Hey everyone! I am so so so sorry that I haven't updated this in while. I was lazy, and when I started working on it again, I left it somewhere so that was two days without working on it. Anyways, here it is.
Disclaimer: I do not own Black Butler.
Katie's POV
I had slipped out of my room early in the morning; I was now staring out one of plentiful, hugemongous window in the library. Outside this particular window was a colorful garden. I was thinking about my mother again. That was her garden after all, another thing I couldn't bare to get rid. I guess I'm still going through the stages of grief.
Suddenly, I heard the door open and close from across the room, and I turned my head to see the Phantomhive butler, Sebastian Michaelis, enter and walk towards me.
"Good morning, Miss Chandler," he said as he stopped walking to stand beside me.
"And good morning to you, too, Sebastian," I responded politely.
"It's a beautiful garden you have here."
"Thank you. It was my mother's. She always made sure that there were flowers somewhere in the manor," I explained. I could almost see her out there, too, turning slightly to smile at me with a bright face. Before I register what I saw, my mother changed into Josephene which was odd since they look nothing alike.
Josephene waved at us and crouched down to continue picking weeds. I looked up at Sebastian, and he looked back with a creepy smile. I can't be the only one that hates that smile.
Sebastian's POV
I was surprised to find the Chandler head so early in the morning, especially in her light blue nightgown. Her hair looked totally different than the day before. For one thing, she didn't have her hair in pigtails; instead, it was wavy and cascading down to her lower back.
"Do you mind if I ask a few questions? After all, we will need to trust each other, and how can we trust you if we know nothing about you," I said, smirking a bit.
"Of course. Go ahead," Katie responded, and so the interrogation began.
"Why do you live here alone? You know, with Miss Josephene."
"My mother died when I was five from an unknown illness," the blue-haired girl. "A few weeks later, my father left me one day without any explanation. I didn't have a very good relationship with him so I never tried to get back in touch with him."
"I see. That's why you are now the CEO if the Chain Co. So, how long have you been the CEO?" I asked.
"Three years. I started a few weeks after my father left," Katie said.
"Why is there only one servant working here?"
"My mother never liked to be fussed over, and I guess that something I inherited her. One maid is enough for me," she informed. "Well, I have to get ready. Read anything you'd like. I recommend anything with a golden heart on the spine. They are very interesting." She then turned toward the door and walked toward it.
Taking her advice, I wander over to the nearest bookshelf. I ran my gloved fingers over the books until I found a book with a little heart in golden ink above the title. The title was A Thin Line Between Love and Hate. I took it out carefully and read the back. It was about a human falling in love with a demon until she finds out what he is.
I skimmed through it, and suddenly, something fell to the ground. I picked up the papers to see they were pictures. There was one with a young Katie hugging Josephene with a huge smile, but Josephene had no emotions in this picture. Without her usual smile, she looked more like a robot than she did know. I stored the picture in my front pocket. My investagation was over...For now.
Like I said, I am so sorry that I didn't update sooner, and sorry it was so short. Anyway, read & review.
