Hiiii... so yeah it's filler time. I've been working really hard on the next few chapters because they're really exciting! Stuff is happening :D Anyway I hope you like this chapter even though it is kind of just filler, i tried to make it fluffy. Although I am kind of worried it comes across sort of like a sims game for some of it xD And I just know you're all going to think "What is she thinking" when the gang manage to decorate and furnish an entire apartment in one day... but you know lets just say they worked really hard! Thats all i'm gonna say xD
Disclaimer: I don't own victorious.
Jades due date was creeping closer and closer and with only six weeks left before they would become parents, Beck and Jade were surprisingly disorganised. Yes they had an apartment which they loved but they were still yet to decorate or buy any furniture for it. Cat equally had very few belongings, having had to get rid of quite a lot of them before moving into the attic of their school. They had been sleeping on mattresses on the floor which needless to say was not very comfortable for any of them and especially not Jade who at eight months pregnant found it extremely difficult to get either in or out of bed.
It wasn't that they didn't have the money to buy the home ware, they were just finding it extremely hard to make time to fit everything in that they had to do. Jades final exams had been pushed forwards so that she could still sit them before Elsa was born which meant she spent a lot of her free time studying. Beck had already been sent draft scripts for the second half of the movie that he had to memorise and both of them were doing a lot of reading in preparation for Elsa's birth. One evening they sat down together and put themselves through a birth video. It was traumatic and neither of them could eat for a long time after watching it. Jade also had weekly prenatal appointments at this stage in her pregnancy, but actually it was Tori who went with her those as she had been there from the start and Jade didn't see much point in changing now.
Early one Saturday morning, Beck and Jade were laying next to each other on the double mattress in one of the upstairs bedrooms they'd decided was theirs. It made sense that they got the master bedroom since they were the only ones sharing and the smaller bedroom next to it would be perfect for Elsa when she was old enough. It also meant that they got the en-suite bathroom which Jade was extremely happy about having missed the privacy of her own bathroom whilst she'd been living at Tori's.
Downstairs Cat was also asleep on a mattress in the remaining bedroom. This room was the second largest and would easily fit all of her stuffed animals and musical theatre props however at the moment it was decorated with garish bright orange flowery wallpaper and a putrid green carpet that Cat really really didn't like.
Beck had just rolled over and placed a hand on Jades stomach feeling the light fluttering movements of their daughter when the doorbell rang. He sat up startled and ran a hand through his bed head. He thought for a moment he'd imagined it but then it rang again.
'Go answer it.' Jade moaned pulling the blanket over her shoulders.
'I'm not wearing a shirt' Beck said, his brain still not functioning properly this early in the morning.
'Well put one on' Jade gave him a push out of the bed. Beck quickly found a shirt that he'd tossed on the floor last night and made his way downstairs. Cat emerged out of her bedroom about the same time, dressed only in a pair of bright pink pajamas and he gave her a sleepy smile as she flopped on the couch. Beck went over to the front door and was greeted by his parents, Andre, Tori and Robbie all dressed in old clothes and grinning manically.
'Uh hi' Beck smiled confused and wondering if he'd forgotten something they'd prior arranged. 'Come in, Jades in bed, Cat's on the couch.' Beck yawned.
'Told you they'd still be in bed at this time' Beck's father raised an eyebrow towards his wife.
'Frank!' Louise shook her head. 'Honey we're here to do some serious decorating. This place needs it! It still reeks of Pam.'
'I don't understand why you were friends if you hated her so much' Beck noted closing the door behind them all.
'Shush.. I didn't hate her. Anyway go get Jade! I've planned everything. Me, Jade and Cat are going to go pick out your furniture. You stay here with Dad, Andre, Tori and Robbie and get started on the painting and wallpapering. We've hired some guys to come in and remove all these icky carpets and replace them with wood, laminate, carpets.. whatever you want.'
'Mum you don't have to do all that' Beck shook his head.
'On the contrary Beckett Oliver I think I do.. I'm not having the mother of my grandchildren sleeping on a mattress on the floor for another day.' Louise protested, the room fell silent waiting for Becks reaction. He sighed giving in.
'Ok fine but Jade, Cat and I will pay for the furniture'
The furniture shopping took less time than they expected and they ordered all the furniture to be delivered this afternoon. But just before they were about to get back in car, Louise spotted the mother and baby store and in seconds both the older woman and red head were desperate to go inside.
'Please! We can buy her some outfits, toys things like that it will be fun!' Louise tried to persuade the eight month pregnant girl.
'Fun? It sounds awful!' Jade said bluntly.
'Aww come on Jadey, remember that cute story you told me the other night about wanting to find Elsa the most perfectly cloud like fluffy soft blanket'
'I was having a highly hormonal day' Jade insisted as Louise awed.
'Well what about a moses basket? and a crib? You need so much for the nursery.'
'Ahhh okay, okay, we can go in, but DON'T go crazy!' Jade looked at Louise in particular. She loved the woman but there was no doubting she was completely nuts, it was a wonder how Beck turned out so calm. They were in the store for only five minutes and Jade realised her words had fell on deaf ears as both Cat and Louise scurried around the store freaking out at everything. Jade didn't know why but she didn't want to tell the two excitable women that her and Beck had already bought everything they needed for Elsa. They only really needed her bedroom furniture.
After shouting Cat and Louise for 15 minutes she gave up and went to look at the clothes. Clothes were the first thing she'd bought, because she decided very early on she would not have her daughter dressed in ugly yellow outfits. She was just looking through the dresses when she noticed a little kitten toy that had been misplaced. She picked it up and checked the age on it.. It was suitable for newborns. Jade wasn't sure why but she felt as though she had a duty to rescue the cute little toy from it's tough life in the mother and baby store. She shook her head, knowing she was surely going soft and found a few more cute tiny cardigans and onesies before waddling over to look at the cribs.
A shop assistant came over and ended up helping her pick out an entire furniture range for her daughters bedroom. Jade was surprised she had fallen for the charm of the shop assistant but she had a feeling it was because she was also in the later stages of pregnancy. They bonded over stories of tiredness and backache and spent the majority of the half hour they were talking, complaining. She purchased a white crib, changing table and a cute moses basket for downstairs. After arranging the delivery Jade wandered the store once again looking for Cat and Louise.
But almost an hour later and Jade was still waiting for them to reemerge from the warehouse. Jade folded her arms and stood near the exit one hand on her hip as she waited for one of them to finally come and find her. Considering she was eight months along she didn't think they were being very considerate and she huffed already feeling tired from being on her feet all day.
'Excuse me ma'am?' The security guard caught her attention. 'I'm sorry I noticed you look like you'd perhaps like a seat somewhere? We have a cafe just down here if you want somewhere to relax.'
Oh great.. Jade thought to herself. Strangers commenting on her current state was not welcome. She probably looked tired, she justified to herself. Getting up to use the bathroom six times in one night can do that to you.
'I'm fine here' Jade smiled through her teeth. The security guard stepped back but gave her one last sympathetic look. Finally Louise and Cat showed up with bags and bags of stuff. Jade folded her arms and looked at them both irritated.
'Where have you been? I've been waiting for you forever!' Jade snapped.
'Aww sorry sweetie we just got caught up! Look at what Cat found though.' Louise said excitedly
'It's the softest blanky in the world.' Cat said sweetly holding up a light green blanket. Jade reached out and felt the blanket.
'You're right it is very soft.' Cat smiled at Jades approval.
'And I picked up some of these maternity pads, breast pads, perineal gel, stretch mark cream-'
'Louise!' Jade interrupted shocked.
'What? No use pretending you won't need any of this stuff.' Louise said confidently.
'Yeah but I didn't expect you to buy them.. you could have just got me some diapers or something!' Jade felt her cheeks going red.
'Oh yeah I got you a 50 pack of diapers too'
'Ahhh' Jade screamed and turned to waddle as fast as she could back to the car. 'Lets get back before you buy anything else!'
When the girls returned from the shopping trip the apartment had already begun to transform. They had completely wallpapered Cats bedroom which was now hot pink and painted the living room 2 shades of beige and fitted mahogany floors. Jade was happy that the first person she saw was Beck and she immediately dropped her bags and fell into his arms.
'Someones happy to see me' Beck laughed.
'Hold me!.. Whose idea was it to send the pregnant woman out with your mother and Cat!' she wailed.
'Ahh..' Beck shook his head kissing her on the head 'Well you survived' he added jokingly as she bent down to get the bags.
'Hey i've got it' Beck said picking them up for her.
'Thanks you can just put them in Elsa's room.'
'Actually Andre and I were just about to start on Elsa's bedroom. We were thinking two walls of light pink and two walls of cream.
'Pink?' Jade raised an eyebrow skeptically.
'Please, we found a picture it's really cute'
'Fine but I get to pick our bedroom'
'Thats fine by me' Beck smiled. 'Why don't you just relax down here for a while'
'Beck. I'm not just going to sit around doing nothing when everyone else is working at a million miles an hour to get this place decorated.' Jade put her hands on her hips.
'Everyone else isn't eight months pregnant' Beck raised an eyebrow.
'No I'd rather help, can't I just come help you and Andre with Elsa's bedroom?'
'Fine' Beck sighed as she waddled up the stairs towards the smallest room. Andre looked just as surprised to see her as Beck was defeated, but handed her a paint roller and some of the cream paint nevertheless. The three of them actually ended up having a lot of fun painting the baby room. Beck and Jade got flirty and playfully flicked each other with the paint. Needless to say, ending in Jade getting pink paint all down Beck's pants. The three of them sang along to the radio and finally, Andre and Jade who had both taken advanced art a couple of semesters back painted several butterflies in a rainbow of colours scattered all over one of the cream walls. It looked gorgeous and even Jade had to admit the shade of pink was subtle enough to look elegant rather than tacky.
The only rooms left to decorate now were the bathrooms and Beck and Jades bedroom. They stayed in their same teams, Robbie and Frank painting the en-suite white, Cat, Tori and Louise painting the main bathroom ice blue. Beck, Jade and Andre had the task of painting the master bedroom. After some debate between the couple on how "black" the room should be they settled on fitting a black carpet, painting three of the walls cream and having the back wall as a feature wall, decorated in black and charcoal wavy wallpaper.
Half an hour later and the bedroom was half complete. Beck had just finished applying a sheet of the dark wallpaper and stepped back to look at it when out of the corner of his eye he caught Jade wince. She dropped her paint brush and grimaced holding her stomach in pain. Beck stepped down from the stepladder he and Andre had been sharing and calmly placed an arm around her back knowing what was happening.
'Just take a deep breath' Beck instructed. Jade did so and eventually relaxed leaning against him. Andre looked alarmed and pointed to the door mouthing 'Should I get somebody?' Beck shook his head and mouthed back 'Braxton hicks.' Jade let out a shuddery breath and stood up a little straighter.
'I think thats your cue to slow down' Beck said quietly.
'Okay' Jade agreed. She had been getting Braxton hicks contractions for a few weeks now but they only seemed to get painful when she had overdone it. Jade rubbed small circles on her stomach as Elsa always kicked more after contractions.
'Come on lets go sit down for a bit' Beck said nicely, taking hold of her hand and guiding her out of the room and downstairs to the living room. The furniture had just begun to be delivered and luckily the two large sofas were the first thing the delivery men had brought in. Sitting down on the brand new couch, Beck gently rubbed Jades stomach as they watched as more and more furniture was placed in the room.
'Feeling better?' Beck asked after five minutes.
'Yeah thanks' Jade sighed relaxed.
'Anytime' Beck smiled stupidly and Jade rolled her eyes, pulling his face closer to press her lips against his. He might be an sappy idiot, but he was her sappy idiot.
'Hey I was wondering.. What about Rose for a middle name?' Beck brought up spontaneously. Jade blinked taken aback. She had never really considered giving Elsa another name.
'Why Rose?' Jade asked curiously.
'I don't really have a good reason.. I just feel like she's too special to only give one name.. and Roses are beautiful, which she is bound to be if she takes after her mother.' Jade smiled, Beck was hitting all the sappy high notes today.
'Elsa Rose Oliver' Jade said out loud.
'Oliver?' Beck questioned and Jade frowned pulling back from him shocked.
'You don't want our daughter to take your last name?' Jade asked, actually feeling hurt.
'I would love her to take my last name but I just assumed you would want her to take yours' Beck explained. Jade frowned even more.
'Why would I want Elsa to have anything to do with my family? My last name is just an ugly reminder that I was the disappointment, who's parents wanted nothing to do with once she got knocked up. Why would we give them any rights to her?'
'Alright, alright calm down. I like Oliver more. I do. It fits. Elsa Rose Oliver is perfect.' Beck said pulling her into his arms. They hadn't talked much at all about her parents or family situation. Despite what many people believed Jade had always been a Daddies girl. He was strict but a sweetheart with her when she'd been growing up. And her mother although slightly more distrait in her life than her father, had always been there for her when she needed her. Holding her the night she got home after the break up and actually taking an interest in her life when she wasn't away on business. That was probably why Jade felt so completely betrayed that they had both turned her away so easily. It scared her that people she'd trusted and loved so quickly turned their backs on her. Beck knew she'd cried about them.. but he had no idea what he could say. He couldn't understand their actions either.
'Can you believe this is our home?' Beck said trying to change the subject. Jade just smiled resting her cheek on his chest.
'We're a little family' Beck placed his hand back on Jades stomach.
'Tshh shut up' Jade laughed.
'Well we are' Beck grinned kissing her hair. Just then Louise entered the room covered in light blue paint. Beck and Jade widened their eyes looking at her.
'Err Hi Mum' Beck held back a laugh.
'Your friend Tori.. She's well coordinated isn't she!' Louise said sarcastically
'I'm sorry!' Tori cried from the bathroom.
'Anyway.. I was just about to make something for dinner, now we have the kitchen nice and stocked. You alright sweetie?' Louise said looking at Jade.
'Yeah i'm fine.. just overdid it a bit' Jade confessed.
'Braxton Hicks' Beck explained further.
'Ahh I remember when I was pregnant with Beck I started feeling them about 30 weeks along.. As long as they're not regular then they're perfectly normal. Scared his poor father to death though.'
'Jade laughed and stood up, 'I'll help you with Lunch Louise'
'J..' Beck said anxiously, preferring it if she stayed on the couch.
'I'm fine, you should be helping Andre with the bedroom anyway.' Jade insisted, waddling over to the kitchen. Beck looked like he wanted to argue further but Jade was so viciously strong willed he knew he wasn't likely to win the argument.
'Don't worry, i'll keep an eye on her' Louise reassured him, squeezing his shoulder. Beck smiled and reluctantly went back upstairs.
By the end of the evening the entire apartment was a transformation. They had all the doors and windows open encouraging the paint to dry but everything was pretty much perfect. Everyone was crowded in the living room and enjoying the vegetable bean bake that Louise and Jade had made together. It was an incredibly serene atmosphere. Tori sat on Andre's knee as Robbie played his guitar quietly in the background. Jade was exhausted and fell asleep early on in Beck's arms whilst everyone else talked excitedly about the arrival of the baby. It seemed like everyone wanted to meet Elsa. Everyone wanted to cuddle her and it felt right, like this wasn't an accident, this was the way it was always supposed to be. Beck hoped Jade knew even though she didn't have the support of her parents, she still had a family. The crazy people in this room. This was it.
