CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE: Not going anywhere.

Lacey quickly slid the phone across the floor seconds before the door opened. Daryl noticed it beside the door. He looked at her suspiciously. "How'd you get this?"

"I didn't. It's been there the whole time and I can't exactly reach it." She lied, jiggling the handcuff that still bound her to the bed.

"You're a terrible liar."

"You would know because you've been stalking me for just over a year." She rolled her eyes sarcastically. "How am I meant to reach the phone from over here genius?"

He checked his phone. She knew he wouldn't find anything because she deleted the call. "I still don't believe you." He walked over to her pulling her hair head up by her hair, making her look at him. "How the fuck did you get my phone?!"

"I didn't! I didn't even notice it until five minutes after you left!"

She tried to scratch his hand away with her free hand. He glared at her and landed a kick to her stomach. She cried out in pain. He did it again giving her a sick sadistic smirk. As much as she didn't want him to see her cry and beg, she couldn't stop the tears from falling and her soft pleas from escaping her lips.

"Please don't do this. Please stop. Not my baby. Please just please."

He let her hair go and stood back from her pulling out a gun and aimed it at her head. "Why should I? I should kill you right now. I never told Jackson whether you'd be alive or not when I trade you for the money."

Lacey could feel wetness between her legs. She was too afraid to look down know what it could be. If looks could kill, Daryl would be dead from the one she was sending him right now. "If I wasn't handcuffed to this bed you'd be the one that would be dead."

He laughed crouching down beside, pushing the barrel of the gun right against her head. "You think you're so tough, but if you look at it, you're always the one getting rescued. What do they call women like you? A damsel in distress? That must make you feel weak."

"It makes me feel like I have people that care about me unlike you, everyone that ever gave a shit about you is dead. Your lover, brother, parents, is there anyone else?"

He hit her face with the gun. She spat out the blood as it filled her mouth and started pouring from her nose. Lacey noticed movement behind Daryl who was too blinded by anger to notice the door slowly open. She let out a small sigh of relief seeing her two favorite men come up behind Daryl.

She watched as Jax held his gun against Daryl's head. "Drop the gun."

Daryl smirked. "Or what?"

"Nothing, I'm gonna kill you anyway." Jax pistol whipped the back of of Daryl's head as hard as he could, making Daryl stumble forward barely missing Lacey. He rushed over to Lacey as Chibs moved forward to pull Daryl up from where he landed, driving his fist into the psychopaths. Lacey cried out in pain as Jax begun to move her. He saw the handcuffs holding her there. He looked at Chibs. "Check his pocket for a key."

Chibs nodded patting Daryl down. He found the key in Daryl's pants pocket and tossed it to Jax. Jax undid the cuff that went around Lacey's wrist as Opie and Juice rushed into the room.

"Ambulance is on its way." Juice told him shocked by what he had walked in on.

"Get her outside so the paramedics don't have to come in here." He told them as helped Lacey stand up. Lacey could feel the adrenalin leave her body now she knew she didn't have to fight so much.

"Jax," she said barely above a whisper. She leaned against him for support.

"Yeah baby."

"I love you." She started to feel dizzy, her legs became wobbly. If Jax wasn't holding her up she would've fallen back down.

"I love you too." He kissed the top of her head and let Opie take her just as fell unconscious once again.

Opie and Juice took her out of the room leaving Jax and Chibs with a half conscious Daryl. "I know I should make your death slow and painful but you don't even deserve anymore time wasted on you."

He pulled his large knife out and held it against Daryl's throat. "This way will be quick but not too quick and it will be painful."

He ran the blade against the mans neck and barely grazing the skin before stabbing the knife into his neck where one of the main arteries are. He wiped the blood off his knife onto Daryl's shirt as Daryl struggled, choking on his own blood.

Jax stood up and walked out of the room with Chibs following closely behind. "You okay?"

"I am now."

They got outside to see Clay, Opie and Tig were still there standing by their bikes. "Was there anyone else here?" Jax asked Clay.

"Yeah but he's been taken care of. What about Daryl?"

"Should be no longer with us. If he is it won't take much longer."

Clay nodded. "We'll clean up here, you get to the hospital."

"Okay," Jax nodded getting on his motorcycle. He put his helmet on and made his way to the hospital.

Jax sat down next to the bed Lacey laid unconscious in. The doctor that performed Lacey's surgery had explained all Lacey's injuries, the bruising and swelling on her face and torso, a broken rib, her skull has a small fracture but she had no swelling on the brain, she had a few cuts to her face and around her wrist where she was handcuffed. She'd spent two hours in surgery mainly to fix the internal bleeding she had. She didn't look like his Lacey. She looked weak and broken.

His eyes moved to her stomach. The doctor had confirmed what everyone was dreading. Lacey had lost the baby. He didn't know what to think, say or do. He just knew he had to be here when Lacey woke up.

He leaned forward resting his elbows on his knees, his chin on his closed fists. He looked at her watching her chest rise and fall as her battered and bruised body took slow, steady breaths.

He didn't regret or show signs of remorse for what he did to Daryl. He would've if it wasn't Lacey that was hurt and his baby that was lost.
He held Lacey's hand, lacing his fingers through hers. He sat back watching her until he heard the door open and close. He looked up to see Chibs walking closer to the bed.

"How's she doing?"

"Psychically she'll be fine."

"I'm sorry about the baby."

Jax sighed. "So am I."

"I have a few errands to run. Is there anything you need or want?"

He shook his head. "No, I'm good for now."

"Alright, call me if you do need something."

Jax nodded and watched as Chibs left the room. He stood up and moved closer to the bed, leaning down placing a gentle kiss to her head afraid of hurting her more than she already was. "I'm just going to get me a coffee. I'll be right back." He kissed her head again before walking out and down to the small cafeteria.

He got his coffee and went straight back to the room. He sat back down, placing the cup of coffee on the stand between the chair and the wall. He focused on a poster of the wall as he started thinking about how much closer he came to losing her this time. He was glad she took that moment of opportunity to call him. He didn't know how he managed to get Daryl's phone from him but whatever she did, it worked.

A small groan coming from the bed got his attention. He looked at Lacey to see her eyes slowly flutter open. He quickly stood up standing next to the bed. He smiled when his eyes met hers. She returned it with a small smile of her own. "I really need to stop getting hurt." Her voice was raspy. "I'll have hospital bills coming out of my ears soon."

Jax couldn't help letting out a small chuckle as he pressed the buzzer for a nurse. "Trust you to make some sort of joke out of it."

"There's no dwelling on the past right?" she asked as she started to cough. Jax got her a cup of water and handed it to her. She quickly gulped it down to ease the dryness in her throat. "How long was I out for.

"Around six - seven hours." He answered as a nurse walked in.

"Good to see you're still with us Miss Rodes."

She gave the nurse a small smile feeling the pain start to set in. She was due for another round of pain medication. "I'm not going anywhere, I'm hard to get rid of. And please call me Lacey."

"Well, I'm Caroline. I'm your nurse for the next twelve hours."

"Twelve hours is a long shift." she winced as she tried to move to get comfortable.

"I'm pulling a double." Caroline helped her get into a more comfortable position with Jax's help. Lacey was really beginning to feel the pain. Her head was starting to throb, she had sharp pains in her side and she was tender where the bruises were. Her mouth was still slightly dry. "How does that feel?"

"Better but the pain's starting to set in."

Caroline moved to the end of the bed and picked up the chart, looking at it. "You're due for another lot of pain killers. I'll go get them and let your doctor know you're awake."

"Thanks." Lacey said giving her another small smile. Caroline walked back out of the room leaving the couple alone. Lacey looked back up at Jax noticing he'd been quiet since the nurse walked in. He looked like his mind was somewhere else. "Hey, what's wrong?"

Jax snapped out of his trance like state and looked at her. "Nothing."

"Liar."

"We lost the kid." He said trying not to show any kind of emotion, wanting to be strong for her. He couldn't stop his eyes from glazing over.

Her eyes also glazed over and tears threatened to fall. She looked like she was about to say something when the doctor walked in with nurse Caroline and the pain killers. She took the pain killers and the doctor quickly but thoroughly checked her over making sure everything was okay and going to heal properly. Jax stayed by her the whole time holding her hand.

The doctor informed her of her injuries and the miscarriage and what could occur after one. She heard none of it as she switched herself off, not wanting to hear what she already knew.

"Do you have any questions?" she heard the doctor finally ask. She shook her head no. "If you think of anything I'm sure Caroline can answer it for you."

"Thanks Doc." Jax spoke up. The doctor gave him a slight nod before leaving the room with Caroline. He turned his attention back to Lacey. "Are you okay?"

She looked at their hands linked together as her tears started to fall. "I tried to cover my stomach. I begged him to stop. I tried but he wouldn't. I couldn't save our baby. I should have tried harder. I should -"

"Don't start this, okay? He was a psychopath, there was no stopping him and he got what he deserved in the end. Don't start blaming yourself. He killed our kid and you tried your hardest to protect him or her." He leaned forward wiping the tears from her eyes before kissing the top of her head.

"I love you, Jackson."

"I love you too, Lace. Now get some sleep, those pain killers should be starting to work." He said grabbing the spare blanket off the chair and placed it over the one Lacey was using so she'd feel warmer.

"Please don't leave me." She mumbled as her eyes close and she drifted off to sleep.

Jax gave her another kiss. "I'm not going anywhere."
