He was gone.

Inuyasha wasn't there standing with her. Could it be that Naraku was just toying with her, saying that he was alive.

Fists clenched tightly and tears stained her cheeks,"Damn you!" she cursed out loud, mainly to no one. The only people who stood by her was Miroku and Sango who held her shoulders.

"Kagome," she heard the brunette say to her, but she didn't want to listen.

Pain surged on her side, the wound that was inflicted by Naraku was open and blood gushed out. "Miroku, we need to get her to the hospital," Kagome heard Sango say, but her vision was cloudy and her knees buckled.

"You have to hang on Kagome," hearing Miroku say to her, and she felt light like a feather as they helped her on her feet.

Black spots appeared in her vision, this was it. In the end, she'll see Inuyasha after all, in death perhaps.

"Kagome!"

"Kagome," she felt a hand squeeze hers and light penetrated her sight and she squinted at the sudden brightness.

Turning her head to the side, she saw movements of blue and people shouting at each other. "Mama," she hoarsely said, the grip on her hand tightened. "I'm here Kagome!" her mothers words were heard.

She had a mask over her nose and mouth, helping her breath and she noticed that she was in a hospital.

Her eyes gazed over to a passing room and she could've fainted, even if it were the loss of blood that was causing her to go mad. There, in the room, even for a glimpse - she saw her hanyō.

"Inu…Inuyasha," her voice wasn't completely back. She lifted her hand and it limply fell back.

"Quickly, we need to get her-" all the voices faded and she fainted once more. Inuyasha, are you really alive? Or am I just hallucinating it all.

Mrs. Higurashi clasped her hands together and tears trailed down her cheeks,"I hope she will be alright."

Sango and Miroku exchanged glances, the wound Kagome had didn't look good at all. It could cause her to …. Sango shook her head,"Kagome is stronger than that Mrs. Higurashi, she'll make it."

Miroku nodded in agreement,"Yes she will. In the end, she had defeated Naraku."

Mrs. Higurashi's eyes widened,"You mean that he gave her that wound, is it finally over?" She stared at the two and they smiled softly at her. "I'll take that as a yes. Oh dear, is - "

"Ai!"

The three turned to see Izayoi breathing heavily with Rin by her side. "Sango called me, please tell me Kagome is alright." Mrs. Higurashi shook her head,"I am not so sure myself."

"Oh my," Izayoi placed a hand over her mouth. "All we must do is wait now," Rin said, looking at the door where the others had seen Kagome being rushed in.

Eyelids squinted tightly and then opened. A white room and the sounds of gasps. "She's awake."

"Mama?"

"I'm here," Mrs. Higurashi said, rushing to her daughter's side.

It has been three days since she was rushed into the hospital and everyone was relieved to see that she recovered quickly over time, but the wound was wrapped up in bandages and they were cautious of it.

"Kagome, dear it is good to see you again," Izayoi said, going over to the girl's left side and smiled at her.

"I-Izayoi?" Kagome said quizzically, she blinked several times and her eyes widened,"Is Inuyasha."

Izayoi had a crestfallen face, but that soon disappeared,"We asked the doctor if it was alright for you to walk. So we'll show you were he is."

Kagome blinked a few times once more and gave the older woman a nod. The two mother's helped her on her feet and led her to another room.

"Go on in," Izayoi told her, turning the knob a little and motioned Kagome to enter the room. Kagome licked her lips and nervously stepped in.

"What do you think they'll do," Miroku said, he handed a cup of coffee to Sango who glared at him.

"Seriously, is that all you think about. Get your head out of the gutter and think. They'll probably talk and - and," Sango began to slightly blush and turned her head away.

Miroku smiled knowingly,"You see, even you can think of what-" he was hit over the head, harshly and a nurse who sat by their table gasp. "Is he alright?" she had asked.

"Oh he's just fine alright," Sango seethed and the nurse smiled at her, then turned to leave to finish her lunch.

"Sango, Miroku…Mi-Miroku?" Izayoi almost stepped over the boy and arched her brow in questioning. Sango shook her head,"Please don't ask."

"I see…" Izayoi trailed on and then smiled,"She's with him now. I bet she'll be happy and him as well."

"Even in death can't separate them," Miroku said, raising a pointer finger in the air to state his point. Izayoi nodded,"Yes, indeed."

Kagome stepped in slowly, the door creaking a little and she held her breath at the sight before her.

He was breathing, she could hear his slow and even breaths from her place in the room and she smiled, walking a little closer to where her hanyō was.

She moved a chair to the side of the bed and took one of his hands and ran her thumb over his knuckles. I'm happy you are alive, Inuyasha.

"K-Kagome?"

Her eyes moved to meet warm golden orbs and she smiled, tears threatened to fall down her cheeks. "Inuyasha," she whispered, no longer holding them in.

"Why are you crying, keh…stupid girl," Inuyasha said, he blinked several times,"Where the hell am i?"

"You always had a way with words," she muttered and then she began to shake. Taken back, Inuyasha stuttered,"W-Why are you crying," unsure of how to deal with a crying girl.

"Inuyasha you baka. Baka. Baka. Baka!" she cried, taking a fist of his hospital shirt and bit her lip nervously.

"Oi, why the hell are you calling me an idiot woman!" he made it to sound as if he shouted at her, but it came out so hoarsely, he didn't recognize his own voice.

"You gave me that stupid herbal tea so I could forget about you. Why would you do that to me?" she said, tears rolled down her cheeks.

Lifting his hand, Inuyasha wiped her tears away with his thumb,"I did it to protect you."

"I don't need to be protected, even if Naraku was here-"

"He's dead?"

Kagome nodded,"Yes, he's gone. For good."

Inuyasha 'keh-ed' and looked up at the ceiling,"Damn, where the hell have I been?"

"A ghost," she muttered, putting a hand on his cheek,"You don't remember?" she asked.

The utter confused look on his face said it all and she smiled,"Well, you were a hot headed ghost at that. But you never left my side, although…you did give me the tea again."

"Woman, forget about the damn tea. I need to make sure of something," Inuyasha told her, pulling her closer to him. Kagome looked into his eyes,"What?"

"That I ain't dreaming," he stopped her from speaking any farther, stopping her with a tender kiss. He cupped her cheek and she closed her eyes.

The two didn't notice the door open and people walk in the room. Miroku smirked,"Well you two certainly didn't waste anytime."

Inuyasha was the one to pull back and he glared at the monk. "You fu-"

Sango whacked Miroku over the head,"You ruined their moment!" She turned to the other and then glanced over her shoulder,"Carry on!" The taijiya shooed everyone out, earning groans from the mother's.

Kagome slightly blushed in embarrassment and she looked at her hanyō,"So, what now."

Inuyasha smirked and brushed a lock from her face,"Now, I'm gonna sleep, but I'll be able to because I know you'll be here with me." Kagome smiled,"So not you. Is it the new moon out there?"

"Keh, be quiet or I'll shut you up," he muttered, She raised a brow,"How do you intend to do that?" He tilted her head up and smirked, then kissed her.

Miroku smirked and backed away from the door, turning around to see Sango glaring at him. "Dear Sango, you know me," he placed a hand on his chest.

She rolled her eyes,"Apparently I do too much."
