Chapter Eight Part two
~Jackson's
Cori's friends were boring to put it nicely. They talked about school and something about computers. Cori was completely absorbed in the conversation while I was regretting staying in the first place. I ate another piece of my ribs as they continued on. McCall kept looking at me but he and Allison were in their own little world. It was really pathetic how he thought he had a chance with her in the first place.
"Jackson?" Cori asked and I looked at her a little confused.
"What?" She grabbed my hand under the table.
"You okay?" I frowned.
"Why wouldn't I be?" I looked down at our hands for a brief moment and she pulled away.
"You just seem a little out of it. We are talking about the yearbook now. Your getting an entire page." I grinned.
"I already knew that. I wouldn't expect anything less than a page." she rolled her eyes at me.
"Whatever." I frowned. She was treating me semi normal again and I didn't want her to get too upset with me.
"I'm sorry, okay?" I whispered into her ear. I looked down at her neck, wanting nothing more than to kiss it and nibble in the places I knew would make her moan. She was so beautiful and I looked away, trying to be on my best behavior was hard around her.
"Just because you say sorry doesn't mean I'm just going to believe it. You have to actually show your sorry." she didn't look at me as she continued talking to her friends and I felt a wave of irritation overtake me and I got up from the table. I walked out the front door and leaned against the wall.
"Jackson!" Cori called after me. "What are you doing? Why did you leave?" I rolled my eyes at her and started to walk away. She grabbed my arm and I turned to face her.
"What?" I snapped and she took a step back.
"What is wrong with you tonight? Your just being rude and.. a jerk. Your not acting like yourself." She looked genuinely concerned and I felt my tightened jaw loosen.
"I'm fine. I'm just gonna head home, I'll see you tomorrow." She sighed.
"I don't know what's going on but I wish you would tell me. I want everything to go back to normal and if you don't trust me it won't." I shook my head.
"Why is it so hard to believe that I'm not interested in hanging out with your friends. This isn't fun for me. I don't want to be here right now so just go back inside and tell them I threw up or something. I don't think me being here is going to change anything." I turned to leave and started walking away from the restaurant.
"I don't want you to go." I turned to see she hadn't moved from her spot. "Jackson, I'm trying. I'm trying really hard to make everything work but there is just so much going on. I can't fix everything in five minutes or ten but if you just stay tonight I'll go home with you and we can have one of our sleepovers and talk all night just like we've always done. I really don't want to lose my best friend." I walked over to her. I wanted to kiss her but instead I leaned down and hugged her. I knew it would be better this way until I could convince her that she wanted to be more.
We went back inside together and I put on a smile. The conversation went from their geeky stuff to lacrosse to food. I didn't learn anything about them I liked so I just conversed with Cori the majority of the night. When dinner was over Corinne and I walked outside with her friends.
"Bye!" she said to a black guy and his blonde friend with messy hair. I knew her from the many times I'd seen her have a seizure. They headed off to the parking lot together.
"Can you give me a ride home?" asked a guy named Matt. He was weird and did yearbook with Cori.
"Sure thing." Corinne told him with a smile and I groaned inwardly.
Allison and Scott said bye and Scott gave me a look but I ignored him, not wanting to cause a problem for Cori's sake. They left together and since Nathan didn't show up it was just me, Cori and Matt.
"I'll meet you at my car?" Cori said to Matt and he nodded before walking away. She turned to me and smiled.
"What?" I asked as we walked over to my Porsche.
"Thank you for staying. It was better having you there." she gave my hand a light squeeze as we reached my car.
"I'm just ready for you to pay me back by spending the night. I'll get everything ready for when you come over." I had thoughts cross my mind about Corinne that wouldn't have been appropriate so I tried to hide my smile.
"I'm excited. I'm taking Matt home then picking up my clothes and I'll be over ASAP." She gave me a hug and I wrapped my arms around her waste, pulling her close. I didn't want to let her go but when she started to pull away I let her. "I'll text you when I'm on my way, OK?"
"OK. Hurry up!" I called after her as she walked to her car. She smiled back at me and acted like she was walking in slow motion before going back to a normal pace.
~Corinne's POV~
I dropped off Matt after getting his number and then headed home to get a change of clothes. I knew I probably had some at Jackson's house already but I still needed to check in with Nana. I parked my car then headed inside. I was greeted by Charlie and pet him before walking into the kitchen where I could hear Nana cooking.
"Hi, Nana." I told her giving her a peck on the cheek. I took a seat in one of the stools.
"Hello, Cori. How was the game?" she asked smiling.
"It was good. We won the game of course." I told her as I leaned down and pet Charlie. "Is Nate home?"
She nodded. "He's up in his room. Before you go though, I just want you to know that we are a family and I don't make any decisions without considering it's affect on you and Nathan first. When I asked you to stay away from the Argents it was for the good of this family not just because I wanted to be a mean granny. You know that I love you right?"
I nodded. "I love you too Nana." I gave her a small smile before heading upstairs.
I didn't bother to knock as I walked into Nathan's room. He was laying on his bed looking at the ceiling.
"Having fun?" I asked sarcastically as I lay next to him.
"Are you kidding? This is the most entertaining thing I've done all day." He answered turning his head to face me.
"I bet. You would've had fun if you'd come out with us after the game. Even Jackson came." He raised an eyebrow at me.
"Seriously? He went out with your friends?" I nodded.
"He did and you didn't. In fact, You didn't answer your phone all night. What's been up with you? It's like your avoiding me or something. What's going on Nate?" I propped myself up on my elbow and looked at him intently, searching his eyes for something, anything to tell me what was wrong.
My search came up empty as he sat up on his bed and looked away from me. "I just have a lot on my mind. I'm just trying to figure some things out."
I put my hand on his shoulder. "Did you ever think that I could help you figure those things out?"
"No, I need to figure them out on my own." He stood up and ran his fingers through his hair.
"I just want to be there for you, Nate. You don't have to push me away. You've been acting weird ever since Derek came back. Have you been talking to him or something?"
His eyes shot up to meet mine. "Why would you think that? How about instead of asking me all these questions, you ask your buddy Stiles. Him and Scott are always acting suspicious at school. It's like their hiding something."
I rolled my eyes. "What they do is their business. If it really mattered Stiles would tell me. We are best friends so don't accuse him of anything when he keeps me in the loop more than you do."
"Is that what you think?" He snapped. I furrowed my brow then stood up from him bed.
"What is your problem, Nathan? Are my friends not good enough for you anymore? They haven't done anything wrong so don't start accusing them of anything. And don't think I didn't notice that you changed the subject."
"Whatever, Cori. This is stupid. Just get out of my room." he huffed.
"Fine. I thought we were going back to normal but I guess whatever the secret is that you've been keeping means more to you than our relationship does." I turned to leave the room. "I'm staying at Jackson's tonight so don't wait up for me in the morning."
"What?" He grabbed my arm before I could walk out the door and turned me to face him before quickly letting go. "Why the hell are you staying at Jackson's?" He questioned.
"He's my best friend. I stay at his house all the time so don't act like it bothers you now. At least I cared enough to tell you where I'll be."
"Stay away from him. He's my best friend too and you two need space apart." I laughed through my nose.
"Who the hell are you to tell me to stay away from my best friend? You don't control me so whether you like it or not that's where I'm going tonight. Deal with it." He started talking again but I ignored him and kept going to my room.
~Jackson's POV~
I waited in my room for Corinne to arrive. It was getting late and I was growing impatient. It was the first time had slept over in a few weeks. I had popcorn already made and her favorite candy laid out on my bed. The movie was in the DVD player and a CD was in the CD player in case she wanted to talk or something first. I rose from my bed and looked out the window to see her car pull up. I smiled then left my room, heading downstairs to meet her.
"You looked comfortable." I told her ad she walked up to my door. She had on soft pajama pants with Eeyore on them and a white v-neck shirt with black flip-flops.
"I am. You like?" She said spinning around in front of me before giving me a hug.
"Of course." I grabbed her overnight bag and two plastic bags with soda and chips in them.
"I picked up your favorite candy on the way here along with chips and soda." She said as we walked up stairs to my room.
"You really do care." I said jokingly as I closed my door. We sat on my bed and opened the chips and soda. She put a CD in the player and I watched as she danced to the song. She pretended to hold a microphone and sang along with the song, actually sounding better than the singer on the track.
An hour later we were laying on my bed, music turned down, talking about lacrosse and movies. We hadn't started watching a movie yet but we didn't need to. We could talk for hours.
"This is nice." I told her as we shared a candy bar. She nodded in agreement, her mouth full of chocolate.
"It is. I miss this. I wish everyone could see this side of you Jackson, they would love it." I shook my head.
"This side of me is reserved only for you." We both smiled at each other for a moment and our eyes connected.
I looked at her lips then back up to her eyes. We were sitting pretty close together already and I wanted to lean in and kiss her but we were just getting back to some form of normal so I decided to wait just a little longer before I made a move. The doorbell rang downstairs and I let out a groan.
"Who's that?" Corinne asked me looking confused.
"No one." I lied quickly but she jumped up to answer the door laughing as I chased after her. "Corinne don't!" I told her before she reached the door.
"Why not? You telling me not to answer just makes me want to answer it even more." I shook my head at her and she walked over to me. "I'm gonna open the door now."
She turned to open it and before I could stop her, Lydia walked in, arms crossed and a scowl on her face.
"What the hell is this?" she snapped at me. I turned the look at Corinne who just rolled her eyes.
"What are you doing here?" Lydia was beginning to get on my nerves.
"I came to see my boyfriend since we didn't hangout after the game. What the hell if she doing here?" She didn't even look at Cori when she spoke.
"She's spending the night. Do you have a problem with that?" I asked her not really caring if she did.
"Of course! She is a boyfriend stealing whore! Why is she even here? You know we had plans if you won the game tonight." I groaned in annoyance.
"What plans, Lydia?" I knew she was going to tell me anyway so I might as well act like I wanted to know.
"We were going to have sex." She said looking a little hurt that I had forgotten. "I told you we could have sex tonight like we do every other night. How could you forget?" I looked over to Corinne who looked a little hurt and I wanted Lydia gone right then and there.
"I'm busy tonight. You should leave." She glared at me.
"Why? You want to try to have sex with this slut instead?" She gestured to Corinne.
"Fuck you Lydia." Snapped Corinne. "I don't want to sleep with him. Unlike you I'm not a sex crazed teenage slut whose obsessed with making people feel like they are worthless. Your a vindictive bitch and I don't know what Jackson sees in you but I'm not staying to find out." she grabbed her keys off the table and started for the door.
"Wait!" I called after her causing Lydia to roll her eyes.
"Leave me alone, Jackson." She said walking to her car.
"Why? Because of her? Just ignore her." I stood in the way of her car door.
"Move." she demanded.
"No. You are supposed to be staying the night but your leaving because of Lydia."
She huffed. "I'm leaving because I do have feelings for you but I don't want to go past being best friends. Even still, it bothers me that you were going to have sex with her and that she calls me a slut and a whore but you just stand there and let her. You let her say those things to me even though I'm still a virgin so they can't be true. I can't stay here and sleep in the same bed as you knowing she was going to be there on top of you. So move the hell out of my way."
"You can't get everything you want Corinne. You say you love me but won't date me then try to control what I do with my girlfriend. You can't have it both ways Corinne so make your decision right now. Do you want to be with me or not?"
~3rd Person POV~
Jackson ad Corinne didn't realize that they were arguing at a considerably loud volume. Across the street Isaac was awake and could hear them. He checked to make sure his father was still asleep before looking out his window at the best friends as they argued.
Isaac had heard most of the conversation and waiting for Corinne to decide. Part of him was saying he should just go to sleep and not be nosy but he had to know what she chose. In his mind she was choosing between him and Jackson and he feared he would lose.
"Do you want to be with me or not?" Jackson repeated the question louder this time.
Corinne looked into his eyes and wanted to cry. This wasn't fair. She didn't want to lose her best friend but he was giving her a ultimatum and she knew that she would be losing him that night.
She took a step closer to him and saw Lydia standing the doorway.
"I do love you." she whispered. She leaned close to him and kissed him, running her fingers through the hair on the back of his head as a tear came down her cheek. Jackson placed his hands on her waist a few moments before she pulled away. He smiled at her but she stepped away from him and his smiled vanished.
"I love you but I can't be with you. I'm sorry Jackson." Corinne turned and walked down the street, trying to get away for a moment until she ould go back to her car.
Isaac watched from the window as Jackson cursed at her. Saying Lydia was right about her. Saying hateful things that she didn't deserve to hear. He couldn't tell when he saw the kiss what her answer was but now he could. She had kissed him goodbye. He pulled on a t-shirt before sneaking out of his bedroom window. He went down the street after her, not realizing that Jackson had seen him.
She was walking faster the angrier she got with him. Jackson was yelling hateful things because he was angry and she didn't deserve that. It was just like when he tried to take her virginity and she had wanted to wait. Corinne hadn't noticed when Isaac came up beside her and she was startled when he touched her shoulder.
"Jesus!" she exclaimed when she felt him touch her. "You scared me, Isaac." she began wiping the tears off her face quickly. "What are you doing out here? It's almost one in the morning."
Isaac looked at her in her blue eyes and took her hand in his. "I saw everything. You guys were a little loud, so I could hear everything too."
Corinne looked embarrassed as she tried to hold back more tears. "I can explain everything, Isaac."
"You don't have to." Isaac offered a friendly smile but she shook her head.
"I want to. I want you to know how I feel." Isaac nodded in understanding.
"I love Jackson. I wish I didn't love him in that way but I do. I don't want to date him because I like someone else. I care about someone in else in that way more than I do for him. I care about you." Before she could continue Isaac put his finger over her mouth and looked at her.
"I know we haven't gotten to know each other that well because of me being a little shy about talking to you but right now, I want to know you. I want to know everything that interests you and makes you smile because you have a beautiful smile. I want to be there when you need a hug because I feel like you fit perfectly in my arms, Cori. I want to be with you and I've always been to afraid to say it to you. I want to be there to protect you and to listen to you. I just," Isaac paused for a moment. "I just want to love you the way you deserve to be loved."
Corinne let one last tear roll down her cheek before she took a step closer to Isaac. She rested her hands on his cheeks and leaned closer to him until their lips were touching. Isaac put his hands on her waist and pulled her close before putting his hands on her cheeks. This kiss was different from all the others. He didn't let his hands roam and neither did she. They moved their hands until their fingers were intertwined and they continued to kiss each other for a few more moments in a perfect bliss.
As they slowly separated, They smiled shyly at each other just listening to the quiet night air around them.
Almost suddenly, Isaac was tackled to the ground and Jackson was on top of him. Lydia was close behind as he began to land numerous blows to Isaac's already bruised face.
"Stop!" Corinne yelled as she tried to get Jackson off of Isaac. Lydia pulled her back and pushed her on the ground.
"Don't you dare try to stop the inevitable. This is what you get for ruining my relationship! Watch him kill Isaac! Watch!" Corinne quickly stood and punched Lydia in the face catching her off guard before she tried to help Isaac again.
Jackson was straddling Isaac and continuing to punch him when Corinne kicked him in the face and he fell to the ground. Jackson gripped him face for a moment when he reliazed it was bleeding. Lydia ran to his aid but he pushed her away when he saw Corinne helping Isaac.
"You bitch!" He grabbed her arm and threw her to the ground, accidentally hitting her face on the concrete. He considered hitting her but decided it would hurt her more if it was Isaac he hurt.
Isaac saw Jackson thinking of hitting Corinne and lunged at him, throwing him to the ground next to a, angry Lydia. Isaac landed a few blows before he was pulled off. Lydia had tried to attack Corinne in anger but before she could hit her she was pulled off by someone else.
The four of them looked to see who had come. Corinne was surprised to see Derek and Nathan standing over them.
"Derek?" Corinne stood a little too quickly and almost fell back to the ground but was caught by Nathan before she blacked out.
"Get them to the hospital." Derek instructed as he helped Isaac to his feet. "I'll deal with these too." Nathan glared at Jackson wanted to handle him on his own but instead he listened to Derek's instructions knowing he would have another chance.
Nathan watched from a distance as Derek threatened Jackson. He put Corinne in the back seat of her car and Isaac sat in the passenger seat.
"What were you guys doing here?" Isaac asked looking back at Corinne.
"All that matters right now is that my sister is okay." Nathan said coldly. He was anrgy that she had been put in that position and he was angry that she hadn't listened to him and now she was unconscious in the backseat while he tried to hurry to the hospital.
"I need to go home." Isaac said quietly. "I can't go to the hospital. Let me out so I can go home." Nathan shook his head and gripped the steering wheel tightly as he pulled into the hospital parking lot.
"I can't. Jackson's parents called the police. His mom saw you guys fighting and reported it. They are going to send you to the hospital anyway and call your dad. It's better to go now so it will be over faster."
Isaac's jaw tightened as he thought about what his father would do to him when he found he left his room. It would only get worse when he found out why and it made him cringe. Nathan parked and pulled Corinne out of the back seat. He carried her in his arms as Isaac followed him into the hospital doors.
~(An Hour Later)~
~Corinne's POV~
I woke up in a hospital bed and was filled with panic. I started trying to take off the tubes I was connected to, not sure why they were there in the first place. Nurse McCall came into my room and smiled at me.
"It's okay, those tubes are just medicine. You hit your head really hard and lost consciousness. The medicine is so you won't get any infections. You do have concussion though. Your grandmother is here and she'll be in to see you shortly." She finished fixing my tubes and smiled at me. "The boys are here to see you."
When she moved to the side I saw Scott and Stiles standing in the doorway. Stiles rushed over and gave me a hug.
"Are you okay?" I nodded to him and smiled.
"I'm fine. I just hit my head. Is Isaac okay?" he nodded.
"He's fine. His fractured his nose ad has a busted lip and a bunch of bruises. He's worried about you too. What the hell happened? Jackson's mom called the cops and they called my dad to come since we know you and you had to go the hospital and apparently Derek Hale was there.." he trailed off and I knew he wanted to know about Derek.
"Jackson was just being a jerk and there was a fight. He beat up Isaac and Lydia egged him on because she's just.. she's just bleh. Anyway, Derek broke it up and someone else but I blacked out before I saw who. Then I woke up here. I don't know why Derek was there. Maybe ask Isaac?" Stiles nodded to Scott who then left the room as Stiles pulled up a chair to sit next to me.
"I'm sorry for the questions about Derek and for getting him arrested. But he's out because they didn't have evidence if that makes you feel a little better." He offered.
"I guess. I wish I could see him though. I only saw him for a moment. Where is Nathan? Did he come?" Stiles bit his lip then explained.
"He carried you in and wrote a statement but left it with Scott's mom and left. They haven't seen him since but his statement said he and Derek stopped the fight and Lydia tried to fight you but he stopped her. You hit your head before they got there but he says Jackson definitely caused it."
I looked down at my hands. "He grabbed me and pulled me to the ground. I turned my head and," I reached up to touch the side of my head and felt a bandage along the side of my face. "Guess I got scratched by the concrete. This night has gone great. Just trying to go back to normal and I end up in the hospital." Stiles looked at me sympathetically. I looked past him and saw Isaac standing in the doorway.
"Can I talk to her for a minute or two?" he asked looking right at me. Stiles kissed my forehead then left the room, closing the door behind him.
"Hey," I moved over in my bed so Isaac could sit next to me.
"I'm sorry this happened to you." he said softly, taking a seat on the bed. "I should've protected you-" I cut him off with my finger.
"Don't blame yourself. You didn't do anything wrong. Jackson did this to me, not you." he looked at me with sad eyes.
"I still should've been able to stop this but I couldn't. I'm-" I stopped him again, but this time with my mouth.
I sat up in my bed and kissed him softly, my hand resting on his bicep while his hand rested on my cheek. We continued to kiss until we heard my door open and a man in his mid to late 30s walked in.
Isaac turned and stood immediately when he saw the man, fear in his eyes. "Dad." he said softly.
"Do you know what went through my head when I get a call from Sheriff Stilinski saying my son was in a 'physical altercation' at two in the morning? What the hell is my son doing out of bed at two in the morning? Why is he fighting at two in the morning?"
"Dad, I-I can explain." His Dad held up his hand calmly.
"Don't bother. You have nothing to say that will get you out of trouble." His fathers entire demeanor was calm and collected which made him that much scarier. He motioned for Isaac to follow. His father turned to me as Isaac reached the door.
"I hope she's not the reason you broke my rule. She's trash, someone like her is a disgrace to her family and you'll do yourself a favor by staying away from her." His father turned and left. Isaac followed behind with clenched fists and I knew he couldn't have defended me against his father, that man was evil and he was the reason Isaac had all the bruises on his body.
