"Thought you said you don't drink." Duke's voice was heard somewhere in the room.
Nathan haden't realized but Audrey and Duke both made their way up the stairs and close to the bar. Nathan didn't care, he still had his head on the table with the bottle cradled in his hand.
"Are you okay?" Audrey asked, approaching him. She placed a hand on his back and comforted him.
"I killed him." Nathan mumbled.
"Yeah." Duke grabbed a chair that was close to him and used it for support. "Yeah, you did."
"Duke." Audrey glared.
"What?" Duke replied.
"No, no he's right." Nathan groaned.
"Yeah, i usually am." Duke chuckled.
"His wife was pregnant." Nathan ignored Duke's comment. "And i killed him."
"You saved his child. Now the trouble is gone. It was the only thing you could do, Nathan." Audrey tried to comfort her partner.
"No, no it wasn't the only thing I could do." Nathan grumbled.
"Duke was dying, it was nobody's fault." Audrey assured.
"And an innocent man died so..." Nathan glared at Duke. "He could live."
"Hey, fine, let me die. You'd be stuck looking like me forever but that's fine." Duke sarcastically remarked.
"You shut your mouth, Crocker." Nathan ordered.
"Bart was a good guy. He was a better man than either of us. But newsflash, i told you my trouble sucks. All troubles suck. Yours isn't a walk in the park either. But it's what you had to do. It's what I do every time you two call me." Duke admitted.
Nathan looked at Duke with sad eyes. "How do you get over it?"
Duke gave that firmilliar fake smile. He looked down.
After a moment of complete silence, Audrey sighed sympathetically "Duke."
"What?" Duke was still looking at the... Floor? or was it his legs?
"It's okay. Everything's okay." Audrey comforted.
"No, no it's not." Duke replied. "My leg has wood-chips in it and it hurts like hell."
Realizing that Duke was looking at the gash on his leg and just decided not to answer Nathan's question, Audrey gave her annoyed tone "Duke."
"What?" He asked innocently.
Audrey rubbed Nathan's back "You going to be alright? Come on, let's go get your car."
"Great, come on Chuckles, I call shotgun." Duke joked.
"You're going in your own car, Duke." Audrey ordered.
"But I walked here." Duke told her.
Without hesitating, Audrey smiled "Then you can walk back." She helped Nathan up and they both headed back to their cars.
"Come on." Duke chuckled. "You're joking. Very funny Audrey."
She walked past him with Nathan and glared right at Duke.
"Come on, you're funny. It's funny." Duke laughed.
Door open.
"Ha ha." Duke continued.
Door closed.
"Wait...Audrey?" Duke asked, completely serious.
The sound of a car engine.
"Audrey!" Duke exclaimed from his chair.
