Author's Note: Okay, I thought I already uploaded this chapter, but I guess not. I'm just really trying to extend this story as much as I can because I don't want it to end! There's a poll on my profile about whether or not you guys want me to extend this into a trilogy :) Please give me a response (or you know, use those hashtags I'm so fond of to tell me what your preference: #TwoStories #ThreequelKayson).
Also, if you're wondering why I'm uploading now while PLL is on in the Big Apple where I am from, and it's because fate wanted me to upload today. Seriously, I was coming home from the bus and I always have my headphones in, except for when I'm getting off the bus. The radio was playing "Everything Has Changed" by Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran as I was getting off. The Great Cheesepuff in the Sky wanted me to update, and I shall not let him down.
Chapter Twenty-Nine
Emily handed over the large dress bag to Spencer. Spencer smiled brightly when she had the big, black bag in her arms.
"Hanna asked me to give it to you. I could've sworn she was about to try it on when I got to her apartment," Emily said as Spencer walked into the living room with it.
Spencer bit her lip. "I haven't seen it in months. Would it be bad if I…no, I shouldn't," she discouraged herself, shaking her head.
"What?"
"I was wondering if I should open it, but I'm scared that if I let it see the light before the day of the wedding, something bad will happen," Spencer said while laughing, finding her own thoughts irrational.
Emily shrugged. "Why not? It's not like you have a huge vat of tomato juice hanging precariously over your head," she said.
Spencer thought about it for a moment. "You're right," she answered finally. Taking a deep breath, she walked into the bedroom, Emily following her. She hung the long dress bag on the back of the door. Taking another deep breath, she slowly unzipped the bag. Her face broke into a wide smile when she saw the dress. It got more and more beautiful each time she saw it. The lace overlay with the delicate beading glistened in the light. The champagne-colored sash looked gorgeous with the white lace and ivory base fabric.
"Is it as pretty as you remembered it?" Emily inquired, interrupting her thoughts.
"It's even better," she claimed as she took one long look at it.
Spencer stood, admiring it for a moment more before zipping the bag back up. "Now, where should I hide this so Toby doesn't see it?" Spencer questioned.
"Hide it in the back of your closet, around a bunch of other black dresses and shirts and skirts," Emily suggested.
Spencer nodded. She brought Emily into her closet. She had this long black chiffon dress she never wore, but was about the same color black as the bag. She also had this pretty black blouse and some black pencil skirts.
"Can you see it?"
"Nope. It looks like Hanna herself came here and hid it. You know, she's a master at hiding stuff. She showed me how to hide all her Manolo Blahniks so Caleb doesn't judge her when they have their sleepovers at her place," Emily said.
"Only Hanna," Spencer answered with a laugh. She shuffled through some more items of clothes, this time pulling out a red plastic bag. It was long.
Upon further inspection, Emily realized that it was another dress in a clear, plastic dress bag.
"This is yours," Spencer said before handing it to Emily. "Go ahead, try it on," Spencer encouraged before stepping out of the closet and closing the door.
She waited outside, drumming her fingers on the wall before she heard the door open. Emily walked out, looking stunning in the long red dress.
"You look amazing, Emily," Spencer said.
"Not half as amazing as you'll look in your wedding dress," Emily answered reassuringly.
Spencer smiled.
"So what do you have left to do for the wedding?" Emily asked before taking a sip of lemon water.
"It feels like I have so much. Hanna and I still have to make the seating arrangements, we have to make programs, and I still have stuff to plan for the honeymoon," Spencer said, a slight blush creeping onto her cheeks.
"Ooh, have fun with that. Do you know what you're doing yet?"
Spencer shook her head. "And honestly, I don't care, as long as I'm with him in someplace relaxing," she answered.
Emily nodded before looking at the menu and deciding what she wanted to order. They were at a café on the outskirts of Rosewood, a quaint little place. Spencer was busy writing something down in the journal Hanna had given her for all the wedding things.
"Aren't you going to get something?" Emily asked, noticing she hadn't opened the menu at all.
"Hmm? Oh, no, I'm just going to get coffee. I'm not hungry anyway, and I need all the caffeine I can get," she said.
Emily debated protesting, but decided to keep her mouth shut. She wasn't about to annoy Spencer, not wanting to test whether she would react rationally or like a Bridezilla.
"So, Toby's been out of town. How do you feel about that?" Emily asked after deciding.
Spencer shrugged. "I want him back, but I'm glad he's getting work. Soon we're going to be married and I hope that as his wife, I might be able to convince him to stay more local, or at least take me with him," she said before writing something else down.
"Are you guys staying in your apartment for now?" Emily asked.
Spencer nodded. "We've talked about moving, but we sort of decided that we don't really want to look for a house. I don't think we're going to have any children anytime soon, so the apartment should be big enough for the both of us."
Emily couldn't help but smile at the thought of their child. "Kids? You guys have had that discussion?"
Color rose to Spencer's cheeks. "Not really, but…I don't know if I'm personally ready to have kids yet," she said. "I do eventually want to have kids with him but…there's no rush," she said finally.
Emily shrugged. She still couldn't help but feel really happy over the prospect of two good friends having a baby together.
"So you have only like seventy-five guests, making this a lot easier than I thought it would be," Hanna said as she began to examine the names Spencer wrote down for them to separate into tables.
Spencer nodded. "Well, seventy-five, not including the wedding party or my parents and sister and her husband," Spencer said before looking at the board again.
"Toby's parents aren't coming?" Hanna asked.
Spencer bit her lip. This was sort of a touchy subject between even Spencer and Toby. "We invited them, but they never responded. Since the wedding is in three weeks, we just assumed that they aren't coming. Toby's step-mom doesn't like him much, and since his dad is wrapped around her finger…" she trailed off. Sighing, she added, "It doesn't help that Toby and his father were never too close, either."
Hanna nodded. "Okay, so seventy-five, plus ten and four...and then me and Toby…that's…ninety. So if we make nine tables of ten or ten tables of nine…hmm, how are we going to do this, Hanna? And how are we going to split up the group?" Spencer asked, biting her lip.
"Do you really think anyone is going to throw a bitch-fit on your huge day about not sitting with you? If you're sitting at one of these tables and we split them into nine, then you can sit with your parents, your sister and her husband, and three of us," Hanna said.
Spencer nodded. She thought about it for a moment. "Well…I can't just exile the person who helped me plan this whole thing," Spencer said before moving Hanna's and Caleb's names to the same table as her and Toby. "Besides, Caleb and Toby are best friends. And then we should bring over Emily, since we need one more person," Spencer said, putting the post-it with the rest of the table.
Hanna nodded. "Okay, that table is set. Now, I assume that Shane, Tiffany, Jason, Aria, and Cassidy are going to the next table over?" she asked.
Spencer nodded. "And Tiffany's new baby, who should be the youngest little guest by then. But I didn't include him or her in the guest count; I think that we can make room for the baby," she said.
Hanna smiled.
Spencer sat, leafing through the journal for the thousandth time that night. It was well past midnight and Spencer couldn't go to sleep, no matter how hard she tried. She just wanted him home. The only thing she could do to ease her nerves was to throw herself further into wedding planning.
She sighed, finally looking up. She felt like she hadn't slept in weeks. She was sure she looked horrible.
Once Toby came home, things would be better. It was only three more days; she'd be fine.
Spencer nodded, thinking that would be the solution. Only three more days…things would get better.
That's what she repeatedly told herself before she finished off the glass of wine.
"You look horrible," Aria said when Spencer answered the door the next morning.
Spencer groaned in response. Cassidy just trotted in, not even acknowledging Spencer's appearance. Aria walked in, following her little daughter. She looked Spencer over again.
"What the hell happened to you?" she asked.
Spencer sighed. "I don't think I've slept in the last two or three days and wine plus lack of sleep is not a good combination," she explained before sitting down and resting her head on the counter.
"Did you eat anything?" Aria asked.
Spencer just shook her head. More she thought about it, she couldn't remember the last meal she had eaten in the last two or three days.
Aria shook her head in disapproval. "That's not good, Spence. I'm going to make you lunch, okay? Spencer?"
Aria walked over to Spencer, who looked to be knocked out cold. Aria nudged her. Spencer groaned and looked up at Aria.
"I think I'm going to be sick," Spencer said before putting her head back down.
"I think you already are," Aria said before getting out all of the things she needed to make Spencer something that would (hopefully) make her feel better. "Cass, where did you go?" Aria yelled.
Spencer yelped. "Aria! Do you have to be so loud?" she asked.
Aria rolled her eyes. "I'm doing you a favor."
Cassidy walked back out. She finally noticed Spencer. "Auntie?" she asked, taking in how horrible Spencer looked.
"Cass, Auntie Spencer isn't feeling to well, so you and Mommy are going to be taking care of her today, okay?" Aria asked.
Cassidy nodded. Aria smiled at her little girl. Cassidy toddled over to Aria. Aria opened various ingredients to start making lunch for Spencer.
Spencer, on the other hand, wasn't thinking of eating at all. She just felt nauseous and light headed. And with everything going on…
A familiar feeling overcame her before she rushed into the bathroom.
"Spencer!"
Spencer couldn't really respond. She had that sickening feeling one gets when they throw up without anything actually in their stomach.
She heard Aria enter the bathroom, little footsteps following her. "Spencer, are you okay? Do I need to take you to the hospital?" she asked.
Spencer woke up again to the harsh, bright lights of the hospital. She shook her head, not enjoying this sensation very much.
She sat up and saw Hanna, Aria, and Cassidy there. Cassidy was squirming in Aria's arms.
"What happened? Why am I in the hospital?" she asked.
"You were really dehydrated and malnourished. The doctor asked me to shove that food down your throat if you refuse to eat it," Hanna said, pointing to a tray of cold hospital food and disgusting looking Jell-O.
Spencer winced. "Do I really have to eat that?" she asked.
Hanna sighed. "That is what I said. I told them that if I were you and I had to shove that green Jell-O down my throat, I'd probably puke on their shoes," she said.
"That is why we thought ahead and brought you Chinese food," Aria said, nodding towards a brown paper bag with a plastic bag around it.
"How'd you sneak that in?" Spencer asked.
"We didn't have to sneak it. They thought you'd refuse to eat the hospital food, and we told them Chinese was your favorite and you'd definitely eat it. I guess they decided that you're thin enough, so a little MSG and sodium wouldn't hurt you too much."
Spencer smiled. "Thank you."
Her smile faded when she thought of something else. She began to chew her lip. "Did either of you call Toby?"
"The doctors called him since he's your emergency contact. When Aria called me, Caleb called Toby. Toby said that he's coming home later to see you. He was really worried," Hanna said.
"Did Caleb tell him I was fine?"
Hanna nodded. "But you know Toby. He's a golden retriever, so he was naturally worried anyway," she answered with a shrug.
Spencer nodded as Aria brought her the tray of food. She supposed seeing Toby under these circumstances was better than having to wait longer.
"Thank you," Spencer said to Aria.
Review time!
spobylover1237:I'm dying with suspense as I watch this episode. It's only like five minutes in as of now, but I heard this rumour that Spencer is moving in with Toby and I was like ANSOINODMEINOSNOSKN I CANNOT COMPUTE THE FEEELLLLLSSSSSS THO DOMESTIC ANGELS I CAN'T. I'm sorry, I'm freaking out. I probably just scared you but I can'tttttt. Noooooooo.
tobyequalshottness: I guess you'll have to wait to find out. I can't talk about that. Interesting theory, though.
mickeymack19:I can't confirm or deny, but this will be mentioned when Toby comes back!
AL3110: I think Andrew is a decent guy ;)
Guest: Did all my readers just come up with this mass theory that this house is for Spencer and Toby? Ha ha, thank you! I hope you liked this chapter (I think Chapter 33, aka the last chapter besides the epilogue, is my favorite).
eveningshades1107: Maybeeeeeeee. Teehee, I can't tell. I always have tricks up my large, comfy sleeves. Tiffanna (or Tanna, I guess, but I feel like that would be the Hanna/Toby buddy name) would be COMEDIC GOLD, like really. I'll make sure to include them again. My new femslash favorite ship. I think I'm the only one who didn't totally hate all of the Spencer and Toby in this. I just didn't like how bunched up it was. Realistic, not really, but come on. How is any of this realistic? Emily kind of made me mad. The girl Emily talked to (can't remember which one she was) was cool, though. I think I already like her more than half the characters in Rosewood. She basically said everything Emily and the girls have been thinking for like a year and a half :)
Guest (valee13, AKA Valeria): You have a beautiful name! I've always loved the name Valeria. I think I first heard it when I was like nine or ten and I used to watch Project Runway. One of the models was named Valeria, I think. She was like the favorite of my favorite PR designer, Seth Aaron Hendersen. But I really only use names I really like in my stories (like Tiffany, Shane, Selena, Analeigh, Dianna, some of my favorite names ever) so I really do love that name :) I've never met/spoken to a Valeria :)
Sylviecake231: Have you read my mind? I've just been like, "Oh my gosh, I miss Theodora" and now here you are. It's okay. I was just getting kind of sad since I really like your work and it's like having one of your favorite writers like your work. I'm glad to hear about Forever in the Form of 15 Years, though. I love that story. Please let me know when it's updated! Yeah, Chanel and Andrew are being jerks, but I hope everyone gets there's something deeper and more emotional bothering Andrew. As for Chanel...she might just be a bitch, but she's gone, so it's not really important anymore. Tiffany scared her off :)
vondydora:I can't tell! You'll find out, but I will talk about that house more. Has anyone considered that he may have been getting that photo framed? I don't know, just a thought...get a really nice frame, make a really nice wedding present...and I think this will all provide closure for Andrew and Spencer.
AWW ALISON HAS A HEART. It's so cute. She's a sneaky little bitch but Sasha is amazing. She also has the same birthday as my best friend (so he gets brownie points).
AOSNOSMXSODKMOSNFVOIE4RNFOIENFOIN I LITERALLY CANNOT FEEL FEELS RIGHT NOW SPOBY STOP BEING SO FREAKING ADORABLEEEEE IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE EPISODE OMG SPOBY IS JUST TOOOO PERFECT IN IT URG I'M SPOLING EVERYTHING BUT I'VE NEVER FANGIRLED SO HARD IN MY LIFEEEEE.
Okay, if you watched this episode, I have my own choice hashtags: #DomesticAngels (because duh), #BigAIsWatching ('cause the Ezra is watching hashtag made me think of 1984 and Big Brother and urg, stop being a nerd, Kayson!),
Lol, my dad just walked into the room when my baby Spencer was on screen and started talking to me and I was like, "You know I'm not listening to anything you're saying" and he's like "Whaa-" and I point at the screen and he's like "Oh! Pretty Little Liars" and then all quiet and stuff (but really in like a fake whisper) he's like "SORRY!" Ha ha, the language my dad and I have...
Please leave me a review! I'd like to wait until I get like 10 reviews (mostly because I want to drag this story out as much as possible...I really don't want to let go!) so please don't leave the review box hanging. it only takes a second, even if all you write is one of my stupid hashtags, it's okay with me.
Also, in your review (or if you're a registered user, you could PM me) and we can fangirl about all of our PLL obsessions.
EZRA, MESSING WITH ASHLEY MARIN IS CROSSING THE LINE. NO RESPECT. NOPE, NO FORGIVENESS FROM THE KAYSON ANYMORE.
Okay, I'm done being weird now. -Kayson
