Family is Everything
Chapter 6
~Raven's POV~
"It's all your fault Raven. We all know it's true, when are you going to finally realize it! They are all dead because of you! You should have died along with the rest of them!" Laura continued shouting at me, driving me further into my own personal hysteria.
"No! I don't believe it! I had no choice but to run! What could I have done to help!? I was just a kid…" I mumbled out finally. I was back in the house, where it all started and there was Laura looking as dead as ever.
"Oh come on, we both know you were a coward. You run around this town standing tall and proud thinking you can make a change but you know that you are anything but. You let them burn." Laura continued and once she had said her last word we were outside and the house was burning again. You could hear the screams and the shouting of pure agonizing pain, the smell of the already burning flesh, and here I was not being able to move from my spot.
"NO!" I wailed and tried to run to the house but she grabbed me and held me back. "NO! LET ME GO!" I continued. "LET ME HELP THEM PLEASE!"
"Oh Raven, wake up and realize that you'll never be able to help them!" Laura mocked. "Wake up. Wake up Raven. Just wake up."
"NO!" I screeched only to see that I was actually in my bed back at the loft and Derek was holding me down while he and Cora attempted to calm me down.
"Raven! Raven calm down!" Derek repeated while I continued to squirm about, still picturing the burning house that ended the lives of most of my family every time I closed my eyes. "RAVEN!" He shouted once more and I could feel myself being brought back down from hysteria.
"Derek…" I mumbled out, just above a whisper. I finally looked at him, really looked at him and I could feel the tears sliding down my cheeks. Crying seemed to be a recurring event lately in this loft. "I should have done something… I should have died with them instead of running!" I sobbed, while hiding my face in his chest.
"Hey, hey, no, what happened that day, the fire, there was nothing any of us could have done." He explained gently in my ear while rubbing my back soothingly and rocking us back and forth like he would do when I was younger. "You are here today, with your family because you did the right thing and protected yourself and Cora. No one deserves a death so vile and cruel and I know for a fact that you definitely do not deserve it." He continued and I could hear Cora leaving the room but returning quickly with a glass of water for me to drink. I reached for the cup while unwinding myself from Derek's arms.
"Derek, a word?" Cora asked quickly, grabbing Derek's attention from me. "Alone?" She continued and I knew she wanted to discuss my behavior making me feel even more like a small child.
"Yeah, sure. Raven, I'll be right back. Are you gonna be okay?" He asked clearly, adding to my small embarrassment. I nodded in agreement and watched as they walked out of my room and closed the door as if that would make even the slightest of differences.
"It's happening again." Cora stated.
"What's happening? What are you talking about?" Derek questioned her and I could practically see the frown lines forming on his forehead even if I wasn't right in front of him.
"When Raven was younger, after the fire she would get terrible nightmares. It would haunt her every day for about a year and it was always the same. She would constantly blame herself for the whole event. I mean they finally stopped. I thought she had finally moved past this but I can't possibly understand what brought these dreams back." Cora explained with a thick layer of worry laced in her words. I had almost forgot the dreams from my childhood but now they came back to me in a flash. Still there was something different about these dreams, something new, Laura being in them was definitely new!
"Well you said that she got over them about a year later, how exactly did she do that?" Derek went on to ask.
"I said that after a year they stopped, I never said she got over them. Nine years ago we were both about six years old Derek, the dreams just started to fade along with her memory of them. The only reason I remember so well is due to the fact that I was the one to hold her while she cried her little eyes out. The family we had been staying with was constantly concerned but as the dreams left so did the daily conversations on her well being." Cora explained in detail and I was truly shocked. "I'm not this protective of her for no reason Derek, I've been protecting her ever since." She went on to confess and I could hear how her words caught in her throat.
"Cora, please don't cry. You two aren't alone anymore, I'm here now." Derek reassured her. I found myself hugging my knees to my chest as silent sobs racked throughout my body. How could I have been putting my sister through so much without even realizing it? She is still so young and I've robbed her of her childhood.
While both Derek and Cora were still outside my room discussing my nightmares, I managed to quietly and swiftly change into something warm and slip on my sneakers without causing a commotion. I moved to the only window in the guest room and safely escaped from my bedroom and made my way through the dark roads.
At first I was roaming aimlessly, walking at a slow pace but then it quickly changed to a fast sprint. By the time I finally stopped running I found myself in front of the McCall house and all I could do was stare at it's quiet atmosphere. I found my way around the building until I found Scott's bedroom window, to my luck it was slightly open. If I planned on getting in the house without waking everyone up then that window was the way to go.
Making it up the side of the building was a relatively easy task and so was climbing in through the window which admittedly could be cause for future problems but I was finally inside. I took in my surroundings to find the room empty, no sleeping Scott in sight so I made my way to his bedroom door without falling over anything left over on the floor. As I began opening the door I was greeted by the strange and worried looks of Isaac. "Raven? What are you doing here?" He whispered, to keep from interrupting anyone else from their slumber. "Why are you crying?" He questioned and it was only now that I realized as I touched my face that I indeed had tears sliding down my cheeks.
"I needed to see you." I croaked out and practically collapsed into his arms. He cuddled me close to him and I could hear his steady heartbeat soothing my jumbled mind with its simple rhythm.
"Does either Derek or Cora know that you're here?" He asked and I shook my head in response. "Okay, I'll text Derek in a bit. In the mean time, Scott and I have been watching over Ms. McCall." He explained.
"Did something happen?" I whispered as I finally picked up my head and looked him in the eyes. The obvious concern that I could see present on his face simply threw me off for a loop.
"Yeah, something did happen but it's nothing you have to worry about until morning. You need sleep. Come on." Isaac led the way to what I guessed was Melissa's room and as we walked in I saw her sleeping soundly in her bed while Scott was knocked out in a chair just by the foot of the bed. There were a bunch of pillows on the floor where Isaac must have been and he quickly arranged the area a bit for me to accompany him.
He sat down carefully and I quickly followed suit, I found myself cuddling into him as we got into a comfortable position. Isaac laid on his back using the pillows to support his head while I used him as a human pillow with his arms wrapped around me tight. "Get some sleep." He whispered in my ear and I worked on really getting to sleep in his arms. Soon I could actually feel myself drifting off into slumber as his heartbeat lulled me to sleep. All I could remember was the steady beating and the soothing circular motion of his hands on my back.
"Boys!" I heard Melissa shout and with a tumble I fell from Isaac's arms as he shot up along with Scott, checking their surroundings and looking like they didn't both fall asleep while on look out. My small tumble also successfully woke me up and alerted Melissa to my presence in the room. "Oh Raven, when did you get here?" She asked simply.
"Last night or morning or something." I mumbled out as I cuddled into the warm pillow leftover from Isaac.
"Alright, well why are you two boys in my room?" She asked turning her attention back to the fumbling teenagers.
"We wanted to watch over you and make sure you weren't the next sacrifice." Scott answered matter of factly and that was the exact moment I shot up from my comfortable position.
"Sacrifice!?" I shouted with a worried tone looking to both Scott and Isaac for an answer.
"Yeah, this is what I said could wait till morning to tell you. I'll explain everything in a bit." Isaac explained quickly. While we had our small conversation Scott had continued his with his mother and finally turned to us.
"Isaac was on watch last." Scott stated plainly.
"What? No I wasn't!" Isaac automatically denied as if by reflex.
"Isaac, I think you were on watch last." I confessed while holding back a chuckle at the spectacle in front of me.
As realization finally hit him Isaac spoke, "I might have been on watch last." With that I really couldn't contain myself and collapsed in a fit of giggles while Melissa continued the conversation with a small smirk on her face from my reaction. Isaac just stood above me faking offense at my outburst.
I tuned back into the conversation to catch a snippet of who the Durach was targeting, healers, and to hear Melissa dismiss the boys and myself. "Well, I don't plan on being sacrificed today so you three need to get your butts to school." She ended on a final note and after Isaac helped me up, all three of us filed out of the room.
"So, not that you aren't welcome or anything Raven, but why are you here?" Scott asked as we were finally outside of his mother's bedroom.
"I, um…" I began stuttering as last night's events came rushing back to me. "I just had a rough night. Nothing I can't deal with Scott, you on the other hand need to get to school." I continued while taking the subject away from me. Either Scott simply bought what I was selling him or he was saving me the trouble of having to fully explain before I was ready, it didn't really matter because I was grateful when he simply nodded and went to get ready.
I wasn't necessarily as lucky when I turned to see Isaac's stare, waiting for me to give him the full explanation as to my appearance last night. "Not now okay, I'll explain later. Now I have to get back to Derek before he really freaks." I sidestepped as I made my way to the stairs to actually exit through the front door but quickly stopped to turn back to Isaac. "You did text Derek last night right?" I quickly asked.
"Oh shit." Isaac let out while shaking his head. "There goes something else I didn't do last night." Just as he said this his cell phone rang from within the pocket of his sweatpants. He pulled it out to find Derek's name on the caller id.
"Speak of the devil." I joked with a small chuckle while he answered the phone with a smirk.
"Hello." He answered cautiously, knowing my brother's temper a bit too well for my liking.
"Tell me she is with you." Derek demanded. I wonder what would have happened if I actually wasn't here.
"Yes Derek, Raven is with me, safe and sound." I found my way down the steps and sat myself down on a couch in the living room while I continued to wait for Isaac to accompany me back to the loft.
As he came down the steps I looked up expectantly, "I'll be ready in a few."
After Isaac had filled me in on his conversation with Derek, I was livid. I did not enjoy knowing that the alpha pack had tagged our home with a warning and I sure as hell wasn't about to allow them to scare us one bit. Boyd had joined us as well, strength in numbers and all that jazz. I opened the door to the loft and was welcomed to silence but I knew Derek was around here somewhere.
"What are you doing here?" He called out to us from a hidden spot.
"I live here remember." I answered back sarcastically and my usual smirk but it fell off my face as he came into view and I saw how worried he actually looked.
"I meant the other two." Derek continued, trying to put on a calm exterior. "In fact, all three of you should be in school and you are all late." He scolded.
I moved to go get changed while the boys continued speaking. As I got into my room I checked my phone to find countless messages from Scott. I only focused on the most recent text he had sent me and was shocked, to say the least.
'Deaton just called for help. I think he is the next sacrifice.'
"Fuck!" I cursed as I quickly got back to him. 'Be careful finding him. I need to stay with Derek and the boys to keep him safe from the pack. I'm sorry I can't help more right now. Keep me updated.' I typed back in a hurry and threw on a clean pair of jeans and a simple long sleeved shirt.
I walked back to the others in record time and was glad that I hadn't missed much. Derek had finally got up from his seat on the spiraling stairs and made his way to Isaac and Boyd. "Now I must really be in trouble if you three are here to protect me." He joked.
"Ha! I'd be nicer to us considering we may just be your only hope Derek." I joked back as all eyes came to me. The other two quickly turned away but Isaac lingered on my appearance just a bit longer causing Derek to growl impatiently.
"Um yeah, Boyd actually has a plan." Isaac explained while he turned a light shade of red. As I sat next to him up on the table I nudged him playfully while Boyd went on to explain.
"Well, I thought back to the time Gerard locked up me and Derek, we were tied to up to electrical wires pushing currents through us." I was listening intently, half angered that they both had to go through this torture and the other half trying to envision Boyd's plan. "I was wondering maybe we could do something like that." He continued while pulling out a bunch of industrial electrical wires from his gym bag. "Just on a bigger scale."
I turned to see the wheels turning in my brother's mind as he began picturing the whole thing in motion. We definitely sparked his interest and had the makings of an amazing plan on our hands. Boyd continued to set up and connected a garden hose to a suitable water source. I listened patiently as he went on to explain how the system would work exactly, supplying facts along with his presentation.
"If we do this correctly, anyone who steps foot inside with get a pretty shocking surprise." He ended with a smirk at his pun and well explained plan and I smirked as well, sharing my appreciation.
"Good work Boyd. You two keep setting this up while I have a chat with Raven." Derek ordered and kept his gaze on me. Well he lasted this long without scolding me and/or checking to see if I was okay. Isaac and Boyd agreed simply but as I walked away with my brother I could feel Isaac's lingering glance.
Once we were a sufficient distance away from the others Derek finally turned to me and grabbed me into one of his huge bear hugs. "You scared the living shit out of me Rae. Cora had to do just about everything but chain me down from running out and looking for you all night. I guess she was the sibling blessed with a rational thought process." He joked.
"Well you got that part right. I'm sorry I snuck out without a word… I just, everything was spinning out of control. I'm a burden on my sister. I stole her childhood right from under her because I was too emotionally damaged." I whispered my insecurities to him. "I don't understand what's wrong with me Derek but I can't forgive myself for forcing it upon Cora." I continued and was completely shocked by his reaction. This fucker was laughing at me! I pushed his arms off of me and just watched as he continued laughing and was about to hit him upside the head when he sobered up and explained himself.
"I'm sorry, it's just, you think Cora gave up her childhood worrying about you because she had too. Cora loves you and that will never change. She would have worried over you regardless of the nightmares, which is completely normal considering what we've been through. Rae, we'll get through this together. Family is everything remember?" He explained and definitely saved himself from a beating quite successfully.
"Family is everything!" I repeated with a warm smile. "And I know you've probably been dying to know and the answer is no, I didn't get anymore nightmares last night. And I'm still a bit convinced that something is broken in my head but you have a point with the shit we've been through. Now we should get back." I said with a smile and a nudge in the other's direction.
"Lead the way Rae." Derek said while following close behind me.
"God this is boring." I whined again. We had all been positioned close together, staying on wooden lifts to keep us from frying ourselves in the electrically charged water.
"Would you rather they come to kill me sooner?" Derek snarked back, I knew he was getting nervous and irritated as well. Even with the circumstances, neither of us were very patient people.
"Don't be such a sour wolf Der, you know I wouldn't let anyone kill you." I shot back with an innocent smile. I turned to Isaac and saw him concentrated on something farther away from us. "Hey Isaac, what's up?" I asked wondering what needed his undivided attention.
"Isn't the light on that supposed to be on?" He asked bringing all our attention to the self made alarm system Derek had come up with.
"Yeah." Derek answered grimly.
"Well then what does it mean if it's not?" Isaac asked again.
"Someone cut the auxiliary power." Derek answered with the same grim tone.
Boyd was about to ask another question when suddenly all the lights went out in the loft and we all rose to our feet. Derek took his first step into the water suspecting that it no longer held it's dangerous charge and continued to move around the loft. I soon followed after him.
"Der, does this mean what I think it does?" I asked, my body was itching for a fight, practically screaming for it.
"Yeah, we fight." He declared. We all got into position as we heard someone opening up the door revealing Kali. Instead of her normal entrance of flat out violence she actually began with a few words.
"You know Derek, when Ennis died I was about ready to just hunt you down and kill you but then I really thought about it and remembered how you always have these teeneagers around to hide behind. Then I thought what's a girl gotta do to get Derek Hale alone?" She mocked as she turned back to see both Ethan and Aiden walk up with Jennifer Blake in their grasps.
I exchanged a look with Ethan, half of me knowing it would come to this but the other half wishing he would just grow a set and be his own person. He quickly avoided looking at me as my stare grew cold and I really felt the blood pumping in my veins, rage accompanying it.
"Come on Derek, just you and me, battle it out or they tear her apart. Do you think you can beat me?" She goaded him and I could see where this was going when Derek silently signaled us to stand down.
"Like hell I'm gonna let you play into her games." I shot back defiantly while the other two obeyed their alpha. "I'm not gonna let your pride get the best of you Derek." I announced firmly.
"Who's the alpha here Derek? Are you just gonna take that from her or are you gonna step up?" Kali mocked on.
"Raven step back." Derek stated.
"No." I shot back just as quickly.
"It wasn't a question! Now step back!" He practically shouted at me and I kept my feet planted firmly on the floor until I saw Jennifer squirm under the claws of the twins and decided to just listen to Derek. I couldn't let an innocent teacher be hurt.
"That's a good girl Raven." Kali mocked.
"Bite me bitch." I snarled while taking slow steps away from my brother.
"Maybe later." She joked with a smirk.
"Enough!" Derek growled. "I'm gonna rip your throat out, with my teeth." He threatened and that definitely set her off as they both bared their teeth at each other. Derek immediately jumped into action by literally jumping in the air to slash at the barefooted bimbo and she deflected his attack. I had to turn away at least for a bit if I planned on being able to just stand and watch this for however long.
"Boyd text Cora and the others, let them know what's happening." I ordered before turning back to the scene in front of me. Both fighters were swinging and slashing at each other but both missing just by a few seconds. Kali had tried swiping her foot underneath Derek's feet to try and trip him but he quickly avoided her attempt. You could hear Jennifer struggling against the twins' hold even more as the fighting progressed.
"Cora said she's on her way with Stiles and Lydia now." Boyd informed me and that only seemed to lighten my nerves to some extent.
"Good." I said while continue to watch the fight and witnessed how Derek clawed at Kali leaving him blind to her counterattack and slashing him in the gut. I literally felt my heart stop while Jennifer's screech pierced the air. "They better hurry." I thought aloud.
Both opponents backed away from each other while Kali jumped against a pillar in the loft to give her some support while she kicked at Derek's face landing him square in the jaw. I turned away quickly and when I looked back somehow Kali had made it to the table while Derek stalked her. He continued to attack her without much success and she continued to defend herself against his attacks and land a shot or two on him.
Derek had fallen to the wet ground countless times and was completely drenched while the she-bitch was fairly dry. She kicked at Derek once more and with the influence of Jennifer's screams Isaac thought it best to run to her side. "Isaac!" I called after him and he stopped in his tracks, also distracting Derek as he called out to him as well.
"Wait!" I demanded of him and continued to watch as Derek managed to get some lead on Kali but was in the end a fruitless attempt as she kicked him back to the ground once more. I was practically shaking now, rage taking over me as I watched on. I knew my features had changed and it was taking everything I had not to jump into action.
"Now!" Isaac shouted as we both sprung from our spots and rushed to Jennifer's side after he got a text message. Boyd was behind us but was too late and surges of electricity rushed into all three still standing in the water. I watched in shock with Isaac behind me hold Jennifer and the twins at my sides but at a safe distance.
"Like hell!" I growled and as both boys ran in front of me I quickly grabbed them by their shirts and threw them behind me. "I think I've waited long enough." I growled at Kali as I watched her charge at me, pressed for time, I knew she would be just that much desperate to win. As she jumped to land on me I perfectly timed a heavy kick to her jaw and managed to send her fly into the table behind her. For the moment she seemed to be down, hopefully with the effects of the electric shock taking its toll on her.
In front of me laid Boyd and Derek both not moving and from behind me I could sense both twins splitting up and attempting to get the jump on me. As they charged at me from both sides I leaped into the air and kicked them both in the face. I landed gracefully and watched as they both held onto their jaws protectively. "Isaac get her out of here and come back as fast as possible." I ordered while preparing myself for their attack as both brothers got back up again.
"No, I'm not leaving. Let me help." He pleaded while soothing a hysteric Jennifer Blake. I shook my head in disagreement and turned to him.
"Just go and make sure she's safe. I'll be fine." I assured him and saw as he got up to leave. Once I was sure Isaac had left safely I turned back to my opponents. Ethan and Aiden were now standing and ready to pounce once more and I was ready to take what was coming to me.
~Isaac's POV~
After leaving the entrance to the loft I eventually lifted Miss Blake into my arms and ran as fast as I could as to get back to Raven quickly. She was crying into my shoulder and looked absolutely helpless and I felt horrible that she had been brought into all the supernatural mess that resides in Beacon Hills. "Everything will be okay Miss Blake, don't worry." I assured, partly to her and partly so I could believe it as well.
Right at the exit of the building in came Stiles, Cora, and Lydia, almost running right into me. "Woah Isaac!" Stiles yelped. "Miss Blake?" He called after finally registering the crying woman in my arms. I placed her up right on the ground carefully and handed her off to Stiles.
"Get her somewhere safe." I ordered shortly and began to run back but before I could even take a step I was called back once more.
"Hey Isaac, what happened?" Stiles continued questioning while passing the crying woman to Lydia, obviously not knowing how to handle the situation.
"Yeah Isaac, what's going on?" Cora questioned as well more worry written on her face. With an adrenaline rush and intense nerves I couldn't even form words correctly. I was fidgeting while trying to explain but nothing was coming out and my breath was increasing rapidly.
"Hey guys, I think he's having a panic attack." Lydia warned as I literally felt the walls closing in at the thought of Raven being in danger. I just wanted to run back to her and was about to take a step but they pulled me back deeming it dangerous for me at the moment. "How do we get him out of it?" Lydia asked while holding Miss Blake back who was in her own state of shock.
"We just, we have to take his mind off of it!" Stiles shouted as he noticed my intense fidgeting. "Isaac, it's okay, we're gonna help." He began repeating but I could not focus at all. Then out of nowhere I could feel my head jerking to the side as the sound of a hand on skin resounded through the air. "Cora, what the hell!?" Stiles shouted. "Why did you just slap him across the face!?" He continued.
"Well, you said get his mind off the panic attack so I figured slapping him would help. See he's already getting better." She concluded and I think she was right because after that slap everything just stopped.
"She's up there." I croaked.
"Who, Isaac, who?" Stiles questioned.
"Kali, she's knocked out. Raven is fighting the twins." I finally spoke and just as soon as the words left my mouth there was a loud crash that sounded like broken glass and from the corner of my eye I saw a body fly to the ground.
"Oh my God!" Lydia cried as she saw the body just laying there. We ran out to see who it could have been and to say I was relieved to be seeing Aiden's limp body on the ground would be an understatement.
Stiles was the first to crouch down next to him to check his pulse. "Is he dead?" Lydia mumbled.
"No. He's just out cold. He's gonna be fine, just in pain for a while." Stiles concluded. Not soon after we all heard a strong and powerful roar eminate from the loft. It almost felt earth shattering and held authority and almost seemed to last forever although it was only about a minute long.
As soon as it was over time sped up again and Cora and I had began sprinting upstairs. "Lydia, take Miss Blake and drive away fast! Do you understand?" Stiles shouted behind us as he through his keys to her and ran after us.
"Okay, just be careful." She called after us.
~Raven's POV~
After Isaac had left, the fight had led us closer to Kali's limp body on the ground. Both brothers were advancing on me but at least to me, it was clear that Ethan had been significantly easier on me. It wasn't extremely noticeable but I knew he was allowing me to land hits on him that he could have easily defended himself against.
Now here all three of us were, Ethan right in front of me and Aiden a couple feet behind but close. I allowed Ethan to begin swinging at me with punches and slashes but I blocked every one and landed a slash to his gut. As he grabbed at his stomach letting out a growl I kicked him in the same wound and as he fell to the ground I ducked right in time and saved myself from one of Aiden's punches.
I swiped my leg under his and tripped him allowing me the perfect time to roll back away from him and jump up safely. Ethan had come up behind me and wrapped his arm around my neck and my hands flew to fight against his hold. "Don't move yet." He whispered quietly in my ear but to keep up appearances I continued to struggle at a minimal level.
"Looks like we finally got you Rae." Aiden mocked as he got back up and walked closer to his brother and I. When he was close enough I sprung into action.
"That's what you think!" I growled back while landed multiple kicks from the bottom up, using Ethan's body as leverage. When I landed a final kick to Aiden's chest sending him flying backwards I got out of Ethan's hold by using enough strength to throw him over my head. It worked beautifully but when I got my balance back Aiden was coming at me again.
I looked up to see a pipe above my head that looked sturdy enough to support my weight and jumped up to grab it and land a powerful quick to Aiden's chest again. He fell to the floor gasping for air and I landed right on top of him dishing out punch after punch to his pretty boy face.
He managed to roll us over and he was on top of me now holding my arms beside my head. "Never thought I'd be on top of you like this Rae." He drawled out while bringing his face closer to mine and I head butted him and punched him in the jaw like I had at the high school.
He landed next to me and I shot back up only to have Ethan slash me with his claws along my back. I turned around quick and backhanded him in the face throwing him to my my left while I stood with the large windows to my right, catching my breath. "Damn it Isaac! Where are you?" I whispered between breaths. I looked to where I had left Aiden on the ground to find him missing. "Fuck."
I quickly turned around with my back facing the windows and watched as he jumped on top of me but I countered by throwing him over my head and out the window. I got up quickly and looked out the window to see that he had landed on the ground and wasn't moving. "Oh my God."
I was about to run outside but neglected to realize Kali had awoken due to the sound of breaking glass and now had lodge a rusty pipe in my abdomen. I left out a roar, louder and stronger than anything I've ever heard come out of me and watched Kali's face go from victory to complete shock.
"They're red." She stated, only loud enough for me to hear since she was so close to me and I found myself highly confused as I stopped roaring. She stepped back from me and watched as I fell to the ground, seeming to have lost all my energy. I was also still trying to figure out what was red that she had seen.
"Ethan hurry up. Grab Derek and I'll grab the other one." She ordered and got to work while I laid limp on the ground, feeling pain from just breathing. Ethan got Derek up and punched him repeatedly until he awoke and had wolfed out while Kali was behind them dragging Boyd's body closer.
Derek was still too weak and Ethan grabbed both his wrists keeping Derek's claws a safe distance from him as he desperately tried to fight back anyway. Kali pushed Boyd into Derek's protruding claws, leaving Boyd with fatal wounds as Derek's red glowing eyes shown that much brighter. Both Kali and Ethan stopped as Boyd fell next to Derek, still with Derek's claws in his gut and I whimpered while the tears fell from my eyes making the whole scene a bit blurry.
"Here's your only choice Derek, you have until the next full moon to join the pack. If you don't, next time I'll be killing all of you." Kali threatened as she walked away. Ethan had just been standing in his same spot looking at me with guilt filled eyes but all I felt was rage towards him. "Ethan! Hurry up, we have to go collect your brother." She ordered and he ran after her after one last glance towards me.
Once they were gone Derek began whimpering, repeating no over and over again hoping to still save Boyd by applying pressure to his wounds. "It's alright" Boyd panted out.
"No, no it's not. Boyd it's not." Derek continued whimpering and all I could do was just lay there helplessly. All I could do was watch my friend die.
"Derek… please, it's alright." Boyd assured him but Derek just continued with his lost little boy stare.
"I'm, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." Derek apologized, with a broken look to him. I knew he had always trusted Boyd and truly appreciated him.
"It was worth it… everything." Boyd panted out, just looking to Derek, making sure he knew it wasn't his fault. That none of it was his fault. "You know a lunar eclipse?" Boyd began but Derek tried to stop him so he could save his energy but his attempts were useless. "I always wondered what it would be like." Boyd spoke slowly. It was now that he finally told the tale of Erica's death.
"We had been sitting there… in the vault. She was so curious about it." Boyd tried laughing gently but it ended in a violent cough. "She knew so much, so much about a lunar eclipse. She just didn't know the one thing… that she really cared about. About what happens during one." He continued and I could see Cora, Isaac, and Stiles all frozen in their spots watching Boyd's death unfold.
They hadn't noticed me yet but it didn't matter. All that mattered now was Boyd. He soon continued, "Kali had come in to check on us regularly at first. She was there… that day. Erica…" Boyd's throat caught as he said her name. "She hoped it would make… her stronger. She attacked her and then… Kali killed her. She killed Erica." He whimpered the last few words of the story with his last breath.
Boyd's body fell to the side while Derek was frozen in place. I let out a cry of my own and the room had finally noticed me. Isaac had ran to my side while Cora went to Boyd and Stiles walked slowly to Derek. Isaac pulled out the pipe out of my abdomen fast to avoid drawing it out and I cried out in pain. I needed to see Boyd though, see it for myself.
"Boyd." I whimpered while the never ending tears continued doing their job. Isaac lifted me in his arms and brought me to Cora's side while she began crying and I just looked at Boyd, really looked at him. His eyes were still open and I closed them in a sign of respect. Cora had moved to laying on his chest and crying and I turned to Derek who was just as bad while Stiles placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.
It seemed to have happened so fast and now Boyd was dead. His lifeless body was right in front of me and all I wanted to do was pretend like this was some horrible nightmare plaguing my mind.
"No." I whispered at first. "No." I repeated once again, finding my voice. "No, no, no!" I shouted and tried to get up but Isaac just held me to him and kept me in place. "NO!" I continued until my throat grew coarse.
"Raven." Isaac called to me but I just shook my head while the tears fell and watched as my brother and sister crumbled before my very eyes.
"No." I whispered one last time.
