the little girl replied enthusiastically. "They're very dangerous weapons and aren't to be thought of lightly; is there anything in particular that you think is cool about it?" Sakura asked with a smile. The young girl seemed to be thinking intensely about what she'd just been asked. She looked up at Sakura with a huge grin on her face, "I'm not really sure! I guess it just reminds me of my favourite movie!" she answered brightly. "What about the movie does it remind you of?"
"Well, there's this girl who fights evil guys and she can't catch this one guy so she goes after him and throws her dagger to stick him to the wall! I think it's really awesome! I'm sorry for looking through your bag…"
Sakura laughed. "That's alright sweetie; here, if you ever want to talk about daggers again, you can call me on this number alright?" Sakura handed the young child her card with her name and mobile number on it. The girls' eyes lit up with delight as she took the card. "You're an FBI agent! That is so cool!"
"I guess it is." Sakura laughed. The girl reminded her of when she was seven; so innocent and curious.
It wasn't long until the train arrived at Serenity station; Sakura stepped off the train and immediately set off down the footpath to her intended destination.
It seems that Sakura has a lot of secrets to hide…and what is she going to do? What do the initials R.L. mean? You shall have to find out!
I hope this was interesting. Review? I want to know your thoughts :P
