Author's Note: I have this chapter out and it didn't take me a month to do so. In this chapter, I think you get to see a little bit of how Jade really feels about Kendall. She doesn't say exactly how she feels, but you see a different side of her. There's a little bit of drama, but with these two, how can there not be? This is another extremely fluffy chapter, at some points at least. I really like this and I am about to start chapter twelve, so be on the watch for that. It's not extremely long in length, but it's always better than nothing. Remember, don't be afraid to leave a comment or send me a PM. I love hearing what you guys think. Enjoy!

Jade wakes up early to prepare breakfast and everything for her and Kendall. Well, not prepare, but she did go out and get some of his favorite breakfast foods for him. She also picks up his gift that took her forever to get. She figures it's the least she could do since it's his birthday; she'll play nice for the day.

Kendall comes walking into the kitchen just as Jade is finishing putting everything onto the plates.

"What is all this?" Kendall questions, surprised by all the food displayed on the island.

Jade looks up at him. "This is your birthday breakfast."

He smiles, touched, and overall more than surprised. "You actually remembered my birthday? I was thinking that you wouldn't."

"Nope, I remembered." comes her reply as she picks up a plate and passes it to him. "Happy birthday."

"Thank you."

"No problem." Jade responds as she picks up her fork and begins eating, Kendall doing the same. "Anything planned for the night?"

"My mom and Katie are gonna take me out like they usually do. We always do something family oriented."

Jade nods. "That's nice."

"Do you wanna come?"

"Didn't you just say it was a family thing?"

"Yeah, but I want you to come with."

Jade smiles slightly. "Really? Why?"

Kendall wants nothing more than to tell her the real reason why, but he can't do that just yet. Especially not now when Jade's being extra nice. "Because we're friends. I'd actually enjoy your company tonight, Jade."

"Okay. I'll join you three tonight."

"Great, I'm looking forward to it."

"Where are you guys going?"

"I never know. It's part of the tradition."

Jade nods her head understandingly. "How do I know what I should wear?"

"You typically only wear black, so I think black everything will do." he jokes.

"Whatever. I'll figure something out."

"I'm sure you will."

"By the way, I got you something."

Kendall's eyebrows shoot up. "Really?"

"Yep."

"You didn't have to do that."

"Just think of it as a thank you."

"A thank you?" he questions, confused. "A thank you for what?"

"For being you." is all she says as she goes back to eating.

"I hope it's nothing creepy."

"I can assure you that it's not."

Kendall nods and sighs. "I'll take your word for it."

Kendall and Jade go to their classes, Kendall in an extremely good mood just for the simple fact that it's his birthday. Jade actually stays in a good mood herself. She's eager for Kendall to see the present she got him. It's not her thing to give other people presents, but she couldn't pass on this opportunity; and it'll mean Kendall will owe her a lot more.

After class, they both go home seeing as they have the day off from work. They start getting ready to go out with Kendall's mom and Katie around six and Kendall's actually a little nervous. He knows Katie will still continue to ask if he likes Jade and he doesn't know how much longer he can lie to her.

Kendall decides to dress in a blue dress shirt and a pair of dress pants. He sighs as he sits on the couch, waiting for Jade to come out.

"Okay, I'm ready." he hears her voice from behind him. He stands up and turns around and he has to keep his mouth from falling open at the sight before him.

Jade's wearing a tight, but appropriate, blue dress. Her makeup is done differently than usual; her eyes remaining light while the red lipstick stands out beautifully on her face. Her jewelry accessories are gold, matching the gold heels that she's wearing. All in all, Jade looks stunning and Kendall's in complete shock.

"Ready to go?" she asks.

Kendall blinks a few times before responding with, "Yeah. Let's get going."

Dinner goes by smoothly. Katie doesn't pester Kendall too much about Jade and Jade and Jennifer actually have a long conversation much to his surprise. He couldn't ask for a better birthday dinner.

Arriving back at their apartment once again, Jade tells Kendall that she's going to get his gift and tells him to face the television so he can't see it when she returns.

"Are you ready?" she asks when she returns to the room.

"I'm not sure. Should I be?"

"Trust me, you'll love it."

"I don't know if you are the person I should trust."

Jade chuckles. "Believe me, you're really gonna love this."

"Okay. Can I turn around?"

"Yep."

Turning around with a sigh, Kendall's face lights up and his jaw drops at the gift Jade is holding. Jade is holding an actual Les Paul guitar. A guitar that Kendall has wanted for as long as he can remember, but could never afford one. He walks over to Jade, words still failing him at the moment, and runs his fingers over it.

"Do you like it?" Jade asks, already knowing the answer.

"Like is an understatement." Kendall manages to say after a while. "This is a genuine Les Paul?"

"Yeah. It's the real deal."

"How did you get this?"

"Don't worry about that. I know that you really wanted one, so I got it."

Kendall takes the guitar from her and carefully places it on the couch behind him.

"Don't you wanna play it?" Jade asks.

"Yeah, but first I have to do this." he says before he picks Jade up with one arm, spinning around and hugging her before placing her back down.

"Calm down, Knight." Jade laughs.

"I don't even know what to say." he starts. "Thank you so much, Jade. I can't believe you did this."

Jade looks at him and smiles. "It was nothing. Don't even worry about it."

There's a look passed between him and Kendall swears Jade is feeling the need to kiss him like he's feeling the need to kiss her. Before he knows it, he's leaning in and Jade is doing the same. Their lips meet and it's completely different from that first time when Jade was drunk and it was just a quick peck with the taste of alcohol. Their lips slide together easily and Kendall wishes this moment could last a lifetime.

Unfortunately it doesn't and Kendall has to force himself to pull away, even though he doesn't want to. Jade does still have a boyfriend and he knows it won't sit well with him if he lets this continue.

"Sorry." he tells Jade. "I shouldn't have done that."

Jade just shrugs. "It's nothing. We just got caught up in the moment."

Kendall nods his head, slightly hurt by her saying it was nothing. "But still, thank you for the guitar. It's the best gift I've ever gotten."

"You're welcome." Jade responds before turning around and walking into her room.

Kendall sighs and picks up the guitar carrying it in his room and placing it on the bed and starts to unbutton his shirt. He hates himself for having to end the kiss, especially since Jade didn't seem like she was going to and he just keeps telling himself that she did out of pity. It is his birthday. Jade just felt sorry for him because he's single on his birthday. That's the only reason why. Still, he doesn't even believe himself.

"Hey," Jade says walking into the room, carrying the guitar case. "I forgot to give you the case, too."

"Thanks, you can just sit it down somewhere." Kendall tells her, refusing to look at her as he walks over to his closet to hang up his shirt.

Jade complies and sits it on the bed beside the guitar. She stands there, waiting for Kendall to turn around and face her.

He can feel Jade's eyes on him and as much as he wants to tell her to leave, he can't. "Did you need something?" he asks, back still turned, as he pretends to be finding a shirt to put on.

Jade rolls her eyes and walks over to him. "You're mad."

"No, I'm not."

"Yes, you are."

"And what gave you that impression, Jade?" he questions, the words coming out harsher than he intended.

"The way that you're speaking." she points out. "Why are you so pissed?"

"I'm not. I'm just tired, I want to sleep."

"You're lying."

He finally faces her. "Because you just know me so well, right?"

Jade frowns. "Okay, I get that it's your birthday, but that doesn't give you permission to act like a huge dick."

"Then leave."

"What the fuck is your problem?" she yells. "I gave you the best damn present and I've been nothing but nice to you. Why the hell the sudden change in demeanor?"

"Jade. Get. Out."

"This is my apartment, I'll stay if I fucking want to."

"It's my apartment, too." he says, walking over to the door. "And I want you to get the fuck out."

It's take all the strength Jade can muster not to take the guitar and slam it on the ground until it's completely broken. Instead, she decides to leave, but stops once she's in front of Kendall.

"Don't fucking talk to me at all tomorrow. I don't wanna hear your lame ass apology that you're bound to give me." she tells him and walks across the hall to her room, slamming the door.

Kendall slams his as well with more force than needed and takes the guitar and puts it in the case. Setting it on the floor, he groans and flops back on the bed, mad at himself. As sleep comes over him, he tries to get everything off of his mind until the next morning.

Waking up the next morning, Kendall gets ready to go meet Camille for the belated birthday breakfast she wanted to go out to. When he walks out of his room, he hears and sees no sign of Jade. He's not even sure if she's home, that is until he walks outside and sees her car is still parked. He sighs, knowing he has to fix what went wrong last night later.

He drives to the spot where Camille texted him to meet her and parks his car. Getting out, he sees Camille standing outside and walks over to her.

"Morning." he greets.

"Hey," she smiles and gives him a hug. "Good morning and happy belated birthday."

He hugs her back. "Thank you, even though you told me happy birthday yesterday."

"Yeah, but it wasn't in person."

He chuckles and holds the door for her as they walk inside. Once they're seated, they make small talk and order their food before Camille starts the real conversation.

"What's wrong?"

"What?" Kendall asks.

"Kendall, I know you better than you probably know yourself. I can tell something is bugging you. What is it?"

He sighs. "Jade and I argued last night."

"I thought you two were actually friends now; why were you fighting?"

"It was my fault."

"It was?" she asked, shocked my his admission.

"Yeah, we kissed last night and-"

"Wait. You two kissed?"

He nods his head. "Yeah, she got me a Les Paul for my birthday and I guess I got too excited and I hugged her and then after that we kissed."

"I'm still not understanding why you two were fighting."

"I was mad at the fact that she said it was basically nothing and the fact that I can't have her and I took it out on her."

"What did she say?"

"She said don't talk to her today and don't give her one of my lame ass apologies."

Camille rolls her eyes. "What're you gonna do, then?"

"I don't know, but I'll think of something."

"This being in love with her thing is really hard for you."

"I never said I was in love with her. I said I liked her."

Camille smiles. "Damn. I was hoping you wouldn't catch that."

Kendall shakes his head in amusement. "I love her, just not in that way."

"Yet." Camille adds.

He shrugs. "It's possible."

"But seriously, you need to figure out a way to apologize."

"I know, I know. I just don't know how."

"Just talk to her."

"She doesn't want that. I'm pretty sure she's in my room right now cutting the strings on my guitar."

"Kendall," Camille groans. "Why don't you just tell her the real reason why you were acting like that?"

"Because it's not the right time. She's not single."

"She was single when you realized you liked her."

"But now she has someone who she's happy with. At least...I think she's happy with him."

"You're just driving yourself insane."

Kendall moves the salt shaker in front of him and begins to aimlessly play with it. "I'm already insane. I'm crazy about her." he responds, done with the conversation.

Kendall comes walking back into the apartment about an hour later. He sets his keys down on one of the tables and walks into the kitchen where Jade is sitting, eating her breakfast. He sighs and tells himself he should get this over with.

"Good morning." he tells her as he walks over to the refrigerator and grabs a bottle of water.

"Morning." Jade responds which surprises Kendall.

"About last night-"

Jade cuts him off. "It's fine. Let's just leave it in the past."

Kendall stares at her before asking, "Are you alright?"

"I broke up with Daniel."

"Is it because of last night? If it was I really am-"

"It's not, Kendall. It just wasn't working out."

"Oh," he says, trying to keep from smiling. "That's too bad."

"I had a feeling it wasn't going to work out."

"Are you sad?"

Jade shrugs. "I'm not sure how I feel. I'm not sad, but I'm not all that thrilled about it either."

He can hear in her voice that she's a little upset. He walks around the island and stands behind her, wrapping his arms around her neck and lightly placing his chin on the top of her head in the form of a comforting gesture.

He feels Jade relax into him and smiles when she doesn't tell him to move. "How about we go out a little later? Do something interesting."

"Fine by me." she says before smirking, though Kendall can't see it. "I don't wanna stay hear moping and crying like you did."

Kendall chuckles. "Hey, I didn't cry." he says, feigning annoyance.

"Maybe not around me, but you did by yourself. Didn't you?"

"Shut up." is Kendall's response.

Jade laughs. "That's enough of an answer for me. You totally cried."

"So," Kendall begins, changing the subject. "We're going out later, yeah?"

"Yeah, we are." she confirms. "Thanks, Blondie."

"You're welcome, West." he tells her as he unwraps his arms from around her and begins to walk out the kitchen before stopping. "And I really am sorry."

Jade turns around in her chair and offers a soft smile. "I know. You should be."

"A normal person would've said thank you."

"We both know I'm far from normal."

"True, I like you that way."

"I wouldn't care if you didn't."

Kendall rolls his eyes and walks out the kitchen, content with how things turned out. He's thrilled that Jade's single now, but he still doesn't think he can tell her quite yet. Either way, he's happy with the relationship they have. No matter what.
