The she-cat was barely managing to stay ahead of Tanglestar. Tanglestar's paws were raw, but she could feel her chance coming. The tabby was getting weaker and weaker, and soon she would give in, and Tanglestar would have the stone.

As Tanglestar followed the she-cat, the she-cat stumbled. Summoning the last of her energy, Tanglestar leapt forward.

She landed on the cat, who gave way, her legs folding underneath her.

Tanglestar didn't want to bother to claw the cat, but she did swipe away the glowing stone the cat had dropped.

Pulling herself off the tabby, Tanglestar snatched the stone and sprinted away. With a backwards glance over her shoulder, she hissed, "don't you dare try and follow me." With that, she disappeared into the night, leaving the she-cat lying weakly on the ground.

Once Tanglestar was sure she had gone far enough, she collapsed on the rock, the icy coldness piercing through her fur. Feeling her rough paws, Tanglestar tried licking them to soothe them. It didn't help, so the leader sprawled out in the open, ready to close her eyes and sleep. A Greenleaf breeze rustling her fur, Silverpelt high above, what else could she ask for? Maybe a better place to sleep would be nice, but given the circumstances, it worked. As Tanglestar drifted off to sleep, she felt a dazed surge of satisfaction. After all, she had found the stone, and she was one step closer to discovering what the stones held the power to do.
