Chapter Four
Accidental Bump in the Park
Sorry for the huge delay. I have been busy with my classes I am taking and also the babysitting I have been doing. My term is almost over, so there should be more updates coming up now. I just have a couple things to say. I know my writing might not be all that great and I am trying my best. But, if don't like what I am writing then please don't read it at all. For everyone else thank you for the nice reviews and I hope you continue to read what I write and feedback is always welcome.
Olivia's Apartment
I heard a knock on the door while getting out my black leather jacket from the closet in my bedroom. "I'm coming give me a second." I knew for a fact that it was Nick after all he is picking me up to head to the Stabler's house. I don't even know why I decided to come in the first place. I just hope this doesn't blow up in my face.
The minute I opened my door Nick walks in. He glances at the dark blue knee length dress I decided to wear. "I see you dress up for the night." He says.
"Might as well. After all we are you are going to be introduce the minute we walk in the Stabler's home." I say as I glance at what he is wearing and what is supposed to be on his ringer but I decided not to even ask about the missing jewelry. I knew things were getting tough with him and his wife just didn't know it was that bad.
"Well, let's head out." I say as I grab my keys, badge and gun. Not that I am going to need the badge and gun at the party but just in case I get called in. After all Nick and I are on call.
On the way there Nick kept looking at me while I drove the way to the party. I knew he was trying to get some kind of vibe off me. Whether I wanted to go to the dinner or not. He also probably knew I would not be going if it were me just heading out to the Stabler's. For the past few months I have started to open up to Nick about my life after work but we are never going to be best friends.
"Nick we're here. How bout' you leave your gun and badge in the glove compartment. It's not like we are going to need them to go in there with." I say to him while he starts to unbuckle his seatbelt.
"Okay." Nick says to me. I don't know if he is trying to be cautious of what to say to me or what but I hope this does not continue throughout the night.
After we walk to the front door. Nick takes the lead and knocks on the door. Maureen opens it and looks at him then at me. "Hey, dinner is almost ready. Why don't the two of you come in and take off your jackets? Mom our guest are here." Maureen yells out while the both of us put the jackets in the closet.
"Liv, are we the only people that are the guest or is there more?" I look right at Nick and shrug my shoulders giving him my answer.
As we walk through the kitchen I felt an arm grab me. I look at Kathy. "Nick why don't you go through those doors while I talk to Kathy for a few."
"Alright Liv, I'll make sure to save you a seat next to me." I nod at him while he starts to go in the dinning room.
"Thank you. I know you did not want to come here but I really do appreciate the gesture of coming here tonight. I just hope when you go in that room; you and your partner will stay." I look at Kathy who looks completely guilty and I have no reason to believe she should. After all I wanted to see the children again and talk to them and maybe I can see them more often.
"Kathy, its fine. I wanted to be here." Even though part of it is a lie. "I just want to know your children again after all they were a part of my life at one point. It would be nice to know them again." She nods at me and continues to get the lasagna ready for the table. I take it as a cue to leave her be and head in the other room with the others.
"Hey, Liv. Didn't realize you would be coming over tonight." The minute I hear that voice I knew whose it was and I realize just maybe I made the mistake of coming over to have dinner.
