Chapter 3: Merry Christmas!
The sleigh rolled through the air, calm once again. It was just Tobi and Deidara. They were quite the sight in their Christmas gear, sitting in a sleigh of clay and pulled by clay reindeer, one with a bright red nose.
Tobi leaned over the edge of the sleigh and peered down below. Deidara wanted to push him for getting them in this mess.
"It's incredible, Senpai," Tobi gasped. "Everything is so small from up here."
"I guess it would be, un," Deidara mused.
He leant back and let the clay do the work. They had a long list to fulfil, and admittedly, he was tired. He peered over to see what Tobi was fussing about. It was just a miniature of the world. In some ways, Deidara felt like he owned it all, just to see it below. He smiled to himself. He could imagine himself as King of the World.
They arrived at the first house. It was small with a chimney.
"Go on, Tobi, down the chimney," Deidara said.
"That's your job, Senpai," Tobi said cleverly. "After all, you're Santa Claus for the night, and Santa goes down the chimneys."
"Yes, but I'm not actually Santa," Deidara rolled his eyes. "So, get down that chimney."
"En contraire, Senpai," Tobi said. "Santa knows everything you do, and he'll come after you if you don't go down that chimney. Don't forget to eat the mince pies and carrots!"
Deidara sighed, and stepped onto the roof of the house. He checked his list, and saw that this family had been nice.
"At least get the present," Deidara said.
Tobi checked the list and rummaged through the pile. He handed some presents to Deidara. Deidara turned to the chimney and then looked down. He knew that Santa probably made his elves go down the chimney and pick the present. The fat man wouldn't fit down something as narrow as this.
Deidara climbed down and fell. He stumbled out of the chimney and coughed soot from his lungs. He dusted himself off and placed the presents beside the tree. He turned and spied the mince pies and carrot. Swallowing, he took a bite from each, cringing away from the carrot. He climbed back up and glared at Tobi.
That routine followed for the rest of the houses, until they reached a particular few names he recognised. Naruto received a present, as did Sakura, Sai, Kakashi, Yamato, Shikamaru, Choji, Ino, Asuma, Hinata, Kiba, Shino, Kurenai, Rock Lee, Tenten, Neji, Gai, Konohamaru, Ebisu, Tsunade and finally, Shizune.
Orochimaru and Kabuto both received coal, and Orochimaru a moustache from Deidara.
Sasuke and Suigetsu also received coal, but Karin and Jugo were given colourful presents.
Gaara, Kankuro and Temari also gained presents.
The Tsuchikage got a present as well, although Deidara considered not delivering that one, as it was undeserved. Kurotsuchi and Akatsuchi also got presents Deidara thought were undeserved.
The Raikage got a present, and so did Killer B, as well as Darui, Samui, Karui, Omoi and Mabui.
The Mizukage also gained a present, as did Chojuro and Ao.
Finally, they arrived at the Akatsuki hideout. This was the part that Deidara would enjoy, since Tobi actually had to do something and there wasn't a chimney either.
Deidara lifted the sack of presents through the Akatsuki hideout. He stopped at the tree and pulled out a present. Tobi joined him. Konan and Pein both received presents, and so did Sasori and Zetsu. Hidan did, but Kakuzu got coal. Kisame and Itachi both got presents, and then Tobi and Deidara did as well.
"We did well, Tobi, my man," he said.
"I know," Tobi agreed.
"Should we go for one more ride?" Deidara asked.
"I think we should," Tobi nodded and the two of them walked back outside the Akatsuki hideout, with their presents.
Tobi grabbed his mask from the reindeer's nose and briefly dipped inside the hideout, and then returned, wearing an orange mask and the balaclava as a hat. He hopped into the sleigh with Deidara and waited eagerly as Deidara started the sleigh and lifted into the air. Once again, they were in the air. The reason Deidara had wanted to ride the sleigh one more time was because he enjoyed that feeling of being King.
He liked looking down at the world in admiration of his work, because he and Tobi had both accomplished their goal in one night. He leant back once more, once again enjoying the feeling of pride that welled up inside him.
"Let's open our presents, Senpai!" Tobi chirped.
Tobi opened his, from Santa, and gasped in delight. It was personalised snow globe, with Tobi and Deidara playing in the snow. Deidara didn't know whether to think it was sweet or creepy. He opened his. It was premium quality clay, handmade by elves; Deidara could just tell. Inside, was a special note attached, from Santa.
Dear Deidara,
Thank you for fulfilling the Christmas Deed. I knew you would. You and Tobi also taught me something. Tobi and his youthful spirit reminded me of the kindness I used to show to my elves, and just seeing you sitting at the sleigh reminded me of my own young days, and it makes me want to be like that again. I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Santa
"Don't you have something to say to them," Tobi was looking down at the world.
"Hmm?" Deidara looked over at him. "What do you mean, un?"
"Well, after every Christmas movie, Santa's supposed to say something to the world," Tobi said.
Deidara thought for a moment, wondering what he should say to the world. He knew what Santa said, but he wasn't Santa and he wanted to add his own twist to the finish.
"Alright, well, I guess I have something," Deidara pondered.
"Go on, then," Tobi prompted. "Spread your message to the world."
Deidara smiled to himself. He leant over the sleigh and looked down at the world below. He felt even more of a King now that he had something to tell his loyal subjects. Tobi sat eagerly beside him, awaiting for him to give his ending speech.
Deidara looked back down.
"Merry Christmas, everyone!" Deidara yelled to the world. "And remember, art is an explosion!"
