You know, I really hate those days where every thirty seconds you need to fart. You really don't need to know that but I feel like venting…to total strangers…It's because I'm too awesome. I kid, I kid.
Anyway, this is the final chapter! I hope you all enjoy it and thank you to all who have followed the story through to the end! Enjoy!
Sakura walked down the halls lined with prison cells full of the most dangerous and psychotic criminals in existence. She was taken to a cell that had extra security measures for keeping the prisoner from escaping; things such as steel walls and doors that couldn't be penetrated with anything, not even if any type of explosive surrounded it. The inside of it was simply white; there was no colour of any sort inside the cell, just white. Sitting in the centre wearing a strait jacket was Satoshi; he looked up upon Sakura's entrance, smiling. "And to what do I owe you the pleasure of today?" he asked. Sakura stopped and looked at one of the guards, "Use any means to get what you want from him." They said before leaving the two alone. She nodded her thanks and walked around to stand behind him. "Where's my locket?" she asked softly, yet a hint of anger still escaped her lips. "Ah, so that's what you want to know." He laughed. "Where is it?" she asked again, a little slower. "If I'm correct your team should be going through my house right now; you'll never find it." He answered. Sakura thought for a moment-to many it would seem that he was just trying to piss her off, but he was also in a way telling Sakura where it was. She ran the memories of all things significant to both her and Satoshi, trying to figure out where he would have put it. "They've probably taken it away by now to use as evidence against me in court." He smirked. "You just gave me the answer by telling me that." Sakura murmured. "What?" he asked confused. "The answer-you just gave it to me." She said more clearly. "How?" he asked. "You should know I'm a genius in all areas-it doesn't take long to figure it out with the right clues. I've already been to your place today, and I just remembered that anything in a jar was going to be taken away due to whatever may be encased inside. Thank you." She smirked. His facial expression turned to that of an irritated teenager. Sakura pulled out her phone and dialled Yuui's number. "Look for a jar with rainbow sand in it. Don't count on the lid being able to come off-he would have glued it tightly shut." She instructed her cousin while staring directly at Satoshi. She hung up and put her phone away before changing her position to standing in front of him. "What happened to all of the men in your family after the girls were sacrificed?" Sakura questioned. "I thought you would have already figured that out by now." He replied smugly. "They died with them." Sakura said. "Bingo." Satoshi whistled. "I've got all the information I need-see you at your trial, fiend." Sakura spat as she left the cell.
Syaoran waited by Sakura's old desk for her return, watching as Yuui and his team mates walked through with the evidence and set them down at a large round table in the middle of the room. There were several boxes full of different types of jars and other strange objects, but Yuui was carrying one jar in particular; a jar full of six layers of different coloured sand. The blonde approached Syaoran with the jar in his hand and set it down on the desk that Sakura worked at. "Sakura requested this particular jar-I'm not sure why, but I'm sure that it's important." Yuui murmured. "When will she be back?" Syaoran asked, worried about her mental state and her safety. "She literally just walked through the door." Yuui laughed as he watched his cousin walk through. Syaoran looked over his shoulder in the direction that Yuui was looking in and also watched as his lover walked over. "I never believed that she'd ever be able to stand and walk strong again; I am grateful that you have helped her recover Syaoran." Yuui smiled, holding out his hand for Syaoran to shake. "I'm glad that I was able to help her get back onto her feet." Syaoran smiled, taking his friends' hand. "Thanks for getting the jar." Sakura thanked her cousin as she walked up to them, taking the jar. "No problem-what are you expecting to be inside it…?" he asked. "My locket." Sakura replied flatly as she took it from the table and smashed it. Sure enough, in amongst the coloured sand was a gold heart with engravings of intricate cherry blossoms in the middle of the heart. She opened the locket and sighed with relief; the photo of her mother was still there, but it had been placed back over something else. She carefully removed her mother's photo to reveal a picture of herself lying on the bed of her prison, bleeding. She ripped it out and slammed it onto the desk. "Evidence." She hissed before walking away. Yuui picked up the photo and cringed. Syaoran stared at it unbelievingly. It was no wonder that Sakura couldn't bear to look at any of the other evidence considering the photo. "Go after her-she needs you." Yuui said as he pushed Syaoran towards the door. Yuui watched as the brown haired man ran over to her and pulled her into his arms, allowing her to cry into his chest. "That locket was our mother's, and he tarnished it by putting an unpleasant memory inside it. He truly is a cruel man." Rena's voice came from behind, startling him. "Even so, she'll keep it. She knows that as long as he's by her side, she can stand stronger than him. If he wanted to break her that badly, he would have killed Syaoran the moment he realised that they were together." Yuui said darkly. "I'm glad he didn't." Rena scoffed.
-Four Months Later-
Rena walked back inside with a postcard with a photo attached from Sakura and Syaoran. "We have another postcard from them!" she called out as she waddled over to the couch. "What's it say?" Syaoron asked from the kitchen. "Uhh, hang on let me read it."
Hey guys!
We're currently over in Switzerland and it is freezing! Should be back sometime in April.
Lately we've been skiing-it's really fun! Syaoran laughed at me because I got distracted by a snow rabbit and fell flat on my face-how mean. If there's anything you want us to get you (or if anyone else wants us to get anything) you know how to reach us!
I'll keep you informed!
-Sakura
"Twins really are alike in every aspect." Syaoron laughed. "And what's that supposed to mean!?" Rena snapped. "Getting distracted by something and then falling flat on their face-that seems to be a skill only you two share." He answered. "Oh shut up!" Rena bit back. Syaoron laughed and continued making dinner for the two of them.
Sakura lay next to Syaoran in bed, looking into his deep brown eyes. She smiled, making Syaoran smile. "What's going through your mind right now?" he asked. "I'm just so glad that I'm able to be here with you. It's like a gift." She smiled softly. "To be honest, I think I've been given the gift." He laughed. "Oh, how's that?" Sakura asked curiously as she snuggled up to him. "I don't know; the fact that I got to meet you and fall in love with you is a pretty reasonable gift." He answered. "It's so cold." Sakura complained. "I can keep you warm." He smirked. "Quiet you." She laughed, leaning in for a deep passionate kiss. They held each other tightly, kissing and running their hands over each other's bodies. For them, it was another night of peace and comfort, finally ridden of their murderous enemy and his underlings. The girls were free, however they weren't free of the memories, and probably never will be. Nothing could get in the way of their love for one another now, but even knowing that, Sakura still felt uneasy about their future. "Syaoran…" She whispered his name. "What's wrong?" he asked softly as he brushed some of her hair out of her face. "You know I can't have children, yet we haven't told anyone else about it…are you sure you'll be happy with me the way I am?" she asked, sadness and need swimming about in her beautiful jade green eyes. Syaoran smiled, "That's what you're worried about?" Sakura looked at him confused. "I knew that even though we can't have children, I'd still want to stay by your side no matter what. Besides, if we find that we'd like to raise a child in the future, we can always adopt." He continued to smile, not even fazed by the fact that Sakura was unable to have children. Tears of happiness trickled down Sakura's cheeks, relieved to hear those words. "I'm so glad…" she whispered.
-A Few Years Later-
"Syaoran-the cat's stuck on the roof again!" Sakura called from the garden as she watered the flowering buds in the summer heat. "Coming!" he called from inside the house, stopping what he was doing and walking out to where Sakura was. "Where is she?" he asked, looking up at the roof seeking the tabby. "She's up there somewhere. You can hear her." Sakura laughed. Syaoran thought for a moment and looked at his wife. She looked back at him out the corner of her eyes, wondering what he was thinking. "What?" she asked. "Can I borrow the hose for a minute?" he asked. She stared at him for a moment before handing him the hose, sceptical of what he was about to do. "Be nice." Sakura told him as he took the hose and pointed it up at the roof. Sure enough, Tabby came flying down a nearby tree and away from the wet. "There you go." He smiled, handed the hose back to Sakura so that she could continue to water the plants. "I don't know if I should say thank you or not." She smiled and kissed him on the lips softly. "Anytime sweet heart." He smirked and walked back into the house to finish the cleaning.
A few hours later the guests that they'd been expecting finally arrived, the first of them being Rena and Syaoron with their son, Shinji. Following behind were Fai, Chii, Yuui and Freya with their child, Rina. Tomoyo and Kurogane showed up shortly after, carrying a box of presents-most likely for everyone. "Hey guys, merry Christmas." Sakura greeted cheerfully as she let them all in. A large Christmas tree sat in the corner of the lounge room, decorated with red and silver decorations; small birds that clipped onto the branches of the tree, both decorated and plain baubles and some beautiful glass ornaments decorated the tree's branches, and to top the tree off was a beautiful angel in a red dress. The way the lights had been placed around the top of the tree made the angel look as if it was glowing. "Wow Syaoran, I didn't think you had those sorts of ornaments." Chii exclaimed. "Actually, they're mine." Sakura admitted. "You have awesome taste! I knew that from the moment we went shopping for clothes together, and especially your wedding dress-you looked spectacular in that!" Chii happily rambled. "Thanks Chii." Sakura laughed.
They all sat down for their Christmas dinner, chatting as they ate and drank wine. "Oh-I saw on the news that Rika had been released from jail." Chii piped up mid-conversation. "Hopefully she's learned her lesson." Syaoran and his brother muttered under their breath. Rena and Sakura looked at the two boys, still not quite understanding why they hated her so much-apart from the fact that she was, actually, a selfish bitch. But there was more behind it, and the two girls knew that, but they also knew that they shouldn't ask-some things were best left unsaid. "At least we know that Satoshi won't be escaping from his prison cell." Fai laughed. "Yeah, no kidding." Yuui joined in. Syaoran looked out the corner of his eye, noticing that Sakura began to feel uncomfortable. "Who's up for some Christmas pudding?" Syaoran asked, stopping the topic of conversation. "Sure, sounds lovely." Rena grinned. "Alright, I'll go get it-it should be ready by now anyway." Syaoran stood up from the table and walked over to the preparation area, opening the oven and pulling out the pudding. He gave each person a piece if they wanted some, and sat down at the table starting up another topic of conversation.
Throughout the night they played a couple of card games before opening presents, and nearly every game either Yuui or Fai lost. "You're not usually this bad." Freya laughed. "I'm not usually up against a genius and several others." Yuui muttered. "Ha! Stop making excuses."
"Can we open presents now?" Rina pleaded, tugging on her mothers' dress. "Sure, why not?" Sakura smiled. Shinji and Rina looked at each other and Hi-Fived as if they'd achieved their goal. "Are you two planning something?" Rena glared at them. "Totally." Shinji grinned. "Children…" Rena muttered under her breath. Sakura laughed at her sister.
Opening the presents didn't take long, and before long everyone had left to go home and retire to their beds. Sakura was exhausted and fell asleep quickly, before Syaoran had the chance to ask her if everything was alright. The thought probed at his mind and wouldn't leave him alone, keeping him awake. Is there something she's not telling me? Lately every time his name is mentioned she gets uncomfortable. He wondered what could possibly be bothering her, whether or not she knew something about any sort of insecurity of Satoshi's cell or if it was just the memories catching up to her.
Sakura stood before the corpse of another young nineteen year old girl in the middle of the woods a few miles away from a popular biking track. Her wounds were the same as the ones that covered her own back-the wing insignia. She turned as she heard the footsteps of someone hurrying down the hill to tell her something, and from the look of urgency in his eyes it was of extreme importance. "Yuui-what's wrong?" Sakura asked. "He's escaped the prison, and we believe he's coming for you again-Sakura I'm so sorry." He panted.
Her eyes shot open, sweat dripping down her face. Her heart raced. It was just a nightmare. She thought to herself as she sat up. "Sakura?" Syaoran said her name, his voice full of worry. "It's alright-it was just the same nightmare that's been haunting my dreams for the last year." Her voice wavered as she spoke, feeling tears fall down her face. "What was it about?" He asked, pulling her back down to the pillows and into his arms. "I keep seeing the corpse of this girl…her back is covered with the same sort of wings as are on my back, and she has the same sort of wounds on her as I did when I was first admitted to hospital…I hear Yuui running down the hill to find me, and when I turn to him he says that Satoshi has escaped from the prison…and that he's after me…I'm afraid Syaoran-I'm afraid that my dream may be a reality." Sakura cried into Syaoran's shoulder. "He's in the most secure prison in the country. He won't escape Sakura-don't stress out over a dream; you have so much to look forward to, and it doesn't need to be ruined by a dream." He murmured softly. Sakura smiled into his shoulder, "You're right; I can't lose myself because of a dream-I have people I need to protect and he won't get in my way. Not anymore." She vowed. "You truly are an amazing girl." Syaoran smiled before kissing his wife goodnight and falling back to sleep with her in his arms.
Well, I guess this is the end of Sweet Sacrifice! OR IS IT? I kid, I kid. However, I will be doing a sequel to Caged…I think that's the third or fourth time I've said that. I've had so much fun writing this, though I hate to admit that I could have done better with some of the chapters and certain parts of the story.
Thank you to everyone who encouraged me to write more with your reviews and a big thank you to everyone who favourited (Not a real word I don't think, but you all know what I mean) me and my story, or even just my story! It really helped me to get through it.
The next story I will be working on is Ranger and Outcast, so please look forward to reading it! But first I need to finish But Tonight We Dance. Please continue to read and support me with my writing, I really appreciate it!
