The haunting image of his mask filled Alexia's mind, the absence of emotion in his eyes made her shudder with terror. Who was he, why did he kill those people? Endless questions clouded her head as she was jerked forward by a sudden stop.
"We're here" Desmond said pulling up the parking brake. "Get out of the car" he said sternly, not even looking back at her.
She slowly got out of the car, still shaking from the events prior, she didn't know where she was or where they were going. All she could do is follow this man, barely older than her. She couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking, seeing his friends killed without a second thought.
"Hey, hurry up, we're probably being followed, we have to move fast." Desmond called out.
"Right... Sorry..." Alexia said speeding up her pace.
Desmond led Alexia down a series of stairs, a seemingly endless staircase heading down into the bowels of the Earth. Soon, after a while of walking, they came upon a solid concrete wall, no openings, cracks, or crevices.
"Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted" Desmond whispered placing his left hand dead center of the wall. Nothing happened at first, they stood there in silence for a while, until a voice sounded from out of nowhere.
"Ah, welcome back Desmond, we're all waiting for you", an English accent came from the wall. All of a sudden the wall flooded with lights, light blue lines shot out from the sides, shooting to the middle of the wall where Desmond's hand was. The lines formed a symbol, one that Alexia had not seen before. The symbol had a small slit in it, barely bigger than a knife, Desmond shot his left hand right at the slit and twisted his wrist to the left, the sounds of cogs and gears could be heard from behind the door. The door erupted with the sounds of hissing and gears grinding as the stone wall slid to the right, revealing a spacious white room, filled with weaponry and technology. Desmond walked in and Alexia followed, staying close to her savior.
"Ah, so this is the fabled 'Alexia Graves', a pleasure to meet you miss." A rather tidy and well kept man approached the two, holding out his hand in anticipation of a handshake.
"Now's not the time Shaun, we've got to warn the others... Skave is back, and he's not holding back this time" Desmond said knocking Shauns hand out of the way. "We have to put the cell on high alert, no one goes out and no one gets in, we need to lay low for a while".
"Right, we'll talk later, but right now, you need to get to the lower levels" Shaun said ushering them to an elevator.
"There's more to this place?! I swear we just walked down 50 fucking flights of stairs!" Alexia exclaimed making her way to the elevator.
"Hey, there's a lot you don't know, just keep quiet and listen" Desmond said, his face stolid as he pushed her into the elevator.
"Ow, what the fuck, you don't have to push me you asshole, I get it, you saved my life, and I thank you for that. But you don't have to be so fucking rude about this." Alexia said, staring at Desmond's unemotional face. "I get that your teammates were just kil-"
"You don't know anything about this!" Desmond shouted, silencing Alexia immediately, he sounded like a drill instructor would shouting orders at a new recruit. "You have no fucking clue what the fuck I've seen over the past 3 fucking years!" He yelled, his face as unemotional as it can be. "You have no fucking right to bitch to me about this shit, alright?! So shut the fuck up and fucking listen to the situation." He settled down as the elevator doors opened.
There weren't a lot of people in the room, more than 10, most of them dressed in different colored jackets, all of them carrying a different type of weapon. A lot of them had a handgun at their sides, and a SMG hanging from a sling across their backs.
"Ah... So this is who you were talking about, Alexia, right?" A dark haired woman stood up behind a plethora of computer screens. "Hi, the name's Rebecca, Rebecca Crane, glad to have you on our side" She said shaking Alexia's hand.
"Hi..." Alexia said, still shook up from Desmond's yelling.
"Rebecca, we need to get her in. Now." Desmond said, ushering Alexia towards a strange looking seat.
"Right, but what about the others? What should I tell them?" Rebecca asked, not even looking up from the computer screens.
"Tell them to get to a cell immediately, tell them it's a code blue" He said, removing his hood and guiding Alexia to the chair.
"On it." Rebecca replied rapidly typing on one of her many keyboards, all situated right next to one another.
"Alright, look, you have to trust us, ok?" Desmond said, placing his hand on Alexia's shoulder. "We just need you to sit down in this chair, and relax alright?"
"What is it... Why do these people know me?" Alexia asked noticeably concerned.
"It's called an Animus, and with it we can recreate moments in history, we can go back through your bloodline, your heritage, and relive the lives of your ancestors. You, are a very important piece of a very important puzzle, alright, your ancestor has something we need to find, and we need you to relive her life and find out where it is" Desmond said leaning in real close, never breaking eye contact with Alexia. "You determine the fate of this world". He said, his voice almost shaking.
"Alright... So I just have to... Sit in this? That's it? No cables plugging into my brain?" Alexia asked jokingly.
"No none of that" Rebecca chuckled, "Alright the Animus is powered up, all you have to do now is lean back and relax, the machine will do all the work for you until we can pinpoint exactly where we want to send you" She said patting Alexias shoulder. "Don't worry kid, you'll be fine".
With that said, Alexia sat in the chair and laid back trying to get as comfortable as possible.
"Alright, sending you in, in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1..." Rebecca said, right before hitting the enter key on one of her keyboards. All of a sudden everything turned white, Alexia felt blinded by the sudden light. She couldn't tell if her eyes were open or not, it was the strangest feeling.
(Well, that's chapter 2... I hope it's not that bad... I know it's been a while since I've updated this story and I apologize, I just haven't had any creativity in me haha... :P Oh well, I hope it's ok, the next Chapter should be up within the week.)
