Hey guys! Bet you thought I'd never update this! I'm sorry been so busy it's my senior year. Anyway catching fire was freaking amazing! I couldn't believe how good it was it everything was pretty much by the book I loved it! Josh Hutcherson was looking super hot. I will marry him someday. Okay so I'm going to try to update this more often and finish this because I hate starting stories and not finishing them. Don't forget to review! I really need some suggestions for these games! Thanks and enjoy!

Chapter 12: Starting off with a bang.

Unlike the previous games I'd been in, when we stepped out of our places there was no screaming, just the whoosh of people running and the clashing of weapons. I don't take the time to stand and watch I run toward the forest as fast I can.

"She's getting away! Cato get her!"

That voice was none other than Clove's. That's when I remembered Peeta. I turned around as fast as I could. Peeta was nowhere to be found. Johanna was on the ground with Enobaria on top of her. This was a true blood bath. I thought I'd witnessed two before, but it was nothing like this. No one was trying to run, no one was trying to hide, they were trying to kill each other.

"Johanna!" I scream.

Suddenly someone grabs me by the back of the arm; before I can swing at them I hear their voice.

"Katniss! Come on, let's run! Clove's coming!" Peeta screams.

That's when I finally notice Clove sprinting towards us, knife in the air. We both take off leaving the blood bath behind. I feel a pain in my left shoulder, but just ignore it and focus on running. This is the first time I've ran since being pregnant, I have gotten a noticeable amount slower. Peeta keeps a hold of my arm and practically drags me the entire way. I ran as long as I could before having to come to a stop. I hold my stomach and try to catch my breath.

"Are you okay?" Peeta asks frantically.

I don't even have enough breath to answer him.

"Katniss look at me."

"I'm alright." I say breathlessly.

"Turn around." He commands.

I turn around and feel another sharp pain.

"Look."

I turn around to see a bloody dagger in Peeta's hand. I touch the back of my shoulder feel the warm blood on my fingertips.

"We need to find shelter. We can't be out in the open like this." I say.

I look at all the trees and spot the tallest one I can find. I don't know if my legs will carry all this extra weight up the tree.

"Let's just keep moving."

"I got us a backpack. It was at the edge of the cornucopia." Peeta says.

The contents of the backpack contained a canteen, rope, a tarp, and a large black sleeping bag, and a large hunting knife. We continue walking trying to find a water source. I know that's what Haymitch would be telling us to do right now. Peeta kept the hunting knife at his side, I kept the dagger. I hoped that soon I would find a bow and arrows. The forest was eerily quiet; it wasn't hard for us to find the water source by ear. We approach as quietly as possible. Even though I am pregnant, I am still quieter than Peeta is. We cling behind a tree and scan the stream. There's no one there, the only thing we hear is the rush of the stream. We emerge from the forest and fill our canteen first. The water is so clear I can see all the way down to the bottom. A few fish swim past my feet. Peeta and I stab as many as we can and take them with us.

"Let me clean your wound before we go." Peeta says.

I give in and let him splash the cool water over my cut. He kisses the wound before covering it back up with my jacket. Suddenly all the fish are swimming our direction. It had to be every single fish in the stream. They were running from something, which meant we should be running too. That's when I see the creature. It looked like the biggest black snake I'd ever seen. As it gets closer I realize it's not a snake, but a giant leech. It hisses at us exposing its four dagger like teeth. We try to run as fast as we can but the water is working against us. Its head emerges out of the water and strikes Peeta. I throw my knife into its side, but it isn't enough to stop it from latching onto Peeta's leg. The creature's mouth alone takes up Peeta's whole thigh, he screams in pain. I grab his hunting knife and start stabbing the creatures head as fast as I can. Black blood sprays out of the creatures wound and onto my jacket. The giant leech screeches in pain and releases Peeta's leg. We take off running but our pace is even slower than before, Peeta can barely run and I can tell every step he takes is causing him excoriating pain. The blood is so thick and smells absolutely terrible I can't help but starting to heave. We can't stay out in the open like this; we'd be so easy to pick off right now.

"Good thing I found us shelter, you guys look rough."

I can't stop heaving long enough to turn around but I know the voice is Johanna's. Peeta comes up next to me and rubs my back.

"I don't think I've ever been so happy to see you Johanna." Peeta says.

Johanna looks me up and down.

"That's disgusting. Is that blood?"

I answer her when I finally regain my composure. I wipe the water off my face that had seeped out of my eyes. I've never been sickened like this, even by the blood of a human.

"There's a giant leach like creature by the river. It attacked Peeta I stabbed it and its blood got on me." I manage to choke out.

"It smells evil." Johanna replies.

We follow Johanna back to a cave that she found. Johanna was so proud she found it not far from our water source. When I tell her we won't be able to use it because of the creature she just laughs. She proudly showed us the two backpacks she was able to get and an ax.

"Did anyone grab a bow?" I ask.

"Glimmer has it." She replies.

I laugh and Peeta gives me a strange look.

"You guys better get to kissing if you want your leg to feel better." She says to Peeta.

"What happened with you and Enobaria?" Peeta asks.

Johanna pulls the neckline of her shirt down to reveal deep rough looking scrapes.

"She tried to sink her teeth into me. I cut her with the ax in the leg. She ran before I could kill her, but wherever she is now I know she'll be staying there. She won't be able to walk to save her life, which is why I'm going to hunt her down." She says joyfully.

"No, we stick together remember what Haymitch said." I reply.

"You don't know who she's allied herself with; it would be a dumb move on your part." Peeta adds.

Johanna sits back down and starts to make a fire.

"Who asked you guys anyway?" She grumbles.

It's dark by the time we cook up our fish. We pass around my canteen by the time were done its empty again. Suddenly the capitols anthem plays, we all rush out to the mouth of the cave. Foxface, Marvel, Cashmere, and Thresh were the faces that lit up the sky.

"The tributes from your games will be killed first. They don't compare to any of us victors." Johanna states.

Rue was still alive somehow. I thought she would have allied herself with Thresh but now he's dead. Peeta puts his hand on my shoulder and gives me the "everything will be alright" look.

"How's your leg?" I ask him.

"I'll be fine."

I examine his leg the four spots where the leeches teeth went in his skin were starting to scab. That was a good thing it means less of a chance for infection.

"We should take watches during the night. I'll take the first watch." I say.

"Sounds good to me." Johanna says as she curls up in her sleeping bag.

Peeta strokes my face.

"I can take the first watch."

I zip the sleeping bag around him.

"No, you need sleep so you can heal. I'm fine." I say.

He reluctantly rolls over. I listen to the pattern of Peeta and Johanna's breathing for a few hours. I feel my eyes start to droop. That's when I hear footsteps outside the cave. I spring up I tap Peeta awake first. He looks at me with confusion.

"Someone's outside the cave." I whisper.

His eyes widen and he kicks Johanna in the side.

"What the hell!" she exclaims.

"Someone's outside the cave!" I whisper frantically.

Johanna grabs her ax and creeps closer to the mouth of the cave.

"I know you all are in there." A voice says from outside the cave.

I know this voice, and I know it well.

"It's just me. Finnick."
