Jade's POV

The next morning I was relaxing on the couch, I can get used to this, I dug my claws into the couch as I stretched then jumped off. I trotted over to a scratching post and put my claws into it, hmm it doesn't feel as good as the carpet, so I started clawing that instead.

Daddy came in and saw me clawing the carpet, he smiled and walked over.

I meowed and swished my tail.

Daddy smiled and knelt down, he gently stroked my head making me purr and roll onto my back "Aw Jadey" he whispered softly "you're adorable, you know that?"

I lifted my paws over my face as a faint blush appeared on my face.

Daddy chuckled softly and gently rubbed my stomach.

I purred and closed my eyes in content, I fancied going on a little adventure, I know cats do that kind of thing. So why don't I do it as well? I rolled onto my front and got up "I'm gonna go have a wonder round daddy" I said through the bond with a smile.

"Alright Jadey, be careful though" Daddy replied through the bond.

I licked his hand in reassurance before trotting out and starting my adventure, I jumped over fences and walked along paths, I made sure to stick to them as I didn't want to get hurt. I don't think luck was on my side today, because I heard the sound of screeching tires and a car rammed right into me, I felt my spine brake and I went flying. I landed a good ten feet away and weakly looked at the car that sped away, typical a hit and run kind of driver, I hope daddy finds me...

Ironhide's POV

I swear I've not felt this much pain in a while, it was all down my back, Jadey was obviously hurt and I had to find her! So I ran out the base to look for her.

After a minute of searching I saw something in the side of the road, at a closer look I saw that it was Jadey! Oh Primus please tell me she's alive, I ran over to her and knelt down, she was alive but looked to be in terrible pain. What were those places you take your pets to if they're ill or injured? Oh yeah! The vets! I gently picked Jadey up and held her close as I looked around, luckily there was one just over the road and I ran across the road to it.

When I walked in I looked around for someone to help, I went up to the reception "Please can you help?" I asked "my dau-cat was hit by a car" I know I don't usually talk in front of strangers, but this was an emergency, plus I could lose Jadey.

"Of course, let me call someone in" the receptionist replied and got on the phone.

I gently stroked Jadey's head as I waited for someone to come, I heard a weak purr come from her.

A minute later a vet came in "What happened?" he asked as he gestured for me to follow him to the emergency room.

"She was hit by a car" I replied "I don't know who the driver was"

"Must have been a hit and run" the vet replied as we walked into the emergency room "put the cat on the table, what's its name?"

"Jade" I replied and gently placed Jadey on the operating table.

The vet nodded and started to gently check Jadey over.

I was stroking Jadey's head to keep her calm, then I heard the vet sigh and looked at him "What?" I asked.

The vet looked at me solemnly, oh no...don't tell me he can't save her "Jade...has a broken spine" he replied quietly.

A broken spine?! She's paralyzed?! "She's paralyzed?" I asked quietly.

The vet nodded sadly "There's nothing I can do to fix her spine, she will be in terrible pain" he replied softly.

I looked at Jadey who looked up at me weakly, I gently scratched behind her ear and looked at the vet "What do you suggest?" I asked quietly.

"There's two options, I can either give you strong painkillers for Jade, but she will be miserable and will only be able to meow and purr" the vet replied softly "and the other...is to have her put to sleep"

I froze when he said the second option, put her to sleep? Put my daughter to sleep?!
