When Beck left the bedroom several hours later it was already light outside. His Mother was on the phone no doubt calling every relative they had to tell them about the new arrival. He gave her a smile as he walked past her in the living room overhearing her gush about being a grandmother and then knocked on Cats bedroom door. He waited until Cats soft, high voice invited him inside before letting himself in and finding Tori and Cat sitting on the bed looking excited.
'Hi guys' Beck tried to keep calm but he was still in utter shock. The words he was about to say seemed completely surreal 'Do you want to meet our daughter?'
'Yes!' Cat squealed giving Beck a tight hug and then running out of the room, bounding upstairs.
'Be gentle!' Beck called after her protectively as Tori approached him more calmly.
'Braxton hicks?' Tori asked skeptically.
'I'm just tired, It doesn't hurt that much.' Beck shook his head as Tori chuckled.
'Hows she doing?' Tori asked.
'Who Jade or Elsa?' Beck replied. The new father seemed a little dazed right now, probably a mixture of having had no sleep and the overwhelmingness of everything that had happened.
'Both' Tori shrugged.
'They're doing good' Beck nodded 'Jade's exhausted obviously but Elsa's keeping her awake I think'
'Are you alright? You seem a little stunned' Tori asked concerned
'I am.. but I'll be fine. Go see J she wants to see you' Beck smiled briefly. Tori nodded and turned to make her way upstairs.
'Oh and Beck?' Tori stopped in her track.
'Yeah?' Beck looked back up,
'You did good. Seriously. You delivered Elsa all by yourself and looked after Jade. You're going to be a really, really great Dad.' Tori reassured him admirably.
Beck shook his head humbly and smiled down at the floor before quickly covering his eyes with his palm and sniffing loudly. Tori blinked taken aback and pulled him into her arms completely shocked to see the usually stoic guy so emotional. After a few seconds Beck stepped back and wiped his eyes.
'Sorry I just..' Beck exhaled.
'Its ok Beck' Tori rubbed his arm supportively. The tanned guy took another deep breath before laughing at how out of character he was being.
'Go, before you make me worse' Beck joked. Tori gave him a final squeeze before running up the stairs, excited to finally meet the baby girl who was causing all of this drama. She walked along the hallway to Beck and Jades bedroom and cautiously pushed open the door. What she saw when she stepped inside made her heart melt a little. Cat was lying on the bed next to Jade and gazing at the tiny little baby who was fast asleep in her mothers arms. Elsa was dressed in a little pink onesie with a white wooly hat and mittens, and Jade looked much better having had time to recover and shower and change into some more comfortable clothes. Emma had pulled her hair up for her and she'd scrubbed her face clean of makeup. Jade looked up as Tori entered the room and smiled.
Tiptoeing over to the bed Tori sat down next to Jade on the opposite side to Cat and joined her friends in just staring at the beautiful baby girl. Although Tori had already briefly seen her when she was first born it felt different now, it felt like she was officially meeting Elsa Oliver.
'Congratulations Jade' Tori said softly
'She's so small' Jade let out a soft cry. Tori chuckled and put her arm around Jade who leant against her overwhelmed
'She's perfect Jade. She's the most beautiful baby I've ever seen' Tori said truthfully. Elsa honestly was picture perfect. She had a tiny button nose and cute chubby cheeks and she seemed so comfortable and content cuddled up to Jade 'How are you feeling?' Tori asked the new mother sensitively.
'Relieved' Jade replied barely in a whisper. Elsa's little mitten covered hand popped out and pressed against Jades neck. Just that tiny action caused yet another wave of tears from Jade. She could feel them wetting her cheeks and Tori's shirt but she just couldn't stop them.
'Are you ok? Are you in pain?' Cat asked sympathetically.
'No Emma gave me a thingy so I cant really feel anything' Jade explained through shaky cries 'Sorry I don't even know why I'm crying'
'Hey you're allowed to be emotional right now, you just gave birth!' Tori exclaimed 'I can't believe it happened so fast'
'I can't even remember anything between Karaoke Dokie and now except pain' Jade sniffed closing her eyes.
'Don't think about it' Tori advised, thinking it was best she didn't dwell on it 'You don't need to remember it.. Just focus on your baby and resting okay?'
'Uhh these hormones suck.' Jade grumbled, wiping her eyes.
'Well I think she's had everybody in tears. Maybe Elsa just has that effect on people and she's hit you and Beck the hardest' Tori joked
'Beck cried?' Jade lifted her head concerned.
'A little' Tori admitted, 'But don't worry sweetie he's just really happy' Jade nodded and lay her head back down on Tori's shoulder.
'Tori?' Jade asked a few seconds later.
'Yeah?'
'If you call me sweetie one more time I swear I'll kick you' Jade warned.
'I'd like to see you try' Tori smirked. Jade was hardly in any position to be kicking anyone right now as she rested against her delicately.
'Don't tempt me' Jade grumbled.
Tori smirked. 'And Jade West is back everybody.'
The rest of the day revolved mostly around Beck, Jade and Elsa sleeping, eating and resting whilst Cat and Tori went down the street to Andre's to give the couple some time to get used to the new arrival. Louise stayed in the apartment just helping them out with anything and everything. She went on a serious laundry spree, deep cleaning the bedding and towels that were still usable and anything else she could find in the apartment that could possibly be cleaned. Around 3pm Emma returned to the apartment and Louise let her in. When they went upstairs they found Beck and Jade laying side by side on the bed with Elsa curled up her father's chest.
'She's very, very cute' Emma complemented. Jade smiled and stroked the babies cheek lightly with her finger.
'I've cleaned the sheets and whilst I was at it I vacuumed downstairs and cleaned your kitchen' The new grandmother informed them.
'Thanks Mum you didn't have to' Beck replied
'Nonsense! I think my granddaughter deserves the best don't you?'
'Definitely' Jade agreed watching her daughter intently.
'Do you feel like going downstairs?' Emma suggested. Jade agreed whilst Beck immediately said a definite no. The couple appeared to have a silent discussion with their eyes.
'Babe..' Beck said anxiously.
'Beck we can't stay up here forever' Jade reasoned, already shifting to sit up. She winced as she stood up but felt better once Louise wrapped her arm around her shoulders stabling her. She would normally feel weird about accepting this much help but honestly she was so drugged up right now she really didn't care.
'Beck you go on down, this is going to be slow ok?' Emma said mostly to Jade. Beck nodded and carefully stood up too, holding Elsa in his arms.
'Please, please be careful.' Jade said, her eyes panicked as Beck walked across the room cradling their newborn.
'I promise.' Beck assured her before slipping out of the bedroom.
'Lets go then.' Emma held the door open for them as Jade took slow but unbalanced steps out of the room. She did fine across the hall, feeling like she really didn't need Louise who was still fully supporting her, but the stairs were another story, feeling a lot of pain with each step.
'I feel really weird.' Jade admitted about half way down.
'Ok lets sit down here for a minute. Its not going to be very comfortable but better than fainting' Emma said helping her to sit. Jade grimaced sitting down on the wooden step and leant on Louise who was rubbing her arm apologetically.
'How much sleep have you had since she was born?' Emma asked curiously.
'Im not sure about 4 or 5 hours' Jade guessed.
'Less' Beck called from the living room. Jade rolled her eyes.
'Well thats not too bad' Emma reassured her.
'Why am I like this then?' Jade asked exasperated.
'You gave birth less than 24 hours ago Jade. I know you like to run about controlling everything but you're going to have to take it very easy for the next couple of days so your body can recover.' Emma said warningly.
'Where's Elsa?' Jade asked hazily.
'She's asleep in the basket in the living room and Beck's sitting with her. She's fine don't worry' Louise reassured her, rubbing her arm softly
'Ready to do the last bit?' Emma suggested, anxious to get Jade off the hard wooden stairs. Jade nodded.
'Are you actually? You don't just want to get back to Elsa?' Emma asked suspiciously.
'No I feel better now' Jade promised, taking Louise and Emma's hands who helped pull her to her feet. They continued the descend downstairs and when Jade finally reached the bottom stair she exhaled, letting go of the two women's hands.
'I am not looking forward to going back up.' Jade exclaimed, making her own way over to the couch where the tanned guy had laid out some blankets and pillows so she'd be comfortable. Beck helped her to sit down and get her feet up on the couch before snuggling in next to her. As if on cue, the moment they got relaxed Elsa began to cry. Stepping over to the moses basket, Louise carefully picked up her granddaughter and bounced her gently.
'Hiya Elsa.' Louise cooed to the newborn. 'You're absolutely beautiful aren't you?' Louise smiled down at Beck and Jade who were watching her protectively albeit slightly exhausted.
'I think your Mummy wants a cuddle.' Louise bent down to place the newborn in Jades arms who smiled, accepting the baby and kissing her tiny cheek.
'She definitely knows you. Did you see how much she relaxed the moment you touched her?' Emma pointed out. Jade looked up at Beck who was watching them with the sappiest look on his face imaginable.
'Have you had any meals yet?' Emma asked seriously.
'I had a pop-tart this morning' Jade shrugged.
'Still loving all the sugar then?' Emma wrote a note down in a medical file she was keeping for the both of them.
'Well she'll be getting a home cooked meal this evening I'll make sure of that' Louise said assuredly.
'Alright well I'll get going then since you seem to be adjusting so well.' Emma picked up her bag 'Jade just take it easy and you'll be feeling back to normal soon.'
'Thanks Emma, see you next week?' Beck asked, wrapping an arm around Jades shoulders.
'Yes, but don't hesitate to call me if you need help before then. Bye guys! I'll let myself out' Emma smiled leaving the little family in their apartment. Louise went out soon after to go on a massive food shop for the apartment and also to grab a few things from her home.
'This is surreal' Jade whispered as she cuddled the tiny baby. Elsa was blinking and scrunching her eyes up as though she was trying to see but the light was so sensitive for her brand new eyes, it was difficult for her to open them properly.
'Show us those beautiful eyes Elsa' Jade cooed as she encouraged the baby to open her eyes. When she finally managed it she focused in on her mother, staring intently at her face.
'What are you looking at?' Jade smiled down at the baby.
'The prettiest Mummy in the world' Beck grinned as Jade raised an eyebrow towards him. Leaning in to capture her lips in a proper kiss, Beck realised just why he felt so emotional. Not only had he fallen in love with his daughter but he'd fallen in love with Jade all over again. Pressing their foreheads against one another when their lips broke apart, they both closed their eyes and indulged in the brief moment of peace, unsure if they'd ever felt more whole.
A couple of hours, diaper changes, and feeds later and the sound of a key turning in the door caused the couple to turn their heads as Cat, Tori, Andre and Robbie entered the apartment.
'Hi' Cat whispered, tiptoeing into the living room 'Is Elsa sleeping?'
'No she's kind of half awake, half asleep' Beck explained, kneeling on the floor and peering at the baby girl who lay in the moses basket. Elsa had her eyes closed but was wriggling her legs about experimentally, getting used to her new surroundings.
'How are you feeling?' Tori followed Cat into the living area and wrapped her arms gently around Jade.
'I'm good, just tired' Jade hugged her back. Tori sat down next to Cat on the opposite sofa where they both just smiled, staring at the newborn admiringly. Jade looked behind her and saw the guys hovering in the hall unsurely.
'You can come in' Jade called them over. Robbie and Andre glanced at each other before cautiously approaching the living area.
'Hi Jade' Robbie waved awkwardly, unsure how he was supposed to act.
'You feeling like a Mum yet?' Andre smiled sitting down on the couch next to Tori.
'I feel more like a human milk machine to be honest' Jade said honestly. Andre looked horrified and Tori pushed him teasingly on the arm.
'Speaking of which.. I think she needs feeding again babe' Beck said as the newborn began to cry loudly from the basket. Beck lifted the baby into his arms and all their friends beamed getting a proper look at the new arrival. Beck sat on the edge of the couch giving Jade privacy whilst she got Elsa latched on then wrapped a blanket around them.
'Robbie are you crying?' Beck asked when he turned around.
'No..' Robbie denied, albeit wiping his eyes beneath his glasses 'She's just so cute!' Everyone laughed softly as Cat gave the curly haired boy a squeeze and lead him into her bedroom to cheer him up.
'Beck could you get me some of those breast pad things from upstairs?' Jade said, realising she'd need them.
'Yeah sure' Beck ran upstairs without hesitation. He was back within a couple of minutes and handed Jade what she needed.
'Could you get me some water?' Jade pouted.
'Yeah sure' Beck jumped up and filled her a glass from the fridge.
'Whipped' Andre coughed jokingly. Jade raised an eyebrow in his direction.
'Are you kidding me Andre? I gave birth last night!' Jade exclaimed.
'You have him wrapped around your little finger West' Andre smirked.
'Jealous Harris?' Jade fluttered her eyelashes
'Bro, I know you're joking but if she gets off that couch because you convince her to-' Beck began warningly.
'Stay on the couch Jade, I'm serious we love you too much' Andre quickly saved face. 'Oh.. by the way, my Grandma went slightly crazy when we told her that Elsa had been born so she's cooked you guys like twenty meals and put them in freezer boxes for you.' the dreaded guy signalled to a large bag he'd brought with him.
'That's actually really, really helpful' Beck said truthfully. He got the feeling that neither of them would have much time for cooking for the next couple of weeks 'Seriously tell her we said thanks' Beck gave Andre a bro hug as both of them headed to the kitchen to put the meals in the freezer. Tori rolled her eyes at the guys before shuffling closer to Jade just watching her breastfeeding her daughter.
'Does it hurt?' Tori asked curiously.
'Not really..' Jade kept her eyes on Elsa 'At first it was a bit weird but I kind of like the closeness.. She feels so far away now.'
'Well that's probably just because your used to her being inside you but she's not so far away, she's right beside you' Tori smiled understandingly. 'Did you get any sleep?'
'Yeah some' Jade looked up at the tanned girl a thought suddenly occurring to her 'I didn't say thank you'
'Huh?' Tori replied confused.
'I didn't say thank you to you for last night. I still can't remember much about the labor but I remember you helped me so.. thanks' Jade trailed off feeling embarrassed.
'Jade, you don't need to say thank you for that. You did all the hard work. I was just.. there.' Tori smiled honestly.
'You always say how I'm never polite or grateful and then when I am you tell me not to be' Jade complained.
'Oh shut up you' Tori smirked.
'Do I still look pregnant?' Jade asked curiously.
'Well yes..' Tori admitted cautiously, not wanting to upset her if that wasn't the answer she was hoping for 'But you definitely look smaller. I'm sure give or take a few days, you'll notice the difference'
Jade nodded, pulling a burp cloth onto her shoulder and lifting the tiny baby up to gently rub her back after her feed. It was weird how naturally she was just taking to being a mother. She'd read a couple of books about newborns whilst she was pregnant but so far nothing she'd read had come in any use. Everything she did just seemed like an instinct.
'Aww she has her eyes open' Tori beamed, catching another glimpse at Elsa. 'They're so blue!'
'I know. She definitely didn't get those from her Daddy' Jade smiled. 'We realised all her main features are the same as me, like her light brown hair and her blue eyes. We can't put our finger on it though.. Theres just something about her that screams Beck'
'I think it's just her face.. she's got Beck's "aloof" look' Tori smiled as Jade lifted the baby back into view and wiped a little milk off her face. Elsa stared up into her mothers eyes as she slowly drifted to sleep.
'Can she get any more adorable?' Tori's heart melted as she watched Jade kiss the sleepy baby softly on the top of her head.
'Do you want to hold her?' Jade offered.
'Really?' Tori looked shocked, she didn't expect Jade to let her hold Elsa when she was barely even a day old.
'Yeah if you wash your hands and stay here with me' Jade said protectively. She would have felt uneasy passing Elsa around everybody, but for some reason Tori was an exception.
'I'd love to!' Tori replied excitedly, before rushing to the bathroom to scrub her hands clean. When she came back, she sat down next to Jade who gently passed the tiny sleeping baby into her arms.
'Oh my God' Tori whispered overwhelmed as she stared at Elsa. She was so small and cute, a little piece of her two friends. It was actually kind of scary how completely dependent she was on her parents, so fragile and so delicate. It only seemed like yesterday when they first heard her heartbeat through Jade's barely showing stomach and took home that tiny black and white photograph of the ultrasound. Tori started to well up just cuddling the sleeping baby.
'I can't believe she's here' Tori smiled as tears ran down her cheeks. The guys came back into the living room and Beck sat down next to Jade wrapping an arm around her shoulders as she leant against him exhausted.
'Actually we wanted to ask you guys something' Beck said now they had both of them alone. Andre and Tori looked up intrigued as Beck confirmed with Jade what he was about to say. 'We were wondering if you two would be Elsa's Godparents?'
'Wow.. Guys thats amazing! Really?' Andre grinned completely ecstatic. Tori just made a sort of squeak sound, unable to formulate a sentence.
'Is that a yes?' Jade asked smirking.
'Yes!' Both Tori and Andre agreed immediately. Andre stood up and gave both Beck and Jade a hug.
'Elsa I'm your Fairy Godmother Tori and I'm going to spoil you like crazzeeyy!' Tori snuggled the baby excitedly.
'What have we unleashed?' Jade said sarcastically, before closing her eyes and resting against Beck who just smiled, kissing her hair lovingly.
'Go to sleep baby' Beck whispered into her ear as she lay next to him. Jade started to drift off but periodically kept waking up, her eyes finding their way to Elsa and checking she was ok.
'Shall we get going?' Tori sensed it was time for them to leave, as Jade became increasingly less alert.
'Maybe' Beck admitted 'Sorry we're a bit all over the place today. But I think it would be best if you left so Jade can get some proper sleep. I actually can't remember the last time she slept longer than two hours' Beck looked down at Jades sleeping frame slightly concerned.
'No need to apologise Bro. It was just nice to get to meet Elsa and see you're both doing ok' Andre patted his shoulder standing up as Cat and Robbie reentered the room.
'Yeah we'll get there. Thank you so much for all the food' Beck said gratefully.
'Thank you so much for making us Elsa's Godparents.. seriously that's so special, I can't even explain how much that means to me' Andre admitted, smiling down at his girlfriend who was still cuddling with the newborn.
'You guys deserve it after everything you did for us, especially whilst I was in England. You've been really, really good friends' Beck nodded at them both.
'Stop being such a sap!' Jade mumbled in her sleep. Beck rolled his eyes and looked at Tori and Andre apologetically.
'Well.. at least she's getting back to normal' Beck shrugged. Tori laughed shuffling in her seat.
'Do you want to take Elsa or shall I put her back in the basket?' Tori asked the new father.
'Err lay her down for a bit.' Beck decided 'She'll probably wake up soon, but you can tuck her in whilst she's asleep.' Tori carefully lay the baby in the moses basket and Beck knelt down, to help Tori to tuck her in safely.
'Bye Jade' Tori smiled, giving Jade a kiss on the cheek as she lay there half asleep.
'I didn't like that' Jade grumbled.
'Yeah yeah, text me tonight?' Tori asked.
'Mmhm' Jade agreed, burying her face into a pillow in utter exhaustion.
'See you soon Jade. Keep ordering Beck about ok? I mean it' Andre smiled redeeming himself from before. Beck stood up to go and let them all out and Cat waved them all goodbye from the door before skipping back to her bedroom. Just before Beck went to close the door he noticed Tori and Andre hugging and kissing each other affectionately in the hallway and Beck smiled, happy his friends were back on good terms again and wondering if maybe their decision to make them Godparents had anything to do with that.
Closing the door behind them, Beck walked quietly back into the living room where he found Jade out like a light. After wrapping his girlfriend up in a blanket, Beck crouched down next to Elsa who had considerately decided since her Mummy was asleep, now was the best time to cry extra loud. Lifting his one-day-old daughter into his arms Beck began to rock her gently and almost immediately her tears stopped.
'You just wanted to know someone was there didn't you Elsie?' Beck kissed her sweetly on the cheek. Elsa wriggled a little, flailing her little hands and Beck wrapped his arms around her protectively. As her eyes focused in on his, Beck smiled and stared back at her lovingly. Her eyes were so like Jades, in fact, she was a tiny replica of Jade. She was completely beautiful. Snuggling his daughter closely in his arms, Beck felt like the luckiest person in the world.
'Welcome to the world Elsa.'
So much fluff... drowning in fluff... lol.
Please leave a review. What would you like to see happen now Elsa is born? How do you feel about Tori and Andre as godparents? :)
