An opportunity finally showed itself a month later when Megatron said they were going to battle, Ironhide was secretly glad about that as that will be his chance to defect to the Autobots.
"Decepticons, transform and rise up!" the Warlord called.
The Decepticons transformed down into their alt modes and drove out of the base, unfortunately Ironhide didn't see a small group head towards the direction of his daughters' flat.
At the Autobot base things were peaceful for the moment, but then the alarms went off "Optimus! We got 'Cons in tha city!" Jazz called.
Optimus sighed quietly, he hated having to fight his old friend, and Starscream felt just the same. He put those feelings aside for now and looked at his comrades "Autobots! Transform and roll out!" he ordered
"We're rolling!" Jazz replied and they all transformed down into their alt modes, they drove out of the base.
When they arrived the Decepticons were already there and they transformed into their bipedal modes, it was like a face off.
Ironhide looked at each of the Autobots, he obviously recognized Starscream and Optimus, but his optics stopped on the florescent lime green mech. All he knew was that he was one of the best Medics on Cybertron, he had a good build and icy blue optics, his Spark fluttered and it confused him.
Ratchet looked at each Decepticon and his optics stopped on the black mech beside Megatron, all he knew was that he was one of the best fighters ever known, second-in-command of the Decepticons and could inflict a lot of damage on the enemy, but he was a handsome mech with a strong build, scars and soft red optics. His Spark fluttered and it confused him too.
"Decepticons! Destroy the Autobots!" Megatron snarled.
"Autobots attack!" Optimus ordered.
The two factions ran forwards and they clashed together, it surprised Ratchet that the mech was purposely not hurting him, why would a Decepticon not hurt him on purpose?
At Rebecca's and Jade's flat, the two sisters were sat on the front lawn relaxing when they saw five Decepticons approaching "Uh oh, we should call 'Hide" Rebecca said quietly.
"No, it'll be ok" Jade assured and got up, she glowed purple and flew up, she unleashed an energy force on them throwing them back "sis run!"
"Not without you!" the twenty year old called back.
One of the Decepticons regained their balance and slashed his claws getting Jade's rib cage.
Jade snarled and held her side where blood and energon started to leak out.
At the battle Ironhide hissed and put a hand on his midsection where the rib cage would be on a human or magic "Jadey" he whispered.
"What's wrong?" Ratchet asked.
"It's my daughter, she's hurt, I have to get to her now" Ironhide replied in Cybertronian.
The Medic wanted to help him get to his daughter "Let me help you" he replied.
'Hide looked at him "Why do you want to help me?" he asked in Cybertronian.
"Because you didn't hurt me, and you need help to get to your daughter" Ratchet replied and smiled slightly.
Ironhide nodded and smiled slightly "Ok, thank you, follow me" he replied in Cybertronian.
The Medic nodded and they sneaked behind a building, when the coast was clear they ran away from the battle.
"My name is Ratchet by the way" Ratchet said with a smile.
"Mine is Ironhide" 'Hide replied and smiled a little, then he remembered something "wait, you were the one who got mummified at your house party wasn't it?"
The Medic blushed "Yeah...Olympus and someone else did it" he replied.
"Guilty as charged" Ironhide replied with a smirk.
Ratchet chuckled "So that's who it was" he said.
'Hide chuckled and nodded as they continued their run.
"Hey trash heap, pick on someone your own size!" Rebecca snarled.
The Decepticon growled and made a grab for her, but Jade got in front and was grabbed.
"Jadey!" the twenty year old exclaimed and looked for something to hit the Decepticon with, she saw a rock that was part of her garden display and ran over to it, she picked it up and threw it, it got the Decepticon right in the optic.
The 'Con screamed and lost his grip on Jade who breathed a sigh of relief, but it was short lived as she was slashed in the abdomen "F**K!" she cursed before she was whacked hard and she flew across the lawn, she landed on the road and didn't move.
Ironhide and Ratchet arrived on the scene and hid behind another flat "Ratchet get my daughters to safety, the one in the road is Jade and the older girl is Rebecca, both are my daughters" 'Hide whispered "I will distract the 'Cons whilst you get them"
"Are you sure?" the Medic whispered back.
"Trust me with this, I need to do this to ensure my daughters' safeties" Ironhide whispered "now wait for the right moment, as soon as I've got them all distracted you make your move"
Ratchet nodded, he admired 'Hide's bravery.
Ironhide nodded and rubbed his hands together, he ran out of their hiding place towards the five Decepticons "Hey! Pick on someone your own size!" he snarled.
The Decepticons snarled and they started to fight.
The Medic waited for the right moment, then ran towards Jade as she had injuries and was bleeding, he gently picked her up in his hand.
The sixteen year old looked up at him weakly and frowned.
"Don't worry, I'm an Autobot, I'm getting you and your sister to safety" Ratchet assured and next went over to Rebecca.
The twenty year old looked at him.
"C'mon, I'm taking you and your sister to safety, I'm an Autobot" the Medic said.
Rebecca nodded and got into his hand, she and her sister watched their father battle the five Decepticons.
When Ironhide had ripped the head off the last Decepticon he looked over at Ratchet and his daughters "Ratchet, take the girls to your base, Jade needs treatment" he said.
"What about you?" the Medic asked.
"There's one more thing I need to do" 'Hide replied.
Ratchet nodded and transformed down into his alt mode, the two sisters ended up in his seat and he drove quickly to base.
Ironhide watched them go before taking a deep breath and running back to the battle, for a mech his size he was a very fast runner, as he got closer he saw his best friend in Megatron's clutches about to be killed "Oh hell no" he sneered and brought out his cannon, he shot at his now ex-leader.
Megatron stumbled and lost his grip on Starscream, he turned on Ironhide and snarled "What do you think you're doing?! I am your leader!" he demanded.
"Not anymore you're not, I'm leaving the Decepticons! You lost my loyalty to you when you hurt my daughter!" 'Hide snarled.
The Warlord growled "I knew you were a traitor, just like Starscream! Decepticons, retreat!" he snarled before he left with the other Decepticons.
Optimus noticed his old friend hadn't gone with them, had he quit? He walked towards him.
Ironhide heard the familiar footsteps of his old friend and turned, he gave him a nod "I want to defect to the Autobots Prime, my loyalties to Megatron have long gone, and I have two daughters to be there for" he said.
The Prime smiled, he had waited for the day his old friend would join the Autobots "Ironhide, welcome to the Autobots" he replied and held out his hand.
'Hide shook his hand and nodded "Thanks Prime" he replied before giving his friend a hearty slap on the arm and smiled "Primus it's great to see you again Optimus"
Optimus laughed a little "You as well 'Hide" he replied and the two old friends hugged "you have no idea how glad I am that you've defected"
"It took some time, but now I'm here to serve you Optimus" Ironhide replied with a smile and they ended their hug.
The Prime smiled and nodded.
'Hide smiled and turned to his best friend "I know I didn't defect when you did 'Star, my loyalties still lay with Megatron despite his big ego" he said.
Starscream chuckled a little "You lasted a lot longer than I did and I respect you for that, in all seriousness though, you're still my best friend and I'm glad you're an Autobot now" he replied.
Ironhide smiled and the two hugged.
Optimus smiled "Autobots! Let's head back to base" he said.
"Hey 'Star" 'Hide said as the others transformed down into their alt modes.
"Yeah 'Hide?" the Seeker asked, now a Lockhead Martin F22 Raptor.
Ironhide smirked "You owe me a ride" he replied.
"Well get your big aft on then" Starscream replied with a smirk.
Ironhide smirked and climbed on the part just behind the cockpit, Cybertronian metal was stronger so the Seeker could hold his weight.
"Ready?" Starscream asked with a smile.
"Ready when you are" 'Hide replied with a smirk and held on.
"Ok, here we go!" the Seeker replied with a smile and activated his jet thrusters.
Optimus smiled as he watched Starscream take to the skies and fly towards the base, he was happy Ironhide had joined the Autobots.
