Elena walked towards him, tormented. I don't care. Would that have been real? Why, would Stefan be so incredibly tender with her in her worst moments and turn his back on her now? Now, that she had returned. And why the hell did she care about it?

"Damon" she leaned in to kiss him. He refused her kiss, for the first time, jealousy steaming of him. "Damon, hey" she gently grabbed his chin and pursed her lips on his. "We were just talking"

He gave her a dashing smile, at the thought of her chasing after him. He started kissing her intensely, letting his tongue slide into hers. But somehow she was far away, tortured by her thoughts. "He was… different" her eyes, wondering. He kept on, kissing her neck. "Just as if" she trailed off, when noticing Damon's look.

"Just as if what, Elena?" his anger surging from the insides.

She looked at him tenderly, with an innocence that made Damon's barely existent heart melt. "Nothing" she smiled fakely, yet he did not perceive this, as she soon was starting the ritual of kisses, each longer that the previous one. Just as if, Elena, couldn't stop repeating the phrase not daring ending the doubtful phrase. She pushed herself away from him. "No, wait, there was something going on" she said carefully "he didn't look at me with such tenderness, his eyes were cold as if-". As if he didn't love her anymore. Deep inside, Elena feared the moment he didn't. And the moment was here. But she refused the idea, for somehow she felt he had betrayed her, breaking his loyalty. His unconditional love towards her. That look that made her feel something, even in the deepest moments of her inhumanity. Incredibly- betrayed. But then again, so had he.

"Car" Caroline turned towards the familiar and loving voice, slowly.

"Tyler" she leaned in to kiss him and allowed herself to sigh harmoniously.

"You left" he party said, party asked.

"Yeah, I… I… Stefan called, felt like a walk to clear my head"

"Okay, you seem umm.. are you okay?" he asked awkwardly

"Yeah, yeah sure I was just, thinking I need to go see El-" Caroline stopped at once, that scent. It was him. She looked away distracted from her boyfriends concerned questions. She instantly saw Klaus, getting out of his vintage car with a letter in hand.

"Good morning, by very cute lovebirds" he gave a sarcastic smile and gazed at Caroline's focused eyes. Tyler looked at Caroline, and for a moment doubted whether she had ever looked at Klaus that way, before.

"Klaus" she forced herself

"What do you want?" Tyler asked arrogantly, stepping in further away from Caroline and closer to him, in a protective manner. She touched his contracted arm ready to be used. Tyler relaxed with the idea of both skins meeting again.

"Not that I'd want to interrupt, "he handed Caroline the letter. She opened it, and invitation. "You, and you I believe (referring to Tyler) are cordially invited to my farewell dinner"

"Farewell?"

"In fact yes, meaning goodbye?" Klaus looked condescendingly at Tyler and then looked away to find Caroline's weary eyes forced not to ask why.

"I will be gone, for some time however I would very much appreciate it if you could come" he talked directly to Caroline. And for an instant he's voice seemed like a whisper, like the whisper he had recited for her that same morning. The whisper that had made her feel more than she had ever felt by the mere imagination of his lips pronouncing the words.
