Forever and Always

She walked into the bar, wearing a short red dress that barely covered her thighs and very high black heels. It was a dress she would never be caught dead in, until today. She slammed the black clutch Serena had lent her on the table and ordered a scotch. It reminded her of him. It was the last drink she paid for, but not the last one she had. Her behavior surprised her, she'd never done this before, but now that Dan was in her life, she would do anything and everything to escape their dull routine. He was always on her mind, she couldn't help it. He was, after all, the love of her life. He had made her shed so many tears over the years, screwed her over countless times, yet she still felt empty without him. Once she was truly drunk, the kind of drunk you can't even hold a glass, she went to the only place she could go to, his house.

Chuck hadn't had a wakeup call in a while. They all seemed meaningless compared to her. He had heard her voice though, even addressed to him, but it always seemed so polite, so cordial it didn't even sound like the true her. It was her voice that made him feel butterflies in his stomach, but now that she was lost to him, it just made him dwell all the things he did wrong to her over the years. Even though he had apologized, he still regretted it every single day. He wondered if that would ever go away. He drowned his sorrows with scotch. Besides Monkey, he was alone.

She went into the hotel suite she knew so well. The place she had spent millions of times in with him. The memories would always be there.

"Chuck" she yelled

"Oh, Chuck."

He heard her voice. The voice that haunted his dreams, the one that was always on his mind, the one he most longed to hear. And there she was, in her drunken stupor, calling for him. She giggled and almost stumbled to the ground but he rushed to her side and caught her just in time. The smell of alcohol and Chanel No. 5 immediately filled his nostrils.

"Blair, have you been drinking?" he asked as he helped her get to the couch in the living room.

"Well, these very very nice guys at the bar bought me some drinks and well I just couldn't refuse." She mumbled

She stroked his jaw and leaned in to kiss him. He almost did, but he wasn't that person anymore, she wasn't his girlfriend.

"Where`s Dan?" he whispered

"Who?" she asked, confused

"Your boyfriend" it pained him to say those words out loud

"Oh. That Dan. Screw him, I want you, only you" she said as she pulled him to her

He couldn't help but smile, but also be filled with sorrow he couldn't have her.

"I'm taking you home, Blair"

She climbed into the familiar back of the limo and was overwhelmed by the memories of 4 years ago.

"Let's relive Victrola. Like were 16 again" she said to him

He smiled, "it's wrong, Blair. You've got Dan now"

They rode the rest of the way in absolute silence.

She was passed out so he carried her to her room. He set her down carefully in her bed and covered her with her duvet. He kissed her forehead and as he was leaving, she woke up, just for a second, to say "I love you, Chuck." He waited until she was asleep again.

"I love you, too, Blair. I always have and I always will. No matter what."
