Chapter 7: Changed
Tsunade cleared her throat and Minako pulled away whilst composing herself. Kaien on the other hand clasped his hands together with stars in his eyes.
"Look at you two! Reunited like star crossed lovers how romantic. Minako-san, I would love for you to be my daughter-in-law!" He said with admiration.
The expressions on Zero and Minako's faces were to die for; their eyes were the size of plates and their faces were beet red.
"What?" They asked in perfect sync and Miyako was giggling quietly.
"The perfect couple!" The headmaster grinned.
"S-shut up!" Zero muttered.
"Seriously Kaien-sama, don't joke around like that!" Minako mumbled.
"Awwwww! You do know that denial is the first stage of love." The Headmaster smiled.
"NO WAY! WE'RE NOT IN LOVE!" Minako and Zero shouted in unison.
"Oh it's true and you know it." Kaien mumbled.
Midnight Sky neighed extremely loudly and wildly. He also kicked his front two feet forward and galloped strutted towards Minako. Oddly he pulled Minako by her cape away from Zero.
"Sky! What's going on?" She asked sternly and he neighed against whilst looking at the silver haired boy. She looked back at her best friend for a while and then turned to her beloved horse. "He's my best friend, Zero."
Midnight Sky huffed, shook his head and neighed louder. Minako growled at this and was getting more and more annoyed. She grabbed his reigns and held him still.
"Sky! Can you stop being so jealous and arrogant?!" She hissed and he neighed more wildly losing his patience and control.
"Yagari! Can't you understand what your horse is trying to tell you?" Sasuke shouted out and the said girl glared at him.
"Do you understand what he's saying?" She countered back and he glared back at her.
"As a matter of fact, I do. Look into his eyes and you'll understand everything." He mumbled and she turned to look at her precious horse's onyx eyes. She stared into them and gasped. Minako glanced at Zero and then at Midnight Sky.
"I'm sorry, Sky." She apologised and he turned away from her. "Alright! I'll give you 10 carrots and 5 sugar cubes tonight. Happy?" Midnight Sky looked at his master and huffed with defeat.
"Shall we go inside? I have a few things to discuss with you all." Kaien stated and they made their way to the Headmaster's Residence and Minako dropped Midnight Sky at the horse stables.
They were at Kaien's office and stood in front of his desk.
"The four of you will be students at Cross Academy and will be in the Day Class. You will also be prefects like my lovely daughter Yuki and handsome son Zero."
Almost instantly he punched the table and it left a crack on the table Miyako, Tsunade and Naruto jumped at this.
"I am not your adopted son! You may have cared for me, but I did not allow you to ADOPT me!" Zero yelled and Kaien sweat dropped.
"Zero, you pay attention too much to the details." Kaien said.
"You just cracked the table. Is that all, Zero-kun?" Minako crossed her arms.
"I'd like to see you do any better, Mina-chan." The dark haired girl smirked but her twin's eyes widened.
"Oneesan! This isn't Konoha, you won't dare." She warned and Minako punched the table and it broke in half.
Kaien's eye twitched and Yuki blinked with her jaw touching the ground. Zero just stared at her with large eyes; she's become so much stronger.
Minako on the other hand ran a hand through her wavy hair. "Headmaster, you've got a really weak table." She said.
"Heh, yeah I realise that now." He mumbled with a pout. In an instant, he composed himself and sat up straight. "You're duties as prefects will be to protect the Night Class and their secret."
"This Night Class, why are they so different from the Day Class?" Naruto asked curiously.
"The Night Class have classes at night and…" The Headmaster glanced at Minako who had an emotionless expression soon to be changed. "…the students are vampires."
The elder Yagari sibling gritted her teeth together, clenched her fists and her face twisted into a dark and fearful expression. But she didn't say anything and stood her ground.
"You expect us to protect those leeches?!" Miyako asked with anger. Minako felt a bit hurt by this and looked at her sister with a painful look; she was a leech herself. Sasuke noticed this and growled annoyed.
"Miyako Yagari, be careful about what you say." He muttered.
"She shouldn't be. They're nothing but bloodsuckers and beasts. They should all be killed. One day I'll kill every one of them, I don't care what happens." Zero said murderously and Minako averted her eyes to the ground. The Uchiha was getting more and more pissed off by the second.
"STOP IT!" Naruto and Sasuke yelled.
"Zero, Miyako you both should watch what you say." Kaien warned them and the younger twin gasped as she realised what she was doing. Miyako turned to Minako who had an emotionless face but her eyes couldn't fool anyone.
"I forgot to ask, Minako-san. Would you like to be in the Night Class?" The Headmaster asked and Zero's eyebrow rose at this.
"Why would Mina-chan want to be with a class full of vampires?" The silver haired Kiryu asked.
"Because…" Minako looked up and her face was so still and stoic. Zero turned to her. "…I am a vampire myself; a Level C." Again, his lavender eyes widened and he gasped.
"You're…" He trailed off.
"Couldn't you sense it, Zero-kun?" She asked and he realise that he didn't take any notice of what he was sensing from her. "And I don't want to be part of the Night Class. I wish to stay in the same class as imouto, Zero-kun, Naruto and…Sasuke."
"Very well, but one of you have to share a room with Zero." Minako smiled at this.
"Don't worry; I don't mind sleeping with Zero-kun. It'll be like the good old times." She said.
"I don't mind sharing with Mina-chan either."
"Then it's settled! But behave the two of you." Kaien warned.
"We're not kids." Zero mumbled.
"No, I meant behave. I don't want Minako-san to get pregnant before she's married." Zero and Minako's eyes widened, their jaws dropped to the ground and their faces were beet red. Yuki and Miyako were giggling away.
Naruto laughed like a hyena as he wrapped one arm around his stomach and pointed at them both.
"Naruto! Stop laughing." Minako shouted but the blonde haired ninja couldn't stop. The ANBU ninja stomped up to her best friend and growled.
Minako flicked his forehead and he ended up on the other side of the round on the ground.
"Woah, just one flick and he's on the other side of the room." Yuki mumbled to herself.
"You've perfected my flick." Tsunade stated and Minako nodded.
"As you are all students at my Academy, I'd like you to put all your weapons on the table." Kaien said and Naruto whined.
"That's not fair!" Minako smiled at this.
"Naruto, you don't need your weapons. You're strong enough with your Chakra and Jutsus." She said.
"Are you even serious?" Sasuke mumbled next to Minako but Naruto didn't hear this.
"You're so mean!" The elder Yagari twin slapped him playfully on the shoulder. Sasuke smirked at this and shrugged.
"Hey I'm not wrong." He said and she pouted.
"Sasuke! Leave him alone." Minako started to giggle and Sasuke smiled genuinely. They all stared at the pair and Miyako tilted her head to the side.
"Well that's something you don't see every day. I haven't seen Minako giggling in a few years and have never seen Sasuke smile for 5 years." Kakashi pointed out and the dark haired young woman stopped giggling. Sasuke's smile dropped and they looked at each other.
She averted her eyes to the ground and frowned. But then her face turned stoic when she looked up. Sasuke mirrored her expression too and they ignored that little moment.
Naruto, Sasuke and Miyako placed all of their ninja gear onto the table. When Minako stuffed her hands into her pockets, Tsunade stopped her.
"Wait Minako." The Hokage turned to Kaien. "Kaien-sama, I request for Minako not to hand over her weapons. She is part of the ANBU and she is my bodyguard." Kaien glanced at Minako and then nodded.
"What is 'ANBU'?" Yuki asked curiously.
"Minako takes orders directly from Lady Tsunade and performs special high-level missions." Kakashi answered.
"What kind of missions do you do?" Zero asked Minako.
"Escorting the Hokage, torture and assassinations." She answered and Yuki and Zero stared at the girl. Minako did change in the last 5-8 years. She wasn't the sweet, bubbly and innocent girl they knew in the past. She became, cold, merciless and strong.
The Headmaster got up and took out something from the cupboard. Kaien gave 4 Day Class uniforms to Minako, Miyako, Sasuke and Naruto.
"The 4 of you start your mission today." Tsunade stated and they nodded with determined faces.
